Reviews for White Mountain Hotel and Resort

Review 1:When I booked the room it advertised panoramic views of the mountains, but that was not the case. Not a big deal, but was slightly disappointed

Review 2:The hotel was very nice and clean, and was very close to many attractions

Review 3:The room had water stain and chipping paint on the ceiling, and should not have been rented until repaired.

Review 4:The Holiday Ambiance was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, Staff was very helpful, food delicious.

Review 5:The bed was very hard & rather uncomfortable (though in all fairness, I am used to sleeping on a TempurPedic mattress). One of the rooms near-by had issues with the heat/A/C - it made very loud & obnoxious noises whenever it kicked on, woke us up in the middle of the night a few times.

Review 6:The Ledges restaurant was fantastic. Delicious gourmet food, really nice atmosphere (piano player in the dining room, beautiful panoramic mountain views) & the Sunday Brunch spread was quite impressive & very reasonably priced. Spa services were also great - my 80 minute warm stone massage was amazing - though a bit odd that the "spa" a is random semi-converted guest room on the 2nd floor. The setting of the hotel is just gorgeous, nestled in the valley with all the mountains surrounding, and very close to the main strip/town center in N. Conway.

Review 7:Lack of car parking space. Had to walk a long way sometimes from the car. But if somewhere is popular you have to expect this.

Review 8:Reception staff and restaurant staff were generally very helpful, bubbly and attentive. It made a big positive difference to our visit.

Review 9:Being reminded that tips were not included with the inclusive breakfast, dont tell me something I already knew, it confirmed I would not leave a tip no matter the level of service.

Review 10:Everything, I loved this hotel and the level of service and luxury.

Review 11:The building is always super warm, had to sleep with the window open, in November!

Review 12:The people are very nice and accommodating. Rooms are clean and the food is good.

Review 13:Room we had was subject to noise from an ice machine next door, reception offered a move but it was not really worth it for one night

Review 14:An grand older hotel but very comfortable with a great bar and restaurant. The grounds are magnificent and full of great walks

Review 15:Just had tough time with room temperature control - but no big deal. Opened the windows.

Review 16:Charming place, love the closeness to North Conway business area but far away to enjoy peace and quiet. Excellent breakfast options, had dinner on Saturday night at hotel which was excellent.

Review 17:the dinner was ok the salad was not great my tenderloin and shrimp was fair but the lamb was awesome

Review 18:The location was great and the breakfast each morning was very good the staff was super friendly and helpful

Review 19:Had a little difficulty finding the turnoff to the resort itself as the signage was obscured in the direction we were driving and the resort can't be seen from the road.

Review 20:Stayed in a king room 2 nights to see the fall. Large rooms, decore a little tired however very comfortable. Restaurant and bar very good. Played golf on the adjacent course which was spectacular due to fall folliage. Staff very courteous and helpful.

Review 21:That we had to leave after 2 days.

Review 22:Fantastic location. Great place to explore the White Mountains . Awsome breakfast and enjoyed the personal attention.

Review 23:A traveler with us really wanted to say there, so we actually made it the destination of our trip and built our trip around it. I just believe it was nice, but not exactly what we are expecting. I guess because it was more remote it seemed to have an older crowd. Plus it seemed more of a golfing resort, and we don't golf

Review 24:We liked the setting and the location

Review 25:Great facilities, surroundings and views. Good restaurant and bar onsite. Further bars and restaurants just a few minutes away by car. As is the scenic railway and the town of North Conway

Review 26:The seating hostess at breakfast had a shocking attitude for someone in her position! There was a definite lack of genuine service from quite a few staff members - very much a case of "lip service".. Having been in the hospitality industry in the Okavango Delta we were quite shocked at the poor service within this hotel!

Review 27:Beautiful Setting and magnificent surrounding estate

Review 28:Everything about the resort was class.Food was excellent quality and value for money. The Hotel ,its backdrop and surrounding panorama views were outstanding.

Review 29:The hotel is getting a bit tatty around the edges. Main issue was being told several times at check in that the breakfast wss in with the rate but the gratuity was not

Review 30:Thought restaurant too expensive. Also service very poor. Our second night we went into town and got a great meal/drinks and good service for a fraction of the price!

Review 31:Location good - only a short drive into town. Very clean good facilities.

Review 32:EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS JUST BREATH TAKING.... THE VIEW WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. THE STAFF WERE WONDERFUL. THE PLACE WAS SPOTLESS. WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK AND STAY AGAIN.

