Reviews for Anchor Inn and Cottages

Review 1:Not close enough to get to the beach. They need to run a shuttle since you can only use 2 places on the beach, for the public since we weren't close enough.

Review 2:Style and size of rental.

Review 3:Mildew smell and other odors led to an allergic reaction. No amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, or maid service. Pillows were hard as a rock.

Review 4:The cottage atmosphere and central location.

Review 5:Room wasn't ready on schedule. 1 hour and half wait. Slight inconvenient.

Review 6:Dog friendly, convenient, staff, location. Was given free parking at sister property to use beach: awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed! Worth whole visit

Review 7:Overall quite old equipment, AC needed cleaning, sleeping couch was really old. It wasn't that clean with condoms below the bed.

Review 8:Place is lovely, cottages are cute and very spacy. Well equipped. Restaurants closeby. Neutrally friendly people. Fair price.

Review 9:Remember when coming on to the island and beyond to Captiva one isentering a 'special' zone ... you want to stop at the beach andnot staying privately or on beachfront property you will have to pay ...unless travelling by bike which is not 'ability friendly' forall. Nothing to do with the property but more to do with how people are'paid' here ... I object to having to pay a minimum tip of 18%in restaurants ... Unless the service is totally beyond what is expectedof a service person or waiter person ... exceptional ... why should the'boss' not be paying them? Okay on a $100 bill maybe I should beasked to tip 10% but if they are just doing 'the job' why shouldthe public have to pick up that tab? Go tipping free and pay a person areasonable wage for a job well done!! That way if they deserve a tipbeyond service expected then the client will make that choice after allthe customer is mostly correct. Not all travellers can afford to betipping all of the time and if a traveller comes form a ''nontipping" or 'what is deserved' cultural background it sactually offensive to have suggested tips of up to 22% on the bottom ofa restaurant bill / tab! Let the client decide for themselvesplease. Trust they know the maths and do what they believe is fair!

Review 10:The room are so comfy with everything we needed! Travelling withmedication is a pain but the fridge was great as was being able toplace the gel packs into staff freezer for onward travel!!! Thankyou!!! The pool was a blessing after bug heaven at the beach! Greattemperature even towards the end of the day! Restaurants close by areexcellent as is the Island Cow! Only pain is driving a rental but theygave us a 'pass' to a sister property for free parking onBowman's Beach which was fantastic! If staying on the island with acar and limited by mobility and have to drive an park be warned ...$4.00 an hour for parking is a bit of a screamer! So staying here atAnchor Inn & Cottages is a plus!!!! Check in was a dream a was thehospitality extended by management! Did the laundry and all cleaned up!No charge! Perfect!

Review 11:Such a charming, awesome place. Patty and Rodney were so welcoming, helpful and made our stay beyond enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you so much and we will be back :)

Review 12:This is like a mom n pop hotel from the 50's. We loved it. It was very comfortable, the beds were great, it was SPOTLESS, very clean!!! More than enough room for 5 grown people. I would def stay here again. The hotel is not near the beach the only negative, however it is extremely close to everything else.. You can bike ride everywhere or walk with no problems. Safe area. Also they have arrangements with another motel so you can have beach access, it's just a short drive. Also this motel has a pool right in the front of the motel, it was about 30 feet from our room. easy parking too.. Highly recommend!!

Review 13:I know it's a beach atmosphere but the rooms need some care. Our door was difficult to bolt and there was a gap at the bottom side of the door.

Review 14:The young lady in the office was very friendly, efficient and helpful. The Inn is very quaint and friendly feeling. The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 15:The pool would me more refreshing in summer months if it wasn't heated.

Review 16:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was central to many restaurants and close to the light house.

Review 17:Couldn't see any shampoo in bathroom but could've very easily asked and the friendly staff would've fixed it with a smile

Review 18:Lovely pool, great outdoor games, extremely comfortable bed. Great friendly staff, it was very relaxing

Review 19:The blinds were broken. The kitchen mini fridge was not advertised in the photos when we booked online, the smallness and condition of this place and the horrible condition of the bathroom shower was awful and was not advertised properly. You need to remodel this place. We saw pictures of a cottage with a sofa, and nice space inside contrary to what it was. I have rented an entire place with two bedrooms and living room for $100 a night. We didnt even fit in the shower and it ruined my anniversary. Misleading advertising and photos not worth $100 a night. No matter how close to the beach.

