Reviews for Hotel Europa
Review 1:The staff were very helpful. Fabiola was a star, she help us with every question, related to tours, booking taxis, stores and even an optician. The hotel is centrally located, walking distance to downtown tourist sights.
Review 2:Gym was small. Looked bigger in the photos but only treadmill and bike and 1 bar and weights
Review 3:Great facilities. Pool, sauna and spa were great. Perfect for what we needed.
Review 4:Is too expensive because the room size, The restaurant is extremly expensive and have lack of dishes.
Review 5:The location of the Hotel is awesome in front of the boulevard
Review 6:The staff here are amazing, I was unfortunately ill during my stay and they took care of me and my girlfriend while I was in hospital. Genuinely care about their guests. Hotel is beautiful and clean. Pool/jacuzzi/steam room is nice and big, very clean and free for guests. Food in both restaurants is really good and very reasonably priced. Cocktails on the top floor after! Free guarded underground parking for guests. Best hotel I stayed in during my whole time in south America.
Review 7:The staff and the way they handled things ! We arrived early by plane, 3 hours before checkin time. No early checkin allowed, ok. Weask for a room aswe were really tired and needed sleep. Gave us a room but we could not sleep in as at 8h30, there were construction work in a room nearby. Called the reception, ask to change the room, said its not possible before 1 hour !!! Had to argue, then proposed a room in an under category ! Argue again, louder, still need to sleep, said they call back in 1min, 10min later got a call that we would get a suite. This was nice and a beautiful suite. When we checked out, we had the very bad surprise to see they charged us the whole fare for the 3extra hours instead of a day use fare !!! Had to argue again a lot at the reception !!... So we would not go there again !!! Not client friendly....
Review 8:The breakfast The bathroom heatedfloor and hot shower The restaurant with amazing argentinian steak The bar on the top, offering a nice city view
Review 9:Everything has a demand of renovation: pool facilities, bathroom, carpets, windows (only a small noise protection). No water boiler on the room. However, we enjoyed our stay to relax.
Review 10:Very comfortable beds in big rooms, breakfast was excellent, pool facilities (although very old and with a demand of renovation)
Review 11:A few small areas for improvement: We ate in the cafe one evening. Good was ok, nothing special, but they were under-staffed, with a dingle waiter, who we could hear shouting at the kitchen staff. Also the wine is really overpriced in the hotel - about double what you'd expect it to be. Finally the school opposite - we didn't have issues with the noise, as some other reviewers did. We learned that it's a bad idea to book a Cs. For between 19:15 & 20:00, because the small street which both the hotel & school are located on, gets clogged up with school minivans at this time, double parking. One night, we were waiting & waiting for our booked taxi, only to see the porters let someone else get in it. Unimpressed by that, which is why staff get a 4 not a 5 score!
Review 12:Hotrl Europa is a well-located, modern hotel in downtown La Paz, close to the Prado & San Francisco square, the hub of the city. The room was spacious, modern & clean. The staff are efficient & friendly. In particular, the front desk staff were very helpful. Rodrigo was exceptional - perfect English, nothing too much trouble - book a taxi, book a table at a restaurant, book is a trip to the cholita wrestling. Breakfast was a well-stocked buffet, including eggs cooked to order. We ate in the a la carte restaurant one night - excellent food, at a good price. We enjoyed a couple of hours in the swimming pool & spa one day. The pool is on the ground floor & is a decent size, big enough to actually swim, not just dip in. We didn't try out any of the massages.
Review 13:We were fooled by one of the guys in the reception. We asked him to call a taxi for us, and asked him how much it should be to where we wanted to go more or less, to know it in advance. We were told 30 bolivianos. The driver drove far to get us where we wanted (to a specific restaurant). When we were going back, the ride took us about 3 min, almost a straight line from the restaurant to the hotel, and we realised that the first driver had driven a crazy bad route. We ended up paying 30 again, but this time knowing that it didn't make sense. Afterwards we both read and heard that it should have been around 5-6 bolivianos for the ride, perhaps more as it was in the evening, but no more than 10. We felt bad that this was how we were treated by one of the guys in the reception, whom we thought we could trust. We told the story to the receptionist that was working the next day, and he said they would find out who had done this. But we never heard anything, or received an apology. The same happened when going to the airport as well. 85 bolivianos when having it booked by the reception. Apparently it shouldn't have been more than 50-60 from the hotel to the airport. You could also go by minibus for almost nothing.
Review 14:It was a great place to come after a week of trekking and traveling from Peru to Bolivia. Nice breakfast, comfortable bed, and perfect hot showers. Spacious room, and the wifi also worked really well. A bit noisy from the school across the street.
