Reviews for Red Roof Inn and Suites Newark Delaware

Review 1:No elevator. Not enough time there wish we could had stayed longer. The breakfast closed to early

Review 2:The rooms were so spacious the balcony was very lovely. Would recommend to anyone

Review 3:Things need to be updated. I hope thats what we saw when looking out the window. We saw construction. So glad i just needed a place to stay for one night as I pass by on our way up to Wilmington.

Review 4:The price

Review 5:Staff was nice. Great continental breakfast. Clean rooms, not one critter bit me during my stay! Price was unbeatable. Would stay there again without question.

Review 6:The breakfast was not good and is very poor, you wants to have a nice and new breakfast at the hotel, and not the same you eat in your house everyday, something different from the regular house breakfast. There was no toothpaste in my room,I don't I can't tell about other rooms,I have to go and ask for ,it only serve for one day for two people, and we were there for three days,I needed to open a can milk, I went to the reception for something, but I was told there's nothing ,not even a small knife from the kitchen, I was directed to go outside to the restaurant nearby, that was really bad.

Review 7:The location, the staff, and the area was great, and the room very nice

Review 8:the staff are very nice and helpful. Rooms super nice. like the security around the place and locked doors to enter. Malin, across street next to shell gas station has great soup, sandwiches, steaks and subs.

Review 9:For a non smoking room, there was a strong smell of smoke, curtains, bed sheets and couch were stained band dirty, and broken glass in bathroom.

Review 10:The location was convenient to University of Delaware and staff offered to switch our room. Other room wasn't much better and we were settled so decided not to move.

Review 11:I'm so glad I spent nearly $100 to stay in the worse hotel ever! From the moldy bathrooms, broken sliding door and the overall dirtiness. The pics are lies, please see viewer pics for the truth! I unfortunately had no other choice but to stay. I will never stay at a red roof again!

Review 12:It's was literally 30 seconds away from where my family needed to be.

Review 13:The 2 beds in the room had a u shape. When u landed down on the beds you tended to roll down hill into the middle of the beds.

Review 14:The place was close to the major highway & stores. Staff was great. Breakfast was good. Hallways were very quiet. The price was very reasonable.

Review 15:I felt the room was really in need of updating. I really felt like the housekeeping was minimal. I feel badly saying this because staff was nice and friendly but I did have questions about how clean things were.

Review 16:Staff was friendly.

Review 17:Out of date, furniture old-fashioned and in bad shape, ripped. Bathroom rusty, in need of maintenance. Stains on ceiling, carpet, furniture. Would NEVER stay here again.

Review 18:Staff was pleasant and friendly.

Review 19:1)Strong chemical odor to mask pet odor. 2)Very dirty desk chair. 3)Toilet didn't work. 4)Blood-stained mattress covered with a clean mattress cover. 5)Hard surfaces inside and out were well worn. 6)Sink was cracked.

Review 20:Staff was friendly, helpful and polite.

Review 21:There was 5 people in our party they would only When told about it they gave us three more bath towels,, like we are to share the wash cloth and other things,, we ended up going down to the store and getting our owned ,,, the third bed was not worth having (see Pictures)

Review 22:area

Review 23:When we pulled in to check in there were condom boxes all over the parking lot. We stayed 2 nights and we went to check out they were still there. Our room was just alright. The shower had to settings. Arctic cold or Inferno hot. The breakfast was good but when we went down the first morning there was a big bug crawling on the wall, and the employee working the breakfast just stood there and watched it. My husband and I travelled together to visit friends for the weekend, we have a 2 year old and we would never stay there with him. In fact, if he would have been with us we wouldn't have stayed and would have packed up and found another hotel to stay in

Review 24:We requested a new room because the first had stained linens, a non-working phone, and the bathroom ceiling was cracked and bulging. Switching was no problem, but the new room was still in poor shape; all the furniture and linens were very old and shabby. The bedspread had a cigarette burn and curtains were torn. Seems like this is a good place if you have a dog or you get a Jacuzzi room (we had a basic king).

Review 25:The staff was very polite and breakfast was better than average for this type of hotel.

