Reviews for Americas Best Value Inn & Suites/Hyannis
Review 1:The room was musky smelling, and had black mold all around the bath valve, and along the baseboards and in the tile grout. Noisey room next door and no answer at the front desk to report to. Housekeeper didn't finish making bed, didnt vacuum . Towels were dingy and thin. Bedspreads & blankets were dirty and had cigarette burns.
Review 2:When we checked in there was a delightful young lady on duty. She was sweet and helpful. She assisted us several more times, and felt bad we were unhappy.
Review 3:Our room was dark, dreary and grubby. The breakfast was carbo-rich and lacked alternatives. Open tubs of cream cheese to be shared by all, are a health hazard waiting to happen. This hotel needs a major facelift and cleaning.
Review 4:I enjoyed the indoor pool and the proximity of the hotel to local attractions.
Review 5:Everything was perfect! We were upgraded upon arrival, our suite was perfect for two couples and it was a great deal with breakfast included. We will be back!
Review 6:The facilities were clean and located close to all we were looking to do. This was our first visit to the Cape and the walk to the water, ferry, and downtown area was great. The staff was very nice and knowledgable. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 7:the rooms were old, not that clean, had water bugs. the breakfast was cheap and minimal at best. the staff was not very pleasant. Noisy,
Review 8:was convenient to walk to attractions, beach, shopping
Review 9:Unfortunately the noise coming from the room above and beside ours did make our stay not as good as it could have been. I guess that we were just not impressed with Hyannis and this reflected on the motel.
Review 10:Room was clean and comfortable and the beds were great, despite being a bit old. Close to a great Thai restaurant just down the street. Indoor pool was used by some as it was a rainy day. Staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Review 11:We had a gang of weekend golfers there Friday and Saturday who drank too much and were generally just a b****y nuisance, partying until 4am so maybe some tighter house rules would be an idea. Once reception closed it wasn't really clear who was responsible but I would have happily called the police out to their Friday night goings on.
Review 12:Great location and great price. As some other reviewers have pointed out the décor is a bit tired but my room was spotlessly clean, the bed was good and everything worked - that's what you need in a budget hotel and this place delivered 100%. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Got no problems recommending and would happily book here again. In fact judging by the occupancy level over the weekend I'd say a lot of people chose this place when they visit Hyannis and that is one of the best recommendations you can get.
Review 13:NOISY golfers, partying in the parking lot, filthy room, fire alarm pranked at 4am. Complained, desk clerk didn't care. I will never stay here again.
Review 14:Location within walking distance of downtown.
Review 15:The facilities were dated, but definitely a good choice bang for buck.
Review 16:I liked that a microwave and Playpen were available for us. Made traveling with 2 young kids easier.
Review 17:Rooms were kind of musty. Clean on the surface, but need some work past what a maid can do. We were there for one night, and were not spending much time in the room, so it was manageable.
Review 18:They have two pools, indoor and outdoor.
Review 19:Breakfast was pretty bad. Down the street I found a coffee shop The Daily Paper I believe that was excellent and reasonable. Alot of locals in there.
Review 20:Room was clean, bed was fine, bathroom was clean. I felt fine in the room.
Review 21:Breakfast started 8:00 am and everyone had to catch ferries to islands for 8:00 am departures so was unable to eat breakfast when offered at this start time as with most of quests- quess this is done to save money on guests breakfasts
Review 22:Good location to ferries as is the reason I booked here
Review 23:The staff not very friendly or polite about info such as where the breakfast was. The pool was green and we didn't dare swim in it. The room was dingy, the curtains were dirty and had pin holes in many places. The bed is barely a foot away from the window, my son was afraid to sleep so close to the window and door. There was no chain lock on the door and the door was loose when it shut like would be easily broken into. Never felt safe there. The breakfast...everything was cut in half...muffins, bagels etc and the room was so small, crowded and awkward..
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:The shower and tub area were dirty and moldy. The rest of my room was also musty. I needed to spray it with Lysol. I'm glad I brought my own pillow! Also, the people upstairs sounded like a herd of elephants all night. Since I left very early I didn't get to experience breakfast but did get to see a lovely motorcycle gang in front of their room. I would never stay here again. It was a terrible experience!
