Reviews for Merrill Farm Inn

Review 1:The only bad thing, was that there was 1 ply toilet paper

Review 2:The hottub was perfect after a day of hiking! The staff were tremendous! The beds were super comfortable

Review 3:Could use some updating of carpeting, trim, etc.

Review 4:Comfortable beds. Staff was very nice. Inn is cozy. Love the tea room and always ready tea and coffee.

Review 5:No complaints.

Review 6:Young girl at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. LOVED the private hot tub set up in a room with plenty of windows for a view of the river/forest. The coffee was EXCELLENT The jacuzzi tub in the room was a nice treat.

Review 7:There were working fireplaces that would have made the place charming, but it seemed too much bother to light them (Christmas week). Booking said that breakfast was included. This turned out to be only coffee or juice and a muffin - less than a typical Continental breakfast and definately not a full breakfast, no cereal or cocoa for the kids. When we ordered full breakfasts for addional cost, it took over half an hour to come even though there were very few other parties. Very bare-bones.

Review 8:Staff was friendly. Room was very clean, if somewhat worn. Carpets were stained.

Review 9:Breakfast restaurant needs better staffing. One person was taking orders and two people were clearing tables. But breakfast was great once we got it.

Review 10:Great all the way around.

Review 11:The bathroom was a little dirty when we got there. Breakfast was good but the breakfast potatoes were a little hard and they didn't have enough bacon.

Review 12:I liked cookie time and the upgraded breakfast.

Review 13:Cabin smelled a little musty, breakfast room was cold and it would have been nice to have a microwave available as water for oatmeal wasn't hot enough.

Review 14:Privacy in cabins.

Review 15:Room was hot for November but we opened the windows. Breakfast a bit on light side.

Review 16:Quiet n comfortable .very clean. Old furniture n decor very pleasing .

Review 17:The cabins are nice but the beds cause use a little updating. The beds are kinda uncomfortable and the pull out couch needs help.

Review 18:It is a very pretty spot on the river. The property is in a good location. The staff was great. The grounds where will kept

Review 19:Was advertised as a B & B. I dont consider 'continental' breakfast as traditional for a B and B. I would.come back but would recommend to all if they used there big kitchen facility and served up some eggs and pancakes.

Review 20:Rustic feel, perfect for Holloween season. Nice view out rhe back of the property.

Review 21:The WiFi was shaky which made it a little difficult to get the work done that we needed to...luckily we have aircards which we ended up using.

Review 22:Loved the room! Cozy & clean. The sitting area gave us enough room to do computer work (sometimes we can't completely disconnect from work & school :( )

Review 23:Breakfast is just mufftins and cereal... bed sagged in the middle...and I forgot my favorite hiking slacks in the room ....when I called the next day they had disappeared. I was very disappointed!

Review 24:We had a loft room, so it was very roomy.

Review 25:The property is attractive and quiet; only drawback for us was having to drive two or three miles to find somewhere to eat in the evening.

Review 26:Our cabin was very small, but bright and cosy; attractive scenery; substantial varied continental breakfast.

Review 27:The location was beautiful, and very quiet. The cabin they gave us was very quaint and clean. Breakfast was abundant and was served in a lovely old style barn.

Review 28:Breakfast could use help. We needed hot water for the instant oatmeal and were give a cup of hot tap water.

Review 29:The staff were friendly and helpful. We needed help with directions and finding a place for dinner and the desk people were very responsive. The rooms and over all facility was clean and well kept.

Review 30:One of the staff members at the front desk was acting like we put her out of her way when we tried to check in when our room wasn't ready yet.

Review 31:Cookie time, comfortable bed and room was clean and nice.

Review 32:As a diabetic the CARB breakfast wasn't appealing. No protein, only non baked carb was instant oatmeal our 1st day. 2nd day we went out for breakfast.

Review 33:Location was great, Staff was courteous & helpful. Cabin was clean & comfortable.

