Reviews for Miners Inn
Review 1:The facilities are really nice for a small town like Mariposa. Despite a slightly higher price than the other motels in the area, it provides overall a much nicer experience.
Review 2:Very helpfully provided GOOD locl information. We inquired as to which pubs & restaraunts local people chwse to frequent to enjoy good value & great food; we were very pleased with the suggested places. Also, this was a wonderful small town.
Review 3:Happily surprised to find out that this motel is exceptionally clean, nice and comfortable, with big guest room and lots of remodeling inside and out the motel. A bit of drive to and from Yosemite ski area but it was not much concern to us considering the relaxing and comfortable overnight stay.
Review 4:Bathroom looked rather worn and the fan was too loud. Breakfast does not have too many choices and could be improved.
Review 5:Good access to Yosemite National Park. Possible to drive or take the public Yarts busses. The town of Mariposa is very nice with many restaurants around.
Review 6:Breakfast is poor selection (only sweet food) with nothing much that's healthy. Limited fresh fruit, no yogurt, or true whole grain offerings.
Review 7:Good value for money. Great location (1.15 hour from Yosemite)
Review 8:The so-called "continental breakfast" is a joke, but that seems to be the case everywhere in the US. Breakfasts at hotels in Europe are so much better!
Review 9:Nice location, close to Yosemite. You can take a bus to the park for $12 round trip (takes about 1h 30min each way). The cost of staying here is much cheaper than in Yosemite.
Review 10:I can hear the exhaust fan and water running from my neighbor when they turn it on. They do not have many choices of the hot breakfast, and I think the timer on the waffle maker was off, because my waffle came out half done.
Review 11:Nice staffs, clean room and very dog friendly environment. Huge parking lot.
Review 12:We had to have our room keys re-done 3 times; we were never sure they were going to open our door.
Review 13:Very good free breakfast each morning. The staff was very willing to see that we were taken care of.
Review 14:Uncomfortably "firm" mattress. Heater blew fine particulates into the air, at least at first
Review 15:Big room, good shower, good heat control, 24-hour office/convenience store, fairly quiet. I got one of the last rooms, in a corner facing a wall, but the window allowed light and privacy.
Review 16:Breakfast: Items running out too fast at buffet (very light in itself). equipment not working. Farther from Yosemite than anticipated.
Review 17:The town, very lively on Halloween night. Spacious and pleasant room.
Review 18:No bad experience.
Review 19:That it had a restaurant, it was clean, our room was set back from the main road so it was quiet. It was not luxury of course but it was everything we expected and we would recommend it
Review 20:Pay attention to your account if you pay in cash. I've paid in cash but the staff withdrew money from the debit card as well. Another issue - wi-fi can be week in corner rooms.
Review 21:Late check-in, fast check-out are just fine. Breakfast in the morning is ok.
Review 22:Great breakfast selection. Pool and jacuzzi area was clean and well kept. Room was large and comfortable, huge bathroom and even bigger bath. Owner was welcoming and very understanding (after we accidentally checked out late)
Review 23:The motel was in a nice little town with some nice little shops and only 50 minutes drive from Yosemite. Nice large room with a fireplace and I think there was a warm pool. Easy to,get dinner next door. Breakfast was provided but could get a little crowded as everyone was up,early to drive to Yosemite. We were very happy with our stay here.
Review 24:Breakfast is poor selection with nothing much that's healthy. Limited fresh fruit, no yogurt, or true whole grain offerings. No herbal tea.
Review 25:King luxury suite the only room to have!
Review 26:Although the rooms have updated Bedspreads the stains on the chairs and lamp shades discount the cleanliness of the rooms.
Review 27:Easy access to downtown and the fair grounds
Review 28:Nothing.
Review 29:Large comfortable double Queen bed room with all facilities and with breakfast included, close to Yosemite. On-site pool with hot tub plus bar & restaurant(not used).
Review 30:We were visiting Yosemite and the 40 minute drive to and from the park from Mariposa is very winding especially in the dark. That is the only problem we encountered.
