Reviews for Stone Soup Inn
Review 1:The staff (owner?) was unhappy and snippy because they couldn't reach us by phone to ask us when we would be arriving. Turned out that they don't have permanent staff there, but we didn't know that. They wanted to know the time when we would be arriving. Still, doesn't excuse them being snippy. There was no bathroom in our queen room, which was also a bad surprise. The bed was so screeching: any turn/shift woke me up because it was so loud. But the worst thing was dirty silverware that they served for breakfast. The breakfast itself was not bad, but the dirty knife in dry jam stuck to my napkin was too gross.
Review 2:The house was nice and cozy and pretty clean. The room was old-fashioned but cute. The bed was soft. Free parking is nice.
Review 3:The shower pressure could've been better.
Review 4:Very close to downtown, quick and easy walk to everywhere I wanted to go. Nice amenities like the bath, breakfast and snacks. Cozy big room. Felt more unique than your average hotel.
Review 5:My reservation was for Stone Soup, but once I arrived I was informed they had overbooked and I would be staying at Inn at the Villa. I almost choked when I walked into my room, the Stanza Five. Two plug in air fresheners in this small room. I have asthma! They were removed for me me though. Very disappointed! There was hair in the tub and a dead bug in the middle of the floor. The bed sheet had an old stain on it! Throw it away people! The drinking glasses supplied in the bathroom were filthy. The place is advertised as being patterned after an Italian villa. I was surprised to see my room was decorated in a Japanese motif. I realize this is a personal preference, but this would have been a deal breaker before I checked in. I was so uncomfortable here. The breakfast casserole was an unappetizing concoction. I was in town for a football game and was so pumped for that I just let it go. The lady at the desk didn't even ask how my stay was when I checked out. She just took my key and all she said was thank you. No more no less. Now I'm ready to submit my review and it's rated 4.6?! No way! I won't be back! Outrageous price for such a facility also.
Review 6:Location was it.
Review 7:There was a single, shared bathroom. I hadn't thought to check on this ahead of time. Internet service was a little sporadic.
Review 8:Nice, historic home with large rooms.
Review 9:Monotonous cold breakfast five days a week Land Lord friendly but too rigid and conservative A bit a distance away from town though tolerable
Review 10:Antique furniture style and house structure Accessible to bus transport Quiet environment Cool internal environment, well ventilated
Review 11:The staff was very friendly and the room was quaint and cozy.My girlfriend enjoyed the shower and bath. We also both loved the breakfast available to us.
Review 12:During our week long stay, every morning when we went to partake of the continential style breakfast, we would find the table set with dishes that had not been washed well and were sticky or had bits of food still on them. We became concerned about the food sanitation so much that we skipped the Sunday morning hot breakfast.
Review 13:The room was cute, and the house is very old and quaint. The inn Keeper was friendly. The neighborhood was fantastic.
Review 14:Our room hadn't been adequately cleaned: There were ants on the floor and in the (shared) bathroom. The rugs in our bedroom were covered in crumbs and needed to be vacuumed. We were unable to connect to the wifi.
Review 15:We loved the colors in our room (bright reds, oranges and blue), the comfy beds and robes, and the delicious and generous breakfast. We enjoyed the sitting room, library, free snacks, and spacious porches.
Review 16:Couldn't get wifi in bedroom, had to go down to the hall
Review 17:Very quaint little B & B, lovely clean decorated rooms. Staff were all lovely and welcomed us, would go back again :-)
Review 18:Room was very dark. Needs to be decorated in lighter colors. That,, along with all the pictures of dead people on the walls, was a little much.
Review 19:Gracious old house. Very comfortable. Sitting areas were great, but might be nice to make the balcony on the second floor accessible. Breakfast was delicious. Host was delightful.
Review 20:The innkeeper *could have* helped me with at least one of my bags going up the stairs. I was called about three times leading up to my stay confirming the time I would be arriving so they could "be ready" for me when I arrived; I thought that was great... however... I arrived within the time-frame I had given them and had to wait 15 minutes outside for the Inn Keeper to come back which made me late to a meeting I had to attend. The worst part of my stay was the train that decided to pass through at 2 am on my last night honking it's horn extremely loud - didn't sleep that night at all. I understand you can't control those things, but they should install soundproof windows then.
