Reviews for Silonque Bush Estate

Review 1:There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms, and one unit did not work when we arrived - it was late so we did not report the problem. The staff was very responsive the next day - but continued to have a problem with the unit. The location is about 15 minutes from the town and park entrance up a gravel road. If you're staying put, this is a great place to hang out - but a bit far from the park.

Review 2:It is a beautiful estate with your own house. Animals run free around the estate.

Review 3:The place is lovely, if I have to give a little minus, it are for the gravel road to the place. Prepare for a bumby road (if you not drive a 4x4).

Review 4:Friendly staff, Clean room, nice relaxing place.

Review 5:Very helpful and friendly staff. Great location for access to Kruger Park and the local shops etc. Loved waking up with the animals on our doorstep in the bush, a real natural experience with added comfort.

Review 6:Inge, Maria and Patrick have been incredibly kind and helpful hosts! They were always there for us even late at night when we had big problems with our car! If you book Silonque you'll get the full-comfort package in a lovely quiet place with Elephants, Kudus and many more walking past your breakfast terrasse.

Review 7:Staff are friendly and helpful, the cottages comfortable and well equipped for self catering, breakfast excellent and the lodge is set in quiet natural bush land. A great place for a relaxing, quiet escape, close to KNP and the restaurants of Pharlaborwa.

Review 8:Would advise to have a car if staying at this property as it is remotely located. However, a car will enable you to get into town, say you want to participate in other activities..

Review 9:I had a wonderful time at Silonque. Maria, who manages the property went above and beyond in ensuring that I had a good stay by arranging my transfer and other things. Likewise, the other staff, Pretty, ensured that I was comfortable in the house. The Estate is beautiful, and I will recommend it to anyone who loves quiet.

Review 10:My partner and I loved everything. The peacefulness and tranquility of the estate is mind blowing! Perfect place closely located to the Kruger Park and the Olifants River. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Review 11:Suggestion to light up pool and covered bar area at night or to keep light on till 9 ish as b both night we walked up to get a drink it was too dark to see anything..

Review 12:The staff were very friendly and the setting great. Excellent positioning to Kruger Park. The units are lovely sizes. Really enjoyed our stay.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:The staff were extremely accommodating. The property was nicely located for the Kruger park. The accommodation was spacious clean and comfortable. Extremely good value for money.

Review 15:The staff at reception were very welcoming. The unit was spotless and extremely comfortable. We loved being able to sit out in the evening and watch a porcupine scuttling about. The lady who cleaned the unit was friendly and took the time to see if my daughter needed anything while she was in the unit alone(daughter is grown up but I still value the care !)

Review 16:Independence, comfort and the african night. A Kudou close to our veranda and a zebra on the drive, Lovely pool and breakfast. Wish we had stayed longer

Review 17:Nothing!!!

Review 18:Friendliness of the staff on arrival set the scene for a wonderful overnight stay at Silonque. We were upgraded to a larger lodge after a 24hour trip from the UK which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. Lovely breakfast the following morning which set us up well for our first day into the Kruger Park. I would highly recommend it and not just for one night. Wish we had spent more time there as it is so peaceful and right on the border of the KNP.

Review 19:Very small soap in the bath room.

Review 20:Very very fast and free WIFI Proper satellite TV and many channels Lots of space Located in a small game reserve bording Kruger park Good utensils in the kitchen

Review 21:The dirt road to the place is not good and we had hoped there would be a view into Kruger across a river or something but unfortunately there wasn't.

Review 22:We had a large Chalet with everything we needed available for us when we arrived. We had arrived very early and were expecting to be told the accommodation was not ready yet and were pleasantly surprised to be told it was ready for us, even though it had been let the previous night. As the accommodation was great and the staff helpful we would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Review 23:It was out of town down a dirt track which didn't bother us but some may find it restricting. It was worth the trip to get to this stunning place.

Review 24:A great place with very friendly staff who couldn't do enoug to help. 3 of us originally booked into 2 rooms and got upgraded into a family unit which was stunning, 2 bedrooms both with en-suites, a lounge and a kitchen. Great easy access to the Kruger National Park.

Review 25:Very good aircon Amazing pools Not crowded Great kitchen - huge gas oven Hyena visited the watering hole each night Excellent en-suits to each room

Review 26:The fact that I could not share this with someone else at the time as I was traveling for business.

Review 27:Absolutely loved the setting bordering on the Kruger. Incredible hospitality. Very quiet. Neat and clean. Highly recommended.

Review 28:we were a family of 6 adults(2 elderly people )and were staying just for 1 night but we enjoyed the comfortable ,spacious and well equipped house and surroundings with the drinking waterhole for game(we saw waterbuck and impala).definitely your money "s worth.

Review 29:We didn't stay longer.

Review 30:The location of this resort is absotely perfect. We had elephants and other wildlife roaming through at night. Its also very close to the main gate. Pascal and Laura were great hosts. So inviting and very accommodating to our needs. The guest houses are first class. Plenty of space, plenty of privacy. There were beautiful pools and tennis courts on property. It was just a perfect place and experience.