Review 34:Not really a resort. Saw no access to the river, nor even a river view. Room was in the basement and had "lead foots" above us.

Review 35:Nice place, away from the crowded areas.

Review 36:The breakfast wasn't that great. The homemade muffins were fantastic. But I think they should add yogurt, granola, hard boiled eggs and different cereals. Also, 2 serving stations would eliminate the long wait for food.

Review 37:Comfortable and clean. Great location. Good value.

Review 38:+ Great location to explore White Mountains from + Lots of shops, restaurants etc located near in the North Conway + Good breakfast + Comfortable room and bed + Big parking lot

Review 39:Continental breakfast very limited although good. Price somewhat high even in off-season.

Review 40:Cabin overlooking Saco River. Private and quiet. Afternoon coffee/tea and cookies in the afternoon was very relaxing with comfortable seating.

Review 41:The hairdryer was secured to the wall with Command Tape and it came " unstuck " on the wall at around 3 am and fell onto the sink and woke us up. The breakfast was " eh " The coffee ran out quickly and would have liked a little more variety considering the place was full

Review 42:The people at the desk were very nice and friendly. The room was comfy cozy. We had 2 double beds, one for myself and one for my teenager. The shower was great ! The muffins were yummy .

Review 43:Room was a little outdated... Loved the jetted tub but should warn travelers that it was a bit awkward to get in and out of due to high nature of tub and glass doors. No half and half for coffee.

Review 44:Loved the jetted tub but should warn travelers that it was a bit awkward to get in and out of due to high nature of tub and glass doors. Continental breakfast muffins were homemade and freshly baked. Staff was delightful and location just perfect.

Review 45:They recently had a pipe burst on upper floor and the room smelled like mold and mildew. We used an entire bottle of fabreeze to cover it and wasn't even offered reimbursement for it or even the inconvenience.

Review 46:Was offered an upgrade for a mold and mildew issue.. Then taken away and offered an downgraded room and no compensation for the downgrade. Instead of apologizing, was told "but we offered you something, you didn't take it.. So it's your fault."

Review 47:The cabin was very small. The pull out sofa bed was torn and dirty. There were spider webs with spiders and cobwebs on the ceiling. To call what they Serve for breakfast continental is a stretch.

Review 48:I liked the location and proximity to the Saco river. The general layout of the property. It was nice to sit on the back porch and look at the river.

Review 49:Complained about room and was told well your in a less expensive room by desk clerk then was told cannot upgrade we are full. General manager said we were offered upgrade and we were not reimbursed for second night.

Review 50:Our room was in the inn itself. Very noisy with cars and motorcycles going by. Room cheaply put together. Did not stay for second night. Staff unfriendly. If you have a sweet tooth you would enjoy breakfast. Asked to be reimbursed for the second night and was declined.

Review 51:Two couples in loft appartment -- upstairs bedroom provided adequate, but not complete privacy (and sink); alot better than two queen beds in a hotel room, and alot cheaper than two hotel rooms. Very comfortable beds. Nice breakfast area and pretty good food.

Review 52:The sink didn't drain properly The bed wasn't super comfortable We were next to breakfast room so we heard a bit of noise and shrieky kids.

Review 53:The jacuzzi tub The cookies

Review 54:I wish the breakfast had more hot food...

Review 55:The staff was very helpfull. very comfortable there. Had a nice fire the night before leaving. didnt bother us at all. veey mello. Private time hott tub awsome..

Review 56:It was only a continental breakfast with muffins and cereal but said it was a homemade breakfast so expected more

Review 57:The kids enjoyed cookie time, and I loved having coffee ready when I got up

Review 58:Our room was not ready when we arrived at 3:30 and wasn't ready until 4:30 which was inconvienent since we had arranged for a 3:00 check-in. We did have to use the pull out sofa bed which had a lousy mattress but thankfully our 5 year old didn't notice.

Review 59:We only stayed for one night. The only amenity we took advantage of was the pool which was wonderful on a hot day.

