Reviews for Fort Harrison State Park Inn

Review 1:Didn't make beds two nights in a row even though I put their hotel sign up for them to do so.

Review 2:Great hotel for the price. Can't beat how much room you get for the money. Also, no added charge for parking unlike downtown Indy. Free admission to park and $10 for family to go to the local YMCA.

Review 3:Quiet and comfortable. We left a do not disturb sign on the door and the housekeeping left us a bag of fresh towels outside our door which we really appreciated! Decor in the lobby was cozy and festive! Lady at front desk was very kind as well!

Review 4:The bedrooms are angled in odd shapes with living room type area in other part of room. Someone else's Bedroom happened to be situated near my bed and could hear them having sex all night, walls seem pretty paper thin.

Review 5:Great Inn style comfort and cozy stay

Review 6:More than expected our room included a spa as well as two queen size beds. Very reasonably priced. We hope to return in the spring and try the hiking trails.

Review 7:This facility is a converted historic building and it is no doubt solid construction. It is located in a pleasantly quiet area of the city, and far enough from the expressway that the noise is well dampened. I've stayed here a number of times an always achieve a good night of rest and refreshment.

Review 8:Generally the interior decor is very bland and lacking in visual interest. Certain aspects of cleanliness could have been a tighter; ie.tissues around perimeter of bed hidden by bed skirt. Also, staff needs to remember to clean the in-room coffee pot.

Review 9:A quiet, attractive historic building on a woodsy state park property.

Review 10:Loved this hotel. Was quiet, clean, well maintained. The only thing missing or that could be improved upon would be the availability of a refrigerator in the room.

Review 11:Nothing at all!

Review 12:Incredible place! The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is classy, clean, and very comfy! The park is great as well! I can't wait to go back!

Review 13:no restaurant or bar. the rate charged by booking .com was high when i compared it later to other sites.

Review 14:location-lots of beautiful trails for bike riding in this state park

Review 15:Great location, walking distance on quiet street to local restaurants. Hotel was quiet, did not hear doors banging as other guests moved about. Had all the luxuries of a more expensive hotel.

Review 16:The carpet in lobby area a little outdated and that the ice machine was only in the basement.

Review 17:We loved the rate and rooms. Also the park itself felt secluded.

Review 18:I didn't see it, but there should be a list of local restaurants, the chain restaurants were obvious. I wasn't expecting breakfast and there wasn't although they seemed to have a restaurant.

Review 19:It was a charmibng old hotel with new and nicely don touches. Very friendly helpful staff. More people should try this place, it wasn' that far from a major highway.

Review 20:Not a big deal but the exercise room had a bag of trash (or dirty towels) on the floor during the three days I was there. Clearly, no one checked that room.

Review 21:The staff is always approachable and welcoming. My room was wonderful. The shower system in the bathroom was over the top. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by having a room with a sun room. My brother (who stayed at a different hotel) was also impressed with the accommodations. I was also very happy that my bed was made everyday. Wonderful job!

Review 22:Curtain in room was coming down and let in light from outside No food options required us leaving the premises after a long day Wi-fi connected for only seconds at a time Not sure why it was listed as Indianapolis when it was 18 miles away A group of guests from a wedding held inside were smoking on the steps

Review 23:Beautiful setting, interesting history Oddly shaped but nice room

Review 24:We had continental breakfast. Normally this is not offered. I cold continental would be good.. We were there for the Final Four.

Review 25:I liked the access to the State Park only 7 dollar charge for non residents. Hiking and fishing available. The Garrison Restaurant has a good buffet for lunch and dinner.

Review 26:The room was next to the elevator. It was small for a double queen bed. With such beautiful grounds, one expected a nice view from the room, instead there was a tiny window in an alcove giving a glimpse of the beauty outside. There was mo glassware, no teabags, coffee was of poor quality. Very disappointed.

Review 27:The grounds are beautiful!

Review 28:On site full service restaurant would be helpful, but there are nearby options.

