Reviews for Beachside Motel - Amelia Island

Review 1:Water was not very hot when we were showering before departure; I know that many guests were departing at that time also, so this probably contributed to the lack of hot water.

Review 2:Great renovation to an older property. Very comfortable, clean, staff was kind and willing to work with us on early check-in needs during a very busy weekend.

Review 3:I was on a motorcycle trip for 5 days (Daytona Biketoberfest for 2 nights) and stayed at a few other places but this one was by far the most enjoyable. Access to the beach and other sites in Fernandina was very good.

Review 4:The bed was old and make a lot of noise each movement and the room has the old odor that we had to buy a room freshener to have a fresher smell in it.

Review 5:The staff was so nice and helpful, the room was clean.

Review 6:Right beside the beach, nice pool at edge of dunes, spacious, comfortable room, kitchen facilities; 4 rooms have views out onto the ocean, others face to the north and into the carpark, upper floor has a communal balcony, better views and is breezier.

Review 7:No late check out on Sundays. It's understandable though, it's a tiny, cosy place operated by few people - they can't be there around the clock for you.

Review 8:The staff was friendly and they made sure we got the instructions for late arrival. There was a surprise tiny breakfast available after all with coffee, fruits and some pastry. The swimming pool was great and with ultimate motel vibe. Great location right at the dunes with nice view on the sea

Review 9:The bed was a little hard and there's no microwave in room.

Review 10:Exceptionally clean. Wonderful friendly staff. Sweets and coffee offered in the mornings and the coffee was good. Overall a sweet place to stay and good value.

Review 11:Pool decking was pretty dirty (tile lining the pool right above the water line). Path to beach needs to be redone with perhaps wood to walk on? Need to replace all carpet in room with tile....would be much easier for housekeeping to keep clean.

Review 12:Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Cleaning staff were very friendly.

Review 13:Sure wish smoking wasn't allowed. We had to leave the pool whenever someone lit up because it was disgusting. Would rather pets were allowed!

Review 14:Very close to the beach, nice staff, breakfast treats were a nice surprise, clean rooms, nice pool.

Review 15:The motel is a little dated, and the door lock was sketchy. It locked, but didn't seem very secure. I also returned to my room after the maid had serviced it and the door was left unlocked! Some amenities left a bit to be desired. TV was limited in channel selection and the pool area is pretty small. Not sure this is the best choice for the price paid, but I was in a hurry.

Review 16:This place is right on the beach, so if you just want quick access to the ocean -- it's great. Staff was friendly and polite. The room was very clean.

Review 17:the beds were too hard ..only one ice machine and it was down stairs.. there was suppose to be breakfast but we only tried one morning and the office was nearly an hour late opening and we went out instead and didnt really ck it out on the other days we were thee

Review 18:one the beach, great accommodations, loved the kitchen, so very convenient, and The Surf is right across the street if you don't want to cook, wonderful sized room

Review 19:The one thing that was slightly inconvenient was that the hotel is a half hour walk from everything else ( though there is a great restaurant across the road). Taxis are hard to come by on the island. However, once you've walked half and hour, there is a bike rental shop on the island and for 15 dollars, you can rent a bike for the day- a bike Is a great way to see Amelia island.

Review 20:When you arrive at Beachside Motel Inn, you take a walk back through time to a bygone age. The motel is the last of its type along the whole Beach strip that was once dotted with similar establishments. The rooms have been recently updated and they are beautiful and clean, the beds are comfortable and although all of reunions don't face the beach and ocean, it is literally a three minute walk to a quiet beach front. The staff are lovely- and very helpful- all residents of the island (Myra has lived on the island her whole life and is a fount of information). In all a great experience- particularly for those who like to stay off the beaten path.

Review 21:That we had to leave to go home.:(

Review 22:Comfort, great to sit and hear the ocean. Just right kitchenette. Perfect for snacks, breakfasts and coffee. The sunrise is amazing! Get that coffee going and take the path to the beach. You will start your day well.

Review 23:Not able to check in prior to 4 PM

Review 24:Staff was able to make decisions in behalf of the customer. We had an issue with linens which was immediately taken care of at 11 PM

Review 25:Great beach location, nicely maintained pool, clean rooms with frig, microwave, coffeemaker, cups, dishes etc. Convenient parking. Ideal home away from home for a beach getaway vacation.

Review 26:We are not picky and do not need the ritz to stay in. This motel met our needs perfectly. The mattreses were very comfortable. I was told they were replaced about a year ago. Slept better than i have in weeks. Very clean. I have no complaints.

Review 27:This motel was very clean and in the perfect location. Just a couple miles away from the chain motels, so you're in a more "locals" area. Not only can you walk right down the path to the beach, but you have the option of relaxing at the pool, too. Also a plus- each room has a nice sized fridge.

