Reviews for Colony Inn
Review 1:Not an inn. It's a motel. Two double beds but no room on each side. Old tired decor. They don't make up the room each night. Over priced.
Review 2:Quiet
Review 3:The only thing wrong with the room was the balcony door's handle was in need of repair but that wasn't a big deal. Room rate was a bit steep but, hey, splurge once in awhile !
Review 4:Room size, balcony, proximity to the beach and eateries. Staff was excellent.
Review 5:No bad experience.
Review 6:Next to beach. Spacious living area and nice kitchen. Adequate parking, heated pool, all amenities expected are available. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 7:I had hoped we would be closer to the ocean somewhat or had a view of it but overall it was great
Review 8:The condo was gorgeous and close to a path to the ocean!
Review 9:The room was in need of an update very dirty, electric problems plumbing problems, would never stay there again
Review 10:The staff were very good and helpful close to beach
Review 11:Size of kitchen (but we knew in advance of booking)
Review 12:The apartment was so beautifully decorated. The bed was soooo big & comfy. The balcony with tables & chairs. The proximity to a lovely beach.
Review 13:arriving at 6 o'clock in the evening the reception was closed. They left instructions and key. The furniture in the veranda was poor
Review 14:very near to the sea nice heated pool
Review 15:No negatives
Review 16:The suite was lovely and had everything needed. Location was quiet but close to shops and lighthouse. Pool was great and the walk to beach just right.
Review 17:Excellent location, 4 minutes walk from the beach. Pool. Spacious apartment. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Mosquito nets on the balcony. Very silent.
Review 18:Was convenient to beach for walks at sunrise and shelling. Had small kitchen for breakfast and snacks. Lovely mature trees and plants around the grounds.
Review 19:Could have used pizza pan and cutter but otherwise it was perfect!
Review 20:My room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. I loved sitting out on the porch reading my book and having my morning coffee. I definitely will be back and can't wait to bring my friends.
Review 21:Trail to beach does not have good markings. Got lost walking on beach at night. A solor light or something would have been helpful.
Review 22:Was really clean and decor fresh and new. Bed was so comfortable. We would stay there again
Review 23:The charge for locking yourself out is $60. That is outrageous. I grabbed the wrong keys and was locked out. Worse than that, I was having an allergic reaction to medicine I take and had to take other medicine - in the room- to alleviate it. We had to wait 2 hours for someone to let us in. In the meantime my condition got worse and worse. We finally had to put an emergency call to my doctor to prescribe the med I needed. Outrageous.
Review 24:Very clean, lovely little condo. Comfortable in all ways.
Review 25:the furniture is a little dated but it didnt bother me since we just slept there. compared to other hotel prices on sanibelisland it was a good value. most important it was clean.
Review 26:close by to everything, and the rooms were clean. checkin was quick and the lady was very welcoming.
Review 27:Location was great as well as value for the rental. Loved the beach and everything was clean, staff was courteous and helpful. For a small condo, the rooms were fairly large. AC was noisy on the porch and so we didn't sit there much, and the bed could have been a little more comfortable. Overall very favorable and would return.
Review 28:Can't think of anything
Review 29:The place was extremely clean. Great location even though it was a little bit of a hike to the beach. Staff was great to deal with and everything went flawless.
Review 30:All in all it was ok but I booked a 2 double beds only got one! Cable was on one channel It wasn't programmed for cable, oh well thanks to iPhones
Review 31:The location was at the far end of the island. This was good and bad. It was close to the lighthouse and a few popular restaurants, but everything else the island had to offer was a long bike ride away.
Review 32:The cottage was fantastic. Full kitchen, dining and living room was great. It even had a small private porch with adirondack chairs perfect for sun bathing or star gazing.
Review 33:The toilet was loose, roach in the shower and wifi was not good. Off peak, there was no tours or activities.
Review 34:I loved the bright paint, furniture, and comfortable bedding. Kitchen appliances cleanness and utensils even though I didn't cook.