Review 26:The pool area was ok, but very close to the street. WiFi was ok but needed to ask for the password.
Review 27:The bed was very unconfortable, the lady didn't cleaned the room because when she came we were inside and she did't come back. The breakfast was only 8 to 10 and was really pure
Review 28:The position very close to the center of Hyannis and the parking
Review 29:I requested a room change because the first room smelled like cat urine as soon as the door opened. There were bugs everywhere and it was gross enough to make me vomit. Knew there was a catch to why the room was so cheaply priced!!
Review 30:Location
Review 31:Place is tired but right down town Window curtains worn Carpeting need replacing TV is from 80s
Review 32:Indoor pool has good towels is warm beds are great towels are great Location terrific We got quiet room as requested Hot water was great
Review 33:The "breakfast" was only muffins, some bagels and cream cheese, and some toaster waffles. The coffee was located in the lobby not in the breakfast room. The breakfast room did have assorted juices. However there's like 10 breakfast and lunch only restaurants within walking distance so if you don't mind paying for breakfast it's no biggie. The air conditioner took a while to cool down the room but as long as you leave it on it stays cool.
Review 34:The hotel was very close to the down town area but just far enough that you didn't get all the noise from the late night bars and local teens hanging out. We were able to walk to every restaurant we ate in and they had tons of cute shops and things to keep us busy. Beach was .8 miles away so it was walking distance but we took the 2 minute drive. We ended up going to tons of beaches on the cape but the one close to the hotel was very pretty is you are okay with the Bay Side. (No waves, lots of seaweed, pretty boats to stare at). Staff was very friendly, room was extremely clean (it did smell a bit like cleaner when we arrived but I opened the bathroom window for an hour and it went away), the bed was very soft but other then that it was good, overall a very nice king room for such a low price. We didn't end up swimming but there were two pools (indoor and outdoor) open from 9am-9pm and there were always people in them so it must of been nice pools. JFK memorial is within walking distance and so is the harbor with all of the cute shops. The ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard is also within walking distance and the hotel sells the round trip tickets for a pretty good discount. Bathroom was big with tons of room on the shelve for all of my beauty products and there was also a mini fridge in the room. Overall it was a great place to stay and I would definitely book again.
Review 35:The carpet of the 1 st room they gave to us (#27) had bad smell eve though it was cleaned few minutes before. The staff a the reception was very friendly and they immediately changed our room with another one much better.
Review 36:We appreciated a lot the swimming pool. The room was very comfortable.
Review 37:Room service that came to clean your room each morning came at 8-830 everyday when trying to sleep on my vacation. When you didn't answer because you were sleeping they would key into the room
Review 38:Size of bed and cleanliness of room
Review 39:Limited continental breakfast, starts only at 08 AM. Small breakfast room.
Review 40:Perfect location near the harbor and the bus station. A typical motel inn, no frills but very clean and quiet. Roomy rooms, wifi ok. Nearby 24x7 shop with some foond and drinks.
Review 41:Starting to show it's age, but OK for price.
Review 42:Convenient to the ferry. Fair price for hotel. Appreciate convenience of ferry parking. Convenient to walk to town restaurants.
Review 43:Parking lot pavement could be upgraded.
Review 44:Overall room is updated and clean. Staff is friendly and location is great. Restaurant and shops are in walking distance. Will stay here again
Review 45:Motel is located on Main St. Hyannis which is where you will find restaurants and shops. In the summer it's a very busy place. Parking is convenient on the street and is free.
Review 46:tub slow drain, electrical outlets loosely covered and not functioning properly, curtain rod for window broken and just hanging there. Area has some run down houses and shady looking loitering in empty store front hallways.
Review 47:location to the areas of interest. pools, breakfast,
Review 48:No complaints here.
Review 49:Super close walking distance (5 mins) to all the fun things on Main Street, but far enough away so that the noise won't keep you up. We picked this place because we didn't want to drink and drive. You get what you pay for. A little outdated decor but comfortable enough. Didn't have much interaction with the staff. Plenty of parking.
Review 50:The only 2 complaints I had were that the breakfast area was too small and the outdoor pool closed too early.
Review 51:The rooms were clean, it was in a great location, the staff were very nice!!
