Reviews for L'Hôtel St. James

Review 1:They rushed to clean out room. The bed was not very well and looked like it had perilously been slept in. There was not a way to make the room darker because the curtains were just decorative which made sleeping difficult. Our room was left cracked open with the door lock when we went up to our room. The resuturant downstairs was so loud we could hear the music and the people until very early morning hours.

Review 2:Modern feel, great location, cute room, generally friendly staff.

Review 3:The room was very clean and very comfortable. It had been awhile since my husband and I had been away and the whole experience was top notch. we have been asked since our return "how was your weekend trip " suggested to everyone that they should have the experience at your hotel.

Review 4:If you're in Moncton for a good time (not an early rest), this is the best spot. Right in the heart of the action, personalized service and room decorated with taste.

Review 5:Bedroom 301 is over patio you can hear the people outside talking and laughing. Not good if you need to sleep earlier. Traffic was noisy in the am. Trucks etc

Review 6:The look of the room ambiance.

Review 7:The music from the bar downstairs, but we knew before booking that it would be normal since we were on top of the bar.

Review 8:The junior suite was just amazing. We liked everything about it. So clean, nice big spa bath in the room.. Comfy bed comfy pillow , just an awsome room

Review 9:At 2 in the morning our room was broken in to by a man that worked for the hotel!! Thank goodness my husband remembered to put the safety latch on because the man shouldered the door several times trying to get in. The management of the hotel hs never contacted us to apologize or find out more about this. The man did yell at us that he had looked in the computer and he thought the room was vacant. He obviously is a hotel employee. Do not stay here, it isn't safe.

Review 10:The hotel is two floors above a pub which has live music. We stayed on a Saturday night and the band started at 10 and stopped at 130. Guess that's why there was complimentary ear plugs in the room. I complained to the lady at the front desk the next morning and the response was. "Yeah, we get that complaint a lot". nice hotel but won't be going back.

Review 11:Great location in downtown moncton. Close to main street shops and restaurants.

Review 12:no food service on Sunday.

Review 13:I liked the fact that different then most hotels. I stay in lots of hotels that are all very similar this one had some charm,

Review 14:The room was smaller than in the pictures and there was a massive wad of hair in the sprinkler in the washroom.

Review 15:We loved the location and the view from our room, #301. The staff was great!

Review 16:The wi-fi did not work in my room and there was a lot of noise from the street and restaurant below.

Review 17:Spacious comfortable room and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 18:Some might find not having an elevator a negative.

Review 19:Room has great space and feel to it. Modern, clean with a lot of light. Very comfortable! The food at the St James Bistro made for a complete dining experience. Whole experience VERY ENJOYABLE!!

Review 20:A little bit a bar noise. We were on the third floor facing the street (room 302). One night we heard loud conversations and general bar noise until quite late. It wasn't super loud and foam earplugs were provided, but it did affect my sleeping a little.

Review 21:We really liked the modern style of the hotel. The staff was excellent and very attentive. They provided a decent continental breakfast. They also provided parking in the garage across the street at no charge.

Review 22:Had to climb 20 stairs and go through a restaurant /Bar just to get to the lobby. After that had to climb another 20 stairs just to get to our room. Bar was loud below us until 2 AM. So difficult to sleep. See through toilet and shower into bed space. No privacy! Continental breakfast consisted of 4 stale Danishes.

Review 23:Location was good

Review 24:The curtains don't shut so it was very bright in the morning. Would be nice if there was a bit of privacy between the bedroom and bathroom. To many stairs

Review 25:Room was clean. Complimentary wine on check in was nice.

Review 26:Everything room was very nice and unique

Review 27:very clean and quiet close to all downtown activities

Review 31:Welcome glass of wine was much appreciated...they even brought it up to the room. Great bar on the first floor.

Review 32:Everything ... Staff friendly...beautiful boutique hotel...downtown close to everything.

Review 33:The reception and offer of a glass of wine upon our check in.

Review 34:No elevator, but I could use the exercise.

Review 35:The staff was very nice. Stayed Until I Arrived which was very late.

Review 36:No cooked breakfast.

Review 37:Well equipped and stylish room with large shower.