Review 31:Excellent breakfast setup Prompt check-in
Review 32:Distance to center, maybe better to use a car.
Review 33:Pool, shop, restaurant, quiet hotel, services. We decided to stay longer than was our plan. Beautiful little city.
Review 34:It is not a super trendy motel, but found nothing to complain about. For visiting Yosemite on two days a closer location would be good, but there are hardly any.
Review 35:Hot tub, located a bit off the street, so it was not loud from the street, good located for a visit of Yosemite park, nice little historic town, breakfast with fruits, supermarket and washing shop near by.
Review 36:Very minor point but the bubbles button on the spa didn't work.
Review 37:Great pool and spa. Very good value for money, especially as breakfast was included. The diner next door was great too.
Review 38:Free WIFI worked OK on the first night, but was not working the second night. Advised staff of this when it was still not working even at reception the following morning. Told that they would have maintenance reboot the server when they arrived for work.
Review 39:Good value for money. Large but quite dated room, as is the case with so many of USA's motel chains. Plenty of free parking & the free Continental Breakfast was adequate.
Review 40:The pool was cold. The hot tub should be few degrees warmer.
Review 41:The king room was very spacious, nice fireplace, nice jetted bath tub, nice views, good breakfast.
Review 42:Could not connect to Wifi with my Apple Ipad. Front desk said Apple products could not connect most of the time. Please fix!
Review 43:Hotel was attractive, clean and had a great staff
Review 44:No negatives!
Review 45:Mariposa has a relaxed atmosphere with interesting things to see and do, only an hour from Yosemite. The motel met all our requirements - great breakfast, large comfortable room, friendly obliging staff, good parking.
Review 46:Extra bed requested not comfortable.
Review 47:Large comfortable rooms. Very good selection of food for free breakfast provided. Very friendly staff, nice room for breakfast & check-in.
Review 48:no butter, only margarine
Review 49:Great place, svimming pool, great big frigerator, super breakfast: eggs, pancakes, fruit, cheese, cappucino-machine, juice, a lot of tables
Review 50:Wifi connection was almost non-existing. Nothing else.
Review 51:Good location, sweet staff, relaxed environment, mostly clean rooms and lots of value for money.
Review 52:nothing
Review 53:It was less than an hour from Yosemite and the town was really lovely set high in the mountains it looked like a wild west set. Good restaurants nearby. Comfortable room with a large swimming pool. Fantastic breakfast and friendly staff.
Review 54:Everything was good.
Review 55:Friendly lady on reception gave nice welcome. Room was very spacious and well fitted out with very comfortable beds. Good breakfast. During the evening we visited the on-site bar where a great duo were singing (Cottonwood Creek) - very nice atmosphere. Wished we were staying 2 nights. Mariposa is very quaint with a good supermarket and near to Yosemite.
Review 56:Quite far from downton Mariposa but it doesn't really matter because you need a car to get to Yosemite anyway.
Review 57:The hotel offers a good room and a pool for a very reasonable price.
Review 58:Originally given wrong room which was already in use! Swimming pool was freezing, breakfast area not big enough for number of guests
Review 59:Good location near to Yosemite, large rooms, staff very friendly
Review 60:door had quite a gap so we had the floor light lightening up our room the whole night and we could hear all noise from the corridor.
Review 61:best breakfast in a motel we had on our journey. room was spacious and clean
Review 62:The person at check -in lacked personality, a bit.
Review 63:Room was roomy, clean and had everything I needed. The breakfast had lots to choose from. The view from the room was decent.
Review 64:It would have been nice if continental breakfast serve yogurt.
Review 65:The room was bigger than we needed, however we were there on a holiday weekend, and the last room available. We had a king size bed, fireplace & spa tub.
Review 66:The only rack in the bathroom was over the tub.
Review 67:Quality restaurant is located on the premises. My elderly mother could walk there with her walker from our room, which was good because we missed the complimentary breakfast (closes at 9:00). Cable TV is provided.
Review 68:Room backed on to a very busy road and outside of building was in need of restoration especially in balcony area.
Review 69:Great room with spa bath and shower. Good breakfast.