Review 60:The brick walkway and granite steps - while very pretty are difficult to maneuver with suitcases. I understand the need to conserve, but didn't care for the watersaver shower head.

Review 61:We stayed in the inn portion of the complex. It was cozy and relaxing.

Review 62:The biggest problem was the air conditioner in our room was broken and they only offered us a percentage off our next stay instead of a free night. It was extremely loud all night long.

Review 63:Loved being right on the water and the location in general was great

Review 64:Single beds way too small. Toasters in front of breakfast food made everyone queue for breakfast, including those not eating toast. Toasters should be away from other breakfast food.

Review 65:Location Pool Play area

Review 66:Small details that we noticed, flowers on the grounds needed attention. The pool looked like it needed some cleaning. Signage would have been helpful to find the breakfast room. We were in the last cottage and there was a lot of debris right next to the cottage. Unsightly would describe it best.

Review 67:We stayed in cottage #16 . The cottage was clean and comfortable.

Review 68:Traffic.. There was heavy construction right outside of the hotel and there was very limited parking during the day due to construction vehicles taking up many of the available spots. On the plus side we could not hear the construction at all from our room

Review 69:The location was great, just south of north Conway on nh16.

Review 70:can't even think of one thing we didn't like!

Review 71:intamicy and location of cabins warm mini muffins and GOOD coffee in the morning great shower pressure

Review 72:No bad experience, but it would have been nice to know that there was an area to play pool, etc. I think there was more available to do then we were aware of. Staff was very busy, but helpful.

Review 73:We liked the cute little cabin! The staff was friendly and helpful! I think that it was reasonably priced! Pretty area!

Review 74:The rooms are outdated as most of the other reviews said.

Review 75:The grounds are great as is the location. I am very glad we stayed there as we plan on going back again. It is a great location close to everything in North Conway. The homemade muffins and breakfast we great too!

Review 76:the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Our mini fridge made a loud buzzing noise, and the air conditioner was broken. Also dead bugs and general uncleanliness of the porch area.

Review 77:location.

Review 78:The rooms are not sound proof so you can hear your neighbors and other vacationers walking through the halls

Review 79:Friendly staff, fresh baked muffins for a Continental breakfast, great value for the money.

Review 80:Staying in shaded cottage off the road and on the river was very pleasant; I imagine rooms nearer rt 16 might be noisy. Convenient to Kankamagus; can avoid N Conway if you want!

Review 81:We are returning guests. One of the features we loved at our first visit were the homemade muffins they made for breakfast. Was disappointed that they were store bought muffins this time.

Review 82:Location and loft room design.

Review 83:Meagre food and beverage offerings; we stayed in a loft and found it somewhat cramped.

Review 84:All of the following are good: kid-friendly grounds; clean and quiet; proximity to the river.

Review 85:we got a room with a total height of 2 meters which is stifling for taller people

Review 86:very nice stop if you want to travel through white mountains; kind and helpful staff

Review 87:Breakfast is complimentary but basically only sweet stuff. But there is coffee and some fruit.

Review 88:One of the best hotelbeds I've encountered so far: wonderful matress. Nice pool. International atmosphere (Canadian Harley Davidson fans, but also tourists from Europe and Asia). Good size room with mezzanine with extra queen bed AND own full size TV.

Review 89:Well maintained. Quaint with quality. Rooms are well designed and clean. Nice family amenities with the cookies in the afternoon and free breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff even offered to get us more coffee. We will be back.

Review 90:only small ac in bedroom of cabin leaving the rest of the cabin unbearably hot cabin was not clean ants all over kitchen and when u used any water including toilet the shower drain would make crazy sounds we were booked for 2 nights but we checked out after first night took a Loss in Money but we could not stand another moment there

Review 91:Woman at the front desk was kind

Review 92:Bed was so comfortable that I actually stripped it looking for the brand and model of the mattress. Grounds were beautiful. would have preferred hotel room (which I reserved) instead of the room inside the inn which I is what I got. Group was too spread out throughout property.