Review 35:Lovely place, nice people, beautiful Island. The shops on Sanibel were wonderful, very helpful sales people. My wife has been vacationing there for years, this was my first visit. It won't be our last, can't wait to go back!
Review 36:Just being picky, a reminder to pack beach towels and bath towels. While they provide bath towels, they are like sandpaper, especially on a sunburn. Ouch!
Review 37:The staff was so nice. The location was perfect. The unit (c20) was really cute. It fit me, my husband, and 2 year old daughter perfectly. The bed was so comfortable. Really couldn't ask for more. Best 30 again birthday ever! When we journey to Sanibel again, we know we will stay at the colony again!
Review 38:There was some sand in the pool but that's about it.
Review 39:Location was excellent! Friendly, welcoming staff. We stayed at the cottage #17 with nobody next door at the time. Grounds were well taken care of. Most importantly, beach and pool was just across the road. Loved it!
Review 40:The only problem was the path to the beach (because of rain the entire week before) was filled with mucky water/mud. By the time you made your way through it, you were splashed with mud--on your clothes and body. It is my understanding that this right of way belongs to the municipality/boro, so in no way was the fault of The Colony
Review 41:We loved the closeness pool, ocean and great breakfast spot. The cleanliness and provisions like paper towels, TP, bikes, etc. were great. Super walkability. The staff are terrific at answering all of your questions and concerns.
Review 42:The staff was great and very helpful. The Inn hosts a diverse group of travelers which makes for interesting conversations. Overall a quirky one of a kind cool Inn and I enjoyed my stay. Its not corporate or cookie cutter- its authenticity makes for great memories! The beach is a 1 minute walk down the path, cute pool for a dip to cool in and lovely grounds to walk around. Lots of great books in the lobby and the cottages provide for serene quiet privacy and restful sleeps. They have bikes too.
Review 43:The cottages are somewhat outdated. But outdated buildings have their charmes too. The couch was ok but not top.
Review 44:The place on the island is excellent: near the beach, quiet and not far from several places to lunch or have breakfast. Also the airco was very nice, although sometimes too cold in the bathroom and bedroom.
Review 45:Expected a dishwasher but not a real problem since we are out.
Review 46:Conveniently located for our needs. Large space in unit so we were not cramped. Loved the late check in and easy check out.
Review 47:The bathroom door didnt lock :(
Review 48:I like that they had absolutely everything i needed wether it be dish utensils or cleaning supplies towels always arrived fast maybe 30mins after leaving outside
Review 49:No outdoor shower to wash off sand. Garden hose was in the neighboring duplex's area so we had to climb through bushes to turn the water on/off. No mat inside door to wipe off wet feet. Other than those two items, everything was great! And to be honest, those two items aren't a huge deal. If the management could somehow address these issues, I'd give this property an 11 instead of a 10.
Review 50:Everything. Great location. Easy walk to beach. Quiet. Comfortable bed. Great value for your money.
Review 51:Thin walls meant the noisy neighbours could be heard at 2am! The emergency call out system failed miserably as we had to wait 2.5 hours for someone to bring out a spare key to let us in. Thankfully the toilet hasn't leaked or anything like that...!
Review 52:A fantastic location for the beach and the size of the cottage was perfect for a couple. Nice and private which was perfect. The bed was hugeeee!
Review 53:Great breakfast, perfect location, lots of information on site, pool very nice after a hot day of kajaking/air boat/board walk-gator viewing/fishing etc.!
Review 54:The washing machines didn't work during our stay.
Review 55:This was a great value! The room arrangement worked very well for my family giving us space to be together but some room to be apart as well. Everything was very clean and there were NO bugs (which is amazing for Florida in the rainy season).
Review 56:Our cottage was one block back from the beach, so no view.
Review 57:Really beautiful cottage with great furnishings. Lovely location, one minute walk from the beach. Great cafe nearby.
