Reviews for Northstar California Resort
Review 1:Murphy Bed got stuck and we had hard time pulling down-but eventually did. The fireplace - even though it says to turn on "Very Slowly" the flash of fire was a big surprise and scared us. Really wish we could have found a paved path from the condo to the Village without having to walk along the busy road at night.
Review 2:I liked that the kitchen was stocked with basic necessities to cook. Close location to the Village. It was roomy enough. I really like the easy access to the condo with the code and made it easy to check out as well! It's nice we got tix to the ice rink and passes to the Rec center.
Review 3:Property is very outdated for the money, The heater downstairs where the rooms are wasn't working, We are talking about cold nights, upstairs was super hot where the kitchen and living room are, For the money we paid we won't stay here again Plus : it was quite Shuttle was close but it was super cold and snowy to wait for it
Review 4:Check in and check out was easy and the staff super friendly and helpful
Review 5:Heat distribution was very poor. Bags of linen blocking the door when we arrived and were there all night. Check in gave us the wrong code to get in.
Review 6:Sled run for the kids behind the unit
Review 7:The check in process was very strange, located offsite and a ways away from the property.
Review 8:The room was nice and clean and comfortable. Nice mountain home charm. Walking distance to the village and shops.
Review 9:We went during a quiet time (mid Sept) - if you do too make sure that you check the opening times of the front desk and restaurants. We had 3 people in a one bed apartment and the sofa bed was seriously uncomfortable.
Review 10:Lovely resort
Review 11:We were in a bottom unit and could hear the people above us walking and using the water
Review 12:The condo was beautiful in a wonderful location. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 13:The rooms are very dated, mid 70's style, old type of carpet, old furniture, etc.
Review 14:This is a great location, not to far from Donner or Tahoe lakes. Not much traffic in the immediate area.
Review 15:There is no where to eat breakfast at the resort, unless you drive down to the golf course. The food options were very limited and pricey. They need at least one good breakfast/lunch/dinner option. I can't do pizza and Mexican food every night, and we don't care for sushi. It would be nice to have a traditional breakfast restaurant and a steakhouse. We are in the mountains; we want to eat!
Review 16:Beautiful facilities. Beautiful location. Pool and hot tub area are fabulous. Loved the trampoline for the kids. Loved roller skating and mini golf.
Review 17:The light fixture on the first floor hallway not only had cobwebs but at least several days worth of dead bugs. Didn't inspire much confidence in overall cleanliness.
Review 18:Front desk staff was friendly and able to assist us though we couldn't get to the location before the front desk closed.
Review 19:Four of us stayed and all four of us tripped one way or another getting out of the shower, with one kid falling. No one got hurt, but could have easily. Maybe a note on the side of the tub is needed.....the step out is extra high.
Review 20:Loved being at Northstar. The village was just a walk away. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in our room (only to sleep one night), but overall, it was comfortable.
Review 21:We didn't realise that it was just an office you checked in to so took awhile to find it. It would have helped if they had pointed that out on the booking form and that it was on the corner as the signage was not obvious. At night it would be even more difficult.
Review 22:The convenience to the village was great. It was a 5 minute walk.
Review 23:One of the reasons I chose Northstar Condos, was because it was within the resort and the room supposedly came with access to hot tub/gym facilities. Upon checking in, i found out that this place is not very convenient. The check in office is at one location, then they give you a map and tell you where your condo is. While the condo comes with access to a hot tub, the actual hot tub/spa facilities are located all the way in the Northstar Village (about 1/4 mile away in 30 degree weather). And on top of that, you'd have to pay $2/person to go in and extra for towels. I don't know who would want to go through all that trouble. When we got to our condo, we noticed that it has not been cleaned (dirty dishes in the sink, messy beds, cleaning report card that stated it was last cleaned about a week prior to our arrival). Called the front office, and they were nice enough to find another condo for us to stay at. We originally booked the studio condo and because of all the trouble, they upgraded us to the 1 bedroom condo. As they were busy, we had a choice of either waiting for them to bring us the new keys in about 30 minutes, or drive back to the front office and get them ourselves, which is what we did. Then, of course, the new condo was on the whole other side of Northstar. It also came with access to the hot tub but that was still over 1/4 mile away. Overall, I'm fairly disappointed. They really shouldn't advertise that the room comes with access to spa facility when the facility is not that close (considering the weather)
Review 24:it was decent. the staff was nice. somewhat close to the village. The full size kitchen in the condo was very convenient.
