Reviews for Franconia Notch Motel

Review 1:Internet n WiFi is a bit slow. Need to be upgrade.

Review 2:Affordable and the location is great. I have been staying here for my winter ski trips for the past 4 years. Love the river view.

Review 3:I loved that it was a clean, quiet room. This is a no frills hotel. My older kids were able to stretch out on the very comfortable bed and the cot that was provided. Loved the river that flowed behind the motel. Fridge and microwave in room was great as well!

Review 4:Nothing everything was good

Review 5:This motel was super clean room 10-was a large room everything we needed was there a great value for the moneyand having a beautiful river running behind was awesome great mew years weekend

Review 6:Loud neighbiirs could hear through the wall , there were a ton of rooms and they put us all right next to each other would've been nice to been spread out so I couldn't hear people at 1:30 in the morning

Review 7:Good location clean and cheap.

Review 8:if you understand that you are not staying at the Copley Marriott and you do not set your expectations too high you will be pleased simple clean affordable lodging -period

Review 9:I found the bed rather uncomfortable....was only able to sleep for a short period of time as I just couldn't seem to get comfy. Also thought they could have done a better job plowing the parking lot...when I returned in the evening I couldn't park neat my room. Parking is already very limited, and the snow banks made it more difficult

Review 10:I enjoyed the location, and the staff was very friendly! Enjoyed waking up to the sound of the river in the background

Review 11:VERY DATED,CURTAINS WERE IN BAD SHAPE A CRAZY WRINKLED AND THE SHOWER CURTAIN WAS PRETTY SHOT. WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT TO HAVE A COFFEE POT

Review 12:CLEAN AND QUIET WITH VERY COMFY BEDS

Review 13:Everything was fine - I THOUGHT that being in the cabin closest to the road would be noisy but it still held that beautiful woodsy silence.

Review 14:Idyllic spot. Perfect for a good sleep before and after a nice, long hike! The cabins are so cute!

Review 15:There central heating in the room was broken and there was an electric space heater only. Also, there were only a few rooms occupied, and we were all placed next to each other instead of spread out which would have offered more privacy. The other occupants all arrived after 10 pm and were very noisy while settling in. This was not the hotel mgmt.'s fault, but they may have made an effort to stagger the room numbers.

Review 16:Its inexpensive and in a good location for hiking. There is plenty of hot water and clean towels.

Review 17:Room was cramped. Bathroom shower curtain had mold on it. Also don't think the room was vacuumed

Review 18:proximitry to trail heads is great. Right on the Pemi river.

Review 19:Dated, Dated and OLD everything No money put in to anything except a tv shower was a joke no bathroom counterspace No coffee in room or office (EVERY other motel around offered Continental Breakfast) No chairs on porch

Review 20:Cabin was clean,,no bad smells River behind cabin w nice sounds

Review 21:the parking lot is pitch black and hard to find at night time.

Review 22:clean rooms and good value...rooms are nothing fancy but good find for a short weekend stay.

Review 23:Cleanest and most cozy motel we have stayed at!! Wonderful staff. Perfect location.the sound of the river outback just added to the great experience:) Already booked another night in a couple of months!

Review 24:No coffee making facilities in room but coffee was available in the office of a morning and Sam did in fact ask if we would like coffee of an afternoon.

Review 25:Good position, backing onto river, just out of town. The ever cheerfull, ever smiling, ever helpful owner, Sam.

Review 26:The gym is small and the two treadmill were broken. We arrived early and before asking for a possible early check in, the front desk lady said "check in is at 3pm", not even a "hi"... She was really rude

Review 27:Nice and comfortable room

Review 28:The shower drain was slow.

Review 29:The room was 60 bucks so it was the cheapest in the area. The room was clean the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot what more can you ask for?

Review 30:For $259/night (holiday weekend), we got the facilities of a cheap motel -- wallpaper was buckling and falling off; curtains were falling off; towels were tiny and rough; soap was so thin it broke in half trying to use it; shampoo came in a little envelope; bedding was really old; room smelled -- you get the picture. They really need to put some money into updating!!!!