Review 20:We liked the size of the bed but that didnt match all the other bad we thought of this place.

Review 21:i love everything about this place I would totally recommend it even tho I went for a short weekend it was great! I got the cottage house and the space is great the rooms are great, everything was so clean and the services was awesome! I will be staying there more often!

Review 22:My only issue was with the bed it self. Some people may prefer a firm/hard bed, I am not one of them. Nor my wife.

Review 23:The location, as it's proximity to many places, was a good one. Located on the main drag in town, it was easy to navigate throughout. Managing team was great and did everything to accommodate us on an early check-in.

Review 24:Wifi didn't really work when we were there, but was great other than that.

Review 25:This was a great value. Large clean room and it even had a small kitchen! Definitely worth the money.

Review 26:it was just a little pricey.....

Review 27:It was adorable and all the comforts of home, we only stayed over one night but I would definitely reccomend this place.

Review 28:I loved the friendliness of the staff and the willingness to help in any way. The inn was beautiful, very open and outdoorsy with the perfect blend of privacy and seclusion. There were restaurants and shops at a walking distance which was wonderful!

Review 29:Nothing bad happened except sun umbrella provided was impossible to set up in moderate breeze.Whipped immediately inside out...

Review 30:I love shelling on the Gulf. Of course not located on Gulf but we were pleased with your private beach on sister property. Also convenient by car to public beach.

Review 31:Window unit was so loud could not sleep in the room slept on tje couch. Hot water in the shower was not reliable.

Review 32:Nice pond in the rear.staff was helpful living room in the unit.

Review 33:This cottage was very quirky and had a lovely feel about it. Unfortunately we didn't spend anytime there as was only in sanibel for one night as s stop over, so didn't really use it!

Review 34:The showers were a bit small and water pressure was pretty light. Other than that, our stay was great!

Review 35:Anchor Inn was great! Very comfortable living space and awesome bed! The beach although it was about a 20 min walk was great too! The staff was very helpful and extreamly polite! I would love to go back!!

Review 36:I would have enjoyed being right on the beach -- but I was not willing to pay for this for a couple of days while I waited for my daughter to complete her prep school rowing camp

Review 37:the fact that I could get in at the last moment

Review 38:offered 1 coffee pack for the week, Refrig, froze everything, could not change settings bathroom was tiny, no place to put anything room damp

Review 39:Ability to use sister property 6 miles away to go to beach

Review 40:Small resort, with nice amenities. Very clean with attentive staff. Quaint, older inn with a nice pool. Very comfortable. Convenient location. Provided access to private beach.

Review 41:Wifi signal went in and out.

Review 42:Proximity to town, heated pool, and outside seating were stellar. Our daughter and her family spent more time at our location than their condo by the beach!

Review 43:I didnt know there was an extra charge for housekeeping. The room was clean in general but not behind the beds and furniture (dust bunnies).

Review 44:good location, near shops etc. The room was mostly comfortable and a decent size. Generous with towels, good hot water, TV choices OK, internet generally OK, lent us umbrella and chairs for the beach

Review 45:Possibly a little cleaner. They don't provide housekeeping, and I would have liked the floors mopped.

Review 46:Location. It was easy to get to everything. We biked, walked, and drove a car. Recommend bikes. Free use of washer/dryer.

Review 47:No tissues, no room service, no phon, everything felt damp. It was old and dated. The room was small. The bathroom was tiny. The shower was almost non existent. I have stayed in much nicer places for half the miney.

Review 48:The bed was comfotable

Review 49:The girl at the desk gave us weird directions on the 1st morning to a breakfast spot - decided to seek information elsewhere

Review 50:Good location, clean basic room,

Review 51:All hotels on Sanibel were really expensive.

Review 52:Woman who ran the desk was really helpful when we needed something. The place was fun and relaxed, low key, just what we wanted.

Review 53:The plastic laundry bin for the towels was a nightmare to open.

Review 54:The rooms aren't serviced apart from towels being changed, however it was nice not to worry about tidying the room every day!

Review 55:Loved the location - close to everything - restaurants and shopping - loved, loved, loved! Loved the private beach at your other location on Sanibel Island and wished we could have stayed longer.

Review 56:There were some light switches that seem to not do anything, which led to some confusion.

