Reviews for Lookout Lodge Resort
Review 1:Room had cockroaches. Room next to us had a large dog that barked at all times. Had to ask for a coffee pot for the room and received it filthy and with no lid. Parking lot under construction and a total mess! Water was shut off for a while hile to the room. Shower and curtain was dirty and stained. Had to clean the shower down before using it. I felt under these circumstances the room was priced to high! No veiw of water only tore up parking lot. No room to turn around and broke out back window in van on the cement step of the building and no offer to help with cost or discount on stay. The appliances were old and rusty and stained
Review 2:Separate bedrooms for children. Access to beach
Review 3:The people in the next room partied until 1:30 AM making far too much noise and keeping me awake. A manager on-site to control the situation would've been nice.
Review 4:I liked being on the water.
Review 5:They didn't inform us that remodeling was going on so we had to endure jackhammering, banging noises it was a terrible but mostly it was an afternoon and we were not in the room. Worst thing about the trip later Roaches that were in the room and the fact that after I inform them of that I had to go out buy bug spray because the owner never even offered to buy the spray. He offered me $100 gift certificate for the next time I come which actually I probably will not because there are a lot of other places in the keys that care about their guests a bend over backwardsti make you happy but they chose not to.
Review 6:The grounds were gorgeous, the private lagoon even though it's beautiful was full ocean sea weed and grass and staff never removed it so it was difficult to use. Monday night just me and my wife and one other couple there and they acted like nobody was staying they didn't turn on the night lights nor the lagoon lights.
Review 7:The room was need of a makeover and some bleach. Mold in the bathroom and a mattress that should have been replaced sometime ago.
Review 8:Great location... Between KeyLargo and Marathon, especially if you plan to fish.
Review 9:We had a bit of a tv remote issue but thats Comcast problem not the resort! They were supper helpful resolving the issues! Also had a bit of a tiny bug issue, the staff was very helpful!
Review 10:Location and scenery was awesome , Staff hospitality was on point!
Review 11:Not a resort as advertised but a collection of 8 ancient rooms. No pool, restaurant, access to beach. No hot water for over a day and worst of all ROACHES in kitchen cabinets and bathroom.
Review 12:The is a very quaint hotel. The room had been painted a soothing color and although small (it was a studio and only room available) it had a full size fridge, microwave, sink, dishes etc. We loved laying in the hammock at night and just relaxing and the view was beautiul. It was convienent to have the agreement with the restaurant and beach access next door. Overall we loved it.
Review 13:Gentleman who ran the place was a right misery but saying that he did his job but no smile
Review 14:Place is fantastic clean comfortable view is great idea fir trips up and down. Keys
Review 15:Mattresses were memory foam type. Could feel outline of previous sleeper.
Review 16:Right on the water. Beautiful sunsets. Great restaurant next door...Market 88. Very nice staff.
Review 17:Not really what I would call a resort. No pool or restaurant on site. Great restaurant next door. Rooms in need of updating.
Review 18:Was unsure at first, but ended up really liking the place. Great beach area with lots of loungers and shade if you want. You can get into the water pretty easily.
Review 19:The room was in need of some updating. The carpet was frayed in spots, no counter space in the bathroom and the front door needed adjusting as it made a loud sound when being closed. Parking is not always available in the evenings as patrons from next door restaurant used lot for overflow.
Review 20:The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Public beach next door as well as a restaurant with outdoor seating and live music.
Review 21:for the Keys this hôtel is affordable but should be restaured especially the bathroom is really old and not so clean. The carpet needs to be removed too!
Review 22:This hotel is well located near a little beach really nice and easy to swim for children. Close to Robbies place where you can go kayaking in the mangrove, beautiful. There is no restaurant but you can eat ans drink on the wood tables of the hotel. The staff is really nice.
Review 23:We did not get the room we ordered with a view. But fortunately the surroundings outside were just perfect.
Review 24:The location is one of the best for sunset views. The gas grill made cooking easy and we stayed more outside than in our room during our stay. The carpet in the room should be replaced by tiles, much easier to keep clean.
Review 25:The bathroom atrocious and dirty. Stray hairs ,dirty walls and tile. VERY small shower with dirty tile-yuck!
Review 26:The location was nice and the staff friendly and helpful.
Review 27:I would recommend updating TV and beds: room look..decorate to time it was built..retro! The drapes need to be changed definitely to black out since patio light stays on all night.