Review 70:Preset coffee with English Toffee & French Vanilla not dispense evenly, taste aweful sometime juice dispenser not working dispensing water instead juice breakfast no ham / sausage nor boiled eggs, but black grapes are sweet and juicy--hot coffee OK--pan cake machine not easily to process--but staff try to refill and clean up after crowds finish eating--reasonable free meals at Miners Inn with years heritage in operation easily accessible from HWY 140
Review 71:Restaurant on site dinner is good with fair price waitresses were friendly go extra miles to inform you how early you should depart to arrive at Yosemite park entrance like 1.5 hrs where breakfast & how early was served on main lobby entrance--breakfast is good overall and counter Manager David explained well how to reach to Hwy 94 en-route back home to Hwy 140 even well illustrated on phone as I was misled by Mapquest direction passing beyond to 99 exit 221..waste extra 1 hour back & forth at least before sun down arrived facility safely
Review 72:No wifi in the rooms, didn't really bother us as parents, but the younger generation with us found this very frustrating. If wifi could be in the rooms Miners Inn would be perfect.
Review 73:We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Miners Inn. The rooms have all you need, a balcony, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and the shower was really good too. The swimming pool is a great bonus after a long day in Yosemite. Loved the location it's about a 15 minute walk into town there are some great restaurants to eat at and Mariposa is a lovely little town. It is about an hour away from Yosemite but you benefit from actually staying in a town rather than just a motel with nothing else around it. The YARTS buses stop just round the corner so it's very convenient for that and the price of staying there is very reasonable. Many thanks to the staff there, who work very hard.
Review 74:WiFi was virtually not existend in the room. Breakfast was chaotic (more due to the guests than to the staff) Hotel was booked the other night so we could not extend our stay.
Review 75:Cheap and relatively close to YNP (less than one hour) The pool is nice. Eating at 1850s is good.
Review 76:Battle field breakfast around 8 am, no places, everything was run out - but personnel tried to fix as good as possible
Review 77:Not too far from Yosemite Parc (55-60 min), friendly personnel, good comfort even furniture etc have already some years. Good restaurant with reasonable prices.
Review 78:decor although in pristine condition is from the 80s!!
Review 79:we booked a king suite. huge bath jacuzzi/shower! lovely pool and views. waffles pancakes etc for breakfast mariposa town was surprisingly lovely old fashioned looking great restaurants and shops so great for entertaining in between Yosemite visit.
Review 80:Located on the outskirts of Yosemite Nation park its a 45 minute drive to the park. Small town with ample cafe bars and restaurants. Miners Inn has free wifi , rooms clean and reasonable size. Air conditioning, tea/.coffee free breakfast. pool is clean and towels are provided.
Review 81:Wifi is so slow that it is unsable. Breakfast is really simple. No scrambled eggs or hash browns.
Review 82:Reasonable clean. Large parking lot. Nice view of mountain surroundings. Nice pool.
Review 83:Wifi in the bedroom was very poor, slow and intermittent.
Review 84:The pool is great, a nice place to cool off. Breakfast is hearty, a few less carbs and more choice of fruit would be nice.
Review 85:Their breakfast was mostly sugar foods. Protein offered was cubed cheese for 2 days and only one day did they have hard boiled eggs.
Review 86:Great room with spa tub, balcony and fireplace!
Review 87:Bathroom door was squeaky. Also had a few issues with toilet tank chain getting caught.
Review 88:Loved the fresh fruit for breakfast! Great location near Yosemite.
Review 89:A little bit far from Yosemite National Park. Wifi didn't work the whole time.
Review 90:Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but tasty. Staffs were helpful.
Review 91:Wifi has a poor connection
Review 92:This is a perfect location just outside of Yosemite Park. The room is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. I should not forget to mention the excellent breakfest!
Review 93:Bed was soaking wet on arrival. Room smelled badly of damp (was resolved promptly). Corridors also smelled bad. Bath had a dirty 'tide' mark around it. Overflow on basin was covered in black mould. Air con dripped water and carpet was wet (damp smell?). Carpet was dirty, we had black soles within minutes of walking on it. My wife also got several insect bites whilst in the room. The worst hotel in our 3 week road trip...
