Reviews for Anchor In Distinctive Waterfront Lodging

Review 1:Everything was SUPERB! No negatives!

Review 2:The services from Francis and Marissa were OUTSTANDING!! They treated us like family. All the staff members were responsive and helpful.

Review 3:Nothing to complain.

Review 4:The room was big, clean, comfy, with quite average furnishings but open to the garden overlooking the port, so you can sit there and relax. The structure features a very nice and cozy commonal living room, with a view on the boats, where you can have breakfast and enjoy the sunlight, the fireplace, the library, chatting with the other guests and planning your day.

Review 5:Nothing.

Review 6:I couldn't possibly exaggerate our delight with every detail of our stay! Sandy was warm, wonderful, informative & genuine. Our bed was SO big & so comfortable, the sheets & blankets softer than expected. My favorite was the raised, slanted ceilings. It was a reminder that we were in a warm family owned building & not a chain hotel with sqare rooms and no charm or individuality. The Anchor Inn represents Cape Cod perfectly. With 100% certainty we will come again. And soon! Kate & Matt

Review 7:I've had the pleasure of staying at some 5 start fancy hotels...and motels. Singularly the Anchor Inn was the most comfortable extremely well decorated pleasurable experience ever!

Review 8:The staff was very helpful! The view from our room which was the Hyannis room was extraordinary! My girlfriend and myself took a girls weekend to relax with no husbands or children before the chaos of the holidays. We couldn't have chosen a better place!

Review 9:The people are so friendly, the bed was so comfortable, the view was beautiful, the room was very clean and decorated nicely. The breakfast had a lot of choices. We booked it again for next year!!

Review 10:I love the location and the breakfast buffet is excellent. It would be a great idea sometime to put in a small bar overlooking the water so people in the winter can come in had have a nice drink of wine after dinner, your location is perfect for this.

Review 11:Beautifipul location on the water, balconies to sit and watch sunsets, lovely library with coffee and tea available, great breakfast included, beautiful room and luxurious bed.

Review 12:Loved the room with the balcony view over the pool and the harbour. The fire pit was a great place to congregate. Excellent continental breakfast with superb selection of bagels. Staff were very helpful and lent us glasses to enjoy a bottle of wine.

Review 13:Morning staff not so friendly...had to wait for her to finish social conversation before checking out.

Review 14:staff was so friendly when we checked in, not so much the next morning. Very clean and comfy.

Review 15:Unfortunately due to time of year, most restaurants near the hotel were closed and we had to pick and choose to find ones that were open

Review 16:Great location and car park - central for all sightseeing - relaxed atmosphere, allowing you to take your own wine, etc. to the hotel and spend time conversing with other guests over the fire pit in the evenings

Review 17:Great location for sightseeing. Comfortable room overlooking the sea. Good breakfast with friendly helpful staff. Good restaurants within walking distance.

Review 18:Excellent hotel. Staff were super friendly. The facilities were brilliant. We got to chat to other travellers are the fire pit and in the lounge. Breakfast was great. They even provided wine glasses and a cork screw for the bottle of wine we had brought with us.

Review 19:Using the water makes a lot of noise. When the neighbours take a late shower it will definitely wake you up.

Review 20:The hotel is feels very homely. The fire pit is a special feature which has to be experienced. Most enjoyable afternoon tea and biscuits in the library. In the morning a fantastic breakfast on the covered porch.

Review 21:water quite chlorinated consider providing bottles? Perhaps more guides to local restaurants (which ones are open and how near) as my husband had a bad leg and couldn't walk far. provide glasses in the rooms?

Review 22:It was perfect, lovely lighthouse view, fire pit, balcony and its light wood floor and white chairs, comfy beds, great linen. I chose your inn after quite a bit of web research, but it well exceeded expectations. It was hard to see the lovely views from the website as it looked like there was lots of stuff in the way.

Review 23:no bar or food area - only breakfast which was excellent but you can bring in your own drinks etc

Review 24:stunning views to the port from balconies fire pit looking onto ocean

Review 25:Nothing. Didn't want to leave

Review 26:Great location right on waterfront yet within easy walk of shops,,cafes, restaurants & right next door to ferries to the islands. Room was great with balcony overlooking water. Staff were very helpful

Review 27:No place to put toiletries in the bathroom or to hang the many various towels used. Need more trash cans. The two there are in inconvenient places.

Review 28:Staff thoughtful, helpful, and efficient. Quality and cleanliness of room. Awesome breakfast buffet.