Review 57:The staff and owners were very accommodating, and helpful. The rooms were clean and provided all that we needed. I would go back again if I were to have another short stay in Sanibel.

Review 58:Electrical outlets are few and hard to find. Wi-fi is very weak. Bedroom and bathroom walls need a good cleaning and/or a fresh coat of paint. The shower is very small and it too needs a good cleaning. The room smelled musty when we entered.

Review 59:Anchor Inn is centrally located. The staff are friendly and flexible. The cost of the room is much less than the competitors.

Review 60:We could rent bikes right on location, use the BBQ grills, walk to restaurants and stores yet we had a cozy cottage to ourselves in a super relaxed environment. The staff had thoughtfully arranged for everything we could need from a spot to wash our seashell collection to towels, chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach.

Review 61:location, amenities, availability of bikes, beach chairs and towel on site was a big plus! Linda and Nicole made us feel at home! We hope to return soon!!!

Review 62:The shower curtain was too short and water would cover the bathroom floor.

Review 63:We loved the cottage, it was spacious, cute and had everything you would need.

Review 64:The pool was not warm like we had expected, so the children were a little disappointed by that. We did see someone working on the pool equipment one day, so it's possible that it was being repaired and we just had bad luck with timing.

Review 65:The property is beautiful and convenient location. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. (I wish I could live there year round) Old Florida charm. We'll definitely return.

Review 66:Location very near main road as well as very near other units. Amenities not updated in a few decades, which is not a problem for me, but inconsistent with paying top dollar.

Review 67:The cottage interior - nice spaces, comfortable.

Review 68:They have a policy of not cleaning the bedrooms during your stay, so what with the sand and everything, it gets grotty in no time. I like to have my bed made while in a hotel, that's one of the reasons I go to hotels! To use the microwave & fridge we would have needed plates & cutlery, which wasn't provided.

Review 69:The relaxed atmosphere. The fact that it is easy to find, and has access to a very nice private beach 5 miles away. The beach bike rentals on site. The heated swimming pool.

Review 70:A musty smell when the door was opened and lingered in the rooms. A urine smell from the headboard and behind it. Dog fur on the couches Too small of a shower that you can't bend over without hitting the sides. The whole facility is in need of major renovation. Not enough pots, pans, bakeware, plates, glasses, silverware in the kitchen area.

Review 71:The hospitality of the host, Linda The location is on the main road and easy to find restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment. A small water area in the back of the apartment when the back door was opened.

Review 72:Not informed at check in that I could call from office for anything! Loud unruly people stayed there. Kept me up until almost 3 am. Property manager said oh why didn't you call . Simply put I shouldn't have to!!!! Should be renamed redneck inn!!!!

Review 73:Nice staff. Fits your basic needs if the aim of your trip is to be outside on Sanibel & Captiva and not be stay around in the motels all day. Probably one of the best budget options on the island.

Review 74:We arrived late and other guests had really wasted parking spaces. Two more cars could have easily parked at the end of the pool if they had not parked so far away from one another and had pulled nearer the two outer edges. If the spaces were numbered or somehow marked with divisions, then maybe this would not be an issue. Other than parking, this was a perfect booking!

Review 75:Extremely clean and well supplied with nice towels and bedding. Nicely decorated rooms and porches, beautiful landscaping, and a great little pool with many areas to relax outside. Friendly and accomodating staff. Definitely will stay on our next trip!

Review 76:The quality of the place has gone down since we first started staying there 10 years ago. The laundry facilities were disgusting and we were told that when I asked to use them but was advised the owner didn't want to spend $$ fixing it up. Recycled water in the pool?? what is that? And in October, I found the rates very high for the place. We wont be staying there aqain. For $25.00 more a night we can stay at the Marriott!

Review 77:Close to everything and my father lives on the Island so convenient.

Review 78:Pillows were plentiful, but very hard...not very comfortable. Outside lighting was distracting at night. perhaps adding room darkening shades,...or light diffuser's would help.

Review 79:Property was clean, and well maintained, while being an older property,...but that is part of the charm. Area behind our room was a natural preserve with an eagles nest that we were able to observe from rear patio.

