Reviews for Ariane Hotel

Review 1:There were no bad experiences !

Review 2:Super staff--maybe the essential key to the whole experience.Warm welcome to the hotel and lovely hospitality inside.Good restaurant, very comfortable fully equipped rooms

Review 3:Wall partitions thin - next door didn't have to be very noisy to be heard.

Review 4:Staff uniformly friendly, helpful and competent. Excellent restaurant, bar, and location. Rooms well appointed and designed.

Review 5:The hotel has very friendly helpful staff, an excellent restaurant, and is conveniently located close to market square, beautiful church and museums. Ypres is beautiful at any time of year, in winter it has a wonderful atmosphere, market stalls, ice skating and twinkling lights. For the British, Ypres will always be very special, and the Ariane the best place to stay.

Review 6:Only downside was the restaurant having bar snacks only on Sunday evenings.

Review 7:A very clean & comfortable hotel, excellent restaurant for evening meals and a very generous hot & cold buffet breakfast. Large bed and large, efficient shower. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Overall, one of the best places we have stayed.

Review 8:The wheels on the beds meant they moved dangerously fast when trying to get in the bed!!!

Review 9:Extremely pleasant, well appointed hotel. We will stay there again.

Review 10:Absolutely nothing.

Review 11:Staff were a delight, could not have been more charming. Perfect location, loads of parking, terrific breakfast, great bathroom, fully kitted bedrooms.....

Review 12:Friendly, helpful staff, had to change rooms as the radiator valve was stuck so there was no heating, had an upgrade to a larger room, the housekeeping staff helped to move our luggage. Warm, comfortable hotel, great breakfast.

Review 13:none

Review 14:The hotel was in a nice location near the town. There were lots of WW1 history and items which had been excavated from the local area on display in the reception area. The hotel staff were excellent and extremely friendly. One of the best hotels I have stayed in.

Review 15:Not knowing when the cleaners were going to arrive. It was very random, one day at 10 am another day 4.20 pm. Didn't feel I could return from a day out and relax for a couple hours before dinner or review maps etc before heading off for the day

Review 16:The staff are really helpful and friendly. Room was really comfortable and large. The hotel is in a very convenient place but away from the crowds

Review 17:Such friendly staff who helped to ensure a fab stay. This hotel has a modern lay out and everything was laid out and designed to perfection including lots of sockets in the room

Review 18:The Hotel was fabulous, staff efficient and very helpful, food wonderful. Absolutely the best Hotel we have stayed. Will always go back there. Brilliant.

Review 19:This is not really a "didn't like", but the bed was a little uncomfortable. It would not stop me from visiting again.

Review 20:We really liked the WW1 theme of the hotel which ties in with history of the local area. The staff were very friendly and all spoke many languages fluently.

Review 21:A very nice hotel, situated a short walk from the Flanders Fields museum, and the Menim Gate. Good parking facilities, allowing you to leave the car and enjoy the local bars and restaurants. Very pleasant multi lingual staff, offering a warm welcome, with the local knowledge to assist and point you in the right direction.

Review 22:Modern, clean and comfortable the Ariane is an excellent base for visiting the WW1 battlefields around Ypres. Only a short distance from the city centre it has the bonus of on site parking, which many other hotels in the centre do not have.

Review 23:Pillows where not as described; 2 soft and two hard. The lounge and comfort area where a little small. Perfect for a long weekend or short break, but lacking facilities for a longer break.

Review 24:Great location, friendly attentive staff, clean rooms. All room requirements such as iron drink making tools and hangers. The decor is very fitting, well done.

Review 25:Couldn't stay longer.

Review 26:The hotel is only a few hundred yards from Ypres centre, it is a lovely clean hotel with happy helpful staff. The restaurant has a small but good menu, great beer and wine. Rooms available for disabled people, also clean and fresh. Beds made each day, bottled water supplied and selection of toiletries and towels.

Review 27:Friendly welcoming check in and out. Great restaurant for breakfast, sadly restaurant not open in a Sunday night thought we were aware of this in advance. Large light and airy room with comfortable facilities

Review 28:Very friendly and efficient welcome. Room was very comfortable and clean...iron and ironing board included. Very good buffet breakfast. Free parking . Right in the centre of the city and near the sights. Free wifi.