Review 26:Everything! Didn't get past the lobby...window. Reserved room on line and was told at time of attemted check-in that the room was no longer available. Extremely Unprofessional as no attempts were made to notify me of this issue

Review 27:Wasn't exactly what I expected from the photos but it was acceptable. There was a light bulb out and the balcony was covered in so many large dead bugs that it looked like no one been out there in years. Air conditioner also had a funny smell when it was first turned on.

Review 28:Easy to get to and not to far from some night life. Staff was friendly. And breakfast was good.

Review 29:Sliding door to outside easily manuevered and could be opened from outside even with a bar that was placed to prevent this. Locks didn't work on door! Roaches in bathroom noted. WiFi is not a secure access the manner in which is set up. Spoke with tech support regarding this and he stated how company set it up. Red Roof (in this location, maybe others) may have wifi, but access at own risk Felt could not do computer work I needed to do safely.

Review 30:Staff attempted to be helpful. However, language barrier with one staff member who had to get me into room when electronic key didn't work.

Review 31:Wi Fi didn't work, refrigerator was in need of defrosting, our view was a concrete wall. The ice machine didn't work. Bed gave me a backache.

Review 32:Not much!

Review 33:The bed had not been fully made and we had to ask for blankets. there was also no shower curtain and we needed more towels. There was mold and rot on the ceiling.

Review 34:The staff was wonderfully friendly and very helpful. The room was large and comfortable.

Review 35:Smelly musty odor on blankets

Review 36:There was a musty odor on the comforter and no top sheet only a fitted sheet only 1 large towel for 2 people pillows were like cheap dollar store pillows... more like a road side motel room...

Review 37:When I got to my room it was clean but my husband noticed an open condom wrapper in the trash can.I went immediately to the hotel desk and they were very apologetic and switched me to another room.

Review 38:I did like that you had to use a key to enter the building. I did not get to use the pool but it did look clean. The hallways were very clean the staff was friendly and apologetic.

Review 39:Sagging bed, mold in the shower, small towels...shall I go on... the whole place felt "icky" It also seemed like the entire neighborhood knew they could go there for free breakfast on Sunday as the room was packed with loud, rude, large families

Review 40:Convenient location off Interstate

Review 41:TV had black line through screen - needs repair. Our request for an additional wash cloth and towel had to be picked up at front desk. Instructions for where breakfast is served very unclear. Limited working ice machines. Very limited bathroom toiletries. NO tissues...one small garbage can for a room that sleeps 6.

Review 42:Room size for the price

Review 43:The staff & management went out of their way to help me be able to stay there when something went wrong with my reservation & credit card. They made sure to clear up all my concerns & made me feel at ease! The room I was in was clean & well stocked & the bed was fairly comfortable!

Review 44:The vending machines weren't located on the same floor

Review 45:The bed was amazing! I slept like a baby. I loved the vessel sink and the towels were so soft.

Review 46:Just so happened to be a motorcycle club reunion(no big deal to us, but they were up all night and day, and bikes revving up at 6 am, hence the reason for change of location we were next to parking lot. Place is in need of a complete makeover. Grounds messy, loads of poop on lawn by the pool. Coming home Sunday night, 7 state troopers in back parking lot. they were walking down halls for something, nobody knew what. Kind of scary. The MC was gone by then, so it wasn't anything to do with them.

Review 47:I requested a change of room for location due to noise, front desk never even questioned anything, they actually upgraded to a suite. But suite was run down. Ceiling stain, also on rug which look like a murder had been committed.

Review 48:The gentleman at the front desk was not pleasant at check-in. I was required to sign several pages of rules worded in an ambiguous manner in order to rent our rooms This was uncomfortable. My room was extremely shabby and uncomfortable, and a young couple were engaging in questionable activity in the parking lot outside of my room.

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:a/c did not work in first room but they switched us immediately the next day. could have more options for breakfast. quoted price from booking website was different than what was charged.

Review 51:nice warm pool, big rooms

Review 52:There was a certain smell in the room that we had and in some hallways too.

Review 53:The breakfast had a wide variety - fresh fruits, waffles, bagels and some pastries.

