Reviews for Stratosphere Hotel & Casino
Review 1:The fact that I had to wait for a security to unlock my room because my key was deactivated. And 30 mins for towels.
Review 2:That staff and the hotel was very comfortable. I love the fact that they give unlimited admission to the tower.
Review 3:The one thing I didn't like was the cigarette smoking everywhere.
Review 4:The Stratosphere is a great landmark. Always easy to find our way back to hotel. Elevators all worked and are very fast.
Review 5:Smell of tobacco smoke in most areas, no coffee making in the room, prices for basic items in the hotel shop VERY expensive like, two and half dollars for a small carton of milk! Since we last visited the hotel and tower are beginning to look shabby.
Review 6:That we couldn't make the trip longer .
Review 7:The deep bath tub was nice to relax in. The rooms were nice , clean and very comfortable . We enjoyed the tower elevator to observation deck being included with room and the tower stores were fun to visit. I would stay here again and invite others to stay here . Great room for great price .
Review 8:Property is run down things don't work and there is a lack of money spent on upgrading. It's not well run for example we thought we would look at New Years fireworks from the top of the car park but it was blocked off and we were never told so that was ruined. Just a sheet of paper in the lift would have done. Then they lie to us saying it's because people jump off. But they let them jump from the storey below if they wanted to. Pretty basic rooms. But I can't forgive being lied to when they ruined new year.
Review 9:Location was good. It's well away from the strip which could be a negative for some but we had a car. Fremont st and the canyons Hoover dam and old Route 66 are easier to access.
Review 10:The first morning the cleaning staff never came to clean our room even though we put a card to clean it on the door. We complained but it was extremely difficult to contact the cleaning staff. I was waiting on the phone for 10 to 15 minutes to speak with someone. The 50's restaurant has the worst service on the planet but the food was okay. The location is at the very end of the strip and it's a bit far to walk to other casinos.
Review 11:The internet was really fast. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was smoke free. The elevators were quick. The view at night was spectacular!!!
Review 12:My friends paid the same, but got a substandard room on a different floor that was dirty, poorly ventilated and unattended
Review 13:Our room was perfect and well maintained
Review 14:outdated rooms, noisy air con we couldnt heat up the room and sleep,
Review 15:Good location at the end of the strip, close to both downtown and other POI, nice restaurants, smart concept
Review 16:The security team was incompetent and aggressive: made a huge noise on the door next to mine because a wake up call was not answered. Called the Las Vegas Police to have us interrogated on electronic items we were carrying for CES exhibition. The bath was a mess. Fitness room with old facilities, some of them out of order.
Review 17:Convenient access to the parking. Free access to the tower.
Review 18:None at the hotel just with booking.com-the hotel never got our reservation that we booked with the booking.com(Priceline).
Review 19:The staff at the hotel was more accommodating than booking.com
Review 20:old a bit far from the main attractions outdated no amenities bit expensive for what it is although understand it was a busy weekend
Review 21:Large rooms but other than that it isn't a great hotel to stay at. The bar at the top of the tower is great
Review 22:really bad experience in this hotel, when we check in, I hv already ask them to refund the deposite and pay by my friend's card, and they agree but I found they didn't when we checked out. and the staff make the calculation wrong and is not responsible for the mistake caused by themselves, and also ask customer to pay for their mistake! never put their shoes in customers' feet, always said they have no solution. The facility is also very bad, some standard home applicance is missing.
Review 23:Staff was very unhelpful in my checking in process. I had to come back about an hour later and that person was very helpful. Also price was very high compared to what I was able to get the following night.
Review 24:Love the view from the stratosphere tower..
Review 25:Room cleaning service is terrible, one of the bed is always just remain unchange with no cleaning at hall, the water always stuck in the face washing sink
Review 26:location is the only thing i like
Review 27:Horrible place. Smells like feet. No room cleaning service in 4 daysalthough the sign was out every day. Weird sounds during the night. Ahooker next door at least twice. Dirty rooms. Feels like a huge ripoff...even for vegas.
Review 28:Not much
Review 29:The room has no microwave and refrigerator.
Review 30:My boyfriend and me stayed for 1 nigth and it was very great. We booked the room with the discount and it doesnt have hidden charges. The lobby staff who attended us was friendly and accommodating.
Review 31:Sounds a little petty but i hated the pillows. Affected my sleep.
Review 32:Staff were excellent, very understandable. Very helpful. Casino was brilliant, plenty of staff. Hotel was brilliant and our cleaner was very nice always smiling.
