Reviews for The Admiral Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

Review 1:Mini-fridge listed as an amenity was not in the room. Parking deck is not connected to the hotel and there is no covered walkover between them. Be aware if you need to pop out to your car in the rain. Breakfast service in the restaurant was lacking. The waitress was friendly but was clearly not experienced. We waited an extremely long time with empty coffee cups and had to ask another server for refills. Need to note my server only had 2 occupied tables too. No manager around to notice her absence so that could be improved.

Review 2:This is a great location that is close to everything you want to visit downtown. Nicely updated with a slick "art deco meets modern" look. Very friendly and helpful staff during our stay. It certainly didn't feel like I was in a hotel in Mobile. Comfortable and clean room, and the Korres toiletries in the bath were a nice touch. Bed was comfortable and noise level was low, even though our room was close to the elevator. The bar was impressive as they made their own cocktail mixes from scratch and didn't use the cheap, sugary bottled stuff as many do. There were only a few craft cocktails on the menu, but the bartender was willing to make anything we requested.

Review 3:They charged me a 100 dollar deposit, and a week later have not refunded it. After multiple calls to them they still say it should come back in a day or 2.

Review 4:I'm usually not one to leave reviews but I feel compelled in this instance. The cleanliness of rooms was not good. Old carpet with exceptionally bad stains. Loud vent right over bed that would not stop blowing. This vent left additional stains on ceiling that they tried to cover up with white spray paint. They should have never rented this room. Rotting wood framimg doors by elevator.Had to ask for room change. Staff was accommodating. Second room was s little better. At least vent want blowing on my head while I slept. Lounge was closed, restaurant was closed for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No ATM in lobby. When asked where I should go for these needs I was directed to the Holiday Inn across the street. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Holiday Inn. Perhaps in the future they will make the appropriate renovations and The Admiral will be a nice place to stay.

Review 5:Staff was friendly and helpful. Good location.

Review 6:The hotel was in the midst of a total renovation, so there was no restaurant or bar on premisses. We had to evacuate the room when we were surprised by an early morning fire alarm apparently set off by the construction crew. This time the reception staff gave us no heads-up as to the situation while we and I think the only other guest staying there that evening stood outside. We had to return inside to request a status. That was mind boggling. Booking.com should have advised us of the construction in advance of making reservations.

Review 7:The reception staff was was over the top helpful when we arrived by personally escorting us to show us the area and restaurants. I think they were bored as I believe the hotel was virtually empty.

Review 8:The lobby was under construction; Everything there seemed old; Staff playing Facebook at work; Charged more than promised; Hotel has no parking garage, Had to park next-door; Wi-Fi signal was really weak; The bath tube was dirty, Had to change another room; Felt fooled by the previous reviews;

Review 9:kinda close to downtown Mobile;

Review 10:Pay to park, But all and all with the room value it is still a great deal!

Review 11:The staff was abundantly helpful and pleasant. Hotel is somewhat older but in wonderful condition and a joy to stay in. Close to downtown in a great area with several attractions nearby along with the Cathedral. Would definately stay there again.

Review 12:Was there for Bayfest. The room was overpriced for what was provided. Need to update television to flat screens high definition. Put microwave in room.

Review 13:Room was clean and staff was excellent.

Review 14:When all was said and done, it was a bit pricey at 200.00 for the night after taxes and fees, but the location is outstanding and I would definitely return.

Review 15:The historic feel of this old hotel was nostalgic and refreshing. I only wish I had more time to explore and appreciate it. I was only there for one night but would definitely stay again.

Review 16:Parking prices, condition of the room. I live in the city where we stayed my husband and I like to get away for the night on occasion we would never stay here again. The room smelled and the hotel could really use some updating. It doesn't compare to other hotels in the Downtown area. This was my second time staying here in the last 6 months. It didn't get better on the second chance. We won't come back.

Review 17:Location, front desk staff

Review 18:Lobby and rooms smelled bad. Mattress old and lumpy. Broken coffee carafe. Bar closed at 4:00 p.m. Restaurant not open at breakfast.