Review 28:The quaint atmosphere, old school charm right on water.Nice outside bar/ restaurant next to property. The staff was amazing...very nice! The grounds were very clean with BBQs.
Review 29:I asked for a room with a kitchen, we were given a room with no cooking sufface, upon check out was told we could have used a cook top. I asked for a room with a view of the water--I was ignored. The mattress are cheap mattresses with foam tied on them. The room we had was not the size of a studio, it was small hotel room with a large refrigerator in it.
Review 30:The ocean view/beach was beautiful, grill for cooking was clean, the Tiki Huts were cute, the night tourches were beautiful. I like the outside area.
Review 31:Everything. The back is a beautiful spot to relax, eat your meals, sunbath, or listen to music under the stars with a glass of wine. Very peaceful, the location is close to everything, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful, we will be back.
Review 32:Beds have tempurpedic mattresses! They are great for the back! They also had a Keurig coffeemaker in the room! They have boat dockage! Great outdoor relaxing area by water!
Review 33:Road noise was so loud that I was wakened several times each night, even with windows firmly shut. Our room was part of the two bedroom suite closest to the road. Only one burner works on the cooktop and kitchen not equipped with enough basic dishes, cutlery, drinkware for 4 people. A kitchen upgrade would go a long way to improving this accommodation.
Review 34:Beds were very comfortable. Excellent location beside Mile Marker 88 restaurant and bar. Small beach immediately next door. Very nice sitting area right on the waterfront.
Review 35:Old! Not worth the money spent. Suppose to be a deal. Terrible. No hot water in sinks. Bathroom old. Did not even take a shower. Glad only stayed 1 night. Toilet was tilted back! Tile in bathroom awful. Room was next to highway. US1!! Traffic heard all night. The entire place needs update! Would never stay again unless remodele felt like 1970!!
Review 36:This is an older property, so don't expect marble vanities. It is clean.
Review 37:Beautiful views, walking distance to restuarants, friendly and helpful staff and the price is reasonable.
Review 38:Room was not ready until an hour and half after check in time. Plastic sheet under linen. Mattress way to soft. Bathroom size of closet, tile floors uneven. Mirror wavie, as if from arcade.
Review 39:Location
Review 40:Room we had was furthest from the water, with no view.Right next to us1.Room was dated, and although they ask that you wash dishes, did not havea dishwasher. They do have at least a couple of one br suites, that arevery nice with screened in porches with a great view.WF And phoneservice very spotty.
Review 41:Nice beach area, and friendly staff.Beds were comfortable.
Review 42:Air conditioning was stinky(dead skunk smell). Thankfully, the evening weather was almost cool enough that we didn't need it. Air conditioner needs some serious cleaning.
Review 43:Good base for exploring other areas in the keys. Nice waterfront area for catching the sunsets.
Review 44:The room was not that clean, and not that comfortable but fairly OK for the price.
Review 45:It is a good location, the staff was very friendly and gave good recommendations on activities nearby and the view is just amazing!
Review 46:Small property (8 units) No pool or beach. There was a small public beach next door. No elevators
Review 47:Nice location for Sun set viewing You can walk to Marker 88 restaurant.
Review 48:The batheroom was small and clearly from a time when pink and blue tile were in. There were a few spots that had been repaired but everything worked. The room was similar in terms of being dated but it was functional and generally OK, not great, but certainly OK. Since we only slept there at night and were out most of the time, it worked well.
Review 49:We liked the location and the general condition of the hotel for the money. It seemed to be priced competitively. The outdoor facilities were nice. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The staff (Greg) was great! It's not a 5 star hotel nor is it intended to be. Its a small likable hotel intended as a place to put your stuff while you play in the keys. For that it is on target.
Review 50:Room , Bath TV and Kitchen were very old. Bed Sheet and pilowcases were not clean and smelling bad. the colour of them were almost yellow.
Review 51:Sea and Sand. Staff were helpful and polite. parking place was good, under the trees
Review 52:The "private beach" really was not much of a beach, we discovered that the little beach near the motel actually belonged to the restaurant next door. Lookout had a set of steps leading into the water but they were slippery and the water was full of weeds etc. Also, wifi was very spotty and my iPad kept dropping the network. However neither of these issues really impeded the pleasure we got from our stay there. I would still not hesitate to recommend Lookout to anyone.