Review 58:The sheets & comforters were crusty & stained & surely hadn't been changed. The tub was filthy & the couch was coated with sand. The A/C was so loud you couldn't hear the TV & no one was on duty after hours to correct anything.
Review 59:The location was great, close to the beach & lighthouse & quiet.
Review 60:Hideaway bed was uncomfortable.
Review 61:Location was great, very cute decor and the kitchen was fully equipped. Pool was very nice. Very short walk to a quiet part of the beach which happened to be loaded with great shells. Accomadating staff!
Review 62:Dryer didn't dry very well. Paid for two cycles before clothes were dry. Everything else was perfect!
Review 63:Absolutely charming place to stay! Great location, comfy and adorable apartment with lots of room. Great staff! Loved the beach decor!
Review 64:Circuit breaker popped when trying to plug in computer. Was fixed promptly. A/C units are loud. No maid service except daily towels which are a bit rough. Staff had limited hours at desk.
Review 65:Beach was a close walk and was one of the best for shelling. East end of island is less crowded. Apartment was spacious and furnished comfortably. Kitchen was small but had all needed items. Small screened porch.
Review 66:Although the place was non-smoking people were allowed to smoke outside the property, so the furnishings in the lovely terrace smelled terribly and we could not use it as the air was filled with smoke when we wanted to sit out.
Review 67:The apartment c13 was beautiful and completed fitted out to be a home from home. High end fittings and lovely decor.
Review 68:The carpet was in need of a good cleaning, really felt... funky. The appt. was VERY out dated and the bed was extremely hard with pillows way to huge to use. My wife and I used folded towels instead. The office hours were limited.
Review 69:The location was right near the beach, less than 5 minutes, and close to the main strip of restaurants.
Review 70:The light outside the front door comes directly into the bedroom and if you like to sleep without light, it is somewhat disappointing
Review 71:Colony Inn is located on the quiet side of Sanibel Island not far from the Lighthouse. The Inn was a short walk to the beach and also had a nice pool. Our 1 bedroom apt was nicely decorated and equipped with everything we needed but the garden balcony was our favorite as it was secluded.
Review 72:Beautiful island. Resort prices excellent, close to the beach and very comfortable. The only down side is the high prices in the supermarket. Plan to buy groceries prior to getting there if ur stay is for a few days. Be aware that there is no latin food in the supermarket or in the island. The only latin restaurant are mexican.
Review 73:The location was just a short walk from the beach and just down from the lighthouse- far enough away to be uncrowded. The facilities were very clean and well-kept. I would happily recommend The Colony Inn to friends.
Review 74:Our room was so close to the road that the back patio had no privacy. The staff is only there from 9-5.
Review 75:Room was very" Florida " and large enough for four to stay comfortably.
Review 76:Bed clothes were loose - the mattress cover kept coming off. The bed was lovely otherwise.
Review 77:So cute and comfy. I loved my apartment. It was the perfect beach home for 4 days. It's right next to the beach and there is a lovely pool if you want a break from the sand. Bike rentals available on property. Ice cream parlor and breakfast joint right across the street. I loved my stay!
Review 78:Wifi wouldnt work for us.
Review 79:Service was great, room was a lot better than we had expected. Pretty much have a little apartment with fully stocked kitchen ware. Only a 5 min walk to the beach.
Review 80:I definitely bit off more chew in this place for a solo traveler. The room I had was really a two room apartment, I had not sought out a spot for me as solo and it was slightly pricey as a consequence. I really liked it anyway. Nice for a couple or even couple with young (and quiet) kids - bring sleeping bags & pillows for them in the separate room.
Review 81:The rooms were very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The amenities were very accommodating as well as the location of the Inn. The staff was very friendly and welcoming when checking in.
Review 82:The only thing that we had a problem with was cellphone coverage. We had to go out on the steps to get a connection. We have Tmobile and that may have been the problem.