Review 52:One of the fuses in our room kept blowing. We only had the AC and one other appliance going. Also the nightstand had ashes and dirt in it. The beds and the bathroom were clean, but not everything else.
Review 53:The hotel was very close to downtown and the harbor. We were able to walk everywhere. Only a short drive to the beach as well.
Review 54:We were disgusted with the room when we first entered it. Unfortunately, there were no other vacantcies in the area....the curtains were torn, the pillows were pancakes and when we went out and came back our parkingspot was taken and the man at the desk told us to park 10 spaces down inthe handicap area (which we did not do) They offered very little for the$200 we paid. Also, it was very dirty....it was disgusting...
Review 55:Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 56:Outdoor pool was supposedly only open till 6 pm. The breakfast was very meager. Very basic, low budget, décor and furnishings. (but that's what we expected)
Review 57:We could walk to restaurants, shops and to shore and boat trips. We used the pools, they were clean and warm. Our room was large, air worked well, we had a small refrigerator, it was not fancy but clean. The staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions for activities and restaurants.
Review 58:The pictures online looked better than it actually was. It just wasn't as nice as I had hoped for the amount of money that we paid for 3 nights. The AC was inconsistent, the toilet was difficult to flush and the hairdryer did not work.
Review 59:Having 4 beds for a family of 5 was helpful.
Review 60:Very very cheap -- holes in the bedspread from cigarettes; this motel looks exactly like the grungy hotels filmed for drug and mob movies. Saying that, I'd stay here again with a group of friends.
Review 61:Very convenient location -- walking distance to all of downtown. Our group of friend found it perfect for what we were looking for.
Review 62:The hotel was dirty with terrible smell in the room and bugs in the bathtub. I had serious concerns for my kids touching the floor with anything but their shoes.
Review 63:The vicinity to the town
Review 64:Wish breakfast would be sooner than 8am so we could get a earlier start to the day.
Review 65:The location was accessible to walk to ferry for Nantucket and restaurants, etc.
Review 66:Bad experience...had many little bugs all over the ceiling and on the bed...house keeping came in and tried to clean thing's, but we're not able to change rooms and felt itchy all night and the smell of bug spray was awful...the next day when I checked out the same lady housekeep/owner didn't even commit on how was our not night or apologize..she made no knowledge, of the awful experience...luved the Cape!!!
Review 67:My friend and I asked the lady on reception to call a local attraction to check opening times but she said they change all the time and it's just a short walk down Main Street. She could have just rang.
Review 68:The location was amazing! Fantastic spot.
Review 69:The fact that I had to be infatic about a late check out request.
Review 70:The room was comfortable and accommodating. And they honored my late check-out request after a little confrontation at the front desk.
Review 71:Mold around tub, wanted a king bed and in the room there was a king bed and a double mattress on the floor. Also breakfast started at 8:00 so if your an early raiser and want coffee/tea forget it. Also when we walked by the breakfast room there were dogs in the dining room
Review 72:close to town and walking distance to coffee in the morning. Nice pool!
Review 73:The room smelled and was not the most welcoming. The bed was ok. We stopped here for one night because we were seeing a concert in Provincetown and this was far cheaper. If you're looking for a one night stop somewhere to just rest you head, this is okay, I would not recommend it for long trips.
Review 74:Location is great.
Review 75:Smell of urine in the staircase. Breakfast start only at 8 am. Not good if you want to leave early. Beds small and way to soft. Very dated.Very expensive for what you get!
Review 76:The man working at the front desk as not helpful at all. He gave away my room to another person and then charged me extra for booking a room that day. He did not even try to help. It was sad how bad he was.
Review 77:Upon check in we immediately noticed we were not asked for our license, our car make. Our sheets and mattress cover had hair thru them. The top of the dresser had wet sticky matter all over them. Huge spider webs in corners of ceilings. Disgusting.
Review 78:We liked the location.
Review 79:I did not like the bathroom...because of the mold in and on the shower curtain.
Review 80:Easy to get from the bus station train station and airport, also the resturants were good...and people
Review 81:Getting to the room was a not easy (staircase and a long walk down an exterior hall). Area was cluttered with chairs, and railing was draped with wet towels and swimsuits. If we had been carting along anything wheeled this would hav been a nightmare. The (possibly) empty open box of Parliaments on the plastic chair outside our door was a real 5 star touch.