Review 53:This was not our first stay at Lookout, I've been there a total of four times. My husband and I got married in Key Largo on Labor Day 2014 and wanted to include a few days in Islamorada during our honeymoon, thus the return trip. Kitchen had been updated since last we stayed there, to include a full set of cookware and Keurig coffeepot with complimentary coffee and cream and sugar packets. The staff is very congenial and the place itself is beautiful and well kept. The outdoor area and the view of the sunset is one of the best in the area in my opinion. We were out there every morning and evening during our stay and the pleasure we got from those times was beyond compare. Lookout Lodge is a wonderful place to relax in the tropics.
Review 54:no real complaints. the toilet was a little loose
Review 55:The hotel had a private beach, bbq, great room. we couldnt ask for more for our long weekend getaway.
Review 56:Skimpy on kitchen stuff....no small sauce pots, 2 fry pans (one which needed to be thrown away), utensils included ONE spatula, thats all.
Review 57:Staff was very courteous and friendly.

Review 68:Would have really enjoyed a swimming pool for us "old folks"
Review 69:Nice location. View was fantastic. Would stay again. Property was beautiful.
Review 70:I like a harder bed but still slept fine.
Review 71:I loved the location and the staff being so helpful and friendly.
Review 72:Bedding was bad. Shower curtain was deplorable. Toilet "rocked". Carpeting was dingy.
Review 73:Private little hideaway with beach, marina, and sunsets over the ocean. Couldn't be happier with our great little value package! Relaxing!
Review 74:Great location and awesome sunsets
Review 75:Friendly staff, great sunsets, handy for nearby restaurants, nice room with a gulf view

Review 86:Location good. Clean rooms. Good people. We would return.
Review 87:Toilet seat too small Small room Noisy tenants
Review 88:Views from the back of property Sandy rest area Grills
Review 89:The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room facing the bay was spacious and comfortable and I had free wi-fi
Review 90:I will like the beach on the back with sand , it is nice but I imagine much better if the put some white sand .
Review 91:very nice view and really quite place, love the location and easy to move around from all the keys.
Review 92:Loved cooking out our fresh caught fish and relaxing every night on their beautiful patio watching the sunset. Greg and the entire staff were most helpful and friendly ( Go Gators! )
Review 93:We knew the rooms were outdated by the reviews. It was an understatement. A few inexpensive changes would make a big difference. Like new table cloth, faucet handles in bathroom, paint doors. The beds were very soft, but the staff put a board under the mattress. Found out from a staff member can get a better rate by booking direct.
Review 94:The Staff was excellent. The outside patio on the water was nice. The resort is in a decent location location next to Mile Marker 88 restaurant (get 10% off food). We checked out on time and stayed at the property for the entire day enjoying the gulf breeze and beautiful sunsets. Good value.
Review 95:old beds, dated decor in room, a bit damp in room.
Review 96:Location, location - attentive, pleasant staff. Comfortable waterfront which is nicely maintained. Restaurant and beach next door.
Review 97:A priority should be to remove the carpet which was very stained. All tile is much cleaner. The draperies could be removed and blinds be installed. Those two things would greatly improve the room which was clean and comfortable otherwise. Also, we had a private patio which was nice. Not all rooms have patios; we didn't use ours much because of the smoker next door who was also using his/her patio. The rooms are non-smoking; perhaps non-smoking should also apply to the private patios. Some of us get headaches from cigarette smoke, which seems to be especially penetrating outside. Go figure, but it's true. Thanks for considering these items. If these improvements were made, I would recommend this lodging to others.
Review 98:It was hard to rate this lodging because the grounds were very well-maintained and very nice, but the rooms needed some TLC and brightening up. We had access to a small beach next door. A tiki bar/restaurant next door and an organic juice bar across the street were pluses.
Review 99:Can't think of anything for this column.
Review 100:The room was well sized for our family, clean and comfortable. We especially liked sitting on the beach enjoying the breeze and swimming. We also like the Green Hotel certification. We had some very good recommendations of activities from the staff that we appreciated.
Review 101:Nothing.....
Review 102:Brilliant location.. Rooms comfy... Did'nt want to leave
Review 103:Thin walls and close to highway were rather noisy. Neighbors partied loudly until 6am. No pool.

Review 106:out door area
Review 107:Small and not to busy with nice location and shoreline.
Review 108:NOTHING
Review 109:THE OUTSIDE AREA/PATIO AREA ON THE WATER AND GRT AMENITIES
Review 110:I missed my soft bed.