Review 29:The Anchor Inn was very disappointing. The location is very beautiful and loved everything else about the trip to Hyannis but the room rate was extortionate given the standard of the room and the accommodation in general. The decor was tired and in need of TLC and the room had an unpleasant moldy smell. I also found the staff very unfriendly. I have a milk intolerance and asked if I could have soya milk for breakfast and the answe was now. For a 300 dollar a night room I would have expected that they could cater for that. I asked for some lemon for my tea at breakfast and got the same answer. All in all, we were really dissatisfied with the Anchor Inn. I would definitely go back to Hyannis but would not stay there.

Review 30:We couldn't find anywhere to sit at breakfast on our first morning but waited 15 minutes in our room and a table became free.A minor point.

Review 31:Coffee available all day!!! Very comfortable hotel

Review 32:Nice balconies with harbour view. Excellent breakfast and charming indoor porch where you can enjoy good coffee and freshly baked cookies. Can only recommend this hotel !

Review 33:Parking is an issue. We had to move the car the morning of our departure.

Review 34:Great rom with harbour view and a large balcony area. Well equipped room and very spacious. Staff were excellent at sorting any requests we made.

Review 35:Not keen on bathroom - was a bit dated although like elsewhere in the hotel, everything was very clean.

Review 36:Location was excellent - really close to Harbour. Ideal if you are heading to Nantucket and/or Martha's Vineyard on the ferry. Also quite close to Main Street although I would stick to the busier roads to reach Main Street as streets are not well lit. Staff were welcoming and there was a very good selection of food and drinks available at breakfast. Tea, coffee etc also available in evening.

Review 37:I loved the staff and the personal attention they gave me when I checked in, from giving me a tour of the facilities, attending to my questions, and recommending wonderful restaurants and activities!! I also enjoyed the library with the games and books! As a solo traveler, safety is of the utmost importance to me and I felt completely safe, secure, and serene!!!!

Review 38:The location of the hotel and facilities were very good. Nice touch having the library open during the day to relax and provide afternoon refreshments.

Review 39:Nothing-all good

Review 40:Staff couldn't be more helpful. Gave ready and useful advice Liked getting a welcome tour on arrival Lovely places to sit and have coffee/tea in and without the place. Library/lounge the sort people actually used. Good views. Air conditioned. Comfortable room and beds and well supplied. Well set out.

Review 41:There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 42:Very friendly and helpful; welcoming staff who were happy to advise about things to do and ways to do them. We got good advice! Loved our room, loved Hyannis and Cape Cod. Anchor In has very pleasant and comfortable rooms and thoughtful touches. Without being in your face, they manage to provide everything you need and more - a highlight of our six weeks to date in the States.

Review 43:Our room had a musty/mildew smell and the pool was very cloudy with green algae on one of the sides Water in the shower was brown/. Breakfast was very limited for someone with a dairy allergy

Review 44:Loved the location. The fire pit was fun to sit at at night and the view from the pool was beautiful! Staff were very helpful

Review 45:Everything was lovely. The location was central, but quiet and scenic. The property was clean and well kept. The staff was helpful and pleasant. I traveled alone with my 6 yr old son and he loved it as much as I did.

Review 46:Price was high for such a small room. No elevator, no microwave in room.

Review 47:The staff and location. Great! Room was small, faced the pool, but you could see the water from the balcony. No actual bathroom. Toilet and shower closed off, but sink was in open area in room. Little privacy. Good linens, paper products, service. Small fridge. Quiet. Parking no problem.Fire pit!Homey feel, warm and personal.

Review 48:Nothing

Review 49:Freindly and helpful staff made all guests feel comfortable and welcome. High standard of pool and outdoor seating. Great breakfast. And excellent views over harbour.

Review 50:We had a fantastic room looking over onto the harbour. Comfortable large room with veranda. We were also upgraded to a bigger room which helped sharing with two teenagers. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 51:Had to wait for a table at breakfast, had to clean up after breakfast (not that I mind it in general, but not after paying over $350 per night), limited choice after 8am. The room fridge was turned off by staf during cleaning. The bed was too soft and therefore too hot.

Review 52:Excellent location and grounds, very quiet at night. Well appointed and clean room.

Review 53:The room was very dated and beds were not very comfortable. Expected a lot more for the amount of money.

Review 54:Staff was polite and knowledgeable about the surrounding area

Review 55:The price was over $800 for 2 nights. For a motor lodge that cannot be interpreted as anything except poor value for money.