Review 33:Had to line up for about 40 mins to check in. Room was ready but we were 20 mins before 3pm so tried to charge us. This was on new years too. Poor customer service. No coffee in rooms either.
Review 34:Facilities were fairly good. Tower was cool.
Review 35:The staff was rude, overcharged me for the room. We waited in theregistration area for 20 mins bc one lady saw the line of ppl coming andwalked away. When I finally got to the front desk she was extremelyunpleasant! The manager had to come out and assist me. The bathroom sinkwas leaking, and the room was much smaller than the pic onlinesuggested. The food was terrible at Rory's diner. Then I had to callthe following week because they had double charged me in error. Worstexperience ever, I will never stay at this hotel again
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:The facilities are too old. And our room is on the fourth floor. The view of the window is nothing, just facing a wall. We lived on Dec.31, which cost more. Thus, I don't think that fee is worthy in view of that old facilities...
Review 38:As hotel guests we did not receive any promotions except for a 2 for 1 voucher which was limited to just one tower experience. The casino itself was very smokey and the smell lingered making our time there uncomfortable. Other casinos had people who were smoking, however it wasn't noticeable and smelt pleasant and neutral. Being on the north of the strip, the hotel is isolated, however with big new hotels being constructed nearby, this shouldn't be an issue in the future.
Review 39:Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. Amazing view of Las Vegas from the tower (have to pay for this).
Review 40:When we arrived,no help or even offer to assist with bags. Then we went to register. Booked a strip view room 2 months ago,but "not available."
Review 41:It would have been perfect to have an indoor pool!
Review 42:The room was nice with a lovely king size bed. Lots of places to eat and drink. The tower was amazing.
Review 43:Older hotel, maybe renovate rooms...occasionally not very "willing to help" staff...
Review 44:The view from restaurant and bar. Restaurants inside good. Especially Roxy's.
Review 45:Service was vey very poor no extra blankets coffee pots mini bar everything was short staffed and late...we ended up parking our own car and checking out we waited close to 40 minutes for bell service.... We booked this hotel because they promised us heated pool and the pool was freezing cold.... Room was pretty standard....casino was over bearing with smoke smells....it's better than motel 8 but not much more....30 minute walk to the strip and its the furthest hotel from the strip....
Review 46:Really nothing much....
Review 47:Roxy's, and McCall's (the first place I've ever had Johnny Walker 'Blue'!) were excellent venues for dining. I always enjoy the 108th floor lounge, as well. It's a great view. The valet staff was terrific, as were all employees. Overall, the Stratosphere is my favorite hotel in Vegas. Thank you to the entire establishment.
Review 48:The room was dirty, small, all the way at the end of the hall. I asked to change rooms, upgrade & was told by the manager they do no do same day room changes. Horrible experience
Review 49:The location
Review 50:Did not like that there was no room fridge. Did not like that it wasn't easy to access all the other hotels but we had a car so was easier for us but had we relied on public transport or walking it would have been hard in the winter cold. Were sold an upgrade room but it didn't appear renovated as they said but then I had nothing to compare it to. Cheap enough anyway that you can't really complain.
Review 51:The hotel is located at the very north of the strip and has the tower which gives it a major advantage that you can go up to the observation deck and look over the entire city.. do it in late afternoon and stay up there for dinner and see the night lights turn on. You can go on the rides too but not for the feint hearted. Has 24hr restaurants. Great free valet service but tips appropriate.
Review 52:The smokiness of the casino gave me a headache. I didn't sweep the room very well before checking out. Realized I had left Christmas presents and paperwork on the nightstand one hour after checking out. Called right then and left a message with security. They returned my call to let me know nothing had been turned in to them. I'm really hoping the cleaning staff (beds were yucky and food under bed) like what they found and kept! Because of this experience I will never frequent the Stratosphere again...
Review 53:The convenience of the hotels location. The front desk check in was simple and quick and they were very nice!
Review 54:Was not happy that I did not get the smoking room I reserved online 3 weeks in advance. Upon arriving when I questioned this I was told first come first get at registration desk!!!! What is the PURPOSE of a reservation for then????
Review 55:Friendly, helpful, and knowlegdable staff. Clean and orderly rooms. Location was good. Casino nice.
Review 56:room was decent but it did not have a coffee maker, guess they want you to spend big bucks at one of their coffee shops. did a little gambling and did not come out ahead. luckily i only dropped $60.
