Reviews for Indy Hostel

Review 1:The distance from the city center, nevertheless there are a few good spots nearby to eat and have fun.

Review 2:Awesome staff and guests! Clean place with many activities and a good structure. The atmosphere is really amazing and the beds are comfortable. Two clean individual bathrooms upstairs for shower is cool!

Review 3:Not many bathrooms and the room itself was not great as far as energy outlets and place to put stuff.

Review 4:It's a nice location but it is no Hostelling international. PArking is ok in the neighborhood.

Review 5:This gem was such a wonderful find and perfect for the situation I was in. My expectations were thrown out the door after I found an amazing backyard complete with fire pit which made the nights at Indy hostel the best I've spent in months. On top of that the staff was always helpful and sincerely concerned with the quality of my stay, which after living at hostels in other countries was a welcomed experience. They also have a fully equipped kitchen should you find yourself here for an extended stay and 2 very comfortable sofas if you have the desire to stay in to read. Showers were hot with clean bathrooms and there was even one with a bathtub if you fancy. All in all a superb stay!

Review 6:My bed was a bit hard.

Review 7:Excellent hostel in a great area of Indianapolis. I was in the area for a conference and was able to rest with no disruptions every night.

Review 8:The only slight downside is there isn't much around the hostel- no bars or restaurants. However it is a short walk to the bus stop where you can easily get to Downtown or Broad Ripple, where there is plenty of stuff to do!

Review 9:This hostel was very clean and extremely comfortable. The staff work hard to make sure you are happy and they make you feel very welcome. Overall I had a wonderful stay here and would happily stay again.

Review 10:Option of breakfast would have been ideal - though it didn't spoil stay (Café Patachou nearby is superb!). On-site bar would have been ideal too - though again it didn't spoil stay. Probably not enough rooms to make it worthwhile.

Review 11:Lovely neighbourhood with good selection of bars/eating places within a mile walk. Good access to cycle paths. Laid back, friendly, helpful staff. Basic, clean, comfortable accommodation - everything I had hoped for from hostel.

Review 12:There wasn't any AC which could be because it's still spring, maybe they add window units in Summer

Review 13:I was in Indianapolis for an event on Butler Campus and this hostel was only a few minutes away. On top of that, it has a great eclectic feel, is in a quiet neighborhood, and only about 10 minutes from the middle of downtown. When I return to Indy I definitely will come back and skip the hotels.

Review 14:Nothing!

Review 15:This hostel was amazing! Definitely one of the best I've stayed in, and I've stayed in a fair few. The atmosphere was really relaxed, laid back and hippy-style and the accommodation was this big, old, converted quaint house with huge charm and appeal. It was a fairly quiet time of year when I travelled so I was the only person in the female dorm but the bunks have double bottom beds so I had plenty of space and it was so comfortable. Cleanliness wasn't an issue, it was spotless and WiFi was excellent. Outside there's a patio area and garden to relax and hang out in. If I'm passing through Indianapolis again, this would be the only place I'd consider staying.

Review 16:I stayed at the Indy Hotel only to wake up and have the owner literally harass me for using one of the too main door. Then he wanted to "make sure" I was never staying there again. The guy's definitely a hipster princess that is hostile to guests that bath and shave.

Review 17:I was a little concerned over the idea of the hostel not being staffed at night and trust is completely left in the hands of a locked door with a code to get in... Is that safe?

Review 18:The staff were absolutely wonderful!

Review 19:I liked everything.

Review 20:The atmosphere, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff. The room was so bright and happy. Everyone was upbeat. It was relaxing and I felt at home. I've stayed at the most expensive hotels and I can honestly say this was the happiest I've ever been sleeping somewhere other than home. I didn't know what to expect. I only chose to stay here because I was in Indy for work and didn't want to break the budget on an 8 day stay. I intend to come back this summer just for the experience, considering it's so close to all the attractions.

Review 21:One of the bathrooms smelled musky, but was clean. The other bathroom was perfectly fine. There were ants in the kitchen too, which is hard to control.