Review 31:Good location. Beds were comfortable. Water was hot.

Review 32:Nicely located, clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful, which was important for me as I got some problems with my credit card. Thank you again!

Review 33:No bad experiences, only slightly negative comments would be the lack of the means to make a hot drink and the fact that the room was in need of a bit of an update.

Review 34:Although a fairly typical motel, the location with views to a river and woods at rear was very good. Set back from a main road but we had no road noise problems. Convenient for travel to various of the New Hampshire sights. Only a short drive to a choice of restaurants.

Review 35:No pool or rec room if thats important to you. But for me there wasn't anything i didn't like.

Review 36:Super location. Most affordable place in the area. The manager is one of the nicest persons i have ever met.

Review 37:Very old motel, had a musty smell in the room. TV didn't get many channels at all. Bathroom was very small. Ok for the one night but Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Review 38:It was In the area we needed to be. Really nothing I liked about it.

Review 39:It wasn't a bad experience, just a few issues. I have an 11mo old who's crawling all over the place, the source of heat for the room was a 5' tall wall unit that is in between the bedroom and the living room (vents on both sides so both rooms get heat). My issue with the heating unit is it got extremely hot to touch and the location of it was not very "family friendly". Also you could see outside through the cracks in the door, something that could be fixed by weather stripping.

Review 40:Location was good, right outside of all the downtown congestion.

Review 41:The address was wrong on there website and on booking.com so we drove almost three hours out of our way and the owner cared not one bit. He was hostile and we only expected an apology not any monies back. We traveled with small children and the extra time was horrible. No explanation given or even a sincere caring of our plight. The staff speaks broken English and just wants there money. I don't recommend this to anyone! Certainly not for the $283 dollar price tag! The extra travel time costs us our meeting with friends and our outing for that night.

Review 42:The location was excellent. The view spectacular.

Review 43:The inn is rundown and in desperate need of an update. The room had an old, musty smell everything in the bathroom looked like it was from the 70s. I just couldn't bring myself to take a shower in that bathroom. I would not stay there again. The location is the only thing it has going for it and there were better looking places to stay around it.

Review 44:Good location close to the Kanc. The owner was nice and stayed late to check us in.

Review 45:No cutlery crockery or kettle but perhaps that's normal for a motel!

Review 46:Great location near main hikes. tHe cottage was cosy but private and you could get to the river at the back. pEaceful. pLeasant motel manager.

Review 47:The motel is ground level but the step to get in was over 12" tall. My legs aren't that long and I'm a heavy person so I had a difficult time but finally managed to get in. There really should be a step in between so your first step isn't so drastic.

Review 48:The motel was near Clark's Trading Post which pleased us very much. The room was very clean and spacious. We found the beds a bit harder than we wanted but did manage to sleep.

Review 49:No military discount, most places offer it and even if it saves me only $10 dollars that's better than nothing.

Review 50:It was private and didn't have a ton of noise around the area.

Review 51:Just wish we had a bedroom window that looked out on the river. Only window that did that was a small one in the bathroom.

Review 52:Loved that we had a little cottage, and that the river was right behind us. Liked sitting by the river. Soooooo pretty and relaxing.

Review 53:Very comfortable clean room with everything in excellent working order. Price was exceptionally low for a room of this quality. Staff was very friendly, and offered me a larger room for the original booking price.

Review 54:several portable heaters v central heat source which appeared to be disconnected.

Review 55:wanted to take the mattress home so comfy! checked in late by mgr was polite and efficient and very welcoming. enjoyed the privacy of the cabins

Review 56:No local restaurants open for early (5am) breakfast. This has nothing to do with the hotel.

Review 57:Hotel was only a few miles south of Franconia Notch Park, my morning destination. Very reasonable cost.

Review 58:I was awakened at 3:45am by a bug crawling on my back while in bed. Not a great feeling. Tried to catch bug but it jumped off the bed. Didn't have my glasses on so couldn't identify details of bug.

Review 59:Cozy room with amenities I needed like flat screen TV, round table w chair, desk w chair, and killer shower head. Also hotel is on a river so nice sound of water with the windows open.