Review 19:Convenient to our functions.

Review 20:Absolutely no vending machines in the building. Had to go next door to Holiday Inn just to buy something to drink.

Review 21:Older hotel, but very nice. Quiet room, comfy bed, nice decor, great price.

Review 22:There were no shower caps in bathroom.

Review 23:Quick check-in, clean room & quite! The staff especially the night manager (a man) very accommodating to my needs when there was a problem with my reservation. Also the front desk clerk. A very nice young lady with a very welcoming smile. I am in the hotel industry and travel often. I would stay here again.

Review 24:There was nothing I can think of that we didn't like... Thank You all for the great stay we felt at home probably better I don't get that kind of treatment at home Thanks again to all the staff and Oliver's resturant was excellent...

Review 25:Really I cant say enough about our stay at Admiral Semmes Hotel in Mobile Al...The staff was 100% they catered to our every need and the rooms were great the food was great and the price was a huge surprise as well as the room rate we had a great time and hated to leave this Hotel we just loved our stay. I will recommend to anyone and will return. Sincerely Anita Martin, Gulf Shores Al

Review 26:I didn't like the television or the cable choices.

Review 27:The price was good. It was our first visit to Mobile and the location was great. We were close to everything.

Review 28:Bathroom left something to be desired--black mold in the tub/shower, the sink drain--I had to fix it so it would open and drain. The TV was the worst reception I've suffered in many, many years, even though it was Dish. Fridge was frozen up with massive ice. Sleep-Number beds--one of the two queen beds was totally malfunctioning. But, one was excellently comfortable.

Review 29:Location is the best aspect of Adm Semmes. The parking garage was perfect--covered walk all the way into the hotel. The historic building is wonderful--dates back to 1940. Classy, stylish, quiet, luxurious even!

Review 30:I didn't like that they weren't ready to check us in at the time of arrival. We had to wait 30 minutes. Also when I came down to have dinner the kitchen want open. Was very disappointed in that. Fortunately other great place were in walking distance.

Review 31:I liked the closeness to the paces we were visiting. All was in walking distance. Nice pool and bar. Comfortable room

Review 32:Room wasn't ready when we arrived (4:30) but also noticed people were still checking out.

Review 33:Ambience was wonderful. Very comfortable bed - sllep number mattress Room clean, with a well used look. Not your average cookie cutter motel (a real plus). Front desk clerk, Goddess, was wonderful.

Review 34:We were adults and no kids, put next to a family where the noise level was extremely high. I think they should put some thought into spacing when all rooms are not booked. We had to listen to a ball being bounced for quite a while. Parking was initially confusing as you have to park in the garage and then walk outside to enter the hotel. Signs in the parking garage should be clearer instead of just the hotel name and an arrow.

Review 35:After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant as to what we would find upon arrival. The check-in staff was very pleasant, our room was ready early and all went smoothly. The room was somewhat dated, however, the beds were most comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the Bath&Body Works on the counter was totally unexpected. We would definitely stay there again as the value for the room was exceptional.

Review 36:Place is under renovation we find dust in the hotel, Constroction stare early in the morning

Review 37:Staff most helpful and accomodating

Review 38:Rooms nice, historic site.

Review 39:No flat screen TV, not enough outlets!

Review 40:The price!

Review 41:Had a great sleep at the Admiral Semmes. Nice and quiet and a very nice bed.

Review 42:Didn't like the over night parking aspect of it.

Review 43:The area is very comforting.

Review 44:The restaurant was closed

Review 45:Great location for somebody who is going to Bayfest

Review 46:atmosphere, proximity to everything

Review 47:TV needs an upgrade

Review 48:Location and sleep number bed

Review 49:The parking

Review 50:The quietness

Review 51:No microwave in room, limited amenities.