Review 33:The location is ideal and great views from all rooms. The rooms clean and staff very pleasant and helpful. Great for celebrating a special occasion..

Review 34:Queuing for breakfast, when busy.

Review 35:Great location for what we wanted to do as late Summer visitors. Front desk staff were really helpful in sorting out a longer stay. Met folks who keep coming back - a really good sign :-)

Review 36:We missed the turn off even with gps. Look for a sign that says hotelbigger than white mountain.

Review 37:All staff took an interest in our enjoyment. Our dinner wasabsolutely incredible (baked haddock and lump crab cakes) andbreakfast was also a "10". The flowers were stunning and wedid use the pool and fire pit. True attention to detail made thismemorable. Don't miss it

Review 38:Beautiful surroundings, central location, breakfast was excellent- which was unexpected given it was included. Dinner in taverns was delicious as well, lobster roll was as good as any I've had in Maine! Service was pleasant, but kitchen was slow (dinner).

Review 39:Wish the mattress in the room was better - although this could be related to us hiking up mt Washington!

Review 40:Excellent food , beautiful hotel, gardens and view of the mountains.located near the main road but tucked away nicely, very good 9 hole golf course on premises , we will definitely go back

Review 41:Short staffed...fire pit not open...elevator wasn't working...bad experience in the tavern with service...we waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged but in that time many others sat and got service. A little rude when I mentioned it to the bartender

Review 42:Beautiful location

Review 43:The only complaint is the regular size bed, rather than a queen size (as we had in past visits). The mattress was so uncomfortable.

Review 44:Friendly staff, cleanliness, great breakfast, beautiful location, lovely flowers, very peaceful and relaxing.

Review 45:Had to leave!!

Review 46:The location. It was peaceful and relaxing. The views are stunning. The size of the hotel is just perfect so as not to feel overwhelmed by other guests.

Review 47:I had an internet access problem which they took care of with the router.

Review 48:For breakfast, they give you a voucher for anything on the menu. Breakfast is a first class quality meal and not the typical meals that you get elsewhere. Second, the waiters are professional or career waiters. Part of it is the White Mountain economy. Regardless, they are personal, professional and very good at what they do.

Review 49:Only downfall....hallways need to be air conditioned. Very stuffy & warm, especially when u walk out of your air conditioned room.

Review 50:Location beautiful, nice pool area, room was very nice....bed very cozy! Food was outstanding...we ate breakfast, lunch & dinner there. Staff was wonderful & very accommodating. Gorgeous landscaping...will definitely stay there again!

Review 51:The staff was friendly and helpful. Place was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was very good every day plus there was enough variety. Maid service was friendly. Views were great.

Review 52:It was a little tricky to find travelling south on west side road as the golf complex is advertised rather than the hotel.

Review 53:Comfortable room, peaceful location but close to all we wanted to do. Nice restaurant with wonderful views. Pool and hot tub relaxing after a day sightseeing.

Review 54:Spa wasn't really a spa, tried to call and make an appointment but couldn't get a hold of the masseuse. The wait for breakfast was a bit longer than expected, set back our day slightly.

Review 55:Everyone at the front desk was nice and accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic. Wait staff was great and friendly.

Review 56:The hotel is a little tired looking, the pool needed a clean and we didn't find one of the women working in the bar very friendly. However, the rest of the restaurant staff were lovely and couldn't fault them at all.

Review 57:This hotel is truly in an amazing location. The views were superb especially at sunset. The breakfast was included which was lovely as was the food in the restaurant. The staff on reception were so welcoming and made us feel really welcome. They also gave us great tips on where to visit in our limited time we had there. It was great to have sun loungers to relax on & having been travelling for two weeks we really appreciated the opportunity to undertake some washing in the washers/dryers provided on each level. Overall a really good experience and wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 58:On check-in we were advised that the room rate did not include a tip for breakfast - not a great start to our visit. The room was cold - and the boiler had been turned off for the summer. The outside temp was 48. They had no portable heaters. Some aspects of room and public spaces a bit grubby.

Review 59:The views (assuming it is not raining and the cloud is low) would be wonderful.

Review 60:THE POOL WAS ADVERTISED AS IN USE 12 MONTHS A YEAR BUT THE WATER WAS VERY COLD

Review 61:THE SCENERY THE AMBIANCE THE LOCATION THE QUALITY OF THE MEALS THE STAFF

Review 62:There truly is nothing that we did not like.

Review 63:The brunch was beautiful to the eye and the taste was beyond expectation. It was so much more than expected. The view in the dining room is breath taking.

