Reviews for Hotel Catalina

Review 1:The hotel was not what was shown. Bleach stains in the carpet of the room. It's winter no working heater. Had to pretty much sleep in full gear as if we were outside.

Review 2:The staff was amazing.

Review 3:Location of the room. Was next to the stair. I heard every coming up to their rooms.

Review 4:The room was clean. It was a non smoking room, just like I wanted.

Review 5:Great location close to the seafront. Steamer for clothes in the room was so much better than ironing. Amazing whirlpool deep bath. Coffee and donuts every morning - complementary!

Review 6:Pillows smelled of vomit. Room carpet gross and dirty need replace . Sink in room, not very clean , will not stay again

Review 7:Location and staff was friendly

Review 8:Well I think that maybe they could make the style of the room a little more modern and updated. The vintage look is nice but I felt like some of the designs like bedding for exmple looked a bit cheap. Vanity sink area was really nice, maybe something to flow with that look.

Review 9:Well first I feel like I lucked out with the location, it was really in the center of everything and our room even had a nice little ocean view. It beats paying the overpriced stays next door. It was really simple but I had planned to be out enjoying the island anyways. It was The best priced hotel stay in Catalina.

Review 10:WiFi was very sporadic. Coffee room was not cleaned regularly. Hot water pot empty and no water to fill it. Tray in drink machine over flowing onto floor.

Review 11:Large room and bathroom, clean rooms, good location, quiet.

Review 12:I injured my knee two days before I was to travel to the hotel and was unable to walk. Thus, I called to cancel more than 48 hours in advance. Unfortunately, this hotel has a policy that you must cancel 14 DAYS in advance of arrival. I didn't even book the hotel 14 days in advance. They refused a refund and said the only thing they could do was give a credit voucher for a future stay. Seeing as how we do not live in California and were only there for a vacation, we will not be using this so called "credit". We ended up staying at a hotel in Laguna Beach so that I didn't have to walk around so in essence we paid double the price for a one night stay in California. Incredibly disappointing to say the least.

Review 13:The outside Jacuzzi hot tub was only 101 or 102 not hot enough at all.

Review 14:The newer rooms with the large jet tub, refrig./ micro/ extra large screen flat screen tv. All of the room décor and furniture and wall art. Not bad at all, very romantic and quiet.

Review 15:WIFI never worked the whole time I was there. The staff are nasty and gossipy. They do not clean the rooms correctly. The daily clean consists of staff coming in and replacing the towels and placing new tiny bottles of shampoo. No real cleaning was done. I saw several roaches in my room during the stay. The "continental breakfast" is nothing more than donuts and coffee, which the staff eat most of. Gee, i wonder why they are all fat woman. what a joke.

Review 16:close to transit and beach

Review 17:Spa bathroom was big but the window didn't open for fresh air. We only stayed the night so everything was fine.

Review 18:The bed was better than most. The TV took up most of the room, which was great..because the Tour de France was on.

Review 19:No elevator so you have to lug your luggage upstairs. Noisey neighbors and in the courtyard until 11 pm. The chair in the room was old and wobbly it also had sharp tacks poking through.

Review 20:Bathroom was beautiful and had a jacuzzi tub with separate shower. My room also had a refrigerator and microwave which was very convenient. The big flat screen with cable and DVD.

Review 21:It was one of the farthest hotels from the ferry, I am a senior citizen, and was pretty exhausted when we tried to check in, they told us that we were at the wrong site! Once we arrived to the right site, no one assisted us with the baggage, we had to lug them upstairs on our own.

Review 22:A very nice refurbished garden type Hotel, no view but a nice garden area to visit. It was quiet, clean, and it felt comfortable to lounge around when we were not out and about.

Review 23:The amenities didn't resemble the pictures as advertised. The bathroom in the picture looked awesome but the one we got wasas small and austere as possible.

Review 24:The bed was very plush!

Review 25:Too expensive for what they have to offer; wifi too slow most of times! ... Other than that, it was a good choice for us!