Review 29:Very elegant, classy vintage decor w/modern updates. Huge bathroom w/walk-in shower. Staff extremely friendly & helpful. Excellent choice for us on a college audition visit.

Review 30:I asked for my toilet to be fixed as the water kept running. That never happened. In addition, in three days I never received any fresh towels.

Review 31:This is a nice facility. I really enjoyed seeing the deer walking the property.

Review 32:My only complaint is that there isn't an in-house breakfast area to get some coffee in the morning. I'm not a fan of the coffee provided for those little coffee makers in the rooms. I like to get up and have a decent cup of coffee while the wife is getting ready. No such luck here. Small complaint, I know. Fortunately there is a Panera Bread and an IHOP right down the road.

Review 33:Really enjoyed this hotel. Not your run-of-the-mill Motel 6 for sure. Has a good feel. Old yet classy and clean. Great neighborhoods to take a long walk in and very close to Fort Harrison State Park for more outdoor activities. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 34:Was going downtown Indianapolis -- a bit far from there.

Review 35:Very nice place with attractive rooms and bathrooms. Everything was clean and the location was quiet.

Review 36:A little far removed from the downtown area to easily buzz back and forth without planning around peak traffic times. Get your business done downtown before you come to the hotel.

Review 37:Loved the architecture, history and building design, décor and spaciousness of the room, all for a great price

Review 38:The inn staff was very helpful and accommodating. My room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The grounds are lovely, with a park like setting, felt relaxing, away from everything.

Review 39:We stayed for 2 nights and were not happy that they didn't make up the room for the 2nd day. They replaced the used towels but that was it!

Review 40:The inn had an old-style charm and character. The room was spacious and included a sitting room.

Review 41:It would be nice to have a coffee shop and small bar in the inn itsef.

Review 42:Very unique experience to stay at a state park in an urban area, best of both worlds.

Review 43:Towels were rather thin.

Review 44:Cost for what you got was unbelievable. We had a corner room on the 3rd floor. Huge bathroom with a shower that in addition to the usual shower head, had three separate ones off to the side. The room also had a separate sitting room with an additional TV.

Review 45:The bed was a little uncomfortable, however I am sure much of that has to do with mattress differences.

Review 46:Very helpful staff Room 222 balcony is amazing Veteran / servicemember discounts Away from a lot of traffic

Review 47:No refrigerator or microwave in our room but there is a microwave in the lobby. Nice outside but no benches or places to sit.

Review 48:Nice place. A classic interesting building. Very clean and great service. It also has a nice area outside with a gazebo.

Review 49:Staff was great. Room was wonderful. views were great. The park is great. I wish the staff would have recommended places to eat but i found the golf course restaurant and enjoyed an excellent Sunday brunch.

Review 50:Housekeeping issues which was no mattress pad. The thin sheet showed the stain on the mattress. Did not know this until I went to bed and was shocked. Housekeeping did add a mattress pad the next day. A large stain on a chair seat. Large stains on the carpet.

Review 51:Loved the location which was peaceful, quiet, and next door to the State Park for good hiking and wildflower photo opportunities. The shower was huge, the soap provided was a real treat, the enclosed porch setting was fantastic. Maintenance fixed a leaky faucet quickly.

Review 52:I just wanted time to myself and peace and quiet. Kids were running up and down the halls and I could hear everything through the door. Also, early in the morning were workers running their electric tools and a lot of noise. I called the front desk, but even though they reverted the workers to another area, they could still be heard and the front desk person was not very nice to me.

Review 53:I liked the way the room was laid out, with a sitting room and tv separated from the bedroom. The wood scenery was great.

Review 54:We could have stayed anywhere, but I liked the historic element.

Review 55:We stayed in room 206, there was mold growing on the inside of the shower curtain along the bottom.

Review 56:Friendly staff, hot drinks available at all times

Review 57:staff very helpful with area attractions

Review 58:Bedding could be better

Review 67:Room was big, clean and comfortable.