Review 52:The bed and location

Review 53:Can not order food to room

Review 54:Shower was old ,air conditionor was loud, TV was bad

Review 55:Cheap close to downtown

Review 56:Cleaner carpet

Review 57:Glamour of entry and foyer. Courtesy of staff cleanliness of bed and bath Parking

Review 58:Pay for park!!!!!!:-(

Review 59:Price, location, the hotel setting, and look.

Review 60:The hotel lobby smelled like natural gas/mold or something unusual. Thankfully our room on the 7th floor smelled much better! Our bathroom tiles had mold in the grout. There were no people in the hotel or lounge. It was bedtime when we heard the first people in the hotel. It was weird to be so empty.....felt odd. The swimming pool is being renovated, but they offered the holiday inn pool for our use.

Review 61:The hotel was charming. Our room was clean. It is right downtown and close enough to walk to Buckys for pizza.

Review 62:Wish the restaurant served dinner.

Review 63:The staff was the best and took care of our every needs. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Great location in the middle of everywhere. We would defiantly return soon.

Review 64:Parking fee was ok; however, no hotel parking and no entry direct from the public parking.; you had to walk out of the hotel, around the block for public parking - not particularly good for a solo female although the neighborhood seemed fairly secure.

Review 65:Price was excellent.

Review 66:The room was noisy. The air clunked on and off. When it was on it was cold, but when it went off it was hot. The toilet had a leak and kept filling up all night making noise.

Review 67:The location was good. It was close to the downtown and civic center. The room was large and the beds were comfortable. The little bar downstairs was nice.

Review 68:One bedside light did not work. The shower had hair left in the base, and the shampoo and conditioner were half used. The bed crunched when you moved, the mattress dipped in the middle. Went to bar at 6.50pm for a drink and she was closed. Reception actually told me, to go to sister hotel next door that was hoping. Will never stay here again

Review 69:Place stunk, room was dirty, wall paper peeling from walls, mold on walls in bathroom, way way over priced for condition, bed was broken

Review 70:Location to Bayfest was nice

Review 71:The bathrooms are small. The TV's aren't flat screen and there aren't many channels available. The restaurant, Olivers, wasn't open, and neither was the bar. (We stayed over a Saturday night).

Review 72:The hotel was beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable, sleep number beds. The hotel has a lot of character and is in close proximity to good restaurants.

Review 73:That they haven't updated the televisions with flat screens and it has a musty oder throughout the entire hotel and there are no microwaves in the entire hotel for guest to use. Not a good look.

Review 74:That it's an old luxurious hotel very pretty and romantic.

Review 75:I was very disappointed on the hotel. The room was not clean;stainedcarpet;smelled of cigarette smoke;old tv with limited channels; no roomservice as advertised on website; no valet parking. Overall verydisappointing.

Review 76:Location was convenient for business trip

Review 77:I had to park down the street, had no valet. Downtown Mobile is scarry because I was by myself. They had a tattoo convention that weekend and piercing . I was very uncomfortable They had no one to carry my bags had to park in the public garage.

Review 78:The in room A/C vent blew directly on the bed with no way to adjust or divert. There was no micro wave in the room.

Review 79:The downtown location. It is a somewhat older and nice building in historic city.

Review 80:The false fire alarm twice in one night was aggravating and scary the first time it happened

Review 81:Very nice stay we really enjoyed it

Review 82:The front desk allowed a stranger to come to my door at 2AM.

Review 83:the TV reception as bad. Very fuzzy in this day in age of electronics.

Review 84:the staff was more than helpful about our stay and comfort.

Review 85:Room stank. Alarm went off at 3:00am in morning (3times).

Review 86:Not much

Review 87:Amount paid for parking

Review 88:Location

Review 89:This was our second time to stay here! Very nice hotel with an excellent staff!!

Review 90:Felt strange, empty, not many people (we were the only ones there for breakfast)

Review 91:Historic site, grand interior decor, large rooms

Review 92:Out dated

Review 93:Price

Review 94:Rough part of town, parking was a block away, entire property in dire need of maintenance

Review 95:It was in the downtown historical area

Review 96:no air conditioning