Review 93:Not a bad experience, but a little bit more variations in breakfast choices would not hurt - lots of people were asking if they serve eggs.

Review 94:Great bedding, cozy rooms, clean bathrooms, very well kept property. Management and staff are helpful, very friendly. Place has grown over the cause of several years, and new additions - fire pits, a fence around the pull for example, a plus.

Review 95:Our shower liner was a cheap one and was ripped so they tied it on. Could have gone to the dollar store and bought a new one for a dollar. I thought that was terrible

Review 96:The whole place was very nice

Review 97:If I wanted a cold continental breakfast, I would choose a hotel, not a bed and breakfast. There weren't even any boiled eggs to add protein to the meal!

Review 98:Room was great. It was large with a large bathroom, and the bed was comfortable.

Review 99:Nothing bad. The room was a good size, but it was nothing fancy.

Review 100:The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The homemade muffins and ice cold fresh milk were a nice treat, but the protein options for breakfast were limited.

Review 101:Really thought breakfast should have started earlier than 7:30 am.At least they should have coffee available

Review 102:On site plenty to do.Location was excellent. Room very clean and beds were comfortable.Home made muffins at breakfast were yummy.I was so happy with property I recommended it to my son.

Review 103:Besides the maintenance guys(whom were very friendly) the rest of the staff that we meet were not very welcoming our friendly. We came all the way from Maryland to stay here, and will probably not be coming back to this Inn

Review 104:It was just far enough from the center of town to be able to get away from all of the hustle and bustle.

Review 105:Bed too soft for me and my wife but may be that's just us as we like to sleep on a firm mattress. Breakfast options were limited. The cabin door locks are terrible. You really have to pull hard at the latch in order to lock them.

Review 106:Friendly staff. Cottage facing the river. Nice views.

Review 107:Very cold in dining room and sitting areas--having only (1) gas fireplace for heat in our room was most unsatisfactory for "winter season". floors, walls bathroom very chilly. No attention given to dietary needs. (Gluten free)

Review 108:Close proximity to North Conway, comfortable beds & excellent TV

Review 109:We first visited Merrill Farm around 14 years ago and sadly the fixtures and fittings have not been replaced in that time and do look very tired and dated. We were however told by the maintenance guy that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment with new TV's, beds and bedding already to be installed.

Review 110:Merrill Farm is a traditional New England Inn. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a very spacious loft room with two double beds upstairs and a further Queen bed downstairs and TWO bathrooms, it suited us perfectly. Breakfast is continental style, there was no in room coffee maker but drinks were available in the breakfast room throughout the day. The room and breakfast provided excellent value for money.

Review 111:Call ahead to have the heat turned on in your room. Wisely the temp was set to 55 to conserve energy but it took a while for our room to come up to a comfortable tremp.

Review 112:My husband was impressed with the carport for unloading and the updated safety equipment (fire detection and co2 detectors. We loved the gas fired stove in the room. The furnishings and decorations throughout the property were wonderful. Our kids got a kick out of the phone booth. Plenty of rooms to stretch out and relax ( game room and parlor). Scenic view it the Saco river and mountains beyond from our window. The homemade muffins were yummy and a nice treat before we headed out for the day.

Review 113:Drippy faucet in loft brown area Unable to use canoes on beautiful fall day.... seemed to have put them away too early in the season

Review 114:Historic property Spacious room (loft) Super strong, hot shower Quiet sitting areas & game room Great breakfast Vintage feel Located on main strip

Review 115:Decor and style is dated, but clean and comfortable.

Review 116:At checkin we were moved from room initially allocated to a quiet room away from the road at staff suggestion.

Review 117:The room had a very bad smell. The bed was awful it was not a comfortable stay! There was coffee at the breakfast area that night, but there was no cream on the display. We asked one of the OLd lady that was working there for couple of creams and she seemed mad about it! THEY SHOULD PUT A SIGN "Black coffee ONLY". Lousy breakfast!!!!! When we were at the front desk ready for check out, there was a guy asking some question to the same old lady, she didn't seem that she wanted to talk to him. Finally the guy gave up, and she just rolled her eyes on him. I would never ever going back there. Very bad service!!!! Will not recommend. Very bad attitude! Awful customer service !!!!!

