Reviews for Pousada do Príncipe
Review 1:The internet in the bedroom didn't work properly.
Review 2:The location of the Pousada is excellent, very close to the historical centre. Staff is very friendly and willing to assist in any requests. The breakfast is delicious, with fresh fruits and typical Brazilian dishes.
Review 3:The room we had was on the breakfast area noise early morning and we had the Sound of the swimming pool engine as well, Just ask for a room further that part of the poussada and its perfect
Review 4:The poussada Is beautiful, spécially around the swimming pool, 5 minutes from the historical paraty center, and Just next to the bus station to escale to trindade.
Review 5:Maybe a little expensive and the breakfast could be better
Review 6:The best location, just one block from the bus station and near to the historical center of the city. Nice swimming pool
Review 7:Friendly and helpful staff, right from the check-in we felt very welcome in the hotel. The lounge and restaurant area was comfortable, rooms clean, and breakfast tasty. Too bad we could only stay for one night. If we'll come back to Paraty, we'll definitely consider staying here again. Good quality for the price we paid.
Review 8:Our double room was on the small side, but perfectly adequate. There wasn't really anything I disliked.
Review 9:Location was just outside historic centre, so an easy 5 minute walk. Rooms are clean and simple, but confortable. The pool area is beautufil. Breakfast was extensive in its selection and delicious. The dining area looks over the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful, most spoke some English. A great stay.
Review 10:Some Staff dont talk english or other language, not even any word
Review 11:Wonderful pool-area, good breaktast, late check-out and even umbreallas are free for using ny rainy days
Review 12:The hotel is nice (patio, pool, garden) but the rooms are a bit old, a bit dark and a bit wet. Wifi has never worked in 3 days.
Review 13:Breakfast. Nice patio and swimming pool. Late check out.
Review 14:The wifi was weak in the public areas and non existent in the rooms. Also, there was occasional noise in the hallways early in the mornings but this is to be expected.
Review 15:The location, breakfast, service of the staff and overall feel of the property were excellent. My partner and I had a wonderful time and were particularly impressed with the politeness and attentiveness of the staff.
Review 16:The breakfast was very disappointing. The 2nd day a few stale cakes and bread were put out, nothing fresh. I was horrified to see the small birds landing on the food. No cloth to cover open area where food was. No toaster only a sandwich maker.
Review 17:The location of the hotel was good as close to shops, bus stop etc. Salvador the manager was very helpful.
Review 18:Room is small & outdated, poor choice at breakfast by Brazilian standards, difficult to find parking nearby
Review 19:Good location 5min walk from old town centre, decent value, big swimming pool
Review 20:My boyfriend and I stayed at the Pousada do Principe for 4 nights in the middle of May. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole stay, and were particularly impressed by various members of the staff who went out of their way to help us with some specific enquiries that we had. As per other comments, the location is perfect and the whole hotel has a very calm atmosphere.
Review 21:It is a lovely and quiet place where all the staff was friendly even when they did not speak english. I have to say a personal thank you to Salvatore (the owner) that really helped me when I had a problem and took me to the police. I would suggest to everyone to book at this pousada
Review 22:Location (near old town) Stylish "Paraty-esque" decoration Historical artworks/portraits Swimming pool Very decent breakfast Discrete, kind staff Strongly recommended!
Review 23:There seemed to be more mosquitoes in the pousada than in paraty ingeneral. Maybe this was due to the pool? Wifi did not work in my room, only in lounge (with the mosquitoes!) As a woman travelling solo, the insistence of the night clerk to offer me "company" in my room was not appreciated.
Review 24:Very quiet, lovely trees and lots of birds chirpping in the morning. Staff mostly spoke no English but very helpful anyway. Excellent location and very comfortable bed. Breakfast ok.
Review 25:Our bathroom had mold on one of the walls
Review 26:Just 5 min away from the old city and the port. Staff was exceptionally helpful. They even left us a small bottle of champagne (it was our honeymoon) which was really nice
Review 27:Noisy guests at night by the pool and the wifi was not working - with no effort from staff to help me with an alternative way to send an important email.
Review 28:Lovely pool and setting
Review 29:Swimming pool was not clean and not heated. Very basic/simple decoration in the room. Very basic/simple sanitary facilities Staff didn't know the location of a cash-dispenser, but it was just to the left of the hotel. The bed is too big for the room. Very little space left for putting your suitcase. Suitcase needed to be put on the ground but termites walked into our suitcases.