Review 25:Shuttle to the Ski slope was great. Twin beds for the kids & having 2 bathrooms was what we needed. We were able to stay warm even when it was freezing outside. Wood-burning Fireplce was also nice!
Review 26:The bed in the master bedroom seemed old. It saved in the center
Review 27:The condo was georgous and I couldn't wait to get back to it agree each day we were out enjoying the lake.
Review 28:It is pricey so if you dont actually fill up the beds (divide up the price) the location is pretty expensive even during the summer.
Review 29:Great location and easy to get to. Came here for Tough Mudder and is a must book if youre staying here for the summer nights.
Review 30:The two restaurants in the village were excellent but expensive.
Review 31:We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom condo just above the village. The kids had their own room and bath on the second floor as well as their own TV. Nice golf course. The grille at the clubhouse serves a good breakfast (otherwise it's just Starbucks for breakfast). Numerous firepits around the skating rink were festive.
Review 32:I thought the condo was dark, always had to have lights on. I think a little more cleaning, ie, the blinds were very dusty and bathroom rugs didn't look freshly laundered. Outside, on porch, there was a lot of dog fur. But, the condo had everything we needed, which was nice.
Review 33:We thought the village and the pool area were just lovely and just right for the children.
Review 34:Hours of stores at village - open a little too late if you're trying to get out early to do stuff and close a little too early
Review 35:So comfortable we felt like we were at home! Great pool facilities and grounds - so peaceful.
Review 36:The dinner possibilities in the Village are limited to fast food. You would expect a few good restaurants.
Review 37:Very nice and spacy condo. The recreation facilities with pool, fitness and tennis courts are great. Fitness is sport school professional and extensive. Great golf course with very friendly personel. Although booking.com said no WIFI available, there was WIFI both in the condo and at the pool!
Review 38:We were here on business and only stayed 2 nights. The access from our room to the Village was perfect just as the web pictures showed online . Our parking was close with easy access to an elevator. The Village was clean and all the shop employees were very accommodating. The Village was a great place to hang out and relax.
Review 39:Rooms are small and stuffy with no AC or fans too cool down the unit. My husband and I also booked a 2 bedroom. Our condo was located off Big Springs road Gold Bend unit 5053. This condominium was very difficult for my 89 yr. old father as it had steep stairs and no bathroom upstairs. I guess I should have specified our needs for my father. This unit was also very hot. My husband and I had to sleep in lousy pull-out single beds witch threw my back out. The kitchen was very well stocked and I enjoyed cooking in it.
Review 40:The pool and tennis courts are fantastic.
Review 41:Best mini vacation. Kids loved it!!
Review 42:the condo was right on the Ski Trail! It was awesome!
Review 43:Walls were thin and could hear the people next door all night
Review 44:Location was great and shuttles to the village were very convient
Review 45:Restaurants and activities located in resort.
Review 46:Great facilities.
Review 47:the location was great and peaceful.
Review 48:Comfortable place after a day of Shredding! Very nice pool facility.
Review 49:Great place, close to town square.
Review 50:Full resort. Everything you needed in one place.
Review 51:I like the lodge location because there were many hiking trails next to it. It seems like a camping area.
Review 52:Not cheap for older rooms
Review 53:Location is amazing for the bike park
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Everything!
Review 56:Northstar location to Lake Tahoe North Shore and Truckee is excellent.
Review 57:Not a big deal, but no bowls in kitchen and reg coffee.
Review 58:The unit was super clean and had nice amenities.
Review 59:There are no comments available for this review
Review 60:Need a place to put suitcases and clothes. Closet locked and had to set suitcases on dining table. Other than that, quite nice.
Review 61:Expensive for an older room.
Review 62:Location is great. Close to village and ski slopes.
Review 63:The wood cabin atmosphere
Review 64:Heater is too noisy in the room. A bit pricy.
Review 65:Feeling like being in a chalet. Short shuttle distance to the village.
Review 66:The heating vent over your head that blew all night in the master. Very loud and constant. Stopped for 10 secs and started all over again.
Review 67:Everything
Review 68:Well organized resort Good restaurants
Review 69:Great value for the money. Much to do outdoors and nice recreation center.
