Reviews for Hotel Capstone
Review 1:The front desk staff were friendly and helpful with directions and restaurant tips. The cleaning staff were also very friendly. My daughter and I had a great experience at this hotel.
Review 2:Amenities not up to par. A $200 a night room should at least have a mini fridge . And the hardware on shower door as well as in wall of shore were loose . Only had a partial roll of toilet paper (no extra) in bathroom . The room was nice but for the price it's a tad lacking in details .
Review 3:Staff was excellent . Very clean , great location .
Review 4:My daughter and I were visiting University of Alabama. The property was on campus and that was a huge plus. The hotel staff were super helpful. Rooms were nice and most of all the beds were comfy.
Review 5:The plumbing and Air Conditioning Vents need a LOT of cleaning. The tub was still full of water 1 hour after taking a shower. The ventilation system hasn't been cleaned in years, as evidence by the dust trapped by the popcorn ceiling. The lobby was clean and staff was helpful, however the elevator tracks start to shows the lack of attention to detail.
Review 6:The Hotel has been partially renovated and at first glance looks presentable.
Review 7:The Capstone is the only hotel we go to when we come for an Alabama game! Roll Tide!! It's a tradition of the staff, the bar, and fans that you meet there!
Review 8:I was looking forward to a hot bath but I didn't know I was getting a room with just a shower. It was very disappointing. I didn't call because I was just too tired to move to another room. I think when a tub is not in a room, that should be told when checking in.
Review 9:Location, quiet, and prompt room service. Front desk staff were awesome.
Review 10:The lounge area was very understaffed. The rooms could have been cleaner and there were no towel racks. The hallways were freezing and the carpeting was dirty.
Review 11:The location is superb and the staff is friendly . The breakfast buffet and wait staff is outstanding.
Review 12:The air conditioner made a bit of an odd noise, and the control knobs were from 1986. :) But it definitely worked well.
Review 13:Location can't be beat. Bathroom is updated and modern. Seeing the players walk through the lobby was pretty cool, too.
Review 14:The "queen beds" must have barely been wide enough to be considered Queen. They slept more like a double bed as we have queen beds at home. The description of the room said "2 queen room". We chose this Hotel due to the add stating there were 2 queen size beds and it's location. Had we known the size of the beds, we would have stayed somewhere with free breakfast
Review 15:The location was perfect. WIFI was there when needed.
Review 16:Slow draining sink bathroom, worn out rooms, staff not picking up room service trays in the hall by the elevator....the food and garbage sat there over 12 hours
Review 17:Comfortable beds. Breakfast (cost extra), interesting lobby
Review 18:We liked it all. We stayed for 8 days and had no issues.
Review 19:We Loved how close it was to the University of Alabama. We could walk everywhere . The staff was excellent and we felt like the price of the hotel, and restaurant were both an excellent value.
Review 20:For the price, the breakfast was not worth the extra money. Should be free for what you receive. The only difference between this and other hotels is a waiter. Food selection is exactly the same.
Review 21:Love the atmosphere being inside the UA campus.
Review 22:We came in for graduation ceremonies which were right across the street from the hotel which made it very convenient. Staff was engaging and very helpful. Rooms were very clean.
Review 23:Poor lighting, not well constructed,..paint peeling .. Fluorescentlighting for bathroom mirror The auburn hotel is much nicer.. Alsocomplimentary coffee in the lobby would be nice as most hotels at leastoffer that
Review 24:Location and air condition worked well
Review 25:The bathroom in room 203 was very small and the door could not open all the way. In order for me to function in the bathroom I had to walk in shut door then open the shower door then shut door. The walls were marked up and the wall paper was chipped off. The bathroom door had marks on it and it was not cleaned.
Review 26:The breakfast was nice and when I asked to change the room I was accommodated immediately.
Review 27:We got there late and ordered our supper to the room and my daughter ordered a salad and the lettuce was brown. There was a noise all night sounded like a helicopter about too take off. Notheing was a deal breaker though.
Review 28:The food was great except for the salad.
Review 29:The room was a little disappointing. There was some water damage on the ceiling and the room was a little cramped for the price.
Review 30:Location is convenient to the Univerdity of Alabama's campus. Breakfast buffet was pretty good.
Review 31:There wasn't anything bad about our experience.
Review 32:I liked that the hotel is located so close to The University of Alabama and we could walk around the campus and to dinner without getting into our car.
Review 33:charged twice for breakfast. had a large group of young cheerleaders that came in to stay at the hotel. they were not a problem. the hotel was kind enough to warn us of potential noise problems, and graciously moved us the second night to another room that was down the hall. it was a larger room which was fantastic and we were assured that it would not cost anything extra. we were Billed for the upgrade and cost us close to $200
Review 34:the service was wonderful, they room very clean always.
