Reviews for El Bonita Motel
Review 1:The owners have decorated small rooms very professionally with excellent taste and they feel much larger than they are. Shows a lot of personal attention to detail.
Review 2:Tad on the pricey side for a motel, but worth it :)
Review 3:Great location, beautiful little rooms and lovely pool! Also really good wifi and channel selection on tv!
Review 4:We scheduled a king sized bed/room, which was given to someone else, and we were given a queen room instead...on the major roadway. As a result, we got about 2 hours of sleep due to the construction and road noise. Also the sheets in our initial room were stained/dirty.
Review 5:The Staff were friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfast was nice. Also the staff moved us to another room, when we requested it.
Review 6:Staff attitude - so hard for them to smile and give a warm welcome/goodbye. Breakfast was okay - good be better quality.
Review 7:Good location for the wineries we had booked in for. Small pool, plenty of car parking, clean rooms.
Review 8:Beautiful grounds. Nice big room with useful kitchenette. Friendly staff. Quiet. Close to downtown St. Helena with restaraunts and cool shops, and of course wineries.
Review 9:very basic breakfast
Review 10:good motel with spacious rooms, good beds, clean bathrooms nice surrounding for having a bottle of wine in the open air in the evening
Review 11:Our room was in the back and very quiet. There are a few rooms close to Hwy 29 -- I don't know if they are as quiet. Guests might want to request a room in the back, but if unavailable go ahead and try one in the front.
Review 12:Convenient location with nice accommodations.
Review 13:None
Review 14:Great little motel right in the middle of wine country. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Well decorated room, comfortable bed, good free breakfast. Some may say that it's located on a main road and a little noisy, but we had no issues. Great place to stay!
Review 15:Good & convenient location; clean, comfortable, and very nice rooms; with friendly staff. We were even allowed to check out late without additional cost.
Review 16:Noisy air conditioner and I think they need to grade on their pastries for breakfast you some of the locals
Review 17:Love the idea to pull the car right up front of your room and the closeness to the downtown
Review 18:The location, the location, the location. I've been staying at the El Bonita since the 70's...The prices have gone way up, but still a value in the valley. I love the upkeep and the change in the rooms over the years!
Review 19:The ants crawling around on the kitchen and bathroom floors made our stay uncomfortable. When we checked out, the people in charge told my husband that they would note it.....really?
Review 20:location was farther from downtown than I wanted, but as soon as the road construction is finished, will feel closer
Review 21:Staff, breakfast and backyard garden area were excellent!
Review 22:Breakfast was very poor, staff was not too helpful. Being in the wine region, staff knew nothing about the wineries!!! Currently area has a lot of street construction and traffic.
Review 23:Big comfortable room, great bath, great location!
Review 24:Carpet needed cleaning. Spots on bedspread. If these two items were clean, I would have given it an excellent rating.
Review 25:The neon sign; straight out of the 40's. A nice room with very comfortable bed. Nice continental breakfast.
Review 26:Nice, clean, comfortable, affordable, updated motel. Free parking, no "resort fees". What you see is what you get; a clean updated, affordable place to sleep.
Review 27:The water in St. Helena is absolutely terrible. Bring your own or buy bottled water. I vomited after taking two drinks. It was full of chlorine and sulphur. Really inexpensive rooms in the front are cramped and noisy.
Review 28:Our room was large, private, and roomy. The bed was exceptionally good and comfortable. The motel is very close to St. Helena so one is in the middle of everything in the Napa wine country. It is the only place that has reasonable rates in this area.
Review 29:Lack of a vending machine for a quick snack late on after a few to many drinks!
Review 30:Rooms are large and beds are very comfy. Great place to take in 5 or 6 of the Vineyards featured on the map of the area which is sold in most of them.
Review 31:I had a hard time accessing their wireless due to double log-in, but I think this was an issue with my computer rather than their wireless.
Review 32:Great location, within walking/short driving distance of several excellent wineries and restaurants. Clean rooms Quiet
Review 33:The Keurig cofee pot was nuice..except it didn't brew hot coffee...just cold coffee. Had to heat it up in the microwave. Got the pin up from the door lock..but couldn't the patio door open.Safety lock on front door broken.
Review 34:Glad you had a room...very bust this weekend. Room nice..good kitchenette. Wine glasses were a nice touch(with an opener too). Breakfast was good..would have been nice to have something hot besides coffee. Glad we were in the Homestead section...far from the road noise.
Review 35:Free breakfast could be better , coffee was better inside the rooms than the brewed at breakfast downstairs -- cold and no taste sorry
Review 36:Size of room and bed comfort and clean
Review 37:The breakfast is truly a continental, so if you want something more substantial take a stroll up the street to one of the many cafes.