Review 29:The room was pretty basic and a little 'sad' in tones, Browns and beiges, a bit depressing!

Review 30:Loved the great location, easy to get to the main square, cloth hall and Menin Gatw.

Review 31:I have stayed at Ariane 3 times, now. The experience is always an absolute pleasure. Pleasant and helpful staff. Marvellous rooms and restaurant. The hotel even has it's own car park. I will definitely be staying again, and would recommend to anyone.

Review 32:Bought museum tickets at reception and told they would be cheaper but didn't get discounted rate as booked through booking.com!

Review 33:Fabulous location, really friendly staff and amenities. Fantastic selection for breakfast

Review 34:This hotel was well located only a short stroll from the city square. The facilities were excellent and the display of war memorabilia was impressive. The rooms were also spacious, comfortable and well appointed.

Review 35:Ideal location for sightseeing, very easy to find your way around Ypres & back to the Ariane. Very good choice for breakfast & lovely fresh breads & croissants. The room was a decent size & the beds were the comfiest we've slept in, in any hotel. We had food in the restaurant which was delicious & the Mojito Cocktails were divine. The staff were the best I have come across in a long time, all happy, helpful & made our stay pleasurable. We have tried to book again to stay in December but the Ariane is unfortunately full. I would not hesitate to stay here again & will do very soon.

Review 36:the only knock I have is the fact that on the night we stayed, the hotel had let the bar and kitchen staff off for the night so we had to get dinner and drinks in town. Disappointing sense this is one of the better watering holes in Ypres!!

Review 37:Excellent and helpful staff, clean, roomy hotel, easy parking, great location.

Review 38:We had an excellent stay at this hotel, and will not hesitate to return. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. A short walking distance from the wonderful Flanders Fields museum, restaurants and shopping areas. Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. The inclusive breakfasts were excellent. An added bonus was the very convenient parking lot. This hotel is an excellent value for the money.

Review 39:Absolutely the only negative was that soundproofing between rooms was not too good. Fortunately there were no late arriving guests so it was not a problem for us.

Review 40:We don't usually eat in hotel restaurants but gave this one a try and it was first class. The buffet breakfasts were also excellent.

Review 41:Bed a little dicey for older folks. It moves too easily as I nearly was on the floor as it slid away on sitting on the edge. Also, the facility runs on the very warm side.

Review 42:Wonderful staff and fantastic breakfast. Location great for the town and history exploration.

Review 43:The staff were friendly and competent. There was a real feeling of team spirit amongst the staff and they went that extra mile to assist. Restaurant and bar area relaxed and friendly.

Review 44:Nothing at all!

Review 45:This is the third time that I have stayed at Ariane Hotel. On this occasion, as on the previous ones, everything about this hotel has been really excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The private parking is very convenient, as is the central location of the hotel from which it is easy to walk to the main attractions in Ypres. The breakfast is excellent as was the dinner on the one evening that I dined in the hotel restaurant. Wi-if is very reliable and efficient. I would very strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ypres/Ieper.

Review 46:Excellent quiet location close to centre but with good off road parking. Very good in-house restaurant and helpful staff to recommend other restaurants in Ypres.

Review 47:The hotel was lovely - room excellent and the restaurant was first class. All the staff (a family run hotel) were only there to please and make your stay as pleasant as possible. Sunday afternoon tea (if sunny) in the garden - well fight for a seat - think the locals love this hotel and many use it - enough said. Of course Ypres - well you have to go to savour the experience - last post at 8pm every evening at the Menin Gate and Tyne Cot cemetery, Passchendaele - never will be forgotten by us. All should go to see how many unmarked graves are there and then talk about stress now and what they went through then!!! Lyn and Ed - Suffolk

Review 48:Friendly staff . very nice hotel construction. modern and stylish and lots of light. the ww1 display was a nice touch. Quiet location but easily accessible to Ypres centre.

Review 49:We enjoyed our stay very much.

Review 50:Our room was spacious and well thought out. The public rooms were light and airy and were a pleasure to sit in with food or a glass of wine. The WW1 memorabilia on display was interesting.

Review 51:All very good.

Review 52:Delightful hotel - modern, well appointed & very comfortable room, including bathroom. Staff very friendly & helpful. Ate dinner in restaurant - very good meals & service. Excellent location & convenient free parking really useful. A delightful stay - will return when next in the area.

