Reviews for Colonial Motel
Review 1:There was no continental breakfast but no room for that either. On the other hand, we appreciated the coupon for our breakfast at Peaches.
Review 2:Location, friendly staff, value for money...
Review 3:Only complaint would be the size of the shower but they've made the most of the space that is available.
Review 4:Great location, clean and comfortable. We were able to walk to multiple restaurants, shops and the Conway Rail Station. The motel and room itself far exceeded my expectations.
Review 5:We rented a family suite. The kids beds were super soft and comfy. The adult rooms king size bed mattress was terrible as well as the flat over-used pillows. My husband and I slept terrible.
Review 6:The location, the pool, the staff, and the rates all are excellent. Its a great place and we will be returning.
Review 7:No phone, microwave, or coffee maker in the room. Phone was an problem for me as I had no cell service. No security bar or lock on the door. The single bed room had only one nightstand which, of course, was not on the side I sleep. I would also have preferred a shower curtain bar that angles out as this keeps the shower curtain away from you.
Review 8:I liked the location which was very central to all activities and within walking distance of the shops and train station. The room was a bit dated but very clean.
Review 9:Didn't know you had to turn the light switch on to make the tv work. Broken bathroom window so we couldn't open it to let fresh air in the room.
Review 10:Quiet, clean, good location
Review 11:The pool was quite inconvenient to our room. I would have enjoyed a closer room to the pool.
Review 12:The very helpful friendly staff. The convenience to downtown. The memory foam matteress on the beds.
Review 13:I thought the bed was fine but my wife will bring her own pillow next time to be more comfortable.
Review 14:Very clean and well stocked. Owner/staff very friendly and helpful and responsive. The fact that it was within walking distance of the downtown was a plus!
Review 15:The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. As a family run motel, they really wanted to make sure we had a good time and recommended different hikes and the tubing, which was great fun! We really enjoyed our stay here, I would definitely recommend it. Thank you!
Review 16:The location is excellent. Close to all major attractions, restaurants and shopping. Our room was super clean and the beds were so very comfortable. Nice soft quilts and clean soft sheets. The woman who checked us in was very nice, efficient and informative.
Review 17:Location, cleanliness, excellent staff. Will not hesitate to stay again nor to recommend to others. Enjoyed the outside sitting area so we could have coffee with our friends.
Review 18:The room had a musty smell and had outdated furnishings. We did not feel safe there as the room had a push button lock and no bolt.
Review 19:The location was good.
Review 20:The location and view. The staff was also accommodating when it came to parking. They allowed us to park in the lot after we checked out so we could go to an event.
Review 21:I can not think of anything that we did not like.
Review 22:We liked the proximity to the town and our destination. All the co-residents were very respectfull and considerate.
Review 23:Just a tad to close to roadway. All you heard all night was these 18 wheelers going by downshifting.
Review 24:Check in staff was friendly, helpful, and beautiful. Room was immaculate.
Review 25:No means of making coffee or tea in room, though coffee was provided at reception.
Review 26:Clean, comfortable room with fridge. Slightly disconcerting electrical arrangements - the light switch needed to be on to activate the fridge. Friendly and helpful reception. Good location for shopping and dining.
Review 27:My husband and I come up to North Conway every winter and we always stay at The Colonial Motel ! We love the King Room with the Jacuzzi ! Step out your door and see the beautiful mountain views ! The rooms are spotless and the staff is super nice ! We highly recommend it !
Review 28:I have no complaints. We have travelled a few places and stayed in all sorts of rooms so we know a good value for the money.
Review 29:Location was perfect. It was just close enough to everything without being stuck in the traffic congestion of downtown. It was quiet. The beds were pretty comfortable and considering how cold it was outside our room stayed warm. I also liked having the car parked right in front of the room
Review 30:The rooms were a little dated, but very clean!
Review 31:Room was extremely clean. Check in and out were very quick. The location was great - walking distance to pretty much everything downtown.
