Reviews for Casa Ybel Resort

Review 1:Beware of No-See-Uums. We also got a lot of bites during the night so there may be a fleas in the bed as well.

Review 2:It is a beautiful beach but we cannot come back, see remarks about fleas.

Review 3:No bad experiences here, only at other restaurants and bars

Review 4:There's no reason to leave the property because the Thistle Lodge and Coconuts Bar are the best on the Island for food and service. We tried a few other places but we're disappointed, there is no comparison. THE BAR TENDERS ARE the BEST!

Review 5:I didn't like having to pay $25 a day to have sun loungers and an umbrella put out on the beach for us, although they were assigned to us and had our apartment number on them. But (unless I paid an extra $5) they were taken in again at 5.00pm. At these prices I expected them to be provided automatically.

Review 6:I loved being right on the beach, the apartment was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. I was impressed to see hoists near the pool to allow disabled guests to still have access to the pool.

Review 7:For the cost, you'd think that certain things would be no cost. However, movie night for the kids was $40 per child. I like to cook and the kitchen was way too small.

Review 8:I loved the view of the gulf. The grills are a great idea, however, they'd be better out back so you can actually watch the ocean or pool while you cook.

Review 9:There was much to like about the Casa Ybel resort. The warm water, the sea life, the bounty of shells and the privacy made our stay a most pleasant one. We could be as active or as quiet as we wished. At the Thistle Lodge restaurant we had a meal best described in superlatives. Our stay was wonderful and we left wishing it could have been longer.

Review 10:My only suggestion would be to allow you to get into the beachside doors using your room key. Unfortunately you can only use the key on the front door of the units.

Review 11:Amazing property and location. Friendly staff and a couple of good dining options - one formal and one casual.

Review 12:Only felt with 2 employees that were cheerful and smiling and helpful. All others frowning and surly

Review 13:Very peaceful and beautiful. Although tons of guests no loud music, etc

Review 14:Very dirty outside of fridge and oven, but they were clean inside though... and everything was a little worn... rather 3,5 stars instead of 4,5... too expensive...

Review 15:Location and staff were 5 star... wonderful beach... roomy apartment...

Review 16:In the unit we had, 144, it needed a 1/2 bath downstairs. Pain to walk up stairs to go to the bathroom.

Review 17:Lovely beach, friendly bartenders, great food.

Review 18:Ran out of beach umbrellas, and it was too hot to sit on beach without one.

Review 19:Casa Ybel is a beautiful property, expensive but worth it for the luxury . Great beach, pool and restaurant. Suites are lovely and overlook the ocean.

Review 20:The AC/Furnace made a lot of noise. The drinks we ordered from the pool bar were not that great. The refrigerator and the oven are old and rusted.

Review 21:The proximity of the facility to the beach.

Review 22:Very expensive, and beware local taxes are extra. 35 dollars a day.

Review 23:Short walk to beach , that has the best shelling. Spacious well served apartment. Very quiet location.

Review 24:Several room issues.... One light did not work and the sink drain was broken. Not huge issues but for the price....

Review 25:Quiet location on the Ocean. Great pool! Excellent staff and room accommodations. A bit pricey.... Ocean front is to be expected$$

Review 26:Small bath Staff a little offhand Restaurant too expensive Noisy children at the pool (I know you can't get away from it unless you go to an adult only resort) American way of adding taxes at the end of the stay - this cost an additional $360 for 11 nights at checkput

Review 27:Two separate areas with sinks in the bath area Sea frontage Wildlife on beach Quiet and peaceful although this was off season - it is rumoured to be very busy in peak season when you need to book to get into any restaurant and traffic is far more congested Plenty of storage so able to keep the rooms clear of clutter

Review 28:The room was a bit dirty with mouse droppings in the kitchen cabinet that housed the toaster. The cleaning service was inconsistent...Friday crew was the best. Restaurant was amazing and the staff at the Tiki Bar was great.

Review 29:The location was amazing...the Gulf is right out the back door.

Review 30:Didn't like the fact that we had to leave.

Review 31:Really liked the beach access. Less than a 100yds from the beach. There are a lot of resorts that advertise their location on the beach but are offsite or a great distance. Beautiful grounds and somewhat secluded from the rest of the island. Worth every bit of the money.

Review 32:the grounds were beautiful , everyone was very friendly , the best place we've stayed at so far .

Review 33:i was affraid to meet alligatores in the evening

Review 34:Nice place Nice appartement

Review 35:The location and The beach

Review 36:Facility is dated. Shower barely worked. Charges for beach chairs is excessive based on room rate.