Review 118:NOTHING!!!!!

Review 119:The room was large and the bathroom nice but it smelled a bit of 'nappies' and the carpet was a bit stained. But that really is being a bit picky.

Review 120:The owner was very friendly and we loved the complimentary home made cookies and coffee served in the afternoon. The breakfast as very nice. Plenty of literature to read and recommendations made for food.

Review 121:Unfriendly staff with attitude problem, unpolite and you were made to feel as if you were in the way. Tip jar for self service breakfast and tip envelope in bedroom - unnecessary.

Review 122:The room we had was good, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was just ok, self service buffet, toast muffins etc. and a tip jar on the side! There was even a tip envelope in the bedroom - for what? Giving you a clean room?

Review 123:TVs are a bit old and mostly only VHS tapes available to borrow from lobby area(however it was nostalgic to watch Home Alone on VHS). The website claims that there are games for borrowing but the lady at the desk warned us that there were not many and they were probably missing lots of pieces. She was right- couldn't find a game we could play due to missing pieces.

Review 124:Loft room had plenty of room for all of the guests, there was a refrigerator in the room as well as good control over the heating/cooling. The breakfast was good- offering homemade muffins, homemade maple butter, english muffins and toast. Only a short drive to lots of North Conway attractions.

Review 125:Had taken out the a/c prior to arrival and first two days were in the 80's. They did replace it within 24 hrs. Bathroom was tight for space.

Review 126:Staff were accommodating, rooms clean, and room was large with plenty of space between furniture/bedding.

Review 127:Remote rooms do no have WiFi (this is not advertised - so you have no way of knowing this in advance), and their hot water isn't that hot

Review 128:Rooms in the main building were more comfortable, had WiFi and felt warmer.

Review 129:Locked amenities, room needs a bit of updating, room description said it had a balcony and it didn't.

Review 130:Location was nice, the continental breakfast was very good. It was hard to use the amenities that were listed because they were always locked. This was one of the reasons we chose this location over cheaper ones so that was a bit disappointing. We did like the loft room though, traveling with two small children. They slept fantastic!

Review 131:The beds were sandy as if someone sat on they and weren't changed and when asked they said they only changed the sheets every 3 days- it made us wonder what 3 days they were? It took us until 9 pm to get clean sheets.

Review 132:The place was rather worn. Everything was clean but the place needed a facelift.

Review 133:The muffins at breakfast were excellent and the puzzle room and putting green were big hits with my son.

Review 134:The mattress was awful. Both my wife and I woke up the two mornings we were there with backaches. Although the muffins were very tasty the rest of the continental breakfast was ordinary.

Review 135:The inn was charming sort of country rustic. The homemade muffins were delicious. The room was spacious and nicely decorated.

Review 136:room smelled musty until window was opened; room light could be improved; indifferent service from some staff

Review 137:nice view, good size room, good breakfast & good value

Review 138:i went with my wife and two kids. booked my room through booking.com. the room they provided was so small that even two person can hardly sleep. they provided small mattress for my kids. bed sheets were having bad smell. worst night. i requested and next night, they provided me a nice spacious room.

Review 139:they provided very good breakfast. very tasty muffins and coffede

Review 140:The room had no hot water. Cobwebs and spiders. It smelled like mold and had old cheerios on floor. Also had chipping paint in lots of places. Run down motel.

Review 141:The location was ok. Breakfast was good.

Review 142:Room had a musky smell when you first walk in, but I wasn't noticed after 5 min of being in the room. Price was ok, but will most likely look into another place in the future to compare.

Review 143:Inn had a pool, continental breakfast and cookie time. Location was nice to the outlets, restaurants and about 12-15min from Storyland (not too bad).
