Review 1：We got there around 3pm but still our private room was not ready. This hostel is not that organized I guess. (oh, we always had to wait for towels everyday. )

Review 2：Well this is basically an Argentinians-running hostel in Brazil. Staffs were pretty helpful. Good value for money. Try Acai at the next door (Manoe? Manue?) . It was cheap and delicious!!!!

Review 9：Private rooms are really small. Swimming pool is not a pool, its so small its only for dipping your feet. Night staff does not understand english language at all. Really noisy and old air condition. Impossible to understand how to adjust shower water temperature. Temporary had one ant trail on the wall of my room.

Review 17：Bedding and walls were covered in stains and dirt; room was full of ants and spiders, with mosquitoes and bees visiting regularly through the windows; breakfast was stale bread and oxidized fruit; ceiling of our private room was obviously damaged - it extended 6-8 inches in center (appeared to be water damaged) and walls and ceiling were full of mold - we both had sinus infections for weeks; all noise was amplified (especially the foosball table which was being used at 2am); and the hostel was different than the one pictured. For the quality of our stay, the price was high.

Review 21：Too much! Tacky, overcrowded hostel with no personal touch - the problemwith being part of a big chain. Looks really nice when you walk in, withthe outside patio, pool etc, but rooms are crowded, soulless andrundown. My particular bathroom was horrendous - walls plastered inmould and a lukewarm, weak shower. Incidentally they actually paintedover the mould on my last day, so at least they recognised this! Alsohardly any plug sockets available anywhere - who doesn't havedevices to charge these days?! There are far cosier and more comfortableoptions on Paraty - go elsewhere!

Review 23：The dorm was essentially a corridor with 6 bunks leading to a small bathroom at the end. You couldn't sit on the loo straight as the cubicle was so small. Very noisy till 4a.m

Review 24：We liked the chill out areas-they had a good selection of hammocks however in the evenings and breakfast they were so full it was difficult to get a seat for my group of 3-which isnt a lot. They did offer food and a free cocktail in the evening for R$20-30. Which I thought was a good option even though we didn't have it. Location was great for town.

Review 25：Not much common area inside so when it rains, you may be forced to your room although the outside areas are mostly covered. Getting to/from reception with your belongings is kind of a pain as the path cuts through the common and bar area.

Review 29：Both myself and partner got food poisoning during our time in Paraty and requested bottom bunks but we were given top bunks (which was highly unhelpful when needing the toilet through out the night. Also tried upgrading but there were no available beds. Cut down our time in paraty by a day so we could get a good night sleep and seek medical attention in São Paulo, but was not liable for a refund on our last night which we didn't stay. I can understand not getting a refund, but when you're so ill and have no choice but to leave, it is a little unfair.

Review 33：Wifi only at reception is not always a bad thing, but when this is the case and on a Friday night music blaring with no other option for wifi was a real problem. The sign said there was a second network in the TV room but it didn't exist; the staff didn't have an explanation. Needed a towel and was willing to pay for it, but was told none available because the the suites all needed two towels each.....errr, whatever the reason, towel provision, even if not free, is rudimentary for backpackers.

Review 35：Our 10 bed dorm was pretty cosy and only had 2 power points and to turn on the light switch for our room you had to lean across someone's bed. Also the toilet always smelt like stale urine. The kitchen facilities weren't the best, of teen dirty and there was a lack of plates and cutlery.

Bar & reception staff were very friendly and willing to help with any questions and they also offer a wide range of daily tours. Our room had air conditioning which we could turn on whenever we liked. Gas stove in the kitchen was easy to use.

We stayed in a double with shower etc which was ok for the price but every night ( we were there sunday to wednesday ) they played loud music until 1 am after the first couple of nights we complain and then they turned it off at 12 am . The place looks relaxing but when asking for basic info like how much is laundry or even ... where is my laundry staff seemed lost . The place felt like we were staying at someones house not that we were paying guests. If you are single and looking to meet people this place is for you.

Review 117：This hotel is actually nothing more than a poor quality hostel with great pretensions and a very bad service, together with according facilities. An unjustifiably overpriced and lousy place to stay. Don't get confused (as I was) with the Che Lagarto Hostel. The suite is in another building, across the street from the hostel. It's very simple. Towels and linens are new and the suite is clean, but small and unattractive. It does not have a fridge. The breakfast is very bad and the windows of the bedrooms, which have no glass but just a wooden blind, open into the noisy hall where all the guests go to their rooms. The staff are unfriendly and very noisy. You will definitely find much better options in Paraty by this value. I absolutely don't recommend it.

Review 118：Although we paid too much, we did not like the hostel. Hostel may be good for only very young travelers who are looking for party every night. If you want to see the culture and beauty of a new place and have a good sleep in the night, do not choose this hostel. Because all the night there is a party with disturbing noise, music. The rooms are not comfortable, the furniture very old, the bathroom is awful. We can not say even it is clean. The first night when we look the room given, we saw a dirty bathroom and warned the staff. The staff did not interested on this issue because they were more interested on the party and facebook. They said that there was no one to clean the room at that hour and next day the room would be cleaned. However next day, after we came from city tour, we saw that the bathroom was still dirty. the breakfast was not satisfactory, we left always hungry. they did not know cheese although the hostel tries to be an international hostel. I do not recommend this hostel. With similar budget, you would stay in better hostels.

Review 119：Value for money. Its common with chains to hike the price, I think it's a franchise though so not all Lagarto a are equal.

Review 120：Paraty is a great place and Che Lagarto was central to that. The staff were friendly and the vibe was nice.

Review 121：Internet access didn't work well not even in the common areas. I had to insist many time to the staff that they change my towels. I think they just forgot or maybe everybody asks the same since they get dirty too often when returning from the beach.. I would recommend them to have a list of medical doctors. I was sick during my last 2 days and they didn't have information to call a doctor or something. Apart from this, wonderful hostel and I strongly recommend it to anyone !!