Review 37:Noseeumms.......full of stings

Review 38:great location, nice garden and pool, stylish houses, good restaurant, beautiful beach

Review 39:No workout facility

Review 40:Locale Cleanliness

Review 41:the heat this time of year!

Review 42:Very clean. very friendly, lovely restaurant

Review 43:Expensive for quality of room

Review 44:Nice location

Review 45:they collect beachchairs and umbrellas already at 5pm, thats too early when you charge 25 dollars

Review 46:beach, the view

Review 47:did not have our booking

Review 48:gave us upgrade because of not reserving correctly however made us feel like we owed something

Review 49:A little steep on the price per night.

Review 50:Location location location! !

Review 51:Think the beach chairs and umbrella should of been included

Review 52:quiet and privacy

Review 53:The room was not ready at check in (3:00pm). The wifi dropped connections.

Review 54:Complicated service for beach towels

Review 55:No see ums. Ha

Review 56:Loved having beach chairs available Pool bar and grill Jogging trails close. What not to like about Sanibel.

Review 57:Long walk to get and return towels from unit 106.

Review 58:Location and beach.

Review 59:Nothing bad. The mattress was soft and sagged toward the middle.

Review 60:The view from the suite was great and the screened-in porch was super.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:On the beach, big suite, good restaurant, nice pool and tennis courts. Liked being able to rent bikes on the property.

Review 63:The patio

Review 64:No breakfast options

Review 65:All extras were costly.

Review 66:The resort was well run and very clean.

Review 67:There were parts of the room that were not as clean as I hoped for the price...

Review 68:The quiet island setting was just what we needed.

Review 69:$300 experience for $600

Review 70:Not a lot of nightlife, if that's what you're looking for.

Review 71:Quiet, clean, and comfortable. Great bike trails and wildlife

Review 72:Casa Ybel is well located for the activities we are interested in. The staff was very helpful, especially the manager.

Review 73:nothing to say here

Review 74:Location x3-- Grounds well kept, staff friendly

Review 75:We loved that it was right on the beach , the view from our room was magical. It was a very relaxing visit and we look forward to going back

Review 76:Horrible rooms, no service around the pool till 11 am, Absolutely disgusting hygiene : the floor in the rooms was black from dust etc on our arrival date.. The management of this hotel should be ashamed of the cleanliness of the property!!!! Totally not acceptable. Very bad value for money proposition.

Review 77:Absolutely nothing

Review 78:It's very expensive ($569.00) per night. Beach chairs needed to be rented !! Should be included in the price. Room not wonderfully clean. I. E. Greasy front of coffee maker dirty dishes. Dishwasher didn't dry dishes. Blender didn't work

Review 79:The beach. The beautiful landscaping the location on the islands taffy very friendly and professional

Review 80:Preparedness of unit on night of arrival not great in a couple of areas (seemed an aberration), we complained, absolutely first-class on a daily basis subsequently. Somewhat pricey, but I guess that's high-season in Sanibel.

Review 81:Location on beach is fantastic, the fundamental attraction. Staff good to excellent. Restaurant looked quite nice, if a bit staid, but we did not eat there - no particular reason, just how it worked out. Rented bikes at pool, excellent.

Review 82:Shell path hard on bare feet, charging for beach chairs and umbrellas. Also, so many chairs on beach not being used took up a lot of space and crowded the area.

Review 83:The beauty of the grounds, cleanliness, upscale condo, the screened porch, coffee supplied in room, proximity to beach and bike path, shuffleboard, Coconuts, beach towels.

Review 84:They charge extra for chairs and umbrellas. For the price, seems likethey should be included. Also, no shower gel, just shampoo, soap, conditioner in the bathroom?

Review 85:Property is well maintained. Many amenities. WiFi is included. Pool areavery nice. Has smaller kiddie pool.

Review 86:lukewarm water in the shower, no windows that opened in the bedroom and the air conditioning in the room did not work

Review 87:beautiful spot, nice facilities, great food, really fun staff at the bar, incredible view

Review 88:That they charge you for beach chairs , that's a rip off as theresort is expensive as it is, and that the bars and restaurantsclose so early

Review 89:Location, beach, resort, gorgeous, view from room , stunning

Review 90:We can't think of a thing. What I would like to mention is that veryfew lower units have an unobstructed view of the Gulf because of thenatural foliage. When we go back we will request a top floor even thoughwe'll have to climb more stairs.