Review 64:Loved all if it my family had a great time the staff was very friendly and accommodating !!!! This was the first trip there for my mother the second trip for me and we will definitely return !

Review 65:I had a brief but disturbing encounter with one staff member at the front desk that put Ava's taste I my mouth until I spoke to the general manager who was very professional and accommodating

Review 66:I loved the view the food was outstanding the outdoor heated pool was a treat

Review 67:The hostess in the dining room for breakfast and brunch didn't smile & acted as though seating us at a table with a view (a couple were available) was an imposition. On Saturday, we thought maybe she was having a bad day, but she was the same at brunch on Sunday.

Review 68:Everything about the hotel is wonderful.

Review 69:A very small downfall was the room being a little too warm. We kept the heat off and cracked the window a bit. That definitely helped.

Review 70:This hotel was immaculate with a quaint and cozy feel. The food was excellent and staff were wonderful.

Review 71:Loved this place but rooms need updating as with the fitness center..

Review 72:Location, staff, price, food especially their Sunday Brunch and daily free breakfast.

Review 73:I didn't like that we couldn't control the heat. The room was very hot and dry. We went to use the pool early afternoon and it was covered.

Review 74:The hotel is in a great location. we went to go snoshoeing. We were able to go across the street from the hotel. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was great.

Review 75:Place smelled of water damage mold. Place needs face lift inside how Long has it been. Kids week and they kept closing pool

Review 76:Liked my room keeper she did good job. View was nice. Food was tasty.Bar keep was nice. Staff was generally friendly.

Review 77:i wish I could have stayed longer!

Review 78:Great place to stay, I can't wait to go back! The view from our room was gorgeous. I could see Cranmore mountain from my bed!

Review 79:that I couldn't stay more than two nights !!!!!!

Review 80:the facility and staff were EXCELLENT... had a superior king room on top floor with view looking toward cranmore and N. Conway village....VERY CLEAN. there is a GREAT tavern in the inn to have a drink and dinner after a long day of being outdoors !!!!! outdoor hot tub is GREAT also...OVERALL I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO BE AWAY FROM THE TRAFFIC.. YOU WONT REGRET IT !!!!!!

Review 81:I honestly can't think of anything

Review 82:....and this hotel delivered big time. The staff was incredibly gracious, Maureen at the front desk helped with everything , from giving us some great advice about local attractions to sorting out a dinner reservation. Dennis the manager personally made sure we had a beautiful dinner on our last night even though due to our late reservation, we almost missed it. The heated pool is a do not miss, after a day of snowmobiling and tubing, to be sitting in that pool under the stars was simply amazing. The king suite was cozy, clean and very romantic. I couldn't have asked for more

Review 83:Just a tip - Satnav takes you past entrance and travelling from North Conway you can't see the hotel sign. Realising we'd gone wrong we retraced route and it was clear to see when travelling in opposite direction

Review 84:Long picturesque drive up to hotel. Friendly staff and really nice that the Manager was always about and making sure that things ran well. Ate in the Bar and the Restaurant - same menu in both and the food was very good. Comfy beds - loved our stay

Review 85:We booked a Superior King room. The room itself was fine, but not impressive. Had I known, I wouldn't have added the extra charge for the king and gotten a single queen room instead. Just not worth it. The quality and appearance of the room left much to be desired as the plaster on the walls in both the main room and bathroom were cracked/peeling and marked all over. Hairs from a previous guest were also decorating the shower walls. The hotel site does not mention that the golf course/country club uses the hotel as the "club house". Even the pro shop is in the hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel in general was "stuffy". Majority of the guests we saw were probably 45+ and as a young couple, although we didn't mind, we felt out of place. We went to eat in the Tavern our first night and everyone was dressed in "business casual" attire with sports coats and slacks. Definitely not a place I wanted to be after traveling for 3 1/2 hours and wanting a quick meal before bed. The hotel was fine, especially since we didn't spend much time there. But as a young couple, we won't be staying there again.

Review 86:The hotel location was great. It is only a few short minutes from the center of town and close to some of the great attractions the areas has to offer (Diana's Bath, Cathedral Ledge, Echo Lake). The views surrounding the hotel were beautiful. The sheer quietness and peacefulness of the area definitely added to the "mountain getaway" feel. All in all the outside of the hotel was lovely.