Review 26:Location Jetted tub Modern bathroom

Review 27:no A/ C, but good thing it was not that hot those days we staid.

Review 28:staff was very friendly and the hotel is very nice to stay, rooms are a bit small but this made our stay more romantic. thank you for the service provided.

Review 29:I was put on the third floor and there is no elevator. Because of the part, there were rowdy kids partying...during January.

Review 30:staff.

Review 31:Quaint & romantic

Review 32:Bathroom too small

Review 33:It was relaxing and beautiful view

Review 34:It was freezing in the room. Absolutely no view ,and the sweet was expensive .

Review 35:The bed was super comfy, location was great and the girl who has worked there for 9 years was awesome!

Review 36:We didn't have Wifi for a long time.

Review 37:Hotel descript kitchenent but there has no stove.

Review 38:Clean and silence

Review 39:Spa not heated above 98 degrees.

Review 40:Cottage was perfect for 3 adults.

Review 41:The power kept going off

Review 42:Catalina

Review 43:Price, way over priced for the size if the room.

Review 44:Location, comfort

Review 45:continental breakfast should include fruit and dry cereal. All it is are donuts. donuts.

Review 46:Décor, 30s charm.

Review 47:Ran out of hot water after first use of tub.

Review 48:Quaint environment! Nice Spa bathtub!

Review 49:COMPUTER IN OFFICE AND PRINTER AND HOT TUB , AND DRINKS AND DONUTS

Review 50:Room size, bed was lodged against the wall.

Review 51:Close to everything but not on a loud busy street.

Review 52:nothing

Review 53:Very clean and staff very helpful

Review 54:no pool, on third floor

Review 55:wifi, tv, bed

Review 56:The rooms were clean upon arrival, but they were not cleaned well for the remainder of our stay. The soap was not replenished after we ran out. The beds were hard. We woke up with back pain every morning. The rooms were small, but that was to be expected. The antique bathtub/shower was quaint, but the water pressure was a little too low. I felt like I couldn't rinse off my shampoo/conditioner from my hair well enough. There also seemed to be a foul, musty odor in the lobby area.

Review 57:It was walking distance to most of the points of interest in Avalon. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. My first impression was that it was a charming hotel with history.

Review 58:The restroom area at the courtyard looked to be more for staff than guests and was locked half of the time. Sort of a pain for each of us to have to climb up to our rooms when enjoying time at the courtyard with friends. Would like to see a wider variety of snacks for breakfast.

Review 59:The room was spacious and the bathroom was modern and luxurious. We also loved the quant courtyard with the colorful plants and a firepit. Staff was quick to tend to our needs and even watched our bag for us the last day as we went out to play. Liked the small room with juice, coffee n donuts left out for guests, also.

Review 60:Wifi worked for one day, even if you had the code it would connect but no Internet. Had a weird smell. The key card worked on the front door but it stayed unlocked causing strangers to enter at night. Last day we were there they were remodeling, alot of noise. Our door to the room was almost blocked with furniture. I told the manger and he refunded half of that day for the inconvenience.

Review 61:The location was nice. We had a great view of the ocean. Check in and check out was easy. Was clean, warm greeting when we entered the hotel.

Review 62:the close proximity to the main streets, beaches and water. the hotel was small and quaint with a relaxed feel and friendly staff. i'd stay there again.

Review 63:We should have been escorted to our room - it was difficult to find. We had no idea the door close to our room got locked at night, and it was somewhat annoying.

Review 64:AMAZING LOCATION and the staff at back office was great.

Review 65:Would like something other than donuts for breakfast

Review 66:The hotel dates back to the the late 1800's, charming. It had old decor and pictures dating back to the turn of the century. Could see the ocean from our room. They also rented cottages and had a nice hottub and barbecue area. Right in the town and easy access to everything.