Review 38:There is nowhere in Napa Valley you can stay for this quality and price.
Review 39:Furnishings were beautiful and fit the quaint town. Looked newly remodeled - the bathroom was beautiful and extremely clean. The bed was very comfortable!
Review 40:Close to the road.
Review 41:We like the best price-quality ratio. Everything is clean . You find everything you need for short stay including breakfast. Nice outdoor pool , sauna and jacuzzi. Staff is very friendly. Cozy but nice rooms.
Review 42:The bed was a little creeky probably due to the frame which may make it hard for light sleepers.
Review 43:I loved the parklike setting and the roominess of the room. Nice bathroom and kitchen. Close to restaurant. Continental breakfast, and nice TV. Nice office people, housekeeping and grounds staff. Comfy beds.
Review 44:Location just 8 minutes' walk from St Helena, (Napa Valley gem of a town), Parking. Wonderful room (queen size) and very friendly staff, nice breakfast, wifi works well, great location for upper valley wine (Oakville, Rutherford, Yountville and Calistoga).
Review 45:Front desk help was very rude and unpleasant both upon check-in and departure. Did not make us feel welcome!! Not engaging with the customer at all!! Very uncomfortable! For that reason alone , I would not book here again!
Review 46:Centrally located. Quiet, nice grounds
Review 47:The only thing we are not crazy about is the front desk staff. It seems as if every time we visit they are less than friendly and helpful. The outside staff is always friendly though.
Review 48:We have been visiting for years, with and without pets and in general love El Bonita.
Review 49:Stayed several times, usually with husband.Came with sister and older daughter this time was great...no complaints
Review 50:nice room .......#20 nice kitchen bathroom and beds comfy.....Very clean
Review 51:We stayed in room 16.. right on Main street....about 75 feet from highway. The traffic and big trucks were on the highway ALL NIGHT LONG! So horribly noisey. Couldnt sleep at all. Terrible experience.
Review 52:The grounds were nice out back.
Review 53:The close proximity to the highway. It's pretty darn loud, you had better bring ear plugs, especially if you are in the last 4-5 rooms closest to the highway.
Review 54:The location of the property is right in the middle of Napa Valley. Has a great clean look and feel and is very comfortable, great value for the $$, keeping in mind of course this is not a 4-star resort...it's a great place to park, sleep and take a swim.
Review 55:Pool was dirty and spa was cold. But this off season end of Dec. Weather wasn't pool friendly but would have been nice to use the spa.
Review 56:Room was nice, awesome touch of hair dryer, cork screw and vine glasses in room. Larger rooms available including kitchenette. Would be good place for families with kids.
Review 57:One bed had broken springs. Figured staff would have reported it. No bathroom storage. Counter is very small.Never did make connect with wifi. Used local restaurant.
Review 58:Easy access to north Napa valley. Friendly staff. Good kitchen facilities, bath/shower.
Review 59:Liked it all!!
Review 60:Charming property, good location in St. Helena. Beds were very comfy!! Towels very soft. Rooms look to be recently updated. Keurig coffee in rooms. Excellent value for the very reasonable price! Stay here!!
Review 61:Not a direct criticism of the motel, but St Helena doesn't stay up late - don't head out after 9:30pm and hope to find food!
Review 62:Huge room, nice touch with hotel-branded wine glasses in the room to allow you to sample recent purchases, helpful owner. The motel is close enough to a few wineries that you can walk and do tastings, so no-one has to drive, albeit still a short walk into St Helena itself.
Review 63:There was an issue with the gas lines so my shower was luke warm and it was cold outside :( The breakfast was just very minimal.
Review 64:The room was clean and quiet
Review 65:The lessor price rooms at the front are a bit noise-ee since they are close to a heavily traveled road. And that heavily traveled road can be a challenge to pull out on. St. Helena should keep the speed limit lower a little further South of town which would help tremendously. Lined draperies could help too.
Review 66:Great central location. Clean rooms. Good price. Nice pool.
Review 67:The rooms are very small and need updating.
Review 68:Outside around the pool was beautiful. Heated pool, like walking into a bath. The location is ideal. The continental breakfast was more then adequite. Clean rooms but need refurbish.
Review 69:Wifi signal was very poor in our room. Breakfast takes place in the reception sofas, not even in a table and coffee is quite bad
Review 70:Location was excellent. Good value for money in an expensive area
Review 71:Although there was no placard placed on the door, the maids went in and removed our towels which were still being used.
Review 72:The convenience of continental breakfast.