Review 57:The rooms are not updated maybe for the last 25 years. Hair in the bathroom from previous guest(s).
Review 58:Guest at the hotel can go free on the tower Stratosphere. The bus to the strip stop right by the side entrance. Nice buffet and restaurants.
Review 59:The location was not the best and the overall state of the hotel was outdated.
Review 60:The room was really quite nice and the staff we interacted with were also really friendly.
Review 61:I did not feel safe in the area- The food alley felt to me like a dying mall. The room I received had dust on the furniture and the Strip view, felt more like a view into the direction where the action of the Strip was.
Review 62:- Free entrance to the Observation Desk - ok fitness room
Review 63:There is no co relation between the pictures shown on promotion and the actual rooms given, also there is no use of paying an additional resort fees if one is still expected to buy tickets for all shows, it might be same policy all across the strip but if you truly want to give an excellent service then these things need to be addressed to.
Review 64:The food, pin up show and proximity to other activities.
Review 65:I had reserved the room in early November and asked for two doubles or queens. Upon check in none were available. That was very very upsetting.
Review 66:The location and amenities were great.
Review 67:I had to call the internet company twice, because I paid for the fast internet and did not receive the fastest. I tried, in vain, to contact room service for two days. Room Service had a busy signal for two days. I waited in line for 15 minutes for a slice of pizza. I got tired of waiting and left.
Review 68:The room was clean.
Review 69:- Maid did not read (or understand? but it was in two languages) the note I left on the bed saying not to make it. She also swapped out half of the towels in the bathroom (even though we didn't put any on the floor) -- why not all or none? - I booked the hotel for my family a month in advance, then had to change the dates two weeks in advance through Booking.com. However, the hotel apparently didn't make the change, which meant we had to wait for 30 minutes (with several little kids) while the hotel made new reservations (at different prices!). Luckily there were rooms available, but our three rooms were spread all across the floor. I contacted Booking.com and they said all the paperwork was in order, so it was the hotel's fault! - Randomly, there was a simulated evacuation drill on the main floor, but we weren't told it was a drill until after the alarms stopped! - You have to walk through the entire casino to get to the rooms -- but that's normal for Vegas! - My room were on the 7th floor, just below the wall, so there was no view (not that I cared -- the rooms were cheap!). But my brother's room had decent view, and higher up floors should have a great view of the city.
Review 70:- Location is great (not right on the Strip, but close). - Price is decent. - Free admission to the top of the Stratosphere is an awesome bonus! It's the only way we would have ever gone up there.
Review 71:No wi-fi connection I our room despite spending at least an hour on the phone with a technician, who finally gave up. My I-pad worked fine Outside the hotel. Long line ups for reception.
Review 72:I like being close to but not on the busy strip.
Review 73:VIP Check-in should be more helpful. As VIPs, all members deserve same attention & kindness.
Review 74:First of all, Mr. Mario was very helpful throughout our stay & took care of every single detail that we needed to be solved. So, half our booking grading belongs to him. The rooms were clean as always. Casino is the best in Vegas.
Review 75:Long check in. Rooms smells. Pool was closed. Shower wasn't cleaned properly. Furniture is old. Too many homeless around the hotel. Dangerous location.
Review 76:I liked the view from tower
Review 77:No jug or fridge in the room. Better laundry service
Review 78:- view - Thrill rides - pool - buffet - Discounts - price of accommodation - gym - TV channel all about the hotel
Review 79:The whole place reeked of smoke...even the nonsmoking floor we were on (to be fair the room didn't smell too bad). We got told on bookings.com it was 142$NZ but it ended up being $250NZ!
Review 80:Staff were very helpful. Great comfortable bed. Very clean rooms. And nice a close to the monorail. Great halfway point between strip and downtown.
Review 81:Only 2 gripes were no in room microwaves... so many places to eat of course you want to bring something back - but where do you heat it up? And - my lovely view of the parking garage in a select room -_-;
Review 82:I like that it was removed enough from the hustle and bustle of the strip without being too far away from it.
Review 83:It was a nightmare. When we go to our room, we had no blankets, not enough towels, no coffeepot, no refrigeration for my medicine, as I had requested, TV did not work well, view was terrible. No one had picked up trach. We were ready to go home.
Review 84:The location.
Review 85:Our room was at non smoking floor, but we didn't feel it. The smell of cigarettes was terrible, as if someone was smoking in the next room or down floor or it was from AC.