Review 22:Overall, the Hostel was inviting, quiet and a great price. Chelsea was a great resource. Access to a kitchen, fridge etc was a definite plus! Enjoyed the stay.

Review 23:The room was not very sound proof and the people across the hall were inconsiderate and noisy. I would however go back.

Review 24:The private room was comfortable and close to the shared bathroom.

Review 25:Worker seen we were a married couple should have explained more the accommodations dorm style different the only place stayed in dorm like this is a homeless shelter.

Review 26:Would be nice if some kind of breakfast was served as in other hostels but

Review 27:very homely

Review 28:N/a

Review 29:Loved is was close to public transportation, grocery store and restaurants. I enjoyed that the hostel was a house. Very confrontable.

Review 30:Family house, very good place

Review 31:Localization of hostel

Review 32:Parking on the street 49th st traffic speed over the limits posted. Need to be local enforcement on speeders.,

Review 33:First time shower was very busy.

Review 34:No breakfast.

Review 35:friendly environment, clean bathroom even it is shared with other people.

Review 36:Bed was noisy and very uncomfortable. Room had too much light coming through and floors creaked. Did not like location.

Review 37:The staff

Review 38:Bound bed is not tightly bounded

Review 39:Great staff

Review 40:Cheap, nice place, well set up

Review 41:It was pretty far away from downtown and the buses in the area weren't all that convenient. Taking a cab would be fine.

Review 42:The cosy feel and facilities were excellent. Staffs were friendly and nice.

Review 43:I am not fully convinced that the sheets were changed after the last stay. the shower was not properly cleaned, but you had access to cleaning solutions if you wanted so I did it myself.

Review 44:staff extremely cooperative and friendly. the price is extremely competitive. the room had access to 2 common bathrooms. also, the first floor, where all the common areas were, was cozy and comfortable. a bit hippy (in a good way).

Review 45:I love the atmosphere. The location was very easy to get to and the settings were very much to my liking. I would DEFINITELY stay again when given the chance.

Review 46:Loved my stay here. The staff were excellent-dead welcoming. I'm not the chattiest and keep to myself, but really was made to feel so at home. A real cozy, warm and friendly place to stay within easy reach of downtown.

Review 47:Room was smelt a bit damp and it was easy to hear other guests through the walls.

Review 48:Really friendly and helpful staff, good location near cool shops and restaurants, bikes to rent for a good price, not too far from the airport and nice atmosphere.

Review 49:Floors could have been a bit cleaner-a little uneasy walking barefoot, but the sheets and towels seemed fine. Walls in my room were paper thin and while I could hear everything from my neighbors,at least it was quiet after 10. My room wasn't as nice as those on the website, but OK.

Review 50:The location to Indy Fairgrounds--it's the closest place available. The price is in line with the accommodations. The staff was friendly and other guests were respectful of the shared areas and quiet hours. The neighborhood was a little rough, but I felt safe at Indy Hostel

Review 51:Great location in a cool neighborhood. Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere that was communal but still private. Great value (at least half the price of a comparable hotel room). Really cool place and great yard and common areas.

Review 52:It was a bit of a trek back and forth to downtown, and expensive whenyou take a taxi--$20.

Review 53:It was friendly, and good for those on a budget. Staff wasn't alwaysaround during the day.

Review 54:That it wasn't warmer outside to enjoy the patio and deck.

Review 55:Friendly Staff to help with any questions you have make you feel more like you are staying with family. Great Kitchen and have everything you need, Laundry at the hostel, with a grocery store, bars and restaurant a few blocks away. Easy to get to hostel from airport via bus, and good wifi signal.

Review 56:Bathroom was a little cold in temp, but used an extra heater provided by the staff

Review 57:Location, staff was available and willing to help at every turn, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom (common).

Review 58:knowing I cant stay longer

Review 59:It's like a home away from home

Review 60:The beds are hard and uncomfortable.