Review 73:breakfast is pool, AC is a bit noisy
Review 74:the pool is clean big, and not much ppl. the parking is spacious, location is perfect, though you need to specify to have a room not facing the highway
Review 75:Finding comfortable, affordable pet friendly hotels in Napa Valley is difficult. We were pleasantly surprised to see how nice the El Bonita is - contemporary furnishings and super comfortable beds. The location is a reasonable walk to town (St Helena), though a short section doesn't have sidewalks or street lights. Will stay there again!
Review 76:Breakfast choices. Staff at check-out not friendly at all. Lots of leaves, etc., never blown off or grounds mowed. Maintenance issues like faucet in bathroom lose; door lock missing on top part of door.
Review 77:Comfortable bed. Clean. Room cleaned every day. Staff at check-in was great.
Review 78:The rowdiness after hours in the pool area.
Review 79:The cost was very reasonable. The room was exactly what we expected, small but clean, comfortable and updated.
Review 80:Breakfast was continental but lacking a toaster. Otherwise for the money perfectly acceptable
Review 81:Very clean and large room. Asked for high quiet room as Motel is on the main road and we we're given room 44B at the rear which was perfect
Review 82:The proximity to highway--there was a little bit of roadnoise.
Review 83:Shutters on the windows made the room appealing and private. The mural on the headboard was quaint and gave the room personality. Nice comfortable room for a reasonable price in this area of expensive lodging.
Review 84:The beds are a bit firm but better than too soft, but' they need softer pillows. No more yogurt in the morning for breakfast. Sometimes road noise is heavy if you are in the poolside rooms but still a good value! Sometimes noisy guests but hotel can't control that.
Review 85:The rooms are clean and spacious. Good value for the money. Breakfast is minimal but adequate! Awesome location.
Review 86:I had to go borrow a fly swatter from the front desk so I could sleep. Incessant little buggers. Came back after dinner and more were there to greet me.
Review 87:Convenience to St Helena and Napa Valley
Review 88:The breakfast that was included was not so good. Also the road noise was pretty constant.
Review 89:Comfortable bed with fridge and microwave. Close to all the wineries we wanted to go to.
Review 90:Staff was polite but not friendly.
Review 91:Great setting, clean & spacious room. We got an upgraded room, so it was more than perfect for three travelers. Location is only half a mile from town, so we walked everywhere.
Review 92:El Bonita is cosy and intimate. Rooms are clean and with complementary wine-opener - a good thing in Napa :-) During 3 weeks we tried out a lot of hotels in West US. El Bonita is one of the best - No Motel "feeling" - definitely a nice Hotel
Review 93:The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. Some days they had yogurt some not. No microwave to heat roles. Some other guest said it used to be a great breakfast with eggs.
Review 94:Clean, great location, and a good value.
Review 95:Much nicer than I remembered. Great value for inexpensive Napa accommodations.
Review 96:Too far to walk into St Helena along the main road
Review 97:Easy to park the car. Lovely spacious room.
Review 98:Heater was noisy.
Review 99:Nice large room, real coffee cups and wine glasses, kitchen, and comfortable bed.

Review 102:A very pleasant room in a quaint location enhanced by friendly staff and a very nice Continental Breakfast served in the lobby.
Review 103:enjoy the convenience of in and out of room. Loved the jacuzzi. Cute, older, yet clean and comfortable.
Review 104:Maid was cleaning the room another 15/20 minutes
Review 105:Price and breakfast
Review 106:Room shave recently been upgraded but trim and exterior in need of paint upgrade also
Review 107:Best value in Napa area. Homewood suites inn rear are the best.
Review 108:Quiet, clean room; great location
Review 109:Cozy and somewhat reasonable for this area and times without minimum stay ....
Review 110:Housekeeping shouldn't be so skimpy with soap and other bathroom products.
Review 111:1) room size, 2) pool, jacuzzi area.
Review 112:Quaint, clean, pool, hot tub.
Review 113:The breakfast was very weak.
Review 114:Location was great.... Very clean.
Review 115:Location. Spacious room. Exclellent facilities in room. Cleanliness and comfort.
Review 116:you can walk to town, but the road is dangerous, be careful!
Review 117:cute, comfy room really close to town
Review 118:price, location, swimming pool
Review 119:Slow wifi
Review 120:Friendly Staff. NIce Lay out. Close to town an winery.
Review 121:The beds were lumpy
Review 122:The location was awsome
Review 123:It is a good value for the area, you can walk to downtown, it has a nice pool/spa area
Review 124:Front deck staff excellent: knowledgeable, went out of their way to be helpful. Excellent service.

Review 126:Room was quite small.
Review 127:Nice pool/spa and courtyard area. Rooms had all of the essentials.