Review 32:The staff was so friendly and helpful. We arrived early and Ashley ( I think that was her name) had our room cleaned so that we could get in and prep for a half day skiing. She got us a great deal on lift tickets at Mt. Cranmore and at Jackson XC Ski Center and was just so sweet and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the room was extremely clean and very nicely updated. We loved our stay at the Colonial and plan to stay there again for sure. It's location right in the village of North Conway is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants and the views of the White Mountains are beautiful!
Review 33:Plow truck at 510am was very loud and the back up beeping was incessant. It was super icy out and snow and ice was not cleared outside of our door. Then getting woke up at 510am by the plow's beeping was not cool.
Review 34:Beds very comfortable, and great location. Staff was very nice and helped find us a good place to eat and watch the patriots game. Would stay again. Weather was treacherous but they warned me to be very careful going down the hill to the back.
Review 35:The only thing I did not like is that I had to go to the office each day to have them reboot internet.
Review 36:I liked the coffee in the morning and chocolate cookies in the pm. I also liked that they had a campfire in the evening on Saturday night that was a nice touch.
Review 37:We had a little mix-up with our room and the owner was very understanding and upgraded our room free of charge. All worked out perfectly and had an excellent stay. Will definitely return once again to stay at this motel.
Review 38:So glad this place was available for a last minute weekend away! The location is amazing, only a 5 minute walk to great restaurants and shops. Our room was very clean (with a jacuzzi tub!) and the owners were so friendly! Would definitely stay here again.
Review 39:This was an old-style tourist motel. They had well-worn furniture from the 60s or 70s, threadbare sheets and an old bedspread I wouldn't have in my guest room. Electrical system was out of date; there were insufficient outlets for modern technology and a switch near the door controlled all the electricity in the unit. The bed was old and soft, but I slept reasonably well. We needed a roll-away, but they didn’t have any. So they brought us a Coleman air mattress and mismatched hand-me down sheets – some plaid, some flowered. The person who slept there tossed and turned all night. There was no deadbolt on the door.
Review 40:The owners and/or employees were very accommodating.
Review 41:We were a little disapointed when we found other motels with much more to offer, indoor pools and a restaurant for the same price we paid each night at the Colonial.
Review 42:We liked the location, close to stores, restaurants and many activites in the area. Was very clean.
Review 43:- Not pet friendly- Very rude owner - No air conditioning - No hair dryer - Owner complained that we used Booking.com because they take 20-30% of the room price for their commission - Oh! Did I mention extremely rude owner. - Oh! Did I mention that our dog was much more civilized than the ownership and that the dog had no complaints and was not a problem to anyone
Review 44:Location and staff
Review 45:Room rate was taken from card at time of booking on line but was warned this may happen .
Review 46:Excellent , close to road and town . Superbly clean with excellent carpet and furnishings . Family run and so on site .
Review 47:Our stay at the Colonial was wonderful. From the time we checked in, the gentleman in the office was very personable and made us feel comfortable immediately. We were very impressed with the cleanliness as well as the coziness of our room. We definitely want to make this at least an annual visit!
Review 48:Would have preferred coffee and tea making facilities in room. However, this was provided here in reception.
Review 49:Convenient to centre of town. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 50:Most hotels will hold a credit card at booking and allow you to pay with cash upon arrival. This hotel posted my credit card at booking and would not allow me to pay cash. The bed pillows were like rocks but everything else was fine.
Review 51:The location was on the main road to the attraction we were going to.The room was clean.
Review 52:-----
Review 53:Everything! By the way: In order to save some money on a quite expensive 4-week-trip through New England we were glad to find a food market nearby where we could by food for breakfast (yoghurt, fresh fruit) and hot dishes. Being unused to the amount of cholesterine food that is offered in breakfast restaurants it was a perfect alternative.
Review 54:nothing
Review 55:Having never stopped in a "motel" before i was worried about security but I needn't have worried- I felt safe. The staff were really helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. we sat at the back of the motel overlooking the pool at night and watched the stars - a really lovely setting. Had a fantastic breakfast too at Peaches Cafe - 2 minutes walk away (and a money off voucher from the motel)
Review 56:Beds weren't the comfiest. Could not turn the light on in the bathroom without the noisy fan coming on.