Review 31:Road is long and bad if you have to go to the Kruger Park everyday. Staff did not replace bathroom soap, etc everyday. We had to ask.

Review 32:Beautiful surroundings, lovely little house with a great view. Everything you need for a short visit.

Review 33:- Perhaps a bit far (20 minutes) from Phalaborwa gate... but this is also the price for the quietness - It is very sad to leave this place, and if you succeed you want immediately to come back ! :-)

Review 34:The lodge was very comfortable, with a lot of space, very nicely decorated with all the comfort that you wouldn't expect there. The bedrooms are very nice and cosy. And people there are so friendly and lovely. Really excellent for preparing the next expedition in the Kruger park and resting a few days.... all this for a very reasonable price.

Review 35:The decoration and style of our house was not as attractive as it as it could have been. More effort will improve the experience a lot. Also sustainability and environmental awareness can be improved. For example we had one small and one large refrigerator. Another issue is electronic devices on standby. The sustainability tips given in the welcome book can be improved a lot. There's potential:o).

Review 36:If you like privacy, self-catering apartments and nature Silienque Bush Estate is the place to be! You'll find all the comforts of home and it's only 20 min drive from Pharlabowa - one of the main gates to Kruger National Park. Laura and Pascal are very pleasant and helpful striving to make your stay exceptional!

Review 37:no complains

Review 38:Perfect staff, very helpful. Equipment of kitchen, all included what you need. Microwave, toaster, hotplate. outside grill. Perfect even for longer stay. Very close to Phalaborwa gate = good starting point for early morning trip.

Review 39:Laura and Pascal best host you can ask for. Facilities were excellent overall and well tended by the staff. Privacy was a plus in the middle that area where many animal come almost to your door. Yes, roads to get there are not the best, but with a car no problem.

Review 40:Finding the light switches. Leaving so soon and getting dark so early.

Review 41:Space, space and more space. Lounge, bedroom and bathroom and kitchen had all I needed, well balanced with not to much yet short of nothing. Even the sewing kit was provided for. Truly set in the bushveld, everywhere to run and everywhere to hide. Buck greeting you in morning and Hyena saying goodnight. It was truly a break from work and a home away from home.

Review 42:Place is nice and quite, place to have peace of mind and rest

Review 43:the bad road to this location

Review 44:The location of this property.

Review 45:Some of the rooms doesn't have Air condition and Phalaborwa area is very hot during summer.

Review 46:Quietness

Review 47:Poor refrigeration Poor Road to entrance

Review 48:I loved the hospitality

Review 49:We stayed in a lovely house set in the African bush - it was very relaxing and beautiful. The staff was fabulous.

Review 50:Fan in bedroom didn't work properly and aircon leaked water

Review 65:Location. 10 km plus.To far from town. No dinner option on site. No TV or air conditioning in the bedroom. No real view.

Review 66:Quite . good unit size.

Review 67:It was absolutely wonderful.

Review 68:The peace and quiet. It was close to Kruger Park. The staff were very helpful.

Review 69:Space, solitude, animals, wi-fi

Review 70:None

Review 71:Everything was spot on

Review 72:Really enjoyed my stay , pity it was for a one night, can't wait to go back.

Review 73:Friendly management and staff especially Pascal and Pretty, beautifull accomodation and surroundings next to KNP, quiet and relaxed atmosphere

Review 74:We had a long trip and your lodge was perfect. Great bath the wife very happy as we're all our party. Breaky was fantastic

Review 75:Nothing to list !!

Review 76:Privacy Silence The Impala and other animals The "comfy" bed The beautiful bathroom. Too much to list

Review 77:Thats a big word, but be aware that they have no restaurant or drinks. The breakfast is good. There are some good restaurants at the Kruger gate. Non restaurant give you the opportunity to explore the restaurants in the area.

Review 78:The location is great, with small wild. The pool area is also wonderfull.

Review 79:Not enough hot water. Everything else great.

Review 80:Staff were very friendly & made the stay memorable. Some items which got left behind are being stored till next visit. Quiet & restful location.

Review 81:We liked very much the whole setting, the mix of being in the middle of the bush, among impalas and the sounds of a nature reserve and, at the same time, enjoying the luxury of two pools, of Internet, of a sumptuous breakfast in the morning which comes with delicious coffee. The house was comfortable and nicely designed. The way the managers are looking after you is just perfect. Thank you Laura and Pascal, we had a great time at Silonque Bush Estate!

Review 82:It is sad that the Phalaborwa Municipality care so little about their town and surrounding area's roads and therefore the residents, visitors and tourists' safety on the fast becoming non existent tar roads. The R40 and R71 roads are death traps to say the least. One would think that the Phalaborwa Municipality would invest in their beautiful town with the Kruger Park on its doorstep and the town of Phalaborwa being a gateway for overseas tourism....