Review 38:Very, very noisy.

Review 39:Nice decor, great food.

Review 40:Great, unique rooms Cool atmosphere Amazing bathtub

Review 41:The noise from the bands late at night!

Review 42:Great Pub too. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay downtown Moncton.

Review 43:Nobody told me that the room I was booking was right over a pub rm 202...it was so loud that I never fell asleep until 4am....I went to look at the reception desk at 11pm but nonone was there and I did not know that I could call someone for assistance.I did find ear plug but they were of no help....alot of information not provided by the staff. I feel that for 225.00 that I should not have to put up with this. I feel as if I have been ripped off...the room itself was lovely...although the tub leaks an awful lot of water..not really my problem though.. definately did not reach my expectation and will not be recommending this hotel unless I receive a call back from the manager....too bad was very excited for this weekend but all i am now is tired and fustrated..thanks hotel st james for nothing but a ruined weekend

Review 44:Since I slept there on a Friday night, I could clearly hear the loud music at the bar.. So If you're looking for a good night of sleep... It might not be the place to go.

Review 45:Beautiful and modern room, very comfortable!

Review 46:Stairs weren't ideal but not big deal, don't let that scare you away. I didn't have problem, but Rm 202 could be noisy being right on top of restaurant/pub if people were loud outside but they supply earplugs in case. Very smart. I didn't hear music or anything though.

Review 47:Beautiful luxurious room: stayed in rm 202, great space, modern bathroom, nice comfy bed. Man who checked me in great- fast, helpful, funny...oh & NICE touch with the glass of wine. What a treat after long drive! Check this place out...you'll love it!

Review 48:Dirty floors and washroom. My feet were black. The Bar downstairs is really loud until 2am if you need to sleep. The noise continued all night as you can hear everything in the hotel. Someone started building an ark or something at 3:30 am and then other guests started making a lot of noise around 5am. They need to invest in soundproofing.

Review 49:Friendly staff, good location,

Review 50:Bar downstairs very noisy until 0200hrs Sunday. Dust covered cobwebs at ceiling. Dust fluff on floor. Cold breakfast nothing special for a hotel described as boutique and priced a lot higher than hotels that offer similar breakfast.

Review 51:Excellent food in bar downstairs. Central location.

Review 52:The stairs were a little annoying; luckily we were only there for one night and didn't have much baggage to carry up the stairs. The bathroom was a little awkward - a see through shower, I can deal with, but the whole bathroom had a see through wall. My boyfriend and I got ill from the food at the pub downstairs and spent all night rotating through the bathroom while the other had no choice but to watch from the bed because the bathroom was completely open.

Review 53:Great location in the heart of "downtown" Moncton Very clean Very modern décor Large room Free breakfast in the lobby with a large selection of cereal, bagels, toast, jam, milk, juice, coffee etc.

Review 54:stairs posed a bit of challenge although not a big issue, lower pillows would be appreciated

Review 55:spacious and calm room, friendly and helpful staff, excellent restaurant downstairs, general feeling of the hotel, wine upon arrival

Review 56:The noise of City crews washing the structure next door was very annoying. The staff was very apologetic but it still made for a restless night

Review 57:Great location, great staff

Review 58:It was right on top of a bar, with VERY loud music that goes on 5 nights a week. it shoudl say this when you book. i would never stay there again, as i was there on business and got no sleep.

Review 59:the hotel was nicely renovated and the staff were very nice.

Review 60:Pub noise under accommodation. People taking till 3am - close for pub.

Review 61:WiFi is an open network and is accessible from the restaurant/Bar. Please consider password protection for hotel guests.

Review 62:Very inviting, clean, comfortable, well appointed room. The entire staff was exceedingly helpful and accommodating. Thank you.

Review 63:The room was beautiful! The staff were amazing and everything was great!

Review 64:No privacy for toilet

Review 66:Everything was wonderful, would recommend to anyone.

Review 67:Some wear and tear in room. Noisy at some points of the night.

Review 68:Modern atmosphere

Review 69:the only thing I didn't really like was the noise at night because the bar is right underneath of the rooms. besides that, no complaints.