Review 83:We had unit C19, a corner unit with windows on the second floor and a lush view from the screened balcony. It was private and quiet, very clean and homey, located in a residential neighborhood. We walked down the back steps to go to the beach which was a very short walk. We would stay there again!
Review 84:Loved Sanibel and love the Colony Inn. Our room was clean and cute. The walk to the beach was short. Only thing I would like to see change is maybe updating the pool area.
Review 85:The 2 beds were not queen size. They were full size.
Review 86:I enjoyed staying in a condo near the beach. Comfortable and clean accommodations. Bike trail runs by the unit. Parking for one auto. I would stay again.
Review 87:We had a wonderful time with much needed quiet time. The facilities were fantastic and more than adequate for two people. The beaches were great and the whole island was fun to visit and spend time on the beaches.
Review 88:We loved swimming in the pool. It was the perfect temperature during our visit in early April. We were able to access the beach with a very short walk. Great stay.
Review 89:I wasn't there long enough!
Review 90:We had a condo. With a screened in porch & a screen door out the back! They had fold up chairs for us! The pool was heated. We were never interrupted! Everyone there was super nice!
Review 91:nothing! We had a great stay.
Review 92:We liked the location a lot, In the morning kids went out at the beach for shelling, afterwards we walked on the beach up to the lighthouse- it was a great stay. Very friendly staff, you can even rent bikes in the Inn.
Review 93:Pool water was warm and plenty of lounge chairs in choice of sun or shade. Room was very spacious and decorated fresh beach theme. Easy parking Easy walk to beach
Review 94:Close to the beach! Very comfy, clean and welcoming accommodations including relaxing screened porch and well-equipped kitchen; available laundry; pool; quiet; friendly staff; bicycles to rent.
Review 95:Slight musty odour when we first arrived; we didn't notice it by day 2 of our stay
Review 96:Enclosed porch sheltered from sun, surrounded by gardens. Clean washroom, excellent water pressure in tiled shower. Two air conditioners located at opposite ends of condo keep temperature comfortable; short walk to pristine beach
Review 97:Cottage Kitchen could be updated a bit more and the bath:( but other than that LOVED it! No complaints
Review 98:Location location location! Great staff so nice to me and my children! Other than being right on the gulf and facing it u could not beat this location! Our pretty little walk to beach and pool is just what my 7 & 8 yr old needed. Loved shelling loved yacht mans marina right there for dolphine thrill boat! So FANtastik and only a short ride to Captiva! Sunsets every night with our run on the beach and back to the cottage! We would definatley recommend and return! Thanks:)
Review 99:The windows were old and rattled. There were other apts. at the same rate that have put in lovely new tile & glass showers & granite kitchen counters & more modern furniture.
Review 100:The beach is lovely and quite close.
Review 101:Bathroom & Kitchenette needed updating. Grounds behind the building need some flowers or something.
Review 102:They had a gathering with food & drink when we arrived, it was nice. Short distance to the beach. Bed comfortable
Review 103:Could not bring my dog.
Review 104:This was my second stay at the Colony Inn Resort and the place is clean and convenient to all. The fully stocked kitchen is awesome. Very pleasant staff.
Review 105:There wasn't anything that I didn't like
Review 106:it was quiet, beautiful, close to beach, the lighthouse and fishing pier. Close to restaurants. Loved renting bikes right there.
Review 107:A "standard room"is 2 double beds. Very tacky we thought. Clerk expressly told us to not loose our room keys as she did not want a night time phone call. Door did not close properly.
Review 108:The location is excellent. Breakfast spot very close by and the beach is a 3 minute walk. The room had 2 flat screen tv's. WiFi is very good.
Review 109:The refrigerator was loud...only complaint. Would have been nice to be able to buy bottled water there, perhaps in the office. And not at a rip off price.
Review 110:large living area and balcony.....not inside very much tho. We returned our rental car and used bikes while we were there. It was great to have The Lighthouse Restaurant and a deli within walking distance.