Review 86:Very poor internet connection; far from main attraction of the Strip.
Review 87:Clean, spatial and comfortable rooms; :) free paring, shop and other services on spot :) free entrance to the tower!
Review 88:Walking down 11 flights of stairs for a fire evacuation.
Review 89:Room was acceptable, in fair shape and clean. Fairly quiet with good access to elevators from oversized vehicle parking lot (which was not monitored by security, by what we could tell).
Review 90:Even though we booked non smoking rooms, we got a smoking rooms the first night. The smoking room smelled totally disgusting! We did get new rooms the following night though.
Review 91:Free entrance to the tower.
Review 92:We were promised a room at the tower but no view from there of the strip, the room had no lights and was dirty and did not expect it from a hotel like it.
Review 93:Just the name Stratosphere,
Review 94:The hotel is smoke drenched! It is disgusting. Our clothes, hair and luggage smelled terrible. We specifically asked for non smoking facilities and the rude lady at reception made us pay $25 per night extra to have a renovated room in a non smoking area. This helped nothing as you still have to walk through a smoke drenched casino to get to the lifts to get to the hotel rooms!! When my wife phoned reception to ask if there is another entrance that we can use to avoid the horrible smells, she was rudely told: "NO,this is Vegas, we cater for smokers!" When she told the lady that we are guests too and that we were very annoyed and disappointed, she chucked the phone down in my wife's ear. Needless to say, because my wife is allergic to smoke, she was sneezing all the time and ended up with a horrible chest infection. The rest of our vacation was spoiled as my wife was in bed from guest house to guest house for ten days before we took on the 28 hour flight back home. If you are a non-smoker, the Stratosphere is NOT for you! They should not advertise non smoking rooms as this a FALSE.
Review 95:The room lacked comfort. The decor, bed and over all feel of the room was not inviting. I checked in very late and left early and moved to a different hotel.
Review 96:I wish I had gotten the name of the person who checked me in because she was AMAZING. So kind and friendly and really took the time to answer my questions.
Review 97:The room was clean, but looked very dated. I expected a lot more from a Vegas hotel on the strip.
Review 98:Staff were friendly. Check out is easy - they have express check outs. Making a reservation at the Top of the World Restaurant was very easy - I called from our hotel room, and the guy booking us in was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Review 99:view of the parking lot. annoying: people constantly hustling to buy "time shares" in Vegas. quite at the end of the Vegas strip - so a lot of walking and driving has to be done still...
Review 100:great interior. comfortable. a deal for upgrading to a jacuzzi room for military personnel.
Review 101:Excellant hotel, friendly staff who helped our stay a trouble free experience. Superb view from the top of the tower with, if you dare, four adrenalin rush thrills to have a go at.
Review 102:1:00 AM vacuuming and cleaning the room next door, with loud conversations in Spanish right outside our door! Bed was not comfortable, too hard.
Review 103:Nice looking room, shopping reasonably priced, delicious restaurants . Casino easy to navigate, very nice floor personnel when I had a slot machine malfunction
Review 104:Casino was too smoky to hang out and gamble, tub and sink in room would barely drain, only one of the four elevators would go to the retail floor
Review 105:Food was better than average, valet personnel were professional and very helpful. View from the tower was awesome.
Review 106:No option to open windows, ultra far distances from parking to room + you to pass the casino to get to your room, long waiting by check in-out
Review 107:Clean, free parking, wifi, free entrance to stratosphere tower if you're guest of the hotel!
Review 108:Serious lack of cocktail waitresses on the casino floor - made us gamble elsewhere. A bit out in no-mans-land re: position from strip hotels but we just used the Deuce bus.
Review 109:Comfy Room for the price. Roxy's Diner is FAB. Self-parking easy to find and convenient (no walking miles to get to the casino/hotel)
Review 110:Got no sleep due to the guest nex door! They were loud and and very vulgar in language . We ate at the steak house and the food was terrible and to expensive .
Review 111:But after I went to the others cassinos, i did not like stratosphere as much.
Review 112:It was my first experience with a cassino, so it was ok. the shower was good as well as the bed.
Review 113:The wall in our room was paper thin, we could hear everything in the other room from the couple's conversation, sex and even every time they went to the toilet. We may aswell have shared a room. Vomit type substance bubbles up through the sink on our room. No fridge or wardrobe in the room. When the room was cleaned the rubbish was left, only bedclothes were serviced. The was some maintenence work being dobe outside our room which also had a warning saying infectious substance, would have liked if the maintenance zone was covered up while work wasn't being done.
