Reviews for Kauai Palms Hotel
Review 1:Place looks cheap and doddgy, roosters woke us up at 5 am. But for that price it wasnt dirty
Review 2:Staff was nice. There is a nice ramen place behind the corner
Review 3:Nothing!
Review 4:Loved this place- everyone was so friendly, the lady on reception I can't believe I don't remember her name, was so lovely. The vibe was great and the beds were so comfortable. Slept really well every night. I would definitely return here!
Review 5:We booked this hotel on line under the impression that this would be somewhere in the neibourhood of a 3 star. When we got there the night lady booked us in this room that was smaller then my dog house. Room for the double bed and a bathroom at the foot of the bed. We brought out our confirmation papers and showed her the king bed suite that we had booked. She said that was an extra 20 dollars and that wasn't what we had booked but since it was open she would give it to us for the price we paid. Room was ok but definitely not worth the 89$ US. Booking. Com should make sure that the room people book is what they get and for all that read this review make sure you take all the paper work showing the room and prices.
Review 6:Expensive for what you got. No a/c and permanent screens on doors and windows allowed you to hear everything outside (especially since we were by the stairs) and we could smell the smoke from people smoking outside.
Review 7:Clean hotel, stayed 1 night, friendly staff.
Review 8:It was simple - the process, the parking, getting to the room, everything. NO frills, but also NO fuss or complications! They stayed open for our late night arrival (I informed them ahead of time), making sure we were comfortable. They offered extra flashlights to assist us in finding our room, if we needed it to get between our car and the room, which we didnʻt - it was a span of 30 yards. I loved that it was so close to the airport. Fresh coffee in the lobby in the morning, and lots of smiles and aloha!
Review 9:Booked through Hot Wire and no where was there a mention of a daily resort fee. We brought this up at checkout that hadn't been mentioned even at check-in. The attitude of person checking us out was very poor.
Review 10:BBQ grills and location on water was great.
Review 11:The drapes over the windows were totally grotty and the lining on one had stuck to the Jalousie windows. The bathroom wasn't bad but there was mould on the grout in the shower. Rusty lamp fixtures and it could use a good coating of paint.
Review 12:Location was great, the kingsize bed was very good. The quiet time worked well. Very close to airport and some good places to eat. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 13:The hotel building has lots of character and the room was perfect for one night stay - large enough, clean, with an A/C. The Lihue downtown is 5 min walk and the airport is under 10 min drive. The receptionist was super nice, allowing us to do laundry past the service closing time at 9pm.
Review 14:The doors are small and locked by a small key. There is a chain lock on the inside for when you're in the room. They could update the door system to provide more security. We never had a problem, though out of travel habits we didn't bring many valuables initially, and what we did have we usually took with us during the day.
Review 15:Our room was clean and as well-lit as most rooms seemed to get on Kauai! No bugs, no animals, nothing at all thankfully. You can really hear nature, which happens to include roosters crowing at random hours. But the sheets were clean, the bed was firm but cushy, and the TV was kind of little but it got some good channels. For the price and the kind staff, you can't beat it. Free coffee was good!
Review 16:Parking can be a bit challenging.
Review 17:The lobby is open, friendly, great coffee, helpful for local information, the facilities are not like a huge, sterile hotel, it is small, homelike and funky. It is close to the airport.
Review 18:Got there staff was flustered. Got room upstairs on left that has no a/c even though it says it was supposed to. We had to open the windows and heard every person walk up and down the stairs. Awful night sleep if you plans on doing an early morning and we went end if october/ slow season.
Review 19:Under $100 to stay one night
Review 20:Very small room. Since there was no AC we wanted to open windows but that would have meant we had to open curtains and people would be able to see in.
Review 21:price
Review 22:The staff were VERY helpful and went out of their way to assist. It was also very close to shops etc. I like to stay in suburban places where to normal people live as opposed to tourist areas.
Review 23:Room was quite small. Very hot in room! Somewhat expensive for what was offered.
Review 24:Close to airport which was perfect allow it was hard to find. Room was clean. Very nice area to hang out and have coffee in lobby area.
Review 25:There is an initial shock when you first see the place. It is old andhad not been updated in a long time. There was paint missing in bathtubwhere people stand. The walls were concrete blocks. The floors were oldlinoleum tiles.
Review 26:The staff was really great and we felt very welcome. The beds werecomfortable and bedding was good. Lots of pillows. Veryaccommodating. Great coffee. The window ac worked well enough andthere was a ceiling fan.
Review 27:insects, esp. the huge cockroach on my toothbrush :( roosters crowing early in the morning having to leave ;)
Review 28:lovely Mokihana :) = pure Aloha! and all the friendly staff fast free wifi big comfy bed with many good pillows climate, flowers, local fruits from the market, cute lizards not a touristy area, real local life
Review 29:Ants are everywhere, even on the counters in the office. It's in a shady part of town. No fan in room. Ventilation wasn't good in room
Review 30:Good prices and was moderately clean.
Review 31:Not much space and quite noisy at night.
Review 32:The location was good, cleanliness and staff as well but the rooms are very small with miniature bathroom and toilet, would recommend for 1 person and not a couple. However it was ok for just what you need after an all-day trip - a shower and clean bed.
