Reviews for Swiss Chalets Village Inn
Review 1:We were the only guests the night we stayed (mid week off season at a very reasonable price) but received first class attention. Included breakfast was great! Cute Chalet style. Warm, clean comfortable room. Great value for money.
Review 2:Location of hotel is remote with no restaurants nearby not anyone delivers to this hotel. Wifi almost never worked and cellular connection wasn't working even ATT
Review 3:Reception staff not welcoming. Breakfast room far too small. Very sweet cereals on offer...no oats or granola. A bit basic seating and tables. Rooms were clean and comfy but colours far too dark..Lots of purple and brown.
Review 4:Good and quiet location for exploring the mountains and Conway outlets. Relatively spacious room. Balcony with distant mountain view..
Review 5:This is a pretty bare bones spot, suitable for travelers who are just looking for a place to crash in between other activities. It was fine in terms of cleanliness and all, but no-frills.
Review 6:The location was convenient and the price was good.
Review 7:The entrance is too dark but it is locate in the national park.
Review 8:Its' architecture is like the name it has ie. Swiss chalets. The entrance i rather very dark in the night especially when I try to find it in the first night and make me confuse whether I go wrong. They have hot breakfast and not far from north Conway (4 Km.).
Review 9:Phone number listed was not directly to facilty, when a number was located the manager contacted on the phone was rude and had all ready charged my card, despite booking policy. Neatly all of the amenities listed were not operable during our stay - will not be going back.
Review 10:Surrounding area
Review 11:Don;t let the distance from town put you off - it is just a short drive.
Review 12:Not new, but well-maintained and clean. We got some good advice from the owner about hiking in the area, and the breakfast included eggs, sausage, and DIY waffles, not just the usual cereal and cold pastries.
Review 13:The man at the reception was absolutely awful. Terrible customer service, he is not suited to welcome clients, completely impolite, kept arguing for no reason. The hotel is really rundown, very old furniture, carpeting and curtains. Shower pressure was non existent. One of the rooms smelled like it was for smokers. Breakfast was a joke, no healthy options, dirty tiny room by the reception. Just not worth it for the price we paid, this is a low class pension at most.
Review 14:Breakfast selection was terrible, rooms were cramped, beds were uncomfortable. Didn't seem like it was frequently cleaned.
Review 15:Beautiful view and friendly staff.
Review 16:I know we had a hot-tub room, but it smelled of chlorine & gave us both headaches. The room was hot & muggy. And at over $300.00/night... it just wasn't worth it. I think the prices were inflated due to it being a holiday weekend.
Review 17:We loved the location, close to all the things we like to do in North Conway, NH.
Review 18:Run down, in need of repairs, peeling paint, kitchenette only had 2 knifes, 3 forks, 1 pot, (no skillets), 4 plates, 4 cups, no glasses, no towels. very dim lightbulbs, chipped table, etc. breakfast was pre frozen eggs and bacon. No yogurt or healthy offerings. Would never stay here again. This was not a $250.00 per night room.
Review 19:Not much.
Review 20:If you don't have a car it is difficult to maneuver. No shops or restaurants nearby.
Review 21:The place was beautiful and tranquil. A good place for total relaxation.
Review 22:There is nothing extra, so compared to worth for your money it's pretty expensive.
Review 23:I liked the location and it's nice to have complimentary breakfast.
Review 24:It is very outdated and needs a substantional renovation. You'll hear the Highway, but that is manageable. We paid ~200usd per night, definitely not worth that amount (more like the 59.99 region).
Review 25:It was one of the last available accomodations in the area (2 days before arrival), so that is positive.
Review 26:Man at front desk was incredibly rude; room was dark, dingy, and barelycleaned. Definitely not worth $271!!! Also room was extremely outdated.
Review 27:Location
Review 28:Bed was too firm, breakfast times could've been longer (for us late risers!).
Review 29:Very clean, adequate accomodations. Friendly staff and decent breakfast. Good value.
Review 30:We were pretty upset the two days we were there it was 86 degrees and the heated pool was already closed for the season. If it was heated it should have still been open when it was that hot
Review 31:We liked the location of the hotel that was about it. The bed was comfy but there was no Jacuzzi in the room very plain.
Review 32:The rooms are still a little dated but you can tell the new owner is working on updating them.
Review 33:The breakfast that comes with the stay was fantastic. They had a pool and the location was good. The rooms were clean and basically had everything you would need (fridge, hairdryer, coffee pot etc).
Review 34:I love everything
Review 35:It was close to Storyland, in my room I had a hot tub and fireplace. A very relaxing room and environment specially after a long day @ storyland and my 2 year old.
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:The place was in a perfect area for our needs. The owner was very friendly and talked to us every morning about our day before. Our room was made up everyday better then some other larger hotels. Will definitely go back next year!!!!!!
