Reviews for Overton Hotel and Conference Center

Review 1:There needs to be some touch up in the hallways and work on walls. There appears to be some wall abuse from the cleaning folks that should be taken care of.

Review 2:Always a nice stay.

Review 3:Buffett lunch was horrible, food not fresh, some items not refilled or replaced with another option. Would like to be able to get a regular size cup of coffee with creamer. Individual coffee maker in room not adequate.

Review 4:Location is very convenient, and staff is always friendly.

Review 5:Pillows; Do NOT like our stay posting to our calendar and notices went without our authorization. Doorman didn't want to allow us to use a cart to take our bags to our room?

Review 6:Comfort and cleanliness; friendliness of staff

Review 7:We had to leave a night early, due to inclement weather. The staff gave us credit for our last night without hesitation and advised us about surrounding weather.

Review 8:no complimentary breakfast or coffee. classmates of mine reported their hotel was cheaper, nice, food location to txtech and had complimentary breakfast

Review 9:location and style of hotel

Review 10:The Internet/wifi service was absolutely horrible. Also, the cable flickered the entire time. This contributed to my discomfort, ease of working from hotel room. Also, workout room is subpar. Needs new equipment.

Review 11:Nice rooms. Great restaurant and bar. You really don't need to leave the property.

Review 12:The staff was not to happy, or cheerful. They came across like they didn't even want to talk to you. The toilet consent had the water running, and still would change us rooms. So we keep waking up to fix it were it would stop for a little then it started again.

Review 13:Location, is about it

Review 14:I paid $209 for a room on the 15th floor with no microwave and having to pay $3 on top of that for water.

Review 15:The bed was comfortable as well as the a/c.

Review 16:The room was nice and very comfortable. The breakfast was AMAZING! I only stayed long enough to sleep and get ready to for my flight the next morning, but I enjoyed my stay.

Review 17:Prices skyrocket when demand is high. Food is ok, but not a good valuefor the prices they charge. First night, found a couple of items in thebed which indicated the sheets had not been changed. Complained tomanagement & asked for linen change for 2nd night. Manager was verynice, comped breakfast. Would have rather had a discount on room rate& gone to breakfast at ihop. Child just started college at ttu, sowhile I expect to return to Lubbock many times over the next 4 years, Iprobably will only return to the Overton as a last resort.

Review 18:Nice facility Great Location

Review 19:Loved everything. Location was awesome, directly across from Texas tech university, within walking distance to restaurants, beautiful hotel, comfortable beds and pillows, exceptionally clean, restaurant had a wonderful breakfast/brunch we enjoyed.

Review 20:Poor beds + who configured those pillows? No tub Despite breakfast-in-room offering, no way to dine in king room with one chair and no dining table

Review 21:Friendly, young staff Good restaurant (tho pricey) on site Great breakfast w/ omelet bar Easy parking

Review 22:The staff was fantastic. There was a minor booking problem that was immediately addressed when I arrived, and the desk staff was superb. One of the very best hotels in my experience for the business traveler.

Review 23:Housekeeping missed cleaning the nigh stands. There were what appeared to be toe nail clippings left on one nightstand from a previous visitor.

Review 24:Room was very nice. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Review 25:Amazing room with awesome view of Tech and surrounding neighborhood. Staff went above and beyond and facilities were excellent. We will not stay anywhere else when in town.

Review 26:Check-in supervisor was unwilling (until I stayed firm) to honor the agreed upon Texas Tech student rate. Room had smell that was just not quite convincing that cleaning had been good. Eggs were awful and I could not eat them. Was afraid I would get sick. Just disappointed overall. Has the ability to be a great place.

Review 27:Location in relation to the college. Room was nice size.

Review 28:Restaurant food was terrible. Housekeeping did not clean one day. Coffeemaker broken and not replaced after reporting problem. Over priced for such poor service.