Review 87:Sunday brunch was very busy and not a good time to arrive at the hotel

Review 88:Location next to a golf course means that you are away from busy roads - and have nice views to the mountains. Food in the restaurant was good as was the service both here and in the hotel in general

Review 89:Over priced. You were paying for amenities heated pool sauna, etc. that we just didn't use. Not really good for a one nite stay.

Review 90:Views were wonderful. Food good but not great

Review 91:Coffee was not replenished and used cups and glasses were not replaced with clean ones.

Review 92:The view was wonderful. The location is excellent because it is not in all the craziness, but it is close enough to North Conroy to shop easily and close enough to Mt. Washington, waterfalls and covered bridges to see the sights.

Review 93:There was nothing NOT to like at White Mountain Resort.

Review 94:For the price we paid it was absolutely perfect in every way. On a 10 day trip we booked almost every hotel on booking.com and this one was the best deal overall. Well above average.

Review 95:Little difficult to find. GPS doesn't work well in this area and we found the signage for the resort lacking.

Review 96:Beautiful surroundings, great food, staff very friendly and helpful

Review 97:Everything was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was outstanding! Martinis were delicious and unique. Panoramic views of Mt. Cranmore and White Mountains, from the dining room, lounge and deck and our room. Pool warm and clean, hot tub hot and clean. Rooms comfortable and spotless. Excellent location, convenient to white mountains and downtown North Conway. Can't wait to return.

Review 98:The kids game room was very minimal, and the pool was showing its age. Even though they said the pool was heated the water was freezing.

Review 99:The location was beautiful and the grand view from the restaurant was great.

Review 100:The guests who were there for a wedding talking outside after midnight for what seemed like forever. Not really the hotel's fault.

Review 101:Pretty much everything!

Review 102:Beautiful grounds, quiet location, quaint elegance. The restaurant served fabulous food with the most beautiful views! I will certainly return. Everyone was friendly and accommodating.

Review 103:You can tell that they pick thier staff carefully. All very friendly & helpful. We managed to get the only room with a balcony so that made a big difference too. It has great views. Highly recommended.

Review 104:The only thing we did not like was we did not feel comfortable swimming in the pool or using the hot tub because there were babies in both that were wearing diapers. There really should be a sign stating no babies in the hot tub.

Review 105:What I liked best is that the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The beds were wonderful and the food was very good. We would stay here again and my family can be very picky.

Review 106:The front desk check in girl. The rest of the staff was amazing, Daisy and Kim!!!

Review 107:The accommodations and the staff, the food was very good and the location was just enough out of the town that made the visit and easy one

Review 108:Beds were uncomfortable. Rooms a bit small. Pool was very cloudy and dirty with grass ,leaves, bugs I wanted to get my own net to skim the pool!

Review 109:Location and scenery were magnificent. Every staff member that we encountered was helpful and courteous and happy!

Review 110:Restaurant was very pricey. Hot tub could have been cleaner. Air conditioner in room was very loud.

Review 111:Location was fantastic! The trails around the hotel were beautiful. Close to town and Mt. Washington.

Review 112:Entrance was not well marked. We arrived in the evening and had a tough time finding the hotel. Air conditioning was old and did not work well. I would have liked more notice of the ending of the breakfast buffet on Sunday. Customer service could have been better. We had a death in the family and needed to switch the reservation. I got two answers and was unable to switch the date s.

Review 113:Gentleman that brought our bags to the room and was taking care of the fire pit was very nice. View was beautiful. Breakfast buffet was great.

Review 114:Proposed to my girlfriend during my stay . Everyone was more than accomodating . The entire experience from the food to the room to the scenery makes this a must return for us for the rest of our lives ....thank you

Review 115:The room was freezing when we arrived and we couldn't figure out the wall unit to increase the temperature.

Review 116:The food was good and dinner staff very friendly. It was nice and quiet with great views

Review 117:Breakfast included.

Review 118:The food was extremely expensive we both got scallops just ok

Review 119:Very friendly staff. Beautiful location. Loverly and good value Sunday brunch.

Review 120:Wonderful staff! The restaurant was an unexpected pleasure, terrific menu and great food.

Review 121:plain rooms.

Review 122:Very professional staff. Great location and views.

Review 123:the location. it was just surrounded by utter beauty. Rooms were ok, nothing special. Food was good.

Review 124:I loved the location and friendliness of the staff.

Review 125:Location, heated pool and comfortable beds

Review 126:We had such a great time

Review 127:Location, bar & restaurant were nice

Review 128:Robes and bottled water in the refrigerator would have been a nice touch.

Review 129:Beautiful location!!