Review 57:Location was excellent. Just a two minute walk to the Muddy Moose for great food and beverages. Room was clean but plain. Loved that you could sit right outside your room. Staff were great. Allowed me to change to a bigger room once I arrived. Very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 58:The people upstairs from us walked very hard (angry people) this is not the hotels fault. Pool extremely cold.
Review 59:Hotel was very clean. Beds very comfortable.
Review 60:Had refrigeration yet no microwave. could use one for our take home snack.
Review 61:Clean and comfortable. close enough to start a fun days walk, yet just outside enough to see a beautiful Mt. view while looking across the street. Great staff, helpful with any question. I know we will return.
Review 62:Soap is very very thin and small, more like a sliver. Shampoo is small packet about 1st and it's conditioning shampoo so you Need to bring your own. No biggie tho if it keeps the rates down.
Review 63:The room was very clean and neat. The staff was helpful and very polite, And the location is perfect. What more can you ask for. I would stay here any day of the week. My kids,10 and 6, enjoyed the room and my husband was happy with the WiFi connection. All in all a nice place and a great value.
Review 64:Access and exit points very narrow, no parking directly at the office so had to use a space designated to a room, but for a short time. When driving around the building it is extremely tight and blind as well, you just hope no one is coming up or down when you attempt it! The drive around back also descends down a steep grade and you have a sharp tight turn to get to the parking. There is a gravel center area, making the driveway area like a oval, really shouldn't be there as to get a mid sized truck in and out of the parking spot, I had to go over this area, quite tight! Upon opening the door the odor was a bit mildewy, but we soon acclimated to it. The Wi-fi was iffy most times. The staff said the mini fridge was on, but, it was not...we didn't need it anyway, except the pizza we had left over had to be trashed. We did hear young children above us, jumping on and off beds as well as running the halls during the day, but not too much disturbing noise at night. The outlet by one bed was taken up by a lamp and alarm clock, so unable to use for a laptop unless one was removed. The AC was located extremely high in the wall, not sure why, but seemed to cool just fine. I also think all hotel/motel doors should have the option on chain locks, not just a weak lock in the door handle. Then upon trying to check out, a group of motor cyclists took up the entire drive area, so we had to park the best we could off the hilly drive and walk to the office (just implying the driveway should be resurveyed!
Review 65:Our double room with double beds was located in the back of the building, which we did like! There was not much traffic noise, the pool was a stones throw from the building. The beds were super comfy, the room darkened well for sleeping. The bath room was super clean and there were several options for lighting. The AC was remotely controlled which was quite convenient! We were offed fresh baked cookies and to attend a fire pit gathering later that night.
Review 66:A simple push-button lock on a light wooden door seems very retro 50s. But then maybe I come from an area more crime-conscious.
Review 67:Super pool! The 3-foot roped-off area is great for grandchildren.
Review 68:no phone in room. No dining room. Soap and shampoo were in packages rather than usual containers. WiFi signal was weak.
Review 69:Good value if you are just looking for a place to stay. Rooms were clean. Offered Bar-B-Que grill. Had a basketball hoop if you have kids.
Review 70:I expected a room facing the road, didn't realize there were rooms underneath. The room was noisy. It is beside the laundry room, the room above sounded like there was a heard of elephants and had problems trying to sleep. Would never get a bottom level room. A small table for those not handicapped to place toiletries on.
Review 71:The room was a very clean handicap room. The bottom level rooms are closer to the pool. Price is right if you want to just have a place to sleep.
Review 72:Customer Service at its best! The Owners primary objective is to ensure that every customer has the best experience possible and they are certainly achieving that goal. They certainly make you feel welcome and do many extras to make it a "holiday" stay - i.e., bonfire and smores at night, picnic area, pool, cookies, helpful suggestions on dining and attractions. Well done - thanks so much!
Review 73:Can't think of a thing

Review 76:Nice motel, but a severe shortage of drinking establishments in N. Conway. I'll have to call the Mayor !
Review 77:picnic tables and fire pit on lawn. shared a table with a nice couple from Mass. and enjoyed a drink or two with them. Patrick supplied Me with ice and kept the fire pit well stoked for us. Good coffee Sunday A.M.