Review 29:Room air conditioner broken...room was extremely hot upon arrival...thought due to west facing room, sun, and open drapes. Wrong, the air conditioner never cooled the room...slept hot & mattress was unusually firm so got a terrible night's sleep. The morning of check out a horrible sewer smell came through the air conditioner vent at the wall to right of window...awful disgusting smell. Night before after parking my car on right side of building and walking back to side entrance, my shoes sunk into the grass (no sidewalk) that was completely saturated with standing water, drenching shoes & hems of slacks. Came to Lubbock to go to my son's induction into the National Collegiate Honor Society the night of my arrival. At checkout, I informed male desk clerk of a/c problem and standing water on side of hotel and he made a completely lame excuse which did NOT at all apply....told me next time, call & ask for a/c filter to be changed. Told him that why then did the sewer odor come & go on it's own the morning if check out. My entire family has stayed there multiple times & upon their recommendation I booked a room.

Review 30:Very attractive room & lobby.

Review 31:The hallways were noisy with other guests talking and going in and out of their rooms, all hours of the night - could see daylight under the door to my room, which probably didn't help block the noise out. Room could've been much quieter. Didn't sleep that well.

Review 32:I liked the facility overall. Room was spacious

Review 33:The only issue I had was that housekeeping came knocking on our door to early but I understand that some guests like that but at 9am I am not ready. I am still relaxing in my robe at that time enjoying my view and hot beverage.

Review 34:We enjoyed our stay very much, everything was amazing and the staff was there whenever we needed anything. There is not one thing that we didn't like, except the fact we forgot our swimming suits to take advantage of the pool but I highly recommend staying here.

Review 35:Becca and Eric and the rest of the restaurant/ bar staff are very inviting and fun. The hotel is well appointed and is a good place to stay for business. I've stayed many times and have enjoyed every visit.

Review 36:Funky porte cochere with a tight drive loop does not accomodate more than a couple of cars. Phones did not work. Cell phone call to hotel to get front desk service went to an answering machine.

Review 37:Great locaton. Reasonable valet parking.

Review 38:used q tip on the floor of the bathroom. Restaurant prices are too high for the fare. Entrees should include sides.

Review 39:location. Room was clean. Nice view of University. Quiet.

Review 40:Nothing at all to dislike about this hotel

Review 41:Beautiful lobby,well-designed rooms with spacious bathroom and walking distance to Texas Tech campus. Free parking and very polite staff maked it a very pleasant stay.

Review 42:The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was exceptionally clean. No hassle check-in/check-out. Hope to stay here everytime we visit Lubbock.

Review 43:The shower was rusted and dirty, house keeping kept waking us up and barged in our room. Our tv kept blinking on and off.

Review 44:I liked the huge bed! The bed was the best part of the whole room!

Review 45:Staff told me "100% occupancy so the wi-fi is slow"; my response, plan for 150% occupancy so the wi-fi M->O-V->E->S walls are thin, could hear neighbors snoring bellmen didn't suggest a process for unload and registration. poor parking availability.

Review 46:It was graduation weekend . Although the staff was great, they were understaffed in the bar area and the restaurant . Coffee area in the morning was the same . Only one girl working . Complimentary coffee would have made it easier for her .

Review 47:The wifi was very slow and kept kicking us off. Also, I never use glass drinking glasses at a hotel. I would have preferred to have plastic or paper that are individually wrapped.

Review 48:Love the comfy beds and the reading lights on the headboard are a nice extra.

Review 49:Floors in bathroom were not very clean. Stain on blanket on bed. Breakfast buffet was ok, but nothing special for what it cost.

Review 50:Location was good. Staff was courteous.

Review 51:We left at 10:30am from our room returned at 12am and our room was not cleaned!! Not happy with that! The filing in the comforter on our bed was all knotted making it uncomfortable to sleep.

Review 52:walls are very thin could hear people in rooms on both sides of the room. could also hear some bumping sounds coming from somewhere early in the morning. could hear doors slamming and elevator.

Review 53:room was very nice and clean. staff was very helpful.

Review 54:Pool was very cold. Wifi signal was very bad.I received a "maximum number of users reached" error and when I reported it, all they could tell me is to keep trying. Quality of food at the Pecan Grill was fair. It took a while to get my cappuccino. It was delivered by the lady at the coffee bar so I can only assume that they had to serve the to-go customers first before me. Service at the coffee bar was slow. Need to put more staff there, esp. In the mornings when it gets very busy.

Review 55:The proximity to Texas Tech. Walking distance to various restaurants. The room was spacious. There's a fridge in the room. Furnitures are new. More value for the money. Friendly housekeeping staff.

Review 56:very comfortable beds and the bathroom is well sound insulated from the bedroom.