Review 53:The hotel and staff were fabulous. We were upgraded into a spectacular room with jacuzzi. We then had dinner in the restaurant, and eat what was probably the best salad I had ever eaten in a restaurant.

Review 54:Our only issue was with the meals. They were rather expensive, and the choices limited. Having talked to other people , we were not alone in these views. The evening meals did not live up to expectations. In particular the main course, underdone and overpriced.

Review 55:We liked the friendly atmosphere in the hotel. The bedrooms were comfortable with mugs provide for tea!, with plenty more supplies when asked. The staff were very helpful.

Review 56:Large reception area and friendly staff. Good Bistro, Restaurant, lounge for guests, Excellent bedroom and bathroom with wet room shower. Plentiful breakfast. Well placed for a short walk to town centre and museums.

Review 57:Walking back to the hotel from the town square in the dark and the rain.

Review 58:1.the friendly and helpful staff, 2.the clean and uncluttered rooms and general hotel layout.

Review 59:Nothing to dislike.

Review 60:Central, very friendly and attentive staff very comfortable room and bed excellent . Restaurant very good . I would recommend this hotel

Review 61:Can't think of anything No more to say

Review 62:Excellent facilities and as always friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble We been before and would certainly come again

Review 63:Great bedroom and facilities. Comfortable public area with interesting War memorabilia displays. Excellent breakfast. Convenient position within the area.

Review 64:A very comfortable spacious bedroom with excellent en suite facilities. Good central location within walking distance of the main historical attractions. On site free car parking. Great food. A first class service from the staff. Quiet location.

Review 65:Staff were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The hotel is comfortable and quiet within easy walking distance to the town and the Menen Gate. Breakfast was exceptional, as was the restaurant. A little on the pricey side, but we enjoyed our stay, and I would certainly recommend it.

Review 66:So-called minibar was in fact a non-working and empty fridge.

Review 67:Ideally located in town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable but rather small room. Food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. Good wine list.

Review 68:Great place in Ypres, just a little walk into the centre so it's a quiet location. Restaurant was superb & breakfast was just as good. Very helpful staff. Off road parking

Review 69:The bed was on casters and moved every time you sat on it. The overall temperature in the room was too warm.

Review 70:Central location. Excellent receptionist. Good food. An informative WW1 display in the reception area. The restaurant staff were very good and helpful. Free and close parking.

Review 71:The Ariane is well located within walking distance of Flanders Field Museum and Menin Gate. It is very attractive with lovely garden seating / dining area and the staff are very courteous and helpful in every way.

Review 72:Bed mattress is poor. Movement in one half of the bed disturbs other occupant. Pillows small and foam filled, so not comfortable.

Review 73:Excellent friendly staff at Reception and in restaurant.

Review 74:Excellent all around. Close to the town square and the Mennin Gate. Plenty of parking. Excellent restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here again.

Review 75:Top end price of main restaurant meals, but we were willingly served bar meals in the restaurant.

Review 76:Ease of communication with staff, attentiveness and knowledge. Overall feeling of calm throughout.

Review 77:We loved, in fact we booked again for another stay next week, we had my 90 year old mother with us and we're so well looked after, she loved to look at the WW1 museum and the story of Elsie and Mairi , her father had won the D.C.M. and fought in Plug street woods during WW1, so we will do that tour on the bus next week, and can't wait .

Review 78:Superb stay. Well positioned for stroll to main square/Last Post event. Excellent room and pubic areas. Parking onsite. Superb breakfast and great evening menu. Will be returning on next trip to Ypres.

Review 79:Restaurant menu very fish orientated (not good for fish allergy) and a bit pricey

Review 80:Breakfast buffet was superb. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Very helpfull staff and nice to see hands on management on duty.

Review 81:The only small negative comment would be they need better coffee / tea / milk facilities at breakfast. 2 machines to service a large hotel, not quite enough, especially as one stopped working.

Review 82:As a family we were all highly impressed with this hotel. Clean, modern, helpful staff and in a great location. Breakfast was yummy, lots of choice, self service. Free drinks voucher on arrival and lovely grounds to enjoy a glass of something on a summers evening.