Review 111:mattresses were too soft for my taste but that is the only negative of my entire stay
Review 112:very convenient to beach & easy walking distance to a few restaurants & specialty food shops.
Review 113:We were disappointed with the TV in the bedroom. It is only a 22" and is too small for comfortable viewing from the bed. There is plenty of room for a larger screen. We actually unplugged the 32" from the living room and moved it to the bedroom during our stay. Yes, we put it back before checkout. It may sound funny, but I did not like the toilet. While it is elongated, which is nice, it is very low. But, neither of these were considered of major concern and did not take from our enjoyment of the Thanksgiving holiday retreat.
Review 114:We liked the location and the accomodations. The unit was very comfortable and was clean. For a building built in the 60's it was well refurbished and didn't leave you feeling like you were in an old resort building. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful and cheerful. We liked the easy beach access and being off the beaten path.
Review 115:out of service laundry $6 toll to get on island limited grocery options on island
Review 116:great bed nicely finished great internet speed low traffic area/quiet area very nice beach very short walk from front door nice little pool
Review 117:Leaving!
Review 118:The beach themed room was an experience in it's self! From the paintings of local eating establishments, local history literature and even a list of local AA meetings which I am a member!. The room made us feel at home and then some! The kitchen was fully equipped, loved the he and she TV's and the huge storage and closet space. I was even collecting shells!
Review 119:A little better water view would have been good but for the value, it was fine. A very short walk to the beach front.
Review 120:Great location, very convenient, everything a couple needs for a little quiet get away.
Review 121:Would have been nice to have two beach chairs to take to the beach instead of one chaise lounge.
Review 122:C6 apt was so comfortable with screened in patio. everything was there to cook a meal or just use the micro wave. Wonderful upgrades including the shower and kitchen counters. Even a touch of the old world with a pocket door to separate living room from rest of the apt! Pristine white sand beach with friendly people. Forget Key West this is our new favorite place to really relax and C6 was way above our expectations.
Review 123:We loved the beach and the quietness of the area. It was also nice to have the resturant variaties--from LIghthouse all the way to Doc Fords. Did not have time to bike ride but will look forward to another trip soon to incorporate that.
Review 124:We did not get the unit we had booked. The living room furniture in Unit C47 was uncomfortable and the dining room chairs were precarious stools at a bar height round table. There was a picnic table on the screen balcony. Some units had beach chairs available. This one did not. It had beach coolers instead
Review 125:The location of Colony Resort was excellent. It was a very short walk to the beach, a store and the lighthouse. Bicycles were available on site. There was a screened balcony. Also a laundry room is available on each floor.
Review 126:The beach access was supposed to be private but it was public. There were live and dead worms on the floor. Some had been there long enough to stain the floor. The pool was very small. The rooms weren't very sound proof. The lights outside blared in the bedroom window at night. The layout was all wrong. The tv was tiny. The dishes were out dated and unclean. The closet floor was filthy. When I moved the hamper the floor under it was the only white spot.
Review 127:The staff was fairly friendly.
Review 128:We couldn't use our back door access to beach due to maintenence.
Review 129:Room was very spacious Kitchen Close to the beach Grounds were well maintained
Review 130:our visit was way too short...
Review 131:I took my daughter and youngest son to celebrate his 14th birthday. We stayed at the Colony Resort since it has such an amazing rate and the reviews were so positive. We had the best time of our lives hunting for seashells and seeing the different species of marine "critters" in their natural habitat. We loved the fact that we were at walking distance to the beach (more time for shelling!) and that our unit was soooo comfortable; a home from home feel. My son asked if we could return next year to the Colony Resorts to celebrate his birthday. But I think we will be back a lot sooner than that....
Review 132:I enjoyed the facilities, was close to the beach, I wanted that. I wish I stayed longer, but had to go back to work. Will be back for a longer period of stay...