Review 38:Rooms need much better ventilation to resolve dampness and old odors derived from carpeting.
Review 39:Staff was courteous and accomodating. Linens were well kept and changed daily.
Review 40:I did not like the Continental breakfast. It seemed cheap and there were not enough seating for more then 10 people. It was really crowded
Review 41:I liked the location and the grounds
Review 42:The room had a musty, pee smell. Mold in the bathroom and on most window curtains. Breakfast area small and crowded.
Review 43:The bed was comfortable. Sheets clean. Owner was nice.
Review 44:Room was quite small. We had to buy bug spray because there was a gap around the door and we had some "visitors". Also had a stain on the chair. People upstairs were very heavy steppers and we could hear them easily.
Review 45:Liked the location.
Review 46:The service was poor, hot tub was old, room was not the cleanest, bathtub didn't drain very well!
Review 47:We liked the view, location of the inn and quietness
Review 48:They allow familes with children on top floor. We were kept awake by children running around after 10pm. The fridge smelt horrible. The air conditioner woke us up everytime it cycled.
Review 49:It was just ok..
Review 50:The breakfast room was a little crowded. The wifi was spotty and didn't work all the time. The hot tub wasn't that hot and the jets didn't work well.
Review 51:The style and size of the rooms was perfect. The beds were comfortable the AC worked well and it was quiet. The pool was nice.
Review 52:I loved the view from the porch outside at breakfast! The mountains are magical. And the breakfast had a nice selection. Overall comfort and good value.
Review 53:Breakfast was not good, coffee was not good, eggs and sausage was microwaved. Muffins were cold. Hotel needed up keep, deck needed a coat of paint, small metal table on deck was all full of rust, jacuzzi was not workingand pool was not heated like it said it was.
Review 54:Location, the grounds were nicely kept. The room was very clean and pool was nice.
Review 55:The pool was great on a hot day. The breakfast was very good including eggs and sausages. An older motel with lots of newer upgrades. Overall good value for the money.
Review 56:Rooms were dirty, smelled of mold (black mold spot in bathroom). They left my door open all day after they had cleaned. Breakfast was minimal, white bread, plain bagels, whole milk for cereal. We ate elsewhere for breakfast. Upon returning to the hotel one evening, there were two men who were drinking and shooting a pellet rifle from their balcony at a target in the parking lot. There were young children on premises. Management said they would call the room.
Review 57:The jacuzzi was under filled and had sand in it and it is revenue tiny!!! The beds are rock hard. They only give you shampoo , no conditioner. And the office staff upon check in are rude... The view from room is beautiful, and the breakfast was ok.... That was the only thing that was ok..... The pillows are flat!!!
Review 58:View and breakfast ok.... Towels had stains on them and room smelled musty !!
Review 59:When room service come and clean the room they dont wash or clean dishes used. The quality of toilet tissue paper is very very very bad
Review 60:The view is stunning, very close to storyland park, very quite place nice to relax
Review 61:The amount charged was higher than what I was told on booking.com!!!
Review 62:Extremely close to storyland and they put the key in a side box since we got in so late and just finished paying in the morning
Review 63:The staff were very rude. The overall condition of the place was rundown. I paid extra for a spa tub that didn't work. It was just dirty.
Review 64:It was close to where we were going.
Review 65:Man mowing lawn too close to pool area while children were at pool. Same man using leaf blower- blowing grass into open van with small children present. Man at desk and tending breakfast area rather crouchy!!!! Breakfast eggs terrible.
Review 66:Female owner very pleasant and helpful. Staff made up children's bed with their stuffed animals all lined up- kids loved it. Pool area enjoyable. Young man at desk very pleasant.
Review 67:Details, a large collection of small annoyances led to a poor stay. Wifi was spotty and rarely worked. All of the doors were sticky to open and close. None of the lamp fixtures operated the same way, and one didn't work at all. The dresser sat lower than he bed, so half of the TV was out of viewing angle. The cable quality was poor and channel selection was sparce. The refrigerator smelled and the ice cube try within carried with it an orange residue. The hot tub was not open. The equipment (treadmill and stair master) in the "game room" was from the 70's. The breakfast was crowded and not open for long enough. Quality of the food was questionable. The Air conditioner's plastic cover kept falling off. There was no night stand on either side of the bed.
Review 68:It looks cool from afar. Location was convienent.
Review 69:A little out dated, looks like new owners fixing the please one unit at the time, but very clean and comfortable.
Review 70:Friendly staff, comfortable bad, clean room with a balcony view of the mountains, nice continental breakfast, pool and hot tub great relief after hiking and kayaking. Swiss experience with out going to Switzerland, will return again.