Review 60:Room smells terrible. Probably old carpet or chemicals used to clean. We slept with open windows. Towels are washed out to maximum. Mattress with plastic cover under the sheet making noise with any movement. Mattress itself is like trampoline. Only coffee in the morning, which is difficult to call coffee (black water with terrible taste) . Looks of coffee maker speak out itself. House keeping asking for tips.

Review 61:Only location.

Review 62:A bit of a mildew smell in the room and mildew on the shower curtain. 70's décor.

Review 63:The rooms were dated, but relatively clean. Loved the location and the fact that you can easily walk down to the river behind the motel.

Review 64:The river in the back of the hotel should be highlighted! Wish I knew about it before I was checking out. Take a blanket and have lunch by the river... definitely advertise this more!

Review 65:Great simple family room two large beds and extra bed allowed for family of five also took a single night booking where as others all asked for two nights which did not work as we were passing through

Review 66:The shower was dirty

Review 67:I left my wallet in my room after check out the staff was honest and when I call they had it at the office, also there's a beautiful river right behind the cottage.

Review 68:The room smelled gross and it wasn't clean. The bed was okay but the pillows were hard. Bathroom not the cleanest.

Review 69:Location was close to many activities and restaurants

Review 70:Took everything in stride. A little cramped but we expected that. It was to be a different weekend away for us.

Review 71:New experience for us. Quite. With the exception of the loud neighbors who talked endlessly.

Review 72:The motel is a bit outdated and could really use an upgrade. Unfortunately the wifi was very bad, was almost impossible the plan the hike for the next day!

Review 73:The owner was very helpful and friendly and the location of the motel is ver good for hiking.

Review 74:The soap & shampoo packets were IMPOSSIBLE to open, even when using our teeth. Even though it was a 1-floor motel, it sounded like people were walking/stomping around upstairs -- the floor noise from other units reverberates, but they quieted down at "bedtime".

Review 75:Staff was very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of pillows & blankets. It was right on the Pemi River; location was so close to where we were visiting.

Review 76:I've gotten so used to coffee makers in hotel/motel rooms that I was surprised that there was none in the room. My only disappointment of the entire stay.

Review 77:Great location, convenient to Franconia Notch and Kancamagus Highway as well as great restaurants in Lincoln and North Woodstock. Fridge and microwave in room. No pool, but a nice water park right down the road. Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 78:Found dirty clothing ( not ours) under the bed when checking the cottage for our things. Very small rooms and unnecessarily large bathroom. No view of river out back. Picnic table broke when one average sized and small people sat on one side.

Review 79:The grilling area was nice and the location of the cottage was good

Review 80:Tatty furniture and broken drapes. I'll fitting air conditionerwith gaps round window. Window panes broken. Dog hairs on pillow.Envelope from Housekeeping with presumption of tip put in front of tvtwice and noise from road. Price $130 not worth it. Pay $20 more andfind a nice hotel.

Review 81:Nothing

Review 82:Nothing. No complaints. Everything was excellent!

Review 83:I was astounded to see such a big, clean room – based on the nightly rate I wasn't expecting much (and I don't need much, I'm a hiker...). The river was right behind the cottages, which was gorgeous. And the office staff was helpful...I actually changed my stay for one night earlier and they accommodated me, no problem. Would definitely stay here again! The fridge was convenient, and the flat screen TV was another welcomed surprise!

Review 84:the pillows were flat, bed lumpy, sheets didnt fit the bed, kept coming off.. .. only 1bbq grill and it was across the lawn from the hotel, very inconvient... picnic tables old, with lots of rot,

Review 85:the owner gave us the choice of 4 different rooms for the original booking price, loved the river right outside our window.room had abundance of towels.

Review 86:I could not turn on the air conditioner

Review 87:Great location close to the trailheads to Mt. Lafayette and Cannon Mountain. A bit far from Lincoln, se you need to take the car to go to town. Staff was friendly.

Review 88:Parking layout could be an issue if completely booked.

Review 89:Great location! Older place but clean and well kept. Nice to have a microwave and frig. Plenty of towels which is a good ammenity.