Review 68:No fridge or microwave

Review 69:The heat lamp in the bathroom.

Review 70:A couple of chairs out on the balcony would be nice

Review 71:Wonderful room

Review 72:Some spots on the carpeting in the room...

Review 73:Antique furnishings; the serenity of this hotel.

Review 74:The only problem we had was with the room's door. It didn't close properly.

Review 75:Very roomy and a good finale for our 4 day trip.

Review 76:The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. They made our stay very enjoyable.

Review 77:It was a cute room-more like a b and b than a hotel.

Review 78:The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Everything about the room and bathroom was classy! Will definitely stay again!

Review 79:Loved the character of the room & interior of the whole building. Enjoyed our time - had a nice family walk around the area.

Review 80:Location at state park

Review 81:Quiet, Price

Review 82:A hot breakfast would make this place ideal.

Review 83:Clean, comfortable, friendly staff.

Review 84:Most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. very large comfortable room. Small store at desk to buy snacks.

Review 85:Staff quite nice and helpful. Easy access to downtown/Capitol area. Great to have park hiking trails within a few minutes. Would return.

Review 86:suite

Review 87:Very clean and quiet establishment. Rooms are large as are the bathrooms.

Review 88:Character

Review 89:A converted base hospital with beautiful decor. Modern accommodations within a historic setting. Well worth a look.

Review 90:that i couldn't stay longer

Review 91:bathroom was amazing loads of character value location did I mention the bathroom?

Review 92:Finding frost on my car windows... Not Lodge's fault though.

Review 93:Restored antique furnishings in each room.

Review 94:Nothing

Review 95:Step back in time with the historic hotel for the same or less than any of the freeway chains. Rooms are huge,

Review 96:It feels like home and the rooms are large. Sheets are super soft

Review 97:Would have liked an in room fridge. Minor complaint

Review 98:Quiet location huge room friendly staff great bargain.

Review 99:Nothing.

Review 100:Everything.

Review 101:sparce furnishings in our bedroom, midweek stay had no dining options, light bulbs in bath were not all working

Review 102:historical setting, large king bedroom

Review 103:Exceeded my expectations

Review 104:Location Hotel Staff

Review 105:The lobby needs lots of work to make it appear more upscale and on a par with the rooms and facility.

Review 106:I loved my room and bathroom.

Review 107:No restaurant.

Review 108:Charming, spacious, friendly

Review 109:I didn't care for the view from my room.

Review 110:I liked the layout of the room I was in, and all the landscape around it. Everything was beautiful.

Review 111:A little but of stains on the floor.

Review 112:Very friendly staff and comfortable place to stay.

Review 113:Bathroom was spacious but lacked towel bar close to sink and shower head sprayed out of door. No light. or table on rt. side of bed. Did not make bed or vacuum floors the week we were there. Would have been nice to have some pictures on walls. The had to take us to 4 rooms before finding one that had window blinds.

Review 114:Beautiful setting with good location

Review 115:A real gem of a place to stay. I am glad I discovered it before my trip to Indiana for the Indy 500. It was quiet and picturesque. A far better destination that the cookie cutter motel choices!

Review 116:There was an accumulation of dust and dirt around the HVAC return that could have easily been cleaned with a vacuum hose.

Review 117:The room and extra porch area was just wonderful. The easy walk through the park was enjoyable.

Review 118:Always hospitable, courteous, and knowledgeable staff. The rooms are large, clean, and very comfortable. The location is near a state park: excellent for getting away, but near enough to get back into life if needed.

Review 119:The location was great and full of nostalgia. I grew up in that area of Indy when a lot of Fort Harrison was restricted access. It was a very tranquil location and the grounds were very green. The staff was very polite and approachable. I'm glad I picked this location.

Review 120:They do not offer any type of breakfast, no morsel to be found. However, Panera is only a 3 minute drive and they open at 6:00am which was perfect.

Review 121:Liked many things about the inn....the winding staircase, sprawling window seats, modern bathrooms, and quaintness.