Review 56:Nice location overlooking the harbour. Lets not get carried away though, as Hyannis itself is not much to look at and this needs to be taken into account when considering location

Review 57:There was no elevator and we were on the 2nd floor. Had to drag our bags up stairs. The decking was made of wood and was splintering. The pool was murky and burned your eyes. Very uncomfortable.

Review 58:The location of this property. The views.

Review 59:Minor: we stayed in two different rooms and the lower level room has ceiling lights are very dim making the room darker than I like it. The room itself was quite nice in fact my husband preferred it over our balcony room so when we go back lower level it is!

Review 60:Being on Hyannis Harbor around the fire pit for the fireworks was awesome. The entire staff were personable and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much we canceled plans to go Maine in Aug. to go back here. So peaceful on the harbor!

Review 61:Very noisy ?generator operating at a nearby property ?the hospital, disturbed sleep at night and intruded on sitting outside during the day.

Review 62:Lovely setting, friendly staff.

Review 63:big bug crawling on ceiling that my wife made me hunt down and get rid of, balcony screen door fell off when I first opened it (fixed the next day) small bathroom, pillow way too soft, no microwave in room

Review 64:Location (close to everything), balcony view (lovely harbour), fire pit (great place to relax or meet people), breakfast (nicely presented), all staff very friendly, hotel appearance and atmosphere, room TV, pool area (not used but looked great)

Review 65:It's all the extra little touches which make this small hotel special. The breakfast is excellent and the warm cookies, squash and hot drinks from the library were all much appreciated. Staff were very helpful and recommended some good restaurants.

Review 66:The room was fairly spacious. The pool was nice & the location on the waterfront was nice. Staff was all very friendly. It was a bit pricey for the room (we had recently spent time on Martha's Vineyard and in Boston, staying at nice properties in both places for less money).

Review 67:we had reserved and were chargedd for a room with balcony and see view, but did not get it. We were informed that with reservation through Booking.com they do not consider wishes.

Review 68:They advertise harbor view rooms, but 90% of the rooms have NO view, you can see a slice of the harbor when you step on to the deck outside the room. This is false advertising. Also, the TV didn't work, but the staff was very courteous and helpful.

Review 69:Clean rooms, courteous staff, and they light a nice fire outside ...:

Review 70:I can't think of anything I didn't like!

Review 71:This family run hotel thought of everything. Towels at the heated pool. A fire pit to sit at an look out to sea in the evening. Tea and cookies in the afternoon. A lovely buffet breakfast. Excellent staff at reception to answer any queries.

Review 72:the view from the room was amazing! The room was exactly like the picture and very clean. This hotel was also in walking distance from Main Street. The room came with a continental breakfast, but it was European with ham, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit, awesome muffins (get the cinnamon) and assorted breads. Way beyond on expectations. The grounds by the pool are so well manicured with flowers. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance and live music at the BBC. Also, don't miss the black cat...great food.

Review 73:Kept getting bumped off wifi. Weak signal

Review 74:Rooms were clean updated and staff was excellent. The morning breakfast was great, large selection and fresh.

Review 75:Very nice! Anchor In's unique design affords a generous view of the harbor from its rooms or their balconies. Harbor view seating for a nice complimentary breakfast or evening snack gives it a luxurious touch. unfortunately because of the inclement weather, we were not able to enjoy the fire pit and its social scene. Being within walking distance of very nice restaurants makes the Anchor In a very worthwhile stay in Hyannis.

Review 76:The breakfast was boring and did not change. To much cereal and not enough choice of other items usually found on a continental breakfast bar.

Review 77:The beautiful views of the harbour. Mostly friendly staff Janet was particularly helpful on our arrival. Nice to have free coffee in the veranda after a day out site seeing.

Review 78:Vey clean, well kept and great location for ferries to the islands or just touring Cape Cod. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast. Good value for money.

Review 79:Within walking distance of Steamship Ferry terminal. Staff helpful allowing us to check in early which meant we could make the most of our day in Hyannis. Room was so comfortable with a balcony overlooking the Harbour and Immaculate Pool area. Great breakfast in Library with lots of board games for wet days. Wish we had stayed longer and done day trips to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard much cheaper than staying on the Islands.

Review 80:Nothing in particular - breakfast room can get busy.

Review 81:We usually stay. In 4 or 5 star hotels, so booked the Anchor with some trepidation. However we had no reason to be concerned. The hotel had a Great outlook over Hyannis harbour, and was an easy walk to harbour-front restaurants as well as Hyannis town. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 82:It looks more elegant in the pictures than it actually is. It's more like an upscale motel but it is on the waterfront.