Review 70:Expensive
Review 71:Love the convenience of the shops art the village. Liked the skating rink area by the bar and lounging area!
Review 72:For some reason, we found tons of blankets for the sofa bed, but no sheets. It might have just been us. Also, if you go in summer, arrive with groceries as the entire shopping center is pretty much closed.
Review 73:The condos are large, comfortable and pretty well appointed. The staff was very helpful
Review 74:For the price this is a "tired" property. The inconvenience of not having an on-site check room in the village for luggage on early checkin is inexcusable. Further the notion of coming down to the front desk on Hwy 267 is preposterous. That can be a 2 hour round trip from the village in traffic!
Review 75:Location
Review 76:We did not enjoy our stay at the condo we were in. Over priced, lacked drapes/shade, no inside door mat, shower and sink drains not working properly, couches uncomfortable.
Review 77:The masterbed was comfortable and fireplace was working, which was nice.
Review 78:No room service. Long time for staff to respond cause the cabin is far away.
Review 79:Peaceful. Beautiful openness. Spacious room. Cosy environment. Close to ski resort. Mountain view.
Review 80:Not affordable beginners ski lessons for adults.
Review 81:Very friendly, accomodating staff. Kids loved the snow. Affordable big clean cabins. Affordable ski lessons for kids. Great, friendly ski instructors.
Review 82:Way over priced on everything. $32 for 4 trip of tubing, over $600 for one room 3day stay. Too many cloth store, people bring their own cloths, what we need is more of different kinds of restaurants or places to eat. I am not sure if I will plan to stay more than a day.
Review 83:Ski and skating area near by our room. having fire around the playing are and small bars everywhere was nice. Great place for a day trip.
Review 84:I didn't like how my account was over charged and I couldn't getmy money back asap. Waiting for a mistake that was their fault sucked.
Review 85:Location! This place was amazing. We were close to it all. The snow, Thevillage, and the shuttle. We would totally go back again
Review 86:A toilet next door ran all night making sleep difficult, we made a reservation for handicapped and they told us they did not get the request (it was on our reservation) they upgraded us to a room with an elevator, the shower and toilet were not handicapped.
Review 87:Nice enough room, comfortable beds, fairly clean, (bathroom flooring old and stained with a hole in one place.)
Review 88:-Not close enough to northstar -decor was old -little expensive -parking- friends couldn't come visit, they had to take a shuttle
Review 89:-close as I could get -clean -staff was nice -quiet
Review 90:room was very small and felt like it was out of the 1970's. When we looked around, most of the lodging there is new and looks very comfortable. We must have been in the oldest building. Shower temp went from ice cold to very hot every 5 seconds.
Review 91:Location, location, location.
Review 92:Not a big deal but I didn't find the check in lobby easily. I had to ask Hyatt regency staff and they told me how its by highway 267 at the bottom. I think the signs pointing out where the units are could have been better.
Review 93:Cleanliness Quiet Staff Proximity to resort
Review 94:The beds were extremely uncomfortable. There were 8 of us and not one ofus got a decent night's sleep. The day we were leaving, I flippedback the sheets and found sheets that had dried blood stains on themwhere my eight-year-old daughter slept. Definitely not from her. Spent$1300 for two nights. Although I had a great time with my family, thesethings definitely stood out in my mind.
Review 95:They didn't tell us about sledding for kids under 3 ft tall tilafter we paid $30 for 1 hour of tubing! The room wasn't ready whenwe arrived.
Review 96:I loved the resort it had wonderful food and everyone was very helpfuland friendly!
Review 97:Not to many resturant s were open
Review 98:Great activities for young children.
Review 99:No a thing!
Review 100:Everything! Well appointed, affordable, unbeatable location, great amenities!
Review 101:Unit dated and very dark. Expected much better for over $250 per night
Review 102:The room was pricey for what you get.
Review 103:convienince of being right at the ski resort for our stay.
Review 104:The booking service, which gave me a snapshot view of the accommodations, kept changing while I was researching. Occupancy, bedding etc.
Review 105:Location.
Review 106:Great friendly ski place.
Review 107:Very confusing for first time visitors!! From check in, parking, find your building! Rooms are too old and overpriced!!
Review 108:Excellent vacation ! An all in one place, with many things to do!