Review 94:Our room was not serviced on our first day and we had to complain the second day, otherwise it would possibly have been missed again. It was very, very busy during breakfast, barely able to get a seat.
Review 95:Location was very good, so close to Yosemite Park. There was also a good swimming pool. We could easily walk the mile into town.
Review 96:The internet every minte was disconngting from the isp Could not brows
Review 97:Breakfast was good ,more then continnatal breakfast location 40 min from yosmite park
Review 98:WIFI was extremely slow in room - it was better by the pool! One morning the breakfast room was overwhelmed by a coach party
Review 99:Used as a base for visiting Yosemite - just within sensible commute each day ( around 55 minutes ). Local restaurants good ( esp Savoury's)
Review 100:The workers must have access to the guest pool. There was a couple who brought their boy to the pool a couple of the days we were there. Although a sign stated No Diving, these people seemed proud of their screaming, cannon balling boy. The man chain smoked while the boy ran and jumped wild tricks into the pool, spraying paying guests and making it unpleasant with cigarette smoke. Seriously, smoke in your quarters, don't poison our air.
Review 101:It was very convenient, and had extensive choices for the complimentary breakfast. Had great places to eat nearby, had a grocery store close by and a pool.
Review 102:WiFi bandwidth was low
Review 103:Staff was helpful and friendly, breakfast had a range of options, bed was comfortable, room clean, easy parking and lots of restaurant options close by.
Review 104:Room was not properly made up, rubbish left behind, lights did not work and we had to get the staff to replace bulbs which room service should have picked up. Carpet looked dirty and tired, needs replacing. Exhaust fan sounded like a Boing 747.
Review 105:Staff was friendly and fixed things when reported. The location was good and the associated restaurant had good food reasonably priced. Breakfast offered good selection.
Review 106:Pool was a little small and the waffle makers were not working well and the pancake maker was broken. This caused a line up. Overall the breakfast was pretty good.
Review 107:Very good value for the money and good location. It was very hot and the room was still cool. The main building a/c had broken though.
Review 108:Breakfast - typical American hotel breakfast of bland carbs which we skipped on the second morning and ate at the Happy Burger Diner instead. And a minor point but for me the pillows were too hard. The wifi link was dreadful None of that would necessarily stop me from going back though.
Review 109:Staff at checkin were really helpful. Swimming pool was great after a hot day hiking. Mariposa was a lovely town, loved The Happy Burger Diner and the town museum was fab
Review 110:Nothing
Review 111:Staff very friendly, room big and clean, nice little pool had a dip in the evening, breakfast is buffet style help yourself with waffles, toast, pastries, yoghurt, fruit, etc. it's about 1.5 hours drive to the visitors centre in Yosemite National Park but the drive up the mountains is amazing and all part of the experience. We arrived quite late so bar stopped serving food but we went to a bar just down the road and the chef made food for us, very friendly people.
Review 112:Great location for visiting Yosemite National Park. Huge bedroom and bathroom....well equipped kitchen and a lovely pool. Great breakfast with make yourself waffles....My wife left some clothing there by mistake and the great staff posted them on to another hotel for later on our trip.....highly recommended
Review 113:Only 4 coat hangers in wardrobe. Breakfast
Review 114:About one hours drive from Yosemite Village this hotel was a good value base. One big advantage of the location is that there are shops and several restaurants in the town. Our (free upgrade) king suite was spacious with a well equipped kitchenette. The hotels restaurant was good for dinner but the breakfast, served in the reception area was not. We only went our first day.
Review 115:Noisy AC
Review 116:Good wifi. Large rooms with fridge and microwave. Large outdoor pool. Good breakfast (waffles, cereal, fruit, pastries, coffee etc). 2 min drive to town centre for restaurants etc
Review 117:Breakfast could be improved. More fruit, less iced doughnuts. Quite slow WiFi.
Review 118:Big room, high ceiling. Good local restaurant choice. Good air conditioning.