Review 30:Location Breakfest O.K. for a two-night stay.
Review 31:Floors were clean but had old wax that should be removed. advertised a local Thai restaurant but front desk did not know where it was located! (by the way it is located on Rua Comercio in historic center and excellent); I arranged my tours to waterfalls and city through another company since no one spoke English in the hotel and I ( I speak some portuguese) wanted to be sure of the specifics
Review 32:Location,relatively quiet, refreshing pool, comfortable room with pool view, good breakfast, room safe, friendly staff, great showers with shampoo and soap provided
Review 33:The quality of the WiFi was very poor. Some days there was no internet access available at all. The staff tried to be very helpful but hardly spoke any English. They seem to work very closely together with Paraty Tours and only recommend their services. However there are much cheaper and better quality tours available from other companies.
Review 34:The Pousada is perfectly located in the centre of Paraty very close to the main bus terminal. Despite its central location the restaurant and pool area are very nicely integrated in an exotic and quiet garden. The staff tried to be very helpful.
Review 35:The room was way too small and the bathroom was semi-integrated into the room (toilet had a door though).
Review 36:Quiet location very close to the Rodoviaria (central bus stop), nevertheless only 5 minutes walk to the historic centre of Paraty. Good breakfast.
Review 37:nothing.
Review 38:We have arrived there during our honeymoon and had a really perfect stay! Salvador, the manager and his crew were extremly nice and helpful (english speakers). The pousada is very well decorated with a vintage touch. Our room was very spacious with huge bed and relaxing pool view. The location is just next to the historical center, perfect for exploring and feeling Paraty. And the breakfest- really really great!
Review 39:Nothing!
Review 40:Situated a block from the bus station and 3 blocks from the old town. Beautiful surroundings, echoes of the past in a traditional setting. Super friendly staff and quiet tropical setting. Close to everything and yet quieter than being in the centre of the old town. Nice breakfast included.
Review 41:Pleasant welcome: one of the few places I have stayed where staff did actually spoke english. Nice breakfast over in a veranda over the swimming pool. Large, good shower. Just a short walk from Paraty old city and literally 1 min away from the bus station.
Review 42:The noise throughout the night from the adjacent building - not good for light sleepers in Room 201.
Review 43:Good location, short distance from the bus station and not far from the old town. Friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of food for breakfast.
Review 44:Not the pousada's fault, but there seemed to be generators going on and off all night; maybe aircon.
Review 45:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, lovely layout dining room and pool. Good location for bus station (but not too near) and for walking into old town.
Review 46:The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was always very good. It's a pretty hotel that's well kept and clean. I'd certainly recommend Posuada do Principe.
Review 47:Room terrible Bathroom and shower terrible very dated No facilities very small rooms no ventilation Broken utilities Lots of Mosquitos absolutely hated our stay there
Review 48:Just the breakfast area was decent nothing else
Review 49:it was my second time in Pousada do Principe and I do not regret choosing it once more. Very close to the historic center (four minute walk) with nice ambience, good breakfast, nice pool area and very helpful staff. It is very close to the Rodoviaria so no need for taxis even when you have luggage.
Review 50:The lady who welcomed us was not very welcoming but all the other staff made up for it!
Review 51:Great location- on main street of Paraty and close to hisyoric centre as well as bus station. Lovely staff! One of them went out of their way to show us a great place to eat for a decent price and made us delicious (deceptively lethal) caiprihinas. Breakfast was also delicious with lots on offer.
Review 52:If i was being very picky, i'd say wi-fi was slow and a toaster would be a handy addition for breakfast
Review 53:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, they really made me feel welcome!! Can't speak highly enough of them, spoke portugese, english and spanish too.
Review 54:No airco in the room
Review 55:Service
Review 56:Overall, the pousada had a good atmosphere and staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 57:very very good
Review 58:WIFI didn't work in our room, but we could get it in the dining area.
Review 59:Located close to the historical centre and restaurants. Good breakfast.
Review 60:Helpful staff, great pool, lovely breakfast. Situated 1.5 blocks from the historical centre and 1 block from the Bus station. Highly recommend!
Review 61:Rooms in the back have noise of street/bus station behind
Review 62:Pool and lounge area, nearness to historic city center
Review 63:Cold at night
Review 64:Good value and Characteristic
Review 65:standard room sound isolation can be better, but the rooms are being renovated, so this will improve
Review 66:Great location, staff nice and helpful
Review 67:The pool
Review 68:situation et le cadre
Review 69:standard of the room, last renovation loooong time ago
Review 70:Lobby, Pool
Review 71:Wifi unstable. Breakfast a bit messy.