Review 90:Nothing!

Review 91:The staff was friendly and accomodating. I made a late evening, last minute reservation and was greeted with a smile and pleasant conversation! The room was basic but clean, warm and comfortable. Perfect place to stay on a cold NH night. :) Coffee in the office in the morning.

Review 92:Run down. Bathroom tiles coming up and shower needs a remodel.

Review 93:Price is affordable for an overnight stay while visiting the area. Beds are comfortable.

Review 94:We are not fussy people but when you walk in the smell of the moldiness hits you. The ceiling with broken parts covered in water stains. The bathroom tiles moved the grout was all torn up. I could not give my kids a bath with all the stuff in the tub. It was really gross. Really disappointed and will never book again. There are plenty of places that charge the same that are at least clean and cared for. When we approached the man when we checked out he did not want to hear it and just gave excuses after excuses.

Review 95:The new comfy beds were the only things that made our stay worth staying.

Review 96:The bathroom need remodeling...look like the owner is in process of remodeling the place

Review 97:The motel is a small 60 style motel court..The owner greater us with a smile and was very helpful..we reserved a king room and needed a cot for our grandson..instead of the cot,,he upgraded us to a room with 2 queens as this room was more spacious ..the room was very clean. It has a small refrigerator, microwave and table with 2 comfortable chair..it had a small HDTV with a remote..the view was a small beautiful brook on the back side..There was a LOT of snow so we snowshoed outback a little. Good value for winter rate of $50 per night

Review 98:The wifi signal was pretty weak. We were in room #1 which is furthest from the office. The wifi from the resort across the street was stronger.

Review 99:The price was right, the staff is very friendly. Also liked that the room had a small fridge and microwave.

Review 100:The room had a funky smell like mildewed, the shower has some blue soapy looking liquid all over the tub, we opted out of showering for the one night we stayed. Oh yea and OUR CEILING FELL ON US. Not a little peice there was a 5 foot by 5 foot gaping hole in the ceiling.

Review 101:It was cheap, although we got what we paid for.

Review 102:Needs a hair dryer.

Review 103:Absolutely the best value for a king size bed. Microwave and fridge are what we look for so we can do dinner and breakfast. Older motel but Clean, safe, and location is great.

Review 104:The room I stayed in this time (#7) had sketchy WiFi because it was in the back corner of the motel. Faucet would spray out from the top and would get my things all wet around the sink. No coffee machine in room, but since I've been here before, I just bring my own.

Review 105:I have stayed here before and have always found it to have a great location to hiking and skiing. Staff is extremely nice and accommodating. Good parking, nice medium-sized room refrigerators, good heater, good windows and views to the river right behind motel (the sound of the river is REALLY nice at night!) Lots of good plug-ins for electronics, nice little table and chairs, good flat screen tv (but wish there was a channel listing of some sort). Alarm clock, good closet area, good bedside lamps.

Review 106:1) Outdated bathroom

Review 107:1) Room size 2) Location 3) Very fast internet 4) View of the mountain river from window in our room 5) Extra folding bed in room 6) Refrigerator, microwave

Review 108:This was our 2nd stay this year. This room was more spacious, very clean and the king bed was so comfortable. It was winter, room was warm upon arrival. Micro & fridge was all we needed. Management & staff were very friendly & accommodating. We definately plan to stay again.

Review 109:I would always like a little more lighting in the room - some kind of ceiling light, but there was only 2 floor lamps and 2 bedside lamps. The bathtub was stained and looked a bit nasty, but it was clean.

Review 110:I loved the size of my King Room, nice flat screen tv, sitting area, microwave, the room heater is one of the old models, but I tell you, when I wanted a bit of heat after coming in from skiing - I just cranked it up and hot air was just pouring out of that thing - Loved It! Great sound of the river just outside the window

Review 111:the value was good so no comlaints

Review 112:We were happy with the location .The. Rooms were very comfortable. A bit dated but that was not important. We would certainly return again. Beds were very comfortable. Some utensils for coffee or soup would be nice.

Review 113:Not an attractive road but very well located for eating at the excellent Woodstock Inn in nearby town and seeing F Franconia and White Mountains.