Review 21:The place was adorable. It was extremely well taken care of and clean. It was mostly quiet and peaceful although I was rarely there.
Review 22:Nothing bad to say....
Review 23:The house was amazing. The breakfast was good. Th staff was very polite.
Review 24:lack of drinking water options - just bathroom tap

Review 27:The front storm door it get stuck to open in the upper corner and it was ripped of the screen.
Review 28:Everything was nicely decorated and clean!
Review 29:Just a bit far from downtown
Review 30:The plug in room fragrance and too warm bed quilt and king bed mattress was worn out

Review 41:Real close to all downtown restraunts ... and Fair grounds..
Review 42:The traffic outside in the morning it got pretty loud asset times around 630 and 7am
Review 43:Loved the history the pictures the way the house was set up the bed was comfy with comfy bedding. Staff was awesome. Thank you!
Review 44:I asked for additional hangers and never got them. The noise of the train honking at 4:00 AM woke me up every day.
Review 45:Good Bed, Pillows, Towels. Spacious room. Breakfast was very good.
Review 46:No easy bus link to airport - you'll have to use a taxi.
Review 47:Friendly, safe location, walking distance (20 min) to downtown. Lots of character Great for business travelers who want a break from the standard corporate hotels.
Review 48:The shower head could be better and the shower door needs mending. There is some perfuming in the air that I would rather be without.
Review 49:Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed, big and nice room in a remarkable house. The weekend breakfast was excellent. Bus stop on the corner with 6 busses/hour to center (5 minutes). Near to Massachusetts Avenue (10 min. walk) -- "the street" to go in Indy. Recommend the restaurant at the very end of the street.
Review 50:The inn was absolutely amazing. There was so much to look at and enjoy. We stayed in the Victorian bedroom and it was decorated as a period piece, It was very comfortable, We were treated to a great breakfast and would stay there again. We would highly recommend this Inn.
Review 51:It's an old house so I know that the water takes a bit of time to warm up. The water in the bathroom sink never did get warm even after the shower had warmed up. Soda and snacks were provided but bottled water would have been nice.
Review 52:I like the whole atmosphere of the place.
Review 53:Extremely disappointed that there is no ice or coffee available. I would like to suggest the addition of a single serve coffee pot to the butler's pantry would be very nice and that guest be advised that there is no ice when they check in. We were unable to access the wifi; we were made aware of a "work around" only after mentioning it before leaving.
Review 54:Beautiful home, lovely furnishings and wonderful downtown location without feeling like you are in the middle of the business district. Our weekend breakfãst was outstanding! We will probably stay here again; bringing our own ice and coffee.
Review 55:The bed was not the most comfortable. Had trouble getting on wifi but probably user error.
Review 56:It felt like home. Great Butler's Pantry. Beautiful place. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was just right. Really enjoyed it!
Review 57:Beautiful old building in a spectacular neighborhood. Close to spa (could walk it, but we drove because the weather was bad). Breakfast was very nice with lots of options. Met many interesting people from out of town.
Review 58:It was completely dark with no name showing on arrival and a sign on the door asking me to phone a neighbour (as a visitor to the US I did not have a cellphone so had to flag down a passer-by to call them). Other guests very noisy (laughter from downstairs then creaking floorboards betrayed their 3am bedtime). No en-suite bathroom. All the complementary snacks had been eaten/drunk.
Review 59:The Inn is gorgeous. It's a lovely building in a beautiful setting. My favourite toiletries too. Very nice breakfast. Would have liked a longer stay, altho' preferably with quieter fellow guests.
Review 60:wonderfully decorated in consistent style. Fabulous neighborhood - i walked it and enjoyed the other restored victorian houses. Breakfast was great - lots of choice.
Review 61:The bed was very squeaky and bit uncomfortable.
Review 62:I very much liked the room. Ben was an incredible host. His breakfasts were delicious and the hospitality was phenominal. Everyone I came in contact with at Stone Soup Inn was very cordial and accomadating.
Review 63:Location. Ease of entry/exit. Check-in/check-out painless. Quiet.
Review 64:They need more than one bathroom and more distinction in towels.
Review 65:Sad that the fireplace in our blueroom was out of order.