Review 15:It was boring to log in again and again for wifi
Review 16:The location was great, in the heart of La Paz. Staff was friendly, breakfast good for Bolivian standard, with fresh made eggs, fruits and different juices. The room was extraordinary large in a good quality . We liked to use the DW channel on TV . Highly recommended
Review 17:We were told my child was not welcome in the pool because children would disturb other guests. staff was extremely rude. The front rotating door malfuntioned and came up on my daughters foot and legs. Staff watched and did not help while we were screaming for someone to shut off the rotating door. Horrible experience with the staff and hotel.
Review 18:Was at the Hotel Europa in late August 2014. Arrived early am after long flight from UK to find -much to my horror-lobby and my eleventh floor room smelling of stale tobacco smoke. Turned out that group of occupants were being allowed to smoke in lobby and rooms. Protested to very careful management who in fairness responded by introduced an immedeate ban on smoking (as they can do under Bolivian law if they choose to in public areas) in the lobby and promised to gradually dispense with smoking rooms throughout the building. Another problem was the noise pollution coming from the the large Don Bosco school across the street. Teachers issuing loud instructions over loud speakers, live band rehearsals, and throngs of vivacious school kids from early morning to evening penetrated the privacy and peace of the Hotel rooms facing the school. To make matters worse one of the restaurant areas was being restored involving temporarily displacement to a cafeteria area and drilling and banging nose by workers involved. I was told by the management that double glazing was being installed and that restoration work would be completed by 2015. I would have liked to have been warned before booking. But Hotel Europa is a good hotel, with a very helpful staff. It will be all the better if it continues to respond to justifiable complaints from its clients.
Review 19:Staff are very friendly and helpful and hotel -although modern-located off the central Prado which is where the true soul and lifeblood of La Paz's indigenous and mestizo culture beats, unlike upmarket Zona Sur. Lovely pool and other spa facilities very restorative after tiring day. Mimimum Breakfast starts at 3.30 am but builds up through to late am.Make sure they make you a cup of the local (legal) coca leaf tea to help you combat altitude sickness. Decent lunchtime buffet and unexpensive a la carte dinner service with soothing live piano player in the background. Efficient in-room wifi, as well us decently functioning desk-top computers near lobby.
Review 20:Need a face lift. Too dated. Not a bolivian 5 star
Review 21:Excellent stay, very helpful staff
Review 22:The beds were very uncomfortable. The room decor looks like from the 80's.
Review 23:Some of the stuff were very friendly
Review 24:The staff is the best
Review 25:My booking was for a couple. Our room although nice was prepared for only one..one cup, one dressing gown and worse one courtesy chocolate.
Review 26:The staff wouldn't give us more than two towels and were very inhospitable. Additionally they forced us to use a bell hop who required a tip.
Review 27:The overall feeling is that the hotel is in need of renovation.
Review 28:Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Heated floors. Big room.
Review 29:The foid at restaurant was amazing as well as the prices. I really love the food there and it tastes fantastic.
Review 30:overpriced
Review 31:location
Review 32:the pool was close on thursday
Review 33:the pool
Review 34:The room was spacious, comfortable, great view from balcony.
Review 35:Spa centre did not operate and the upper sky longue was closed. No notice about a closure of spa&pool on their web, no info provided by staff during reservation .
Review 36:In large hotels such as Europa it is rare to be able to control therooms temperature. Our room was a bit too warm.
Review 37:After travel in other, more rustic parts of Bolivia, it was nice to havea modern hotel with all the amenities. The staff was very attentive inall areas.
Review 38:I wish the fitness facilities -- or at the very least, the small gym -- would open much earlier. I found that 1 p.m. was too late to get a workout in. Breakfast was probably ample for most people, but as vegans we found the options scanty.
Review 39:Great location in a great city, fantastic room (suite), excellent sauna/steamroom/pool, super-friendly and helpful staff.
Review 40:Smoking is allowed inside the hotel, because of bolivian laws.
Review 41:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, we were provided a freeoxigen bottle when requested to aid with altitude sickness. The roomswere very comfortable and clean, the hotel accepted special requests(like cleaning the room with no cleaning products or solvents). The taxiservice at the hotel was excellent and not much more expensive thanother taxis.
Review 42:Insufficent service at early check-out. Although we asked for a bell boyto get the luggage and a taxi, we had to wait 15 minutes and no taxi waswaiting. It is quite frustrating, when you have to rush to the airport.
Review 43:Very nice rooms, excellent value.
Review 44:The Hotel was Comfortable and Clean. The staff were friendly and Helpful. The food was nice and good value for money.
Review 45:Restaurant facilities should to be more widely.
Review 46:One of the best hotels in Bolivia i've ever stay in.
Review 47:I would remark that the hotel is far 25 minutes to the Airport El Alto. Not 10 minutes, as on booking.com website
Review 48:-Breakfast time (late starts)
Review 49:-Staff at the reception -room