Review 35:Cleanliness was an issue. For a 200 dollar a night stay it just did not seem up to par. The paint on the walls was chipped and had dirt smudges. We found empty vodka and champagne bottles in one of the cabinets. There were fingerprints all over the doors and headboards. The bathroom was very clean though.
Review 36:You can't beat the location if you want to be on UA campus grounds. The staff is also very friendly and helpful
Review 37:Air conditioning didn't work well even at lowest temperatures. Only one central creaky elevator far from room. Wanted to use stairwell but it had a fire alarm set to sound upon exit-as though no one uses stairs- archaic.
Review 38:Very comfortable bed. Clean, recently renovated room. Nice desk. Reasonably priced room service with surprisingly good desserts.
Review 39:The front desk staff was awesome. Because of a short wait while checking in, we were given vouchers for Breakfast the next morning. We were shuttled to our event at the Amphitheater and also were given recommendations for dinner. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. We would definately recommend this Hotel.
Review 40:The main reason I booked at this hotel is because it had an outdoor pool. Upon arrival I noticed a sign on the pool door that it was closed for maintenance :(. And it had been closed for weeks. I would have liked some notice - perhaps when closed for that long a note on your website would have been appreciated.
Review 41:We were there to visit University of Alabama with my daughter and it was a perfect location. Being right there on campus allowed us to walk everywhere! We will definitely be returning to stay here again!!
Review 42:The only thing that I could even mention negative would be the small bathroom and shower design in relation to the rest of the suite. It didn't effect our amazing stay, but it just doesn't go with the other luxurious perks in the room.
Review 43:Spacious suite with the large bar and closet space. Room service was superb with a wonderful set up for breakfast.
Review 44:The walls between rooms are quite thin. You can hear every word that neighbors or their tv's are saying. The elevators are the slowest! The hotel is only three floors! The stairs should be more readily accessible. Parking is crazy during Alabama sporting events.
Review 45:Didn't like there was no one in the restaurant for dinner, but it was a Tuesday evening. The breakfast buffet or continental breakfast was unavailable, so you had to pay for each item individually, even coffee!
Review 46:Nice hotel, clean, comfortable
Review 47:Hotel Capstone was easy access to everything we needed to see . Right across the street from the Atheltlic department and right next door to the Bryant Conference Center for University Days . We enjoyed our stay , and will be back more !
Review 48:No one was in the lobby, we had to wait about 15 to get checked in. Our room was not serviced (bed was not made and towels were not replaced) Poor customer service, no follow up and just seemed like a lot of money to spend for zero customer service.
Review 49:Location
Review 50:When we checked in we were given a handicap room without being told. We changed rooms and got a room with one tiny mirror in the bathroom. There should be an additional mirror in the living area so two people can dress at the same time. The room service breakfast was terrible. The pancakes were burned and the grits were runny.
Review 51:Rooms are nothing to be thrilled about at the high rate they charge..you are laying for location, not frills.
Review 52:Bar has a great selection of craft beers, which was surprising. Location for any UA need is great
Review 53:-Smoking by the pool (Should be a non-smoking hotel) -No coffee/no bagels/donuts in lobby - (Would expect this from all hotels today)
Review 54:-Wonderful location on the campus -Beautiful hotel -Two rooms connected since we were traveling with children
Review 55:service door next to the room squeaked anytime employee went in and out..other than that all great
Review 56:it's absolutely the best place to go if you're going to the University of Alabama or doing anything with the university
Review 57:ordered room service. The presentation was fair. Never told us about the fee involved for delivering the food to our room. Was not on the bill I signed when the food was delivered yet showed up on our bill when we checked out. They apologized, told us that the staff was suppose to inform us when ordering , yet they never did. Nor was the hefty fee mentioned on the room service menu. The walls in the bathroom were filthy with stains, should have been wiped down. Doors were sticky. Clearly they didn't wipe down woodwork or handles.
Review 58:I can honestly say there was nothing that we didn't like at this hotel. They know what they are doing.
Review 59:There really was nothing that we didn't like. We were moving our daughter back to school at UA and the location worked out wonderfully. Everything and everyone were wonderful.
Review 60:The room had splatters on one of the walls, which led me to feel it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. We were left without soap after a clean up one day, but luckily we had brought our own. By far the most disappointing experience was that there was complimentary coffee for only a thirtyinure window each morning, and there was no continental breakfast offered. If I wanted breakfast, I had to purchase it in the bistro. I found that a bit off putting. A muffin or a bagel with some coffee would have been more than sufficient, and for the price of the room each night, the hotel could've provided that.
Review 61:The locale was the most convenient part of my experience.