Review 54:The 1st room had roaches and the 2nd room the key didn't work. Had to grab someone from the front desk to come and assisted us!

Review 55:Able to get away from home

Review 56:Room was clean but ceiling and rugs looked dirty and worn. The sheets did not fit the bed and the wifi service was inconsistent.

Review 57:The bed was fairly comfortable and it was quiet. The outside pool was nice. It was close to a college town with lots of restaurants.

Review 58:I reserved a room with 2 beds (which I had paid a little extra for) but got one king. They had no rooms left with 2 but gave us a roll away with a totally unacceptable mattress. The king size bed was very visibly sagging in the middle!

Review 59:The room was very clean. The breakfast was quite nice and kept well stocked for the entire time they were listed to be serving.

Review 60:As me, my wife and my kids unpacked our car for our stay after driving 9 hours from Myrtle Beach, we had to witness a man purchase a prostitute in front of us, wich led to a very uncomfortable stay. First being the thoughts of what possibly went on in the room the night before.we had to strip the beds and kids slept with beach towels. Outside and overall look of building is very poor shape compared to pictures displayed while booking. This place is swine.

Review 61:Nothing.

Review 62:rooms extremely dirty, drugs found in room, holes in walls, dirty blankets, ice machine didn't work, refrigerator didn't work

Review 63:the heart shape hot tub

Review 64:Raj was really unhelpfull. I wanted to pay in cash he refused, stated that I secured the booking by credit card. There was a very bad smell in the hotel, especially in the corridors

Review 65:The interior is a little outdated, but bed was decent enough and the room was huge. Pool was a bit dirty. Breakfast spread was alright, but for some it might not be up to their standards. They have bagels, fruit (not the best mind you), coffee, juice, cereal, danish and waffles.

Review 66:Spacious room, fridge and microwave available, pool, and breakfast included.

Review 67:When we walked through the door several stained mattresses were sitting by the door. We arrived to a room in which only the beds were made. The trash wasn't emptied. I had to call and ask for towels and bathroom necessities. My room smelled like smoke. We reserved a non smoking pet free room. So much carpet fresh was put on the carpet I could barely breathe.

Review 68:mold in the corners of the bathtub, key card reader to get in the entrance we were directed to was broken.

Review 69:Steph is Cordio and easy to deal with breakfast was great.

Review 70:Everything was great except for the fact that I could hear my fellow travelers having relations in their room.

Review 71:The lady who ran the breakfast room on Monday (6/22) was absolutely sweet. I entered the room not realizing that I had missed the slotted breakfast time, but she let me sit down and get whatever I needed. She even gave me a last call before cleaning up.

Review 72:My only problem was, the hotel was outdated in rooms and hallways. Felt old, almost like at grandmoms ;)

Review 73:Everything was nice, the employees were friendly, hotel was clean and felt safe.

Review 74:The beds were quite hard, but I am also used to memory foam! The room was very dated and could have used some sprucing up with new carpet, bedding, curtains - but other than cosmetically it was comfortable enough.

Review 75:Made sure we had a first floor room with fairly easy access for our elderly parents. There was ample room for sleeping for all 4 of us.

Review 76:Staff. They called me 5mins before we got to hotel and told me they no longer had a room for me after I had reserved a room. This was at 12:03am and we had two screaming kids in car from long drive and they said they had given up our room. I told him we were about to pull in and he said "sorry, can't help you". The. After 40 mins of driving and trying to find another hotel guy called back and said "we now have a room for you" really?!?!? So unreliable. Still heated over the whole thing.

Review 77:trashcan outside door #2 could have been emptied sooner (it was overflowing on a tuesday night)

Review 78:-friendly staff all around -GREAT directional signs ALL over the hotel to tell the guests where to find various rooms and amenities -great coffee/tea/microwave/frig in each room! -great location for the UnivDelaware visitor

Review 79:Everything was great except the fan from the A/C heater unit blows right on the bed, no way to adjust it Also there was no fan button to set and let run for noise. During the night we could hear guests in another room

Review 80:The property is very old and needs gutting. Our room smelled like a smoker's room, even though it wasn't. Laundry facilities were broken. Our TV in the room kept breaking.