Review 33:There was nothing we did not like.
Review 34:The staff and facilities were outstanding. We were traveling with an ESA which they accommodated for. Very friendly staff, clean room, excellent location near everything in Lihue.
Review 35:Location is scary, Nothing to look at. Cinder Block rooms down an alley, tucked away next to low income homes and behind a strip mall. Not sure when or how this was ever a hotel. The whole place just seems strange.
Review 36:Location to the airport was great The water was hot and the place seemed clean. The front desk personnel was very friendly.
Review 37:While the hotel is not on the beach it was perfect for us good price staff was the best, and clean. We were there house hunting and for us this hotel was great by airport.
Review 38:The roosters outside- but that had nothing to do with the hotel!
Review 39:This place was great, it was very reasonably priced. The staff was nice and it was very conveniently located. Could it have been better- of course but for what I paid it was great!!
Review 40:We arrived into Kauai very late & wanted an inexpensive accommodation a short drive from the airport. Kauai Palms suited our needs nicely. Ladies at the front desk were very pleasant & accommodating. Would definitely stay there again under similar circumstances.
Review 41:Warm welcome with all you do need , and The Aloha Spirit the working people do all have and share to you! I always do come back and stay- Mahalo, dear Maria and all the staff- Josch.
Review 42:Roosters woke us up at 5:20am. We can not blame the hotel for this though, they are all over Kauai. The rooms are quite small and simple, so I would not plan a very long stay here.
Review 43:Close to the airport. Taxi cost $9 from the airport to the hotel. The rooms were clean and simple. Exactly what we needed for a one night stay after getting off our late night flight. Staff were friendly and will stay up and wait for you if they know you will be arriving after hours.
Review 44:The bed was horrible and the room was as big as a closet, hence only a one-night stay.
Review 45:It was convenient from airport and walk to food, great price, clean, charming in a 1950's motel way.
Review 46:The bed frame sticks out from the bed and every time we got out of bed you would either stub your toes, hit your feet or bump your legs
Review 47:Clean, close to beach and shopping.
Review 48:location, manager made it a point to show they lived on site
Review 49:staff was great suggested places the locals eat at and menu items to try, we were never disappointed. We would stay there again. under $100.00 a night was a great find.
Review 50:The facility is a bit beat up but the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The walls in our room were paper thin which was a problem when the guest next door went on a phone rampage. The staff were truly apologetic when I discussed the matter the next day.
Review 51:The staff are really sweet and attentive. There is a good vibe to the hotel (which is not fancy. ) If a traveler needs deluxe accomodations this is not the place for them but we liked it because it wasn't. Parking was easy and the place has a rustic charm that made our short stay very nice.
Review 52:No pool, fitness area or anything to use/do at the hotel.
Review 53:Close to airport, amenities, etc... Very clean rooms Helpful and polite management Comfortable, big beds
Review 54:Got the "delux" room an it was in a real bad shape. I went to sleep and when I woke up The shower and sink were filled with ants and the tv desk was filled with little bugs... - when I told the front desk, she knew exactly what I'm talking about an said its cause of weather and "thanks for telling me" but didn't try to help - just heard what I had to say and didn't ofer anything. I'm sure she didn't do anything about it when I checked out - it's simply lack of care. The whole room looked from the 70th. Everything is so old! Thank god I had only one night there - For the same value of money I got a so much better resort in kapaa area. Wayyy better! Skip staying in lihue if it's not a must for you - u will find better deals other areas.
Review 55:Close to the airport.
Review 56:1. bugs in the room 2. cramped, very little room space 3. general cleanliness poor 4. noisy 5. bathroom window was a basement window at ground level
Review 57:1. proximity to the airport (Lihue) 2. good price 3. comfortable bed 4. adequate sink, bathroom & toilet
Review 58:Not a 'luxury' place, but very clean. The live rooster standing and crowing at the top of his lungs right at our door the next morning was a fine and apparently, quite common occurrence in Kauai. The bed could use more than (2) pillows. The window air conditioner which was in a window about 18 inches from the bed blew directly across us on the bed so that was very uncomfortable. We had to place a towel over the unit to deflect the blowing air.
Review 59:Close to airport Really sweet, accommodating staff ( they waited for our later(er) flight to arrive.
Review 60:Twin bed was sprung and very uncomfortable. Unfortunately for the motel there is construction going on directly across the street and the noise began earnestly and very noisily early Monday morning. Other than the roosters, the weekend was relatively quiet A couple of nights here is OK.
Review 61:Most of the basics provided and, if not, like coffee pot or hair dryer, they can be requested for no additional charge. Great local coffee.
Review 62:some distance from major box stores, roosters crowing before sunrise(bring earplugs if noise-sensitive), no wi-fi, laundryroom closes at 8
Review 63:Friendly staff gave map with walking-distance eateries, cozy-feel, geckos, cheaper, near airport, fridge, fan, t.v.(who comes to Kauai to watch t.v. though?), good access to both North and West
Review 64:Price, good location, coffee in a.m.
Review 65:chickens waking me up at 5am noisy very bumpy driveway