Review 71:Awesome view of the mountains. Far enough from north conway to avoid traffic but a 15 min drive if you want to go exploring in downtown. Also very close to storyline if you have kids. Very happy to spend my birthday weekend here. Plus some rooms have a big hot tub in the room. It was perfect.
Review 72:We had no complaints.
Review 73:The location was great for the purpose of our trip which was to climb Mt. Washington. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It served our purpose and we were happy with our stay here. We did not really use any of the amenities, i.e. pool, breakfast, etc.
Review 74:If you get a bottom level room and there are people staying above you you will hear people walking around. It's just wood up there, not the sound proof concrete like larger hotel chains.
Review 75:I liked everything. It was a pleasant stay and I'd stay there again.
Review 76:It isn't in town but very near. Close to several covered bridges, which is what we wanted to see. The staff was very helpful and informative on their location and others things to do in the area.
Review 77:The tub is a little aged . The shower curtain had some mold spot. Out toilet didn't flush well so we had to get a plunger for room 117.
Review 78:The room was clean. The bed was very comfy for a good nite sleep. Nice to park right in front of our room. The location was perfect on 16A ad it was quiet. We were right off the main road but easy enough to get back on it. I enjoyed a cup of coffee in room . Breakfast was okay . The staff was available as needed.
Review 79:No housekeeping trash over flow- wooded balcony sounded like construction - no wifi access - game room no a/c owner filled one building with out respect to other guests never again and I'm pretty easy to please
Review 80:Parking
Review 81:Good to have breakfast but I am not a big fan of a lot of bread for breakfast. Some fresh fruit would be nice
Review 82:Location was great to where we wanted to travel
Review 83:The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. I usually don't sleep well when I go away but this time I slept very soundly. It is on a hill, not right next to the road, so there is no traffic noise. The staff was very friendly. Nice view from the room. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 84:It was 87 degrees but the pool was closed! :( I think guests shouldn't have to pay to use the pool bollard table. Game rooms are always free in most hotels as part of the amenities.
Review 85:Windows do not stay open unless supported with a stick, same system in place to lock a balcony door. Bathroom has a sticker saying that you should be careful with hot faucet or it will stick in "ON" position. Quite a solution to avoid repairing anything! Hot breakfast items were gone pretty quickly and never refilled.
Review 86:The room was clean and quiet. There's a view to the mountain over the parking lot from a balcony. Area maps available.
Review 87:Some grown women dancing with loud music into the morning in the room next door. Didn't bother me, and was probably a random occurrence.
Review 88:Great value, clean, friendly, comfy bed.
Review 89:The room was good; the owner provided me with an upgrade to a very large room with lots of windows and a porch and two large beds for no cost and no haggle. The location is good for a trip to Tuckerman's and there is a great breakfast spot right up the road on the way to the mountain. The location also close to the Moat--a popular bar and dinner spot. I would use the hotel as a home base again. In terms of value compared to the Dodge Lodge at Pinkham Notch, the Swiss Chalet was much better.
Review 90:The staff was very friendly. They helped us with where to go to dinner and gave us a room in one of the cute chalets. We appreciated that as I traveled with my mother and she has trouble walking up and down stairs. These only had one medium size step to get to the room! Breakfast was great also. A lot of choices.
Review 91:Breakfast good first day, but was terrible rest of time. No eggs after first day. Only what looked like warmed over, leftover sausage. Just stuck to coffee those 2 days. The first day the guy that checked us in had a great breakfast out but when owner returned, it was a real lousy breakfast which was a letdown.
Review 92:Hot tub fireplace king suite was great!
Review 93:My boyfriend and I got the suite with the fireplace and jacuzzi. After trekking for the entire day, our sore muscles welcomed the hot tub. The bed was really soft and the room was clean, though outdated. Location is great as well.
Review 94:3 young guys, 3 nights during ski season (one being mlk day) came to about $315. This was not much more than a cheap motel...and this room was very clean, had two comfortable beds, a mini fridge, had a heater with thermostat that worked and went high. Good hot water that didn't run out nice strong water pressure. Those are two of the most important things to me. The rooms also had a balcony, though it was too cold to make much use of ours, it would probably be pretty nice in the summer. Pool and hot tub are outside, above ground and obviously not open in the winter. The 'game room' was kind of a joke, but we didn't really care--weren't there to play pool. The guy that runs the joint is nice and friendly. Breakfast is included and I had waffles, muffins, cereal, coffee and apple/orange juice every morning. Overall, it looked to be the best value on paper..and after my trip I definitely feel like my money was well spent.
Review 95:Oh the static! Between the blankets, the dry air and my pants sticking to me, I still had a great time.
Review 96:I loved how it was near the mountains and could see them right out of the porch. Very close to just about everything and easy to get too. Staff was amazing!
Review 97:The room was a little dated but for the value it was perfect!