Review 82:Loved the convenient location and the super easy check-in. Impressed that they stayed late for our arrival when we were delayed +60 minutes. The art in the room was absolutely fabulous, the bathroom was super clean. We'd stay again...
Review 83:Room was dirty. Moldy shower curtain found a sports bra on the floor from previous guest. Got locked in the bayhroom because the lock broke.
Review 84:Price was good
Review 85:The property is very old. Some updating would help a lot. Also, the room where breakfast was held was too small and there was always a line. Maybe a different room configuration might help.
Review 86:The location was good. We could walk down to the shops on Main Street and dine without a problem. The room was spotless and the shower had great pressure.
Review 87:Parking! After returning from an evening out; the lot was full. Was toldto park in the bank next door. Very inconvenient when you pay $$ tostay, and then have to move the car in order to pack up. At a motel thisstyle I expect to park at least "close" to the room. Bed wastoo hard for me. But, the biggest concern for me was the bathroom windowdidn't lock. Since we were ground level I put my hairbrush in thetrack so the window couldn't be slid open. It is down the road froma lot of bars for young people to party. That's fine, but I have afeeling these are the ones who parked in the lot since street parking bythe bars is limited.
Review 88:Room was very clean! Very spacious room, nice table & chairs. Nicelarger sized refrigerator also. Staff at front desk was helpful withrestaurant suggestions. Breakfast was nice, muffins, bagels, cereal, good coffee.
Review 89:The children's tooth that fell off our bed started our stay. It flew off the bed when we pulled back the blanket. There was a spoon on the edge of the bed underneath. The pool smelled like acetone. The curtains were stained and the pillow cases. The lamp shades were broken above the beds. Stay away. Dive
Review 90:It was gross.
Review 91:Old furnishings and general look and not enough towels but they were quickly supplied when asked for.
Review 92:Close to boats and we liked the indoor and outdoor pools. The continental breakfast had delicious muffins coffee and juices.
Review 93:Decor could do with a refresh.
Review 94:Brilliant location near bus, train and ferry. Walk to Harbour, Main Street, restaurants. Pools were good, staff and guests were friendly.
Review 95:No kettle to make a hot cuppa. Room smelled of smoke/food/body odour. (The bedspread needed a wash.) Our friend's fridge had a mouldy old sandwich in it! When we bought tickets for the ferry to Nantucket, no booking was made and we had to go standby - nearly missed out. The room smell meant we had to sit outside to relax.
Review 96:Good location, friendly staff, good free wifi in room. Insect screens on window. Comfy bed. Nice towels. Good breakfast - especially liked the eggs (which I ate even though I'm sure they weren't free range!) Good to have some protein.
Review 97:breakfast room too small, crowded, difficult to get food as so many people. choice mediocre
Review 98:Walking distance to restaurants, swimming pool warm, clean. Friendly reception and helpful. good location
Review 99:Dirty, smelly, it was NOT a breakfast, not even continental breakfast. The "breakfadt" area was so tight and overcrowded you could not even get close to it. Location was questionable with many "homeless" people and young kids skateboarding outside the window.
Review 100:Location was ok
Review 101:Free breakfast was horrific, Small room so everyone was pushing and shoving, got coffee spilt on me. Pastries, bread etc were stale
Review 102:Good location and friendly staff.
Review 103:Our room had a severe mold odor that did not dissipate with opening of windows, etc. The walls were dirty and the carpet felt wet. The other room, occupied by our daughter, reeked of cigarette smoke, even though it was a "non-smoking room".
Review 104:tv reception was very poor...but we don't watch that much tv
Review 105:friendly service beds were comfortable....rooms were clean... good place to stay over all...good location
Review 106:Still could use a little updating but at least it's clean - furniture is a little used and some even broken but overall not a bad place for the price.
Review 107:You can't beat the location !!!! Right on Main St in Hyannis - right next to train and bus stations 2 blocks from the ocean - walking distance to pretty much everything you'd need
Review 108:The blow dryer in my room didn't work. The toilet didn't flush right away, each time I used it. Had to flush it 3 or 4 times.