Review 72:Next to the busstation. Close to old city. Rooms are a bit outdated but all in all a very good pick.
Review 73:Location
Review 74:Setup of the breakfast area was great being next to courtyard
Review 75:Noisy air-conditioned Old mattress horrible towels
Review 76:Location Pool Breakfast
Review 77:Nothing.
Review 78:Pool, breakfast, bartender
Review 79:Poor wifi
Review 80:Good rooms Pool area Close to all attractions
Review 81:nothing
Review 82:very friendly and helpfull staff english speaking owner 300 mtrs from old centre
Review 83:The wifi was bad
Review 84:The room was great with a short walk into town.
Review 85:Our room did not take sun and so there was smell of humidity!
Review 86:Breakfast was good!
Review 87:Can't think of anything alse than the absence of a parking. However, there is a guarded parking lot 80 metres further down the road...
Review 88:Very charming poussada, great location in city centre. I was warmly welcomed by the manager and felt right at home thanks to the extra friendly bartender. Great spot for visiting Paraty, do not hesitate. Breakfast around the pool, relaxing at night with a caipirinha and above all very affordable.
Review 89:The room was lovely and the shower was excellent. The breakfast was great and different foods were served each day. The pousada is in a great location - it's a minute walk away from the bus station and a 5 minute walk from the historical old town.
Review 90:- location : very close from bus station and close to the historical city center (and banks/shops) - excellent and solid breakfast (new cake every day) - staff : very helpful and friendly - setting: series of large rooms surrounding a patio with a pool - overall: very good value for the money
Review 91:Room was a little noisy in the morning as located close to breakfast area.
Review 92:Very close to Bus terminal, literarlly walk across the pedestrian crossing outside the bus station and stay on that road for 1 minute and you will walk along the side entrance to the pousada with a sign along its wall. Very near historic centre of town also. Big shower and large room.
Review 93:Breakfast served drop by drop, not enough staff to cater for the service Maid forgot to service my room
Review 94:Friendly staff, good location, nice swimming pool
Review 95:Many mosquitoes, but it's very common in this area of Brazil so it's not the pousada's fault.
Review 96:Excellent staff! excellent location, 5 min. by foot to the historic center (FYI, no cars are allowed in the historic center and dragging your luggages there could be a nightmare!) Very good breakfast and very nice rooms.
Review 97:Reception bit disjointed - would have been nice to have been offered a drink in hotel whilst waiting for room on very hot day. Instead told to come back in 1 hour after which receptionist had changed and new one tried to make me fill out all paperwork again.....
Review 98:Great location near bus stop - easy to find.
Review 99:The room close to the reception was extremely noisy starting from 7am in the morning. Felt like phone was ringing and people were talking in our room. Internet was a disaster and the few times we actually managed to connect it was very slow.
Review 100:Location was good. A few minutes walk from historical center. Breakfast was good as with reasonable choice as long as you arrived not too late.
Review 101:This is really more of a hotel than a pousada, so it loses some of the intimacy of the much smaller places. The upside to this are the greater range of facilities. Other than the comments about the breakfast above, the only criticism was the slight drip of the air conditioning unit in the room above dripping on our window sill. Got used to it though and when we looked from the outside, it was only happening to our room (119).
Review 102:This was a lovely pousada in a fantastic location, only 300m from the old town. Big room with a king-sized bed for a good price - double for R$218 or about £55. Pretty courtyard terrace / garden with a swimming pool. Could have breakfast there in the morning and drinks in the evening. Breakfast was nice with delicious fruit, cakes and jams. Only downside was the fruit squash / cordial rather than proper fruit juice (Brazil has some of the best and most interesting fruits in the world, so a shame not to get proper juice) and processed cheese and ham (but it's like this all over Brazil). The staff were great. Most spoke English and / or French. They organised our two trips (jeep tour of local waterfalls and cachaça distilleries and a schooner trip to the islands and remote beeches). Both were amazing, and whilst we were initially worried we might be getting a little ripped off as there wasn't a choice of jeeps or schooners given to us, we weren't at all - really good quality / size compared to the other jeeps and schooners we saw. The historical connections to Brazil and Portugal's former monarchy are also very interesting. We've stayed in Paraty three times now over the last five years and this was the best quality pousada.