Review 28:The carpet was DIRTY,bathroom was very outdated, sink was dis colored and cracked, overall, spoor presentation.

Review 29:The beach was the only thing this place had going for it!!!!!

Review 30:The refrigerator in my room was making a noise and I had to unplug it at night. Not a huge problem for me though.

Review 31:The location is directly on the beach.

Review 32:It was not what I was expecting. The motel was old with new decore. The wifi wasn't working. The room was not cleaned throughly, crumbs and dirt in corners and lots of dust.

Review 33:The hotel is right on the beach, and the beach was beautiful. The room was decorated nicely. It had a fridge and microwave and a nice tv.

Review 34:Need night light for bathroom.

Review 35:Good location, like an old Fla. motel. Basically quiet even on this crazy weekend. Great value for the money. For those who don't know about a ga./Fla. game weekend, you have to be there to understand.

Review 36:No private balcony. Pool not heated.

Review 37:Location right on the beach. Nice views of the ocean. Friendly staff. Nice remodel. Quiet area for the most part. Fridge in room as well as coffee maker. Clean nonsmoking rooms.

Review 38:No breakfast, had Danish but I am diabetic so couldn't eat that. Had to be on second floor, no elevator and heavy luggage.

Review 39:Coffee in rooms, good beds, friendly staff, very clean.

Review 40:The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable and we awoke with back pains the next morning. There was no complimentary breakfast but the receptionist said they had doughnuts and coffee downstairs between a certain tie in the morning. We caught the coffee and "doughnuts" our last morning there only to find it was really cinnamon rolls from the corner store and/ Little Debbie Cakes.Very disappointed.

Review 41:The A/C worked perfectly. We are from out of state and it is extremely humid there so the A/C was greatly appreciated. There were plenty of towels and even dishware available.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:The only hotel right on the beach.Friendly staff and clean rooms. Coffee and sweet rolls for breakfast was all we wanted. Could even walk across street to dinner.

Review 44:I did not like that there was not a fitted sheet on the beds. The beds only had flat sheets which bunched up as you moved in the bed. Very uncomfortable. The floor had peanut shells on them when we did not even eat peanuts during our stay. The cover for the toilet bowl was a plastic piece. The shower curtain and shower head had soap scum build up on it. Neither had been cleaned properly in a long time. The bottom of the shower curtain was already starting to turn red from the build up on it.

Review 45:I did like that the motel is on the beach and you could see the ocean from the window. I also liked that there was a mini fridge and microwave in room.

Review 46:Older motel with aggressive price per night. You need to travel by car to restaurants, and shops. I would have stayed closer to downtown and walked to restaurants, bars, and shopping if I had know.

Review 47:Access to the beach

Review 48:The price was a little steep compared to the larger beach front condominiums in the vicinity. The refrigerator/freezer was not large enough (small college dorm size) and the office didn't want you to get hardly any ice for a small cooler, although they had no ice maker in the fridge.

Review 49:The location was excellent. The room was VERY clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The rooms look EXACTLY like the pictures, which were surprising.

Review 50:The front desk room reeked of moth balls, and so did the towels for the room. There were rat droppings on the floor between the beds and in the kitchen. The latter of which didn't occur until day two, which means that there was a live rodent in our room. One of the beds was broken, and the bathroom sink leaked. The television also did not work in the room.

Review 51:Easy beach access, decent swimming pool. Front desk staff was very kind. Good location for quiet vacation, not far from downtown shopping and restaurants.

Review 52:Felt the rooms were misrepresented on the internet. I thought we were getting a room with a private balcony and overlooking the ocean. When we got there I was told only 4 of those rooms existed and they were always booked. I had upgraded to a deluxe room so we could have a kitchenette and the refrigerator had about 3 inches of ice around the freezer compartment and did not keep our food very cold.

Review 53:Location, cleanliness, room was quiet.

Review 54:I booked a room through booking.com and ask for a beach front view and a kitchenette. What I got was a plain motel room. I had family in and out all week and it was very uncomfortable. I want be using booking.com again.

Review 55:Room was excellent. Beds comfortable for a night But not what I booked.

Review 56:The cleaning ladies were very talkative as they cleaned visitors rooms. I'm laying out by the pool listening to them complain about this room and that room. I didn't want them going into my room only to announce to the world "how disgusting these people are".

Review 57:The beach is very close and the motel has a very nice pool to relax in. My room was nice and relaxing. The women at the front desk were very nice and personable. In the morning and evening all the visitors are sitting outside and all having conversations with each other, I rather liked meeting various people in my stay there.

Review 58:We had to leave suddenly because of two sick children, the hotel manager took very good care of us and allowed us to leave without being charged. I also left my wedding ring in hotel, and it was found and shipped to me 2 days later!!! Thank you Beachside Motel

Review 70:Had to walk up 2 sets of steps to get to 2nd floor but that was ok.

Review 71:It was right on the beach.