Review 83:Silonque's managers are a breath of fresh air in the South African Tourism industry from which others can definitely learn a thing or two.... Even before we got to Silonque I felt spoiled by all the help and info we received from Laura and her staff who went out of their way to accommodate our circumstances! Laura and Pascal are attentive hosts who put their guests' needs before their own.

Review 84:The lodge was far from the entry gate and town. The road was rough. We felt that the grounds needed more attention. The kitchen utensils were quite basic for a family that required to cook.

Review 85:The villa was large and built with African character. The host was most helpful and accommodating with tips on visiting Kruger. and any needs we required. The pools were most welcome after a big day in Kruger.

Review 86:Nothing!

Review 87:Hosts, Laura and Pascal, were exceptionally friendly and very helpful with everything, including offering to arrange game park drives and sharing a glass of wine with us at sunset. Accommodation was spacious, well kept, tidy and well equipped with all amenities. The bedrooms have their own bathroom facilities which were excellent. The deck overlooking the watering hole and Kruger Park was fantastic. Braai facilities and swimming pool were enjoyable. Wifi was good and always accessible. Cleaning staff were available daily, which was helpful. Location is excellent, close to Phalarborwa town and Kruger Park entrance gate. Short drive (10mins) on gravel road to get to the lodge. Lodge has some of their own animals (Kudu, Elephants, Hippo and Warthog) which roam around freely - a nice treat! Highly recommend this wonderful and affordable lodge for a relaxing holiday.

Review 88:A little off the beaten path but that was part of the charm.

Review 89:Animals drank from the watering hole right behind our lodge. Kruger gate was minutes away. Facilities were impressive.

Review 90:No negative points, but it's worth noting that there's no shop / restaurant (yet), just so that you are well prepared prior to heading towards Silonque bush estate. The closest shop is 15 minutes by car in Phalaborwa center, so please ensure you get some goods to cook / BBQ prior to driving the 15 minutes sandy road (which turned out to be easily doable even with our nissan micra).

Review 91:- Very nice couple that started this place as a dream to come true. - Very neat / clean houses with great terrace including bbq where animals occasionally walk by during night (we haven't seen any, though).

Review 92:Liked it all.

Review 93:Despite some poor luck with weather, our stay at Silonque was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. I know this has been said before, but it is only the truth: Laura and Pascal are exceptional hosts who go above and beyond to make sure your stay at the Estate exceeds expectations. The fantastic service started on day 1, when we arrived only to find we had been upgraded (without even asking!) to a larger suite, just because it so happened to be available given the days we were booked for. Never in all of my travels have I had such an awesome display of customer service and just plain honesty and friendliness as what we were shown. The accommodations were beautiful and extremely comfortable, and great care has been taken to make the estate a true bush experience (wildlife included!!), with all the comforts and cleanliness of home. I would absolutely recommend Silonque Bush Estate and hope to visit again soon.

Review 94:We can't think of anything we didn't like about silonque and thesuperb owners.

Review 95:Laura and pascal are superb hosts, it's the year 2013 and we wereamazed with the effort they went to, to ensure we had an excellent stay.It makes a very pleasant change to stay somewhere so welcoming andlovely. It's an amazing place which will only get better

Review 96:The map to get there is very deceiving and so is the coordinates. The other guests had the same complaint. No communication between gate and office after gate guard has left. No information given of animals in estate, would have loved to see them but did not even know there were any.

Review 97:The friendly staff and there friendly help. The accommodation was brilliant. Restaurant is very nice and very well decorated. Felt at home, restful and in touch with nature. Love the thatch roofs. Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended to anyone.

Review 98:Pascal & Laura were extremely welcoming & friendly. It is a lovely setting well appointed chalets. Pool area and boma are gorgeous, we however did not get to use this area as it is winter. Amazing birds and wildlife. Great place to stay if you wish to visit the Kruger or to play some golf. The best part is that it is still really good value for money. We will certainly tell our friends.

Review 99:I liked the fact that the lodges are in the middle of the bush but close to a town where you can get everything and off course the Krugerpark. Thr rooms are very comfortable and it is an excellent place to enjoy peace and nature, with a lot of privacy.

Review 100:The fact that it is self catering BUT it can be overlooked due to the grocery service offered.

Review 101:Basically everything.

Review 102:nothing

Review 103:big animals in the estate

Review 104:The Long dirt road to the Estate

Review 105:there is no network, no game drive, no resturant

Review 107:n/a

Review 108:Pascal was very professional and friendly. this time was business but next time going with my wife and kids. and every year from now on.

Review 109:the road to the estate is not very good if you have a regular car.

Review 110:nice house, staff, owners, place, beds, views and breakfast. for a very good price

Review 111:We loved the cosy feeling and the privacy of the chalets The Manager and his wife were excellent hosts

Review 112:none

Review 113:The nature ,walking roads , space in the wildlife and accommodation. Friendly service and clean accommodation.

Review 114:liked everything

Review 115:The bed :) Neat ,clean and comfortable and luxurious

Review 116:The access road real sinkplaat pad

Review 117:Very friendly picturisique relaxing clean
