Review 1：The towels are old. They were white but now a greyish colour. Pillow cases could also be replaced with new covers. The shower needs a good clean as it has mould in it.

Review 3：We had at least 3calls from reception whilst having a DO NOT DISTURB sign, very annoying! The shower was moulding & needs a good scrub - such a put-off especially since the room/bathroom were spotless.

Review 13：That there are no smoking rooms or even a designated area besides the. Balcony by the bar as the weather was wet and freezing and u would have to go up in sleep wear when you want to smoke.

Review 15：The linen was a bit of a put off, I expected extremely white linen and white towels for such a lovely hotel. The colour used to be white in that colour it does not look clean even if it is.

Review 17：The uncivilised noise from other guests who until 4:30 am were shouting and talking loudly in corridors and in rooms with open doors (as if in an argument). Banging of doors and inappropriate, inconsiderate noise should be checked by management.

Review 19：The bathroom is very small - it could have been slightly smaller without affecting the room size dramatically - and the extractor fan didn't work so moisture ran down the walls after a shower.

Review 23：The shower layout leaked onto bathroom floor. Reception doubles up as a breakfast serving counter in the morning. Feels too much like a multi purposed roomed hotel. We could not correctly check out due to breakfast being served from the counter. Why is there still another door by the bar upstair to have to go through to get to your room. We met people in their pajamas on our way out as they were using the vending machine, with the door being there is caused a hold up.

Review 27：Our original room had an ant infestation in the bathroom. We asked the staff for insect repellent but they had none. So we were forced to take another room, but as the hotel was relatively full there weren't many options. The first room we were shown had a strong chemical smell. The only other room available was a distance away, but there was no option but to take it. Despite these inconveniences, we were not offered anything to make up for it. I found that rather disappointing.

Review 31：They don't like kids because they don't have any baby high chair.they don't help you with luggage when you arrive with a lot of luggage. Staff are not busy but they don't try to help you. They prefer to stay nothing to do !

No burglar bars on lowest floor so could not leave window open at night. Bed was small for 2 people; uncomfortable without a suitable duvet. Linen and towels had a funny smell. Unable to call reception from room phone. Noisy, other guests unconsiderate and hotel management were not fazed. Loud traffic disrupts sleep in early hours of the morning. No bar fridge. Poor response from staff if issue was queried, had to ask for feedback on several occasions. Overall: terrible!

Review 37：Unfriendly welcome. We asked for a quiet room and got a smelly one and asked to move. Price point of the hotel attracts people that don't have courtesy to others by making noise until late. Think twice before staying, smart pictures on the Web don't tell you what you are really going to experience. We will NEVER stay at this establishment again.

Overall there wasn't anything I could fault The Urban Hotel on. Enjoyed our stay even though it was just for one night, definitely value for money, I would stay there again - definitely :-)

Review 41：The pillows were too hard and could not sleep properly. This was a repeat stay and I did not have this problem when the hotel had just opened.

Review 43：Beds were very uncomfortable. The parking bays are right outside the rooms, There's no privacy. The aircons give of a funny smell,I presume that they haven't been cleaned recently. The teas and coffees are free, but very very limited. My key card didn't work, I had to keep going to reception to complain.

Review 44：1. When we arrived, there was loadshedding, and we could not check in, because the hotel did not have a hard copy backup. We were asked to return in two hours. We did this, the electricity was back on, but the "system" was still offline. Now, however, they had printed check-in cards! 2. We were left to find our own rooms, with directions to the floors only, no escort or carrier. 3. The rooms are small and Spartan. Not even a closet, just an open rail. We ordered dinner in, from an outside restaurant, via reception. We waited an HOUR AND A HALF for dinner. 4. The bar offers no room service, not even plain cold drinks. The lady at reception somehow procured tinned cold drinks for us. 5. We went to bed early, as we had a long road ahead, and I'm a lone driver. I was woken at 21h10 by a banging on the door (not knocking). The reception lady wanted to know if my companion was still in my room, as they had given her a staff key card, and wished to give her a regular card. I said that she had returned to her room. I had just fallen asleep again, at 21h25, I was woken by the phone. Reception wanted to know which room my companion was in!!!!! I said 268. The next morning, I saw that my companion (an inexperienced, elderly, rural woman) still had the same key-card. When I enquired, she said that they had knocked at 21h30 and told her that they had put her "in the wrong room" and they had come to move her. She refused to open and referred them to me. Fortunately they did not bother me again, as I would have exploded. It bears saying that the "wrong" room was exactly the same type of room as that which we had reserved and paid for! 6. The breakfast area is in the foyer, glass enclosed, and virtually on the pavement. 7. Although the breakfast was nice, it was not worth R95pp. 8. For the relatively high cost per room, this is not worth it! This is strictly a budget hotel.