Review 98:We stayed in a room with two queen beds and a sofa bed and we were all amazed by how clean the room was. The free breakfast had something for everyone The man at the front desk was very nice The room was the perfect size and the three of us didn't feel crammed
Review 99:- Beds weren't very comfortable. They were OK, but not comfy. - I didn't feel that the quality of the hotel warranted its price.
Review 100:- Family-run establishment with HUGE rooms - Great location
Review 101:room had no heat on when we arrived and it was cold. Didn't take long for it to warm up.
Review 102:Room was clean, good customer service, nice breakfast, wi fi available
Review 103:hotel staff were very kind - this is a very basic motel - price was right - bed was like my own bed at home - I think they spent extra $$ on the mattress because mine at home is in the more expensive category and theirs felt like ours - if you are looking for inexpensive but really nice - this is the place!
Review 104:The place was a "VERY EXPENSIVE" hole in the wall. The staff (owners???) were very rude and lacked business skills. They shouldn't be running a franchise business. They are giving a very poor image of this company! The worst stay we EVER had at any hotel or motel in any part of the world!!! Terrible!!!
Review 105:Nothing!!!
Review 106:Heater in room was very noisy and outside deck needs repair.
Review 107:Breakfast was very good, excellent coffee and dining area very clean. Owner greeted many guests to ensure accommodations were satisfactory.
Review 108:A bit out of town No coffee machine in rooms - but coffee available free any time for reception
Review 109:Good well equipped rooms, comfy beds, excellent breakfast
Review 110:Although we really didn't need the Wi-Fi it would have nice to have a stronger signal.
Review 111:The couple that operate the motel were extremely nice. Loved the waffle maker for the continental breakfast. The location was great for our weekend excursion.
Review 112:We asked for a hot tube which was excellent. But the water needs to be changed. As well as the hot tube was running all night long which made the room nice and toasty. Good thing but at times it was to humid in the room.
Review 113:My husband and I were away for our 18 year wedding anniversary. We wanted something quite and peaceful and it was just that. We definitely will be returning here real soon.
Review 114:The tub drain would not close for a bath. I let the desk know when we left and he wrote it down but did not apologize for the inconvenience.
Review 115:The breakfast options were great, especially the waffle maker. Everything was clean and tidy.
Review 116:Owner seemed a bit miffed that we had got a good deal by booking early! Room was hot and some windows did not open.
Review 117:Large room with easy access and doors to veranda. Games room.
Review 118:The AC in our room did not work. It was a very hot fall weekend and the room ended up being in the 80's all weekend..
Review 119:Location, Hot Tub, nice room for the money.
Review 120:Quite noisy from the nearby road and the air conditioning unit downstairs.
Review 121:Everything here was good. The re-furbished room was comfortable with everything expected from a motel. Breakfast was fine with a good choice. Staff were friendly and had time to chat.
Review 122:Rooms a bit small Bit far to nearest restaurants (no restaurant on site although free hot breakfast in reception)
Review 123:Location Value for money Quirky change from boring, characterless hotels
Review 124:Old and small bathroom. Small and crowded breakfast room, the breakfast could have been better for the price paid.
Review 125:Huge room and nice location. Comfortable beds and new LCD TV.
Review 126:First there are two levels so I can only speak for the lower level. I had a king size bed and what was called a sleep sofa. The room was very small and just enough room to move around in. The bathroom is small and not heated. This is New Hampshire give me a break no heat in the bathroom. The mattress on the king size bed was a sink hole and the so called sleep sofa which was actually a chair with a twin bed was terrible like sleeping on a bed of nails. I had to put pillows under me to not feel the springs. I guess that gives a new meaning to pillow top mattress. For the price I could of found a much better place to stay. If you are booking there make sure you are so tired you could sleep on a bed of nails and OBTW get ride of the 1970's look.
Review 127:Location, This is located centrally between Crawford notch and the center of North Conway. Easy to get around to other sites
Review 128:Rooms were comfortable and clean. Very nice breakfast and friendly staff. Located a few miles north of North Conway you are outside the city limits but close enough for enjoying the town or train ride. Rates were very reasonable for that area.
Review 129:Noisy upstairs guests, poor continental breakfast, no coffee in room, no tops for coffee cups to take coffee to room, no external garbage cans
Review 130:Convenient location, good free wi-fi, clean
Review 131:Breakfast is ok but there is no variety options. We stayed for 4 nights we had the same breakfast every other day. Waffle which is freshly made using the waffle machine... Scrambled egg, sausage are frozen and microwaved which I didn't like..
Review 132:Location, facilities, staff
Review 133:nice place good location, nice staff. we get an offer to upgrade our room for 10$ per night. we got the offer, and got a big room with little balcony, small bathroom and plenty off space. breakfast was fair. the carpets look a little bit old but the beds were ok.