Review 67:Loved the hotel, only issue was the Fire Pit, do not get a room around the FirePit in the Garden Wing. Loud drunken parties. Hotel lobby closes at 9pm and no phone in room to call Mgt. After several requests, people went back to their rooms and quieted down. Party was mainly scuba divers on weekends ! Pavaroti piped into Fire Pit area is annoying !!!!!!! The speaker is behind the cement deer....just loud enough to grate on you, Pavarotti not my favorite so made it worse.

Review 68:Room was clean, staff was great, about a 1/2 block from beach. Fresh donuts! Break room open 24hrs, ice water, juice and coffee/tea available.

Review 69:Nothing not to like.

Review 70:The room was perfect. Staff was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely revisit this hotel. Thanks for an great weekend.

Review 71:The sketchy WIFI... So important nowadays... Our room location was right next to office and lots of people traffic... We needed a bit more privacy... Them from us and us from them... Romantic getaway... :) But overall a good value.

Review 72:The whirlpool bath and separate showers...the size of the bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff. The bed was comfy too.

Review 73:There was a pillow on the bed with black eye make-up on it still, and they tried to double charge me for the room. It was fixed right away after I called about it, but they said that I tried to book two rooms which I did not. I had an online confirmation and an email as well confirming that I booked one room. It seemed a bit shady to me.

Review 74:The room was a pretty good value and had some really nice views of the ocean. The decor was nice too.

Review 75:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 76:The hotel was clean, quiet, very comfortable, and had state of the art fixtures, huge flat screen TV. And for my son and I, it was basically right in the middle where we walked to. Staff also extremely helpful. Loved the little fire pit in the courtyard wing.

Review 77:The quality of the cable, no service after 9pm, Check-in at 2p and check-out at 10a. I believe the money I paid for the room I should have been able to spend more time in it.

Review 78:I liked room itself. Comfortable bed and nice size bathrooms (courtyard wing). Big TV with a nice size spa bath.

Review 79:The breakfast area wasn't checked very often, they would run out of cream. That's nitpicking, because overall the place was excellent.

Review 80:Big room, huge HDTV, free wi-fi, excellent location, great bed. We stayed in the newer "garden" area. Great!

Review 81:The room was on a Catwalk so it had only the window on the walkway. Not my favorite style room for privacy and makes for a dark room.

Review 82:The room was decorated very lovely as well as the hallways and garden areas. Wonderful artwork of Catalina. The bathroom was huge all done in gorgeous stone and granite.

Review 83:Thought a light breakfast should be included for price. Very disappointed that golf carts around town were not electric. Very noisy and smelly exhaust. Go green!!

Review 84:Very nice location. The bathroom was very large and nice.

Review 85:They need a nicer lobby and something other than just donuts, coffee and juice.

Review 86:The new wing is very nice. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. I love The Jacuzzi the bathtub.

Review 87:Old hotel, rooms smell old and musty, carpet in room disgusting.

Review 88:Easy walk to town, quiet.

Review 89:For the price..I think it was a bit steep for the hotel itself...very clean tho And the staff very friendly and accommodating

Review 90:The bed was very comfortable, bathroom very clean, all amenities worked very well.

Review 91:Fresh bakery donuts everymorning!

Review 92:No recommendations for what we should do on the island.

Review 93:I loved the fireplace downstairs and the beautiful spa bathroom.

Review 94:Room are clean in the afternoon and not in the morning.

Review 95:small choice of beakfast

Review 96:staff is very nice and very helpful good environment

Review 97:Excellent newly renovated room. Great privacy.

Review 98:Beautiful view thanks for the upgrade complementary. Will be booking with this hotel in future trips.

Review 99:We stayed in one of the upgraded rooms and absolutely loved it.

Review 100:Nice room, great big tv, bathroom was awesome.

Review 101:Courteous and helpful staff. Free juice and coffee. Front Door locks at a certain time to ensure guest safety. Enjoyed the front patio.

Review 102:The WIFI seems slow and not too much technical support.

Review 103:Rooms are clean and spacious.

Review 104:The complimentary doughnut selection and juice.

Review 105:I loved the room. It was very nice and elegant.

Review 106:nice room good bed and great tub