Review 114:Good quality and clean motel with helpful staff. A surprisingly pretty river immediately behind motel where you could picnic in warm weather.

Review 115:The place is a little outdated, so if you're looking for a hotel experience, this is not the place for you...at least not with one of the cottages. It's plain jane, but does have a fridge and a microwave. The electrical might want to be updated, as there was a lot of cords plugged into one outlet.

Review 116:This is a small little place, which is super cute. There's a nice river behind the cottages. While it was raining when we were there, I still think it was a great place to stay. I loved the little covered porch and that it had a microwave and fridge.

Review 117:Everything was fine!

Review 118:- The room was spacious and very clean, the bed was very comfortable - We had to cut our stay short due to bad weather. The manager on duty was very accommodating and refunded us both nights that we didn't spend there without any fuss. Perfect customer service! Will definitely book a room again when coming back to the White Mountains.

Review 119:Possibly the dirtiest shower/bath space we have ever seen. We could not take a shower in it. No tea/coffe making facilities in room. Too cold to walk down to reception to make own hot drinks. Not sure how people get on in mid winter !!!!

Review 120:Location. Friendly staff. Comfy beds.

Review 121:Motel was rather run down and tired. Chairs outside the rooms encouraged neighbours to sit outside our window and talk keeping us up. All-in-all it was ok but not highly recommended

Review 122:Location and price were good

Review 123:In terms of finish out, it's a little dated, but very liveable. It had a movie charm about it. . .something I hate to say you might see in a comedy, but honestly, it was just fine. Just a little dated.

Review 124:I loved this as I was looking for a less expensive place and as traveling by myself, all the normal upgrades my family likes weren't necessary. This was perfect for what I needed.

Review 125:Not a thing

Review 126:Location was good, close to many sights and trailheads. Woodstock was close for restaurants, and better than Lincoln. No road noise and you can hear the river! Not a remarkable place, but very adequate as a base to go out and explore.

Review 127:There is nothing that we didn't like, other than having to leave.

Review 128:I loved the babbling brook behind the motel. With the windows open, it was a very relaxing night sleep. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Definitely would stay here on our next visit to the mountains.

Review 129:Honestly this place needs some TLC. It wasn't dirty but the screens on the porch were torn. The wood was splintering off on the edges. The grills on site appear to have not been cleaned since last year. Although they have outdoor chairs they were in poor shape. Most missing strips or the strips hanging. The tables down by the river, although in a gorgeous setting were in disrepair and basically unusable.

Review 130:The setting was amazing. Nestled at the edge of the strip along the river with lots of trees. The cabin was perfect size for the two of us. We really enjoyed the screened in porch in the evening. Just glad there wasn't any bugs out. It's an old place but they did a decent job of keeping it clean.

Review 131:Cable did not work. stations were blurry or didnt work at all. Wifi was limited or didnt connect at all!!

Review 132:We stayed in a cozy cabin. The sound of the river in the back was nice for sleeping. location was great.

Review 133:Needs maintenance. Mold on shower curtain and tub. Property needs to have some renovation work to charge the price they charged $125. It would be a good $40 motel room.

Review 134:Location was good. River next to the rear window was charming.

Review 135:The bathtub was in desperate need of reglazing but the room was certainly clean enough.

Review 136:Super convenient place for a quick overnight right in the heart of Franconia Notch. We stayed one night before going to the Highland Games and it was perfectly acceptable for our short stay. The Pemi was right outside our window, very nice view.

Review 137:Room and bathroom was TINY Facility a bit shop worn

Review 138:Bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable Staff was welcoming informative and very polite Location was excellent

Review 139:The cabin was adorable, location was perfect, and we all slept very well, thanks to the sounds of the babbling Brook right behind us. The place could use some renovations, but honestly after hiking all day we were all a dirty mess. It was perfect to come back to, clean up and get some rest!

Review 140:My boyfriend and I stayed up in Lincoln for a spur of the moment trip, the room was great for 70$ a night, big king sized bed, heater warmed the room up quickly, bathroom was clean. Great stay for a cheap price!