Review 91:We loved it!! We arrived at 3pm and our upgraded unit was ready. It wasa newly renovated time share unit that was magnificent. The grounds werebeautifully maintained and the staff responded immediately when weneeded a couple of fixes to our unit. The ac control needed a batteryand the repair was done immediately. We didn't have coffee in ourkitchen and it was delivered as soon as I hung up the phone.

Review 92:Staff were nice but could have done better Beach chairs were extra charge Rooms need to be updated - old Did not eat breakfast or lunch Dinner was terrible I would recommend to others but with comments of what to expect

Review 93:Location was very good Rooms were good size with great view Rooms were clean

Review 94:No housekeeping services during the 4 days I was there. The rooms look worn and need renovating.

Review 95:The beach location is excellent. The grounds are beautiful The staff is friendly

Review 96:No breakfast however there is a kitchen in a room

Review 97:Location is perfect, it's really quiet place. The rooms are clean, you rent bicycles and the swimming pool is very large.

Review 98:We are owners of a RCI Gold Crown resort that provides a washer & dryer in all units. It would have been nice to have them @ Casa Ybel also. We were not aware that Casa Ybel was a RCI resort until we checked in.

Review 99:Casa Ybel is a very nice resort with a great location. The pool area was beautiful and it accommodated those who require shade. Thistle Lodge served great food and the restaurant staff was awesome. We liked the resort very much and would definitely return. The screened porches were a nice feature.

Review 100:It was a perfect stay - we liked everything

Review 101:The service staff were terrific. The rental price for beach chairs and umbrella were fair. We enjoyed renting bicycles onsite for 24 hours to explore all the wonderful sights available within biking distance. The beach was lovely. We enjoyed listening to the surf from our room. The pool and lunch/happy hour choices were pleasant. Dinner at the Thistle Inn was very good.

Review 102:the bar - cheap spirits and watered down cocktails. Happy hour cocktail especially watered down. Didn't appreciate waiters whispering between themselves about adding more ice. Felt like a rip off and not at all what I would expect from an expensive resort that charges $10 a drink Loungers for the beach - you need to get in quick and book one for the week even if you only use it for an hour a day. We had to wait 5 days to get a lounger - again another very disappointing feature of a resort that costs in excess of $500 a night

Review 103:the actual property was very well maintained and looked stunning. Couldn't find another property to match how pretty it looked The kids club was excellent - my kids have been in a few around the world and this was by far their favourite - the staff were brilliant - especially Erin who also worked front desk I believe. The appartment was very well stocked with everything needed to allow a family to do as much or as little cooking as needed.

Review 104:Additional bedding for rest of family was unacceptable for price charged. Restaurant food was not to standard of gourmet positioning and at each course options were unavailable. Inadequate numbers of beach furniture so for our short stay we were unable to secure beach furniture to enjoy the sea, despite making our request as soon as we arrived.

Review 105:Large bed in large bedroom, fantastically comfortable. Location with sea view and balcony. Private beach. Excellent tennis courts. Well equipped kitchen. Good room service.

Review 106:the stairs! 2 story and had to carry luggage up 4 flights of stairs - also no bathroom on main level of condo sugar ants in sink- parking limited. would like to have staples on property like milk, cereal & bread.

Review 107:Very Close to Golf & beach Just a few steps from your room to pool and beach. Shopping nearby - Good food right on property.

Review 108:EVERYTHING

Review 109:price = like Ritz Carlton + the charge for beach chairs should be eliminated

Review 110:location, beach, lay-out of rooms, having kitchen + screened in porch

Review 111:It was disappointing to have to rent beach chairs, seemed pretty ridiculous

Review 112:It was clean and the grounds are beautiful

Review 113:nothing not to like

Review 114:the room, the pool, proximity to sea

Review 115:Kitchen appliances need updated. A little rusty

Review 116:Location, location,location

Review 117:The laundry facilities need to be updated.

Review 118:The food and people were great!

Review 119:Requested a king bed but only received a queen.

Review 120:Staff was great!

Review 121:Room wasn't as top notch as I expected...more like a 3.5 star

Review 122:Grounds are beautiful...view from room was great...

Review 123:Price, very noisy A/C, beach furniture should be free. Interior design needs an update

Review 124:Location, setting, quietness, friendly staff.

Review 125:the air conditioner was loud in the bedroom.

Review 126:We liked everything.

Review 127:EVERYTHING!!! Amazing location, beachfront, clean, lonely beaches...Rent a bike and grab an ice cream at Captiva Island...

Review 128:Gorgeous location - beautifully kept resort right on the beach - heaven!

Review 129:Quiet, Nice Facilities.

Review 130:No breakfast on site

Review 131:Location & facilities