Review 83:Location is steps to ferry terminal and across the street from the hospital. The rooms are large and very clean.

Review 84:There is a lot of light that comes into the room and wakes you up early in the morning

Review 85:Liked the location in the middle of Cape Cod, next to ferry to Nantucket, short drive to Woods Hole and easy drive to Province Town

Review 86:Wish breakfast had different options throughout the week instead of the same thing daily. Was good but not great.

Review 87:We loved almost everything about our stay. The view was beyond amazing! Nightly fire pit with blankets to snuggle up with and a very comfortable room.

Review 88:All good!

Review 89:Helpful friendly staff, great river location and good room facilities. Clean fluffy towels and bed linen...a pleasure to use. Great WiFi strength so I used a VPN to get UK TV!

Review 90:no all was good

Review 91:I travel a lot, 200 days a year. I stay in many hotels, motels and inns. this place is outstanding, well run, well thought out. highly recommended

Review 92:Only thing I didn't like is bathroom had no counter space or medicine cabinet to put anything. Had to leave everything in the living room and keep going back and forth.

Review 93:Great location; nice views; spotlessly clean; friendly delightful staff. Free continental breakfast in a lovely, cozy room overlooking water.

Review 94:We had great views from our room, we loved the library where we could relax and have a coffee. Very central location for exploring the cape. Staff friendly, efficient and helpful.

Review 95:I didn't like that there wasn't an elevator to the second floor..Dragging a suitcase up and down stairs is no fun..

Review 96:The staff was great and very helpful, The views of the harbor was great, The included breakfast was great with lots of choices.

Review 97:Breakfast is only until 9:30h. This was fine for us as we had to leave in the morning, but might be a bit early for guests that want to sleep in.

Review 98:I loved the view from our room, the breakfast (located in a very cute library with a large range of choices and much healthier food than in other hotels). The library had books in foreign languages and newspapers. Check in/check out went very smooth, lovely lady at the reception who showed us around the property and gave advice about restaurants in the area. Good room, clean and large enough for two persons. Lots of toiletries in the bathroom.

Review 99:We loved everything!

Review 100:We loved the room. We loved the view from the room and the breakfast was exceptional. All in all it was a very good experience. We thank you and will return. Thanks also to the staff....so helpful and friendly.

Review 101:The breafast could have scrambled eggs with bacon.

Review 102:We enjoyed the fire pit . I also liked the library very much, it was very clean. We will definitely be back in the summer!

Review 103:The breakfast area was very clean and they had a lot of cold foods to pick from. Just wish they had a hot food to choose. (I was very happy with my stay....I had to think a while to come up with something I didn't like).

Review 104:The desk staff was very helpful. They gave us great advice and helped arrange ferry tickets for us. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. There were enough blankets and pillows for everyone.

Review 105:Bed firm but not supportive; put the faux down comforter on top of the mattress pad and our second night sleep was wonderful! Summer months could be a bit noisy with kids and the pool, close balconies. The tall/high chairs on the balcony/patio are not for children; would be nice to have a high bar table with them. Bathroom vanities too high for younger kids under 4ft to reach.

Review 106:Excellent staff; cozy facility, great view of the small harbor and ferries from the MV and N ferry terminal; immaculate housekeeping in the rooms - they even clean the glass sliders every day! Great décor and updates. Nice breakfast, "family room" for relaxing- leather chairs, fireplace and granite bistro tables in and on the veranda overlooking the pool and harbor. The gas firepit was great to enjoy the evening air--and if you are cold there are fleece blankets to beat the chill. Will return again! Autumn rate of $119/nite was well worth it.

Review 107:Everything was exceptional. Staff, cleanliness and location. This was a great experience. Book here you will not be disappointed.

Review 108:none

Review 109:All reviews I read were true. Chris greeted us, helped us to start our little get away in a perfect way

Review 110:supper clean rooms, very friendly staff, makes you feel like your at home.

Review 111:Liked the view.

Review 112:They were really friendly and it was near to every thing

Review 113:Didn't allow pets

Review 114:Clean and comfortable.

Review 115:Convenient to the Ferry Friendly Staff Enjoyed Breakfast Comfortable Bed

Review 116:Friendliness of stuff

Review 117:Need more seats and space for breakfast

Review 118:Nice view. Games inviting to stay in.

Review 119:The bed was very comfortable, the view from the window with deck was great

Review 120:The location is lovely. However, we were just there for Thanksgiving nite,, having had dinner with friends nearby. good breakfast and friendly staff