Review 81:The location and breakfast included in the price was the only good thing.

Review 82:The Location is perfect. I stay here a lot when I play paintball in the area. Very conveniently located. There's plenty of places to eat nearby and it pretty quiet there.

Review 83:I disliked someone's car lights shinning in the room in the middle of the night when we were trying to sleep. I also disliked how loud housekeeping was in the morning.

Review 84:I liked the fact we had free wifi.

Review 85:You can hear every sound in the halls, even from the floors above. The bed was way too firm, I think a log would have been softer. For one night, it was fine, but for an extended stay, I would consider elsewhere.

Review 86:The location was great, and easily accessible to where we needed to go. It's pretty basic, which is fine for the cost.

Review 87:When I arrived in the evening after driving for 4 hours and for some reason my credit card keep declining. So, I offered to pay in cash. Being in town for only one night I had about $150 in cash. The hotel policy is to require a $100 deposit for cash customer. Being unable to check with the bank I asked if they would be willing to take an in-print of the card instead of a deposit. They were not willing to do so. I think this policy needs to be posted on the online reservation page. If I was aware of the policy I would have brought more money.

Review 88:The price was reasonable for the one night stay. When I booked the reservation it didn't require a credit card for this process.

Review 89:Staff were very good across the Board from the woman on front desk to cleaning and Breakfast staff. Also as it was under challenging snow conditions a snow plough cleared the car park making it safe for guests. Well done and thank you

Review 90:Can't really complain about anything, except the desk chair which wasn't too clean. We had to place a clean towel in the seat. Otherwise, no other complaints.

Review 91:The room was nice and quaint and included essentials, such as a microwave and refrigerator, which allowed us to cut cost for food. Also, appreciated the free, continental breakfast.

Review 92:The tub didn't drain and the shower pressure was so strong it stung my skin. By the end of my shower I had standing water up to my knees. The room was very dark with little natural or artificial light and just seemed unkempt.

Review 93:Free wifi

Review 94:Shower faucet handle was broken, burn mark on toilet seat, alarm went off in room next door at 3am, snacks not available throughout the hotel had to go to the lobby.

Review 95:Low rate, decent location, Big rooms, free breakfast and polite staff

Review 96:The amount of the room w/ tax all of a sudden went up at check in. They didn't even have my reservation. The first room we were put in had a roach crawling on the wall the tub would not stop running and the lights barely wanted to work. We were put into another room the toilet and tub had permanant brown stains on them and the sink was already wet! We didnt even shower during the stay, we just went home. NEVER AGAIN!

Review 97:There was a refrigerator and a microwave.

Review 98:When we ran out of towels we had to go to the main desk which was in a different building (I would assume we could have called but we did not think of that until after)

Review 99:The shower had great pressure and hot water. Free wifi, nice TV with plenty of channels and the bed was fine.

Review 100:Décor was dated but they are having a refurb soon Mr Patel told us.

Review 101:The hotel is close to University Of Delaware, and approx 35min drive to Lincoln University, close to shops and restaurants, some in walking distance. It has a fridge and microwave as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The beds are large. Mr Patel GM and his team were always there to help with any needs we had.

Review 102:Couldn't see out the window - streaked, dirty. Also used coffee filter left in the coffee pot - we wondered if the room was actually cleaned. Rug needed to be vacuumed. Also, looked on the internet and the room was quoted cheaper for the same night. I have pictures of the windows and coffee filter.

Review 103:Not enough lighting, poorly placed tv, dropped ceiling in the bathroom was sagging and looked dirty probably because there was no fan in the bathroom.

Review 104:I wouldn't have wanted to stay multiple nights but we were only in town for one night so it was ok. The bed was pretty comfortable.

Review 105:This was a really nice motel. We felt welcomed, the facilities gave us everything we hoped for. The WiFi was good. The breakfast was good. There was good coffee in the room. The refrigerator and microwave were a good size and worked well.