Review 103:Pool dirty. Room average. Location OK but if you can afford to spalsh out stay in the old part. Place is lacking a certain something
Review 104:Decent enough base for Paraty. Prob the least fav of our honeymoon trip around brazil but we stayed in some great places so this one avg compared
Review 105:Mosquitos, had to pay for safety deposit box, internet was veeery slow e.g. Did not work. Staff was ok but not overly friendly
Review 106:Location, breakfast, value for money
Review 107:Be aware with mosquitos in the breakfast area No Internet connection in the rooms farther away from the reception
Review 108:Friendly environment Nice swimming pool
Review 109:Staff could be better in English, but that is a general brazilian issue, though they will do all to help you in any request.
Review 110:Very well located in centre of Paraty. Very accomodation with air, fair space and nice ambiance with swimming pool. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Really reccomended
Review 111:Travelling from canada this was a great place to stay , we were staying at hostels before and decided to spend a few more dollars. We're glad we did it.
Review 112:The room was very humid and unfortunately we had two big coakroaches (baratas) in two different ocasions.
Review 113:Stafff very friendly and helpful , close to the historic center, good breakfast .
Review 114:Good location (close to busstation) with friendly staff. They will help you all the time and can inform you about Paraty and the activities. Room is nice and clean.
Review 115:The Wifi signal was deficient in our room, but otherwise it functionedreally well in the lobby and other areas
Review 116:The colonial architecture was really nice and fitted perfectly with thecity's architecture and ambient. The staff was really helpful ingiving information about the sites to visit and helped us bookingdifferent trips around Paraty
Review 117:There is no parking at the pousada. Another point is that my credit card was charged (1 night) at the moment that I made my booking (almost 2 months before).
Review 118:Location,as it was very close to historic downtown. The breakfast is also good, with a lot of variety of fruits, cakes, bread, cereals... Other advantage is the pool, after the beach you can simply relax in a very pleasant atmosphere.
Review 119:My stay at Pousada do Principe in Paraty was very good. Reception and all the people working there where so very kind and helpful. Breakfast was everyday perfect. Room was great and the pool as fantastic. The Pousada is located in the center of Paraty, very close to the busstation. Thank you very much for a very nice stay.
Review 120:the 2 of 3 days there, a kids group was staying there, not as quiet or relaxing as it could of been due to the kids group
Review 121:great location very friendly staff design of pousada very nice good pool great breakfast very safe
Review 122:Rooms slightly outdated but fit well with the whole concept.
Review 123:Excellent stuff and manager. Made us feel like home. Excellent location and very clean rooms. The pool area was fantastic. Don't miss the great food at the restaurant!!!
Review 124:At breakfast time we sometimes had to ask for a bowl, a tea bag or something that really should have been out there on the table.
Review 125:Everything. Beautiful building. Great staff. We were very happy with our room, the bed, easy access to a safe. We didn't try the pool but just looking at it was peaceful. We were so happy that we chose the right place to stay! Thank you.
Review 126:We had a thoroughly enjoyable time staying at this Pousade. It was located close to the old town and bus station which is perfect for day trips to the beach. The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed relaxing by the swimming pool. The staff spoke English and were extremely helpful.
Review 127:The bathroom didn't have a door (as is the case for throughout this hotel.) The wifi works intermittently in the rooms. Works slightly better in the common areas like the reception area. The room is plain with its interiors - rather very basic. The toilet seemed just enough in terms of space.
Review 128:The hotel is literally a stone's throw from Paraty Bus Station. A 3 min walk from the Historic Centre. Though the staff spoke very little English, they certainly possessed a customer-friendly mindset throughout. A good breakfast spread although the options for Eggs are limited. While checking in, we were told about some of the main attractions of this beautiful mesmerizing town. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Strangely, the bar rates/prices seem very economical as well.
Review 129:The location has its issues. It can be a bit noisy. I think if I were to stay in Paraty again I would stay in the historical centre, even though it's more expensive.
Review 130:The staff were very nice, and the accommodation was quite comfortable, especially the bed. The pool looked lovely but I never got a chance to take a dip. The breakfast buffet was superb. The hotel is only a short walk from the historical centre, and from the bus station, a supermarket and some cheap restaurants (which suited me as I was travelling on a budget). Yet the accommodation was a bit more luxurious than usual for me, which was nice.