Review 62:small bathroom. only two elevators. And the one thing that no hotel seems to have any power over; the TV volume being super loud when you turn it on...weird
Review 63:Loved the convenient location being right on campus. Loved the comfort, loved the breakfasts we ordered from room service, loved it all. All the staff were very nice, helpful. It was great to be back home at the University of Alabama.
Review 64:Room we were in had scratched furniture and could use a make-over for the price. The bathroom was so small only 1 person could be inside and shower door opened out so bathroom door had to be closed to open and go inside.
Review 65:Beautiful lobby and throughout main facilities. Specially liked convenience of location within walking distance to museums, coliseum, stadium and food.
Review 66:The Hotel Capstone was conveniently located for the conference I attended at the Bryant Center. It is only a few minutes from a wide array of restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. The one detraction was a small bathroom facility. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 67:The hotel has holes in the wallpaper....the carpet is stained. Just needs a major redo then you will nail it with travelers. Loved the location.
Review 68:Loved the staff. Scored big with me
Review 69:Bed worn out which caused me to wake up with bad backache. Couldn't go back to sleep. Suggest you get new firmer beds. I never have this problem at embassy suites or marriott.
Review 70:Restaurant fare underwhelming. Returned to room after checkout and noticed that housekeepers had made the bed with my soiled sheets still on them. They politely attempted to dissuade me from re-entering the room. Yuck!
Review 71:Fantastic location, well appointed rooms, quiet, courteous staff
Review 72:The building was under constructioni in the restaurant. The air conditioning went out for almost the entire day on one of the hottest daysand one of the rooms had a pipe burst across the hall from where my sister was staying
Review 73:Staff was excellent, the locations was excellent
Review 74:Ceiling needed repair, chipped paint. Carpets need cleaning & stretching. Closet door rollers are rusty & need repair. Need exhaust fans in bathrooms.
Review 75:Location Beautiful entrance & hallway
Review 76:I was on 3rd floor, and it was really hot outside. The room felt damp. The carpet, bedding etc. I am usually cold, but the air was as high as it could go and it just was muggy in the room.
Review 77:Location perfect! Bar/restaurant on site. Beautiful lobby. Friendly staff!!
Review 78:Walls were a bit thin- we could hear the party crowd coming back - but wasn't too bad.
Review 79:The hotel staff could not have been nicer- front desk, restaurant, and housekeeping were all very pleasant. The location could not have been better as it's right on campus. Breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced.
Review 80:The old vent in room and the ongoing renovations.
Review 81:The staff is great..
Review 82:Chad at the reception desk !! Very friendly people everywhere in the hotel
Review 83:Temp controls were a bit off. Either burning hot or freezing cold. No middle ground.
Review 84:Ease of check in and check out.
Review 85:Love the location and the comfort of the room. Also it is in walking distance of everything. The bistro located at the hotel was wonderful.
Review 86:Nothing. We will be back
Review 87:Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Always asked if they could do anything to assist or make our stay more enjoyable.
Review 88:Clean and loved location. For the price continental breakfast would been great. But definitely not a deal breaker. Will be staying again.
Review 89:So close to campus. Perfect place to stay while visiting our son. Clean, comfortable, plenty of parking.
Review 90:Helpful front desk staff. Nice computer area.
Review 91:WE WISH IT WAS MORE AFFORDABLE DURING A FOOTBALL GAME SO WE DIDN'T HAVE TO STAY ELSEWHERE
Review 92:EVERYTHING
Review 93:Great location to stay if you have a campus tour scheduled.
Review 94:The location is perfect for the purposes I was in town.
Review 95:The hotel is the closest one to Campus, It's an older hotel that has been redone, very modern bathrooms and beds.
Review 96:Perfect for proximity to campus.
Review 97:Staff very personable and helpful. Perfect place to stay on game day.
Review 98:The computers in the Business Center had a very slow internet. This may have been a temporary server problem and not related to the hotel at all.
Review 99:Bathroom too small
Review 100:Clean, convenient to campus, large room, efficient and attentive staff.
Review 101:I can't get another reservation this week-end :-(
Review 102:I loved everything about this property (great staff)
Review 103:Mold in bathroom
Review 104:Friendly and convenient location
Review 105:Love being in the heart of campus. Great beds. Everyone very nice.
Review 106:The daily room clean up was not sufficient. Didn't take coffee cups and leave new ones.
Review 107:Location and service was excellent.
Review 108:Desk was dirty, coffee maker was dirty on the inside
Review 109:Nice staff and good location
Review 110:Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Clean rooms
Review 111:Bathroom is a little small.

Review 114:Great location for visiting university, very nice staff
Review 115:All good.