Review 106:I needed to request a new room because both the deadbolt lock and the chain lock in the first room I was given were broken. The light in the bathroom didn't work.

Review 107:Wasp nest outside my window was pretty scary. Burn holes all over the room. Missing a remote for the tv.

Review 108:Hotel location was pretty quiet for a college town.

Review 109:The fridge temp was too cold for rm 249. Stayed in rm 252 & there cld of been more towels 1 looked dirty. 249 needed more towels too and the balcony has old beer cans out there. Over all for price it was good

Review 110:The price was good I had room for family and choose y his because it was the best rate.

Review 111:There were stickers on my window, the lamps on the bed wouldn't turn on. I had to use the other lamp. The alarm clock went off at 2 in the morning for no reason. And I got a paper that said breakfast 7-10 on weekends, got there at 9:27 and they were closed.

Review 112:Bed was comfy, tv was good, clean for the most part

Review 113:The furniture was very sticky. The tub had some questionable cleaning (look to have black mold). the curtains had rips in them. The wife was not satisfied with the room.

Review 114:The bed was comfortable

Review 115:I booked 2 rooms for our family; when we arrived the rooms were located at the opposite ends of the hotel. The 3 children had a "suite", where the wifi did not work and no sheets and towels for the 3rd one were provided. At the reception we were told that These problems could not be solved at the same day but at the earliest on the next day. Sheets and towels were not provided over the 3 day stay.

Review 116:Lots of noise from highway and train Room was way over-deodorized -- we had to air it out awhile Had to set A/C much lower than the actual temperature desired to get it to cool the room

Review 117:Room was clean and stocked Cleaning staff were friendly Next to Friendly's restaurant and convenient to I-95

Review 118:Privacy of the pool area it was not enclosed enough you felt that you were in Friendly's parking lot

Review 119:Comfort of the room Cleanliness of the room Cleanliness of the pool area Great continental breakfast .. plenty of choices. Nice open parking area.

Review 120:Some dogs barking No elevators Towels thin and not many of them

Review 121:Comfortable king bed Large room Good included breakfast Great coffee Excellent price Very good location No animal smell

Review 122:I didn't like that the room wasn't clean very well. When we got there it feel like someone just left the room. The bathroom was a mess. And it had a funny smells. I guess because the room was smoking and at the time of my booking you people didn't have non-smoking room. available.

Review 123:The place was very nice. What I like was breakfast was included, it was free parking and it was very reasonable.

Review 124:The tub wouldn't drain at all. Ended up with no shower for the day. There was a very rude guest on the same floor that decided 5:30am was a good time to start an argument that found itself in the main hallway outside my room. The same guest followed up with her fight in the breakfast area. Because I felt uncomfortable speaking to the manager, I did fill out a comment card describing my experience.

Review 125:The area the hotel is located is nice and very close to the University of Delaware. Also, close proximity to I-95 and the Christiana Mall.

Review 126:My room smelt like someone urinated on the carpet. However, I believe that their was a problem with the toilet at some point, and they couldn't wait long enough between patrons to clean things properly. Hopefully rm 233 gets that attention it needs, in order to get an excellent rating from the next patrons.

Review 127:The price, staff, pool, breakfast, and proximity to UOD.

Review 128:As stated above.. Also bathtub was not so clean

Review 129:Location was convenient to highway, staff was cery courteous and helpful. Inn was noisy. People on either side if us were shouting and jumping. Kids were climbing bars in hallways! Realize some of these things are out of staffs control

Review 130:This hotel used to be a Howard Johnson and it seems like all they did was change the name. Nothing about the hotel reminds me of a Red Roof Inn. The hotel is in serious need of upgrades to the entire facility. Needs to take on the Red Roof Inn image.

Review 131:Convenient location off the highway. Convenient location in relation to the University of Delaware.

Review 132:1- The room was really bad. 2- The ceiling of the bathroom leaking from the second floor, also the bathroom ceiling is really disgusting. 3- The employee in the font-disk is not cooperated. 4- The pictures of the rooms were fake in the website.

Review 133:I just like the location of this hotel.

Review 134:No compliants

Review 135:Great room large very update.