Review 80:I wish we could stay longer :-) Bathroom could be bigger

Review 81:Nicely decorated inside and outside Super super friendly and helpful staff Good location, near Lighthouse beach Food and restaurants nearby

Review 82:No real issues to mention,it's just a very traditional family owned experience,

Review 83:It's a real find, the rooms were comfortable and the owners very welcoming.a short walk to coffee bar and general store and restaurants, the beach ic five mins by car.

Review 84:small bathroom.

Review 85:The manager (Linda) was very friendly and helpful with giving us directions and her recommendations for restaurants and sites. The location is great giving easy access to places on both Sanibel and Captiva.

Review 86:Nothing to say left us speechless. On the service

Review 87:Staff was there for us 24/7. For an inn at the price we got was unbelievable. . We came here as guests and leaving as friends. . We spent only 3 night 2 days. But all I have to say is wow awesome cozy and comfortable.

Review 88:We arrived to the most wonderful greeting at the front desk - Linda is awesome! Ron gave us a great tour of the property, which was really beautiful and we loved our accommodations. We had the best get-away, more than I had imagined. We look forward to many return trips! - Laura and Mike

Review 89:I had no problems with anything. The only thing I could foresee others perhaps having a problem with was that there really wasn't much of a cooking area, but we stayed in one of the smaller rooms. I'd be willing to bet the larger suites and cottages have kitchenettes and/or kitchen areas.

Review 90:I loved this place. I have been staying in Sanibel for years and always thought this place looked nice. I was not disappointed. The staff was so helpful and friendly, our room had a really cozy and beachy feel to it; I definitely felt like I was on a relaxing vacation every time we stepped into our room. The pool was nice, and so was the view from our room. I loved this place, and I was happy while we stayed there. The decorations and room were fun and relaxing, and you can't beat the value! Would recommend. So happy with my vacation!

Review 91:Too far to go to the beach No in-cottage washer/dryer No central AC sofa was fine but did not find other chair comfy a few basic utensils were not there - very few baking pans/dishes A bit overpriced considering what it lacks..

Review 92:The cottage was very attractive and quaint; no wasted space but did not feel cramped. The 2 owners were lovely. The grounds are nice. The overall location was very good - not too far away frojm anywhere on the island.

Review 93:We were upgraded to room 19 which is actually more of a unit with a living area which with 2 couches, a kitchenette & 2 bathrooms. The bed was a fabulous kingsize. It was very cool & clesn. We used the fantastic pool area & hired the bikes. We were able to walk to restaurants. We would stay again without hesitation!

Review 94:The bed made our backs hurt!

Review 95:Everything was very clean. The room was quiet even though located on Periwinkle. Very good location. Very relaxing place to stay.

Review 96:I didn't like that we had to leave!!

Review 97:Lorraine and Patrick were perfect hosts. The cottage was roomy and my son loved the loft bedroom. The grounds were spotless. There were plenty of BBQ areas. The other guests were friendly. Great referrals for food and events. It was exactly what I was looking for when I booked the room. Looking forward to returning soon!!

Review 98:Really lovely cottage, perfect for exploring the Island. Warm pool.

Review 99:High price with not even breakfast

Review 100:proximity to restaurants, available activities like biking and the beach

Review 101:A very positive experience

Review 102:Staff was welcoming and kind. They went out of their way to assist us in any and everything we asked

Review 103:Wish the TV was up higher so you could watch while in bed.

Review 104:Clean room

Review 105:The bed was a bit hard. The beds and pillows need to be updated.

Review 106:The room was nice, gave off a homely vibe.

Review 107:no wifi in the room

Review 108:staff, room, cleanliness, friendliness, barbeque lesson.

Review 109:Problems with hot water

Review 110:Beautiful cottage

Review 111:Out of date and very noisy AC Beds are very uncomfortable Far too expensive regarding the amenities

Review 112:Location

Review 113:We rented a cottage and it was a good size. Very pet friendly! Close to everything. We will go back!

Review 114:WiFi was very weak. Usually there was no signal.

Review 115:Staff was friendly and helpful. Had good suggestions for places to eat.

Review 116:Cramped parking

Review 117:Great value and room for family on cottages

Review 118:Quiet and quaint. It had a retro feeling. It was close to restaurants and shopping.

Review 119:The bed was uncomfortable

Review 120:Cute little place

Review 121:Nothing I can think of.

Review 122:Staff was very helpful. Gave us free towels to use at the beach.