Review 114:The hotel and casino itself were fairly quiet and comfortable to be around when other casinos were too busy and loud.
Review 115:House keeping stuff came into our room around 9am without nocking to doors while we were still sleeping.
Review 116:Good location around 5 min away from Strip by car. For residents access to tower and swimming pool for free.
Review 117:Staff not helpful at all. Rooms were old until we complained. We were put on hold for at least 30 min every time we called reception. No hot water on one day.
Review 118:We made our reservations online, a couple months in advance, and werecharged the full amount ($122.50) immediately. I asked for an upgrade toour room because we found a better price($89) for the same room on theday of check-in, but were told that there would be a ($15) upcharge foran upgrade to the room. Then they charged us another $23.95 at check-in..apparently a "resort fee". The tv wasn't working whenwe arrived. The room was across from stairs and elevators and nestledbetween two "Staff Workrooms". We had a lovely view of theAC/Heat system and the powerful spotlights which shone all night. The staff, elevators, light, and heavy foot traffic noise did not allowus to sleep that night. We stay at hotels on the average of 10-15 timesa year and have never encountered such a poor quality room, even in lessexpensive hotels. It was my husband's first visit to Las Vegas andhe was not impressed. The tower costs $20 just to go up. The advertised"Buffett" was closed for remodeling, as was the Swimming Pool.Stay somewhere else!
Review 119:Loved Roxy's Diner
Review 120:We had a problem with heater, the room was very cold in our staying. It was not possible to have a fresh air at smokable rooms floor, the air conditioner did not working properly.
Review 121:The hotel has a very nice tower that all about the hotel.
Review 122:The room we had reserved was a non smoking room, (looked nothing like the picture) and the whole floor smelled like marajuana! So bad it made me gag! When we told the front desk they said we we upgrade to a new room and floor if we paid $20 more a night :( I had to do it just so my wedding dress and so we didn't smell like dope...
Review 123:We loved the amount of things to do that was available at the stratosphere alone! We had our first dance as a married couple at roxys diner!
Review 124:Room is really basic. I expected a bit more Located at the end of the strips. It's not a problem since we drive.
Review 125:Access to rooftop bar and 50% off pin up show. Too bad we dont drink and can't see the show either
Review 126:Two older men at the reception were not very helpful when I queried my room and on the second occasion when my key would not work...Quite rude actually. Meant to put a complaint in at the time but decided not worth it. Have stayed here on 3 occasions and had the same problem the previous year about a key with one of these men.
Review 127:Love the location as it's not in the heart of everything but just a short bus trip down the strip so you can have best of both worlds. The bus is very reasonably priced aswell.
Review 128:Everything was pretty much fine, except that we were given smoking rooms even while our booking was non-smoking.
Review 129:The view from the tower is fantastic. It's worth staying here and going to the tower. Casino tables for black jack started at $5.
Review 130:Room interior was quite poor. Strong draught from the window that was cold and noisy. Long walk to the central attractions.
Review 131:Free pass to the tower for hotel guests is a really big advantage, great panoramic view definitely worth seeing. Very nice casino. Good buffet for money.
Review 132:mattress had no firmness and you can hear the springs, bathroom door squeaked, fan in bathroom rattled loudly. plus you can't turn it off because it's on the switch that turns lights on, sticky shipping tape mark on end table, stop in bathroom sink stuck so water wouldn't empty, can hear flushing next door, heater had musty smell when first turned on, then an alarm went off. pulled plug on that one.
Review 133:location was decent at the south end of the strip. price was tolerable for a budget hotel.
Review 134:Location is very poor. Its like 3 miles to get to Bellagio which is the kinda center of the Strip. So either you can take uber for 15$ or walk an hour.Room was terrible. Very old with a view of some concrete roof.personel claimed that there was no other - but it was only thursday- not to many People and next day so many new people Come and they got much better rooms! Price was not adequate to the standard. And no. Im not trying to be picky. We stayed in much worst places but the description was more accurate so i knew what to expect.
Review 135:I did expect much more reading all the reviews
Review 136:Far away from the strip, poor casino, and a pretty lackluster bar. Wasn't particularly clean either.
Review 137:Rides were a fun novelty, and the staff were nice enough
Review 138:Bus stops - in front of hotel; Mcdo, local diners available inside the hotel; if you like to have a day trip to Grand Canyon, there is a pick-up service from the hotel buffet area