Review 83:Nothing

Review 84:I've stayed at the Ariane on many occasions. It's by far the best Hotel in Ypres (and I've stayed in most of the others). Recommended

Review 85:Very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The breakfast was superb and beautifully laid out. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 86:The friendliness of staff on arrival set the scene for a very enjoyable stay. Breakfast choice was excellent even for a finicky child and again the restaurant staff were first rate.

Review 87:No complaints.

Review 88:Excellent hotel only a 10-minute walk away from the city centre. The room was very spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated and was quiet with no noise from the corridors, adjacent rooms or from outside. On-site parking very good. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. This is the first time we have stayed in this hotel and will stay here again when we return to Ieper

Review 89:Clean, modern hotel, with all the facilities you could wish for. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Location with parking in Ypres excellent.

Review 90:Nothing.

Review 91:Everything, starting with the first class welcome from the receptionist which set the tone for the rest of the stay. I have been visiting Ypres for 30 years, had never stayed in the Ariane before but I hope I will never have to stay anywhere else in future. Thank you to all the hard working staff. .

Review 92:Very friendly staff who spoke excellent English. Nice room with excellent power shower and air conditioning. Good quality breakfast with lots of choice.

Review 93:We dined in the restaurant and food was excellent and well presented. Loved the gin and tonic options on the drinks menu. Hotel was convenient for the centre, very clean and comfortable

Review 94:Wi-Fi had some "dead areas" in the hotel.

Review 95:Location a short walk from the Cloth Hall and Menin Gate. Excellent Meal in the Restaurant. Good on-site Parking.

Review 96:Nothing at all

Review 97:Perfect. Staff were very friendly. Tea and coffee in the room. Offers to book their restaurant downstairs or any others we chose. Very close to the square and the Menin Gate. Lovely war displays in the hotel. Books to borrow too. On site parking.

Review 98:Smart, modern hotel in an excellent area. Interesting display of war memorabilia in the hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 99:Everything, for a family run hotel it is excellent, we went into to the restaurant both nights the food was fabulous and fabulous choice for both dinner the breakfast. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. It has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in and good value for money, no hesitation on recommending it to friends.

Review 100:The size of the pillow was a little small, and the bathroom décor was a little tired.

Review 101:Location was good and the patio and garden area made it feel like you were not in the city

Review 102:Staff all spoke very good English. All helpful and friendly, food excellent, along with service? A short walk to town, I would definitely stay here again

Review 103:Restaurant Lunch and evening menu choices limited, so much so we always went into the town centre to eat.

Review 104:Lovely rooms which were spacious. Bathroom quite large and clean. Well maintained. Great breakfast, Never seen such a large choice of food. Presented well and never felt like 2nd rate and picked over. Helpful staff. Just 5 mins walk from the town square. Free parking. Outside patio area superb and plenty of seats.

Review 105:Marks in the bathroom due to choice of material, but should have been cleaned better so it didn't show!

Review 106:Breakfast was amazing, very relaxing hotel stay, lovely weather to enjoy beer in the garden.

Review 107:Nothing other than slightly better pillows

Review 108:Stylish, chic hotel where every member of staff had a smile. Excellent customer service and so personal to each and every guest. Good quality food.

Review 109:This was a wonderful hotel with exceptional staff! The location is also excellent and a short walk into the centre of town. The family room was spacious and all of the beds very comfortable. Breakfast had a very good variety. Our only regret is that we were not there for a longer time.

Review 110:Pity about the Belgium policy of a tourist/city tax because it was rather unexpected!

Review 111:The location in Ypres, the ambience, the outdoor sitting areas, the food and of course the staff. Parking was free and any queries were met with politeness and a willingness to make your stay enjoyable. Easy to find.

Review 112:Restaurant menu disappointing and was so hot in there and when we asked waitress if possible to open window she was bit abrupt, and said no, they couldn't. We weren't the only ones who felt uncomfortable due to temperature.

Review 113:Quite good location. Room was fantastic, very nice, spacious, and clean

Review 114:Just one small thing - I would have liked to have been served my coffee at breakfast instead of a very extensive coffee machine as it just didn't have that " good morning" touch.

Review 115:As a single woman I found the location of the hotel was very good and I was at ease walking back from the service at the Menin Gate. The restaurant staff on my first night were upbeat smiling and attentive the food was excellent . Reception staff were also knowledgeable and helpful on getting to places of interest.