Review 119:Hot tub was a little to hot and needed cleaning.
Review 120:The pool, large room. Staff was great. I lived in Mariposa for 20 years before moving to Delta. Family still there. Not much has changed. Love Mariposa.
Review 121:The only area of improvement could be the carpet was very dirty. I allowed my young daughter to crawl on the floor and her knees and feet got very dirty from doing that.
Review 122:The drive from the motel to the park was not far and the scenery was beautiful. The room was comfortable and the staff very accommodating.
Review 123:Weird a/c control, staff had to come to room to show how it worked-maybe put something in manual of how to use. Trouble with internet-could not open browsers. Soap for hands and shower broken into multiple pieces when opened-tried 4 different packages. Shower head quite low-no problem for me 5ft 1in but may be for someone taller. Bus load of tourists who were very loud and woke me up. Ashtrays are near entrances-initially group of smokers in doorway(my room was near door) could smell smoke in hall. Staff did discuss with group and they nicely complied-
Review 124:Staff was friendly and helpful. Initially put me upstairs and happily accommodated my request to move downstairs.
Review 125:breakfast available only until 9am
Review 126:The hotel is conveniently located near the entrance of the Sequoia national park. The room was nice, quite big, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and it was good and abundant. Overall, a very positive experience.
Review 127:The internet was slow but they told us it was because of a storm they had.
Review 128:The friendliness of the staff and the big and clean room not far from a cosy town. The breakfast was nice and also the swimming pool was a plus.
Review 129:the Bed was very hard.. the wifi was in and out hard time using it.. the biggest problem was the curtains they did not fit the window and it was so so so so so hard to sleep the light comes into the room that was very bad.. what we paid for this room a night I would think it would of been a much better stay, I told the people at the desk our problem and all they said was ya we have had that complaint before ?? that was it not we will fix it or anything...
Review 130:Unfortunately, it snowed the night before and both the Tioga Road and the Mariposa Grove were closed for the 48 hours we were in the area. When that happens, you are a very long way from nowhere if the next stop on the itinerary was to be on the other side of Yosemite. This of course had nothing to do with the Miners Inn but it mat need to be factored in if driving in the shoulder season.
Review 131:The place was very handy to the highway and a good quality steak could be had at the adjoining restaurant. Breakfast was pretty reasonable. Good location with access to Yosemite Park and Village (need a car as it is about an hours drive) but also to Mariposa Grove (about an hour south)
Review 132:the wifi was horrible and basically nonexistent which was annoying since so many people have complained about it, wish they could fix that issue then this place would be pretty perfect
Review 133:we stayed here for two nights including the night before we did half dome, about one hour drive to the valley, comfortable, super fantastic and yummy breakfast, nice facilities, mariposa is a cool little town with good food options
Review 134:We were near the entrance to the building, so were woken up by a tour bus of people wheeling their suitcases out and chatting outside our window as they waited for their bus (starting before 7am); it was expensive for the quality, but I guess you're paying for its location (it's 1 hour drive from Yosemite).
Review 135:Good location (1 hr from Yosemite); breakfast had a larger selection than some other motels of a similar quality; 24 hour check-in.
Review 136:It would be helpful if this hotel had a larger area for breakfast - it was overflowing all 3 days we were there.
Review 137:We booked a higher graded room, and it was really nice. Also we enjoyed walking around the old town, which had a good range of shops and eateries.
Review 138:Breakfast was ok, but no hot food available.
Review 139:Used as a base for visiting Yosemite, the Miners Inn proved to be ideal. Friendly, helpful staff. Our suite type room included a massive bedroom with fireplace and spa bath. Plus fully equipped kitchen area and separate bathroom. We also had a private veranda. Everything was clean and well maintained.
Review 140:No complaints really just very very slow wifi which we had to use to book our next hotels. This resulted in two late starts to the day. We gave up and called into the local Burger King which has good free wifi
Review 141:A great little town with very friendly people. The outdoor pool and hot tub area are very nice. The breakfast was the best we had in two weeks of traveling. Yosemite Park is just thirty miles up the road