Review 109:The location to the ferry
Review 110:The outdoor pool was not clean at all, green and brown in color. The facility could use some minor updating.
Review 111:The rate per night is great, especially when compared to surrounding area. We traveled with young children 3 & 7, and found it to be a good fit.
Review 112:It's an older property not the cleanest place.A lot of fishermen were there when I stayed and strong fish smell everywhere
Review 113:The location! Close to everything .
Review 114:No microwave in rm.
Review 115:Able to check in early, have adjoining ground floor rooms without prior request, able to check out 1 hr later without a problem. The continental breakfast was available.Nearness to fishing boats.
Review 116:The rooms are in desperate need of an update and deep clean. The sheets and comforter were old and worn thin. The carpet smelled sour. We found hair on the sheets. We really don't have high standards, but this was way below our expectations.
Review 117:The staff was friendly and the check-in and check-out process was easy. The bathroom and towels were clean.
Review 118:The breakfast bar is too small and can get virtually unusable during high volume times of the season.
Review 119:We can park the car and walk to any part of downtown Hyannis.
Review 120:Very, very noisy!! The room next door had the television blasting all night long through the morning!! Faint smell of mildew.
Review 121:The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.
Review 122:the water kept running don't know from where but it as extremely annoying could or should find other eateries to deliver not enough handicapped correct rooms or parking spaces
Review 123:room was secure no one was terribly noisey the indoor pool was open staff was pleasant
Review 124:Staff is not flexible, the lady at the desk called us on the room-line at 10:00 in the morning to leave.
Review 125:Good location, big and cosy room. Breakfast included!
Review 126:Breakfast menu low in protein for diabetic. Need an other category for travelers - had to choose family with older children. Actually we were a mother and an adult daughter.
Review 127:Easy to find, relatively quiet except for emergency vehicles. Roomy, excellent round table and chairs for writing.
Review 128:If you are a budget minded travler who wants a clean and comfortable place to sleep with a friendly staff and an easy walk to town and the harbor without breaking the bank , then this is the place. The closest you can get for the money .
Review 129:Breakfast menu was the same all week long: little variations could go long way. Coffee
Review 130:Convenient location Housekeeping staff maintained room and bathroom clean Parking availability Information display and water cooler in the lobby
Review 131:Not much really. The breakfast room got rather too busy and could benefit from being bigger and occasionally I was forced to park overnight at the bank next door as the car park was full. However, it was our second trip to Cape Cod from England and we did have a fantastic vacation.
Review 132:I liked the very close proximity to Hyannis town centre. This was important to us, so my teenage twin daughters, who had their own room, could come and go as they pleased. The atmosphere of the hotel was friendly and very casual, the place was a little dated but clean.I'd book again.
Review 133:Cleaning crew was not thorough servicing the room. There were groups of people gathered in the parking lot, loud and appeared to be drinking. (did not provide for a real comfortable atmosphere while on vacation upon our arrival that evening) They did quiet down at about 10pm. The shower tub had black mildew around the the edge of the tub where it met the surround panel that had been caulked over and also on the shower curtain at the top by the hooks on the rod. That didn't make you feel like it was really sanitary.
Review 134:Location was convenient to places of interest. Breakfast was modest but ok for the price of the motel. Price of hotel was good compared to the other ones which were about 2 times the price.
Review 135:Our flight was cancelled and we arrived way beyond check in time, the staff was very nice and put the key in the mailbox. The hotel is close to the ferry and shopping.
Review 136:free breakfast was skimpy; we ended up eating at IHOP very basic decor
Review 137:good location, easy walking distance to downtown with lots of cute shops and restaurants and JFK museum etc. nice firm bed and good-sized room
Review 138:just about everything
Review 139:room was fairly clean, facilities were old and needed updating. towels were tissue paper thin, soap was so small it slipped off the wash cloth. room had an odor of being closed. pillows were flat and looked old and over used. complimentary breakfast just OK no milk or cream for coffee only powdered creamer. location to Main Street and the Harbor is the only positive.
Review 140:Need to up keep the facilities - the bath tub in our bathroom needs to be caulked again soon, as it has mold around the entire tub, it was really bad.
Review 141:Price; location - convenient & close to the steamship ferry to Nantucket; close to Hyannis downtown - restaurants, etc.
