Reviews for Buffelsdrift Game Lodge

Review 1:Restaurant not flexible, kitchen closing at 10pm and refused a booking for 9pm since They needed more than 60 minutes to prépare thé food.

Review 2:Staff vers welcoming , bed very confortable, cozy place. Very well désigned, not too many people, gréât expérience!

Review 3:The resort seemed under staffed. Out of 4 meals, only one did we experience acceptable service. We constantly had to go and fetch or ask for things. Even when we made reservations, our table was never ready for us. The tents could be maintained alot better, as they werent just easy in-an-out. The flaps almost never closed proeprly allowing alot of bugs in. The tent should be removed of all cob webs inside and out daily to really push it to a 4/5 star facility. The outside decks were in poor condition and lots of spider webs, the whole outside area should be sprayed down with water daily. The breakfast was really poor, they could do alot ore to improve being a 4-star facility.

Review 4:We enjoyed the proximity of some of the animals. The bath and bed were both very comfortable. A beautiful experience on the water.

Review 5:The service was below standard from the time we arrived,no person to meet us on arrival, very little communication from staff regarding animal safaris, some sections of lodge closed,no indoor bar area available due to inclement weather.Overall the lodge has huge potential ,the setting is amazing, grounds kept beautiful, tent setup extremely well.I feel the major let down for this lodge is customer service.

Review 6:Dinner at Restaurant, restaurant Manager was very helpful and friendly.

Review 7:Really nothing bad.

Review 8:GREAT GREAT GREAT location! Fantastic tents. They warmed up our tent and bed while we went for dinner, so everything was cozy and warm to sleep. The food was delicious and well.. the view is indescribable.

Review 9:My tent was the furthest away from the main lodge which was a bit scary walking back to in the dark. I would have liked the path to be more lit up.

Review 10:Beautiful place to stay

Review 11:Lack of places to relax - the upstairs pub with great views had no fire and no barman, it is the ideal place to enjoy winter evenings. Staff weren't keen to get it up and running. They could be doing a roaring trade in there in winter! Would have wanted to do our own drive through the game park but it isn't possible.

Review 12:Interacting with the 3 young elephants was the highlight of our stay, and the elephant minders outstanding - its a must do. Staff very friendly and dinner in the restaurant good. Buck walk between the tents at night. Tents very comfortable, get one on the water's edge.

Review 13:Arrived on Friday at approx. 18h00 for a 40 year matric reunion. Allocated unit was cold, air conditioner did not work - unit 20. Was moved to unit 21 after I phoned to advise, by now it was dark - bed light did not work & two single beds!! Phoned again and was advised to move to the next available unit. Complained, was then moved into unit 23 - dirty, cold and literally left our bags in the tent and had to leave to meet up with group in Oudtshoorn. We arrived late due to all the moving. Asked for a manager to contact us - it never happened. We complained at reception on Sat morning. Ruined our stay, which was not cheap - was given a discount when we departed on Sunday morning - still no manager has bothered to contact us. Water did not run out of the bath - no one was able to sort it out. Not a very pleasant experience, especially when we were over charged anyway - they have a Winter special which we should of had the pleasure of anyway!

Review 14:Breakfast was good & good staff in the restaurant - well done to them!

Review 15:The tents were amazing, large and spacious for us and our baby. There was a cot provided aswell. The staff were super friendly and informative and we thoroughly enjoyed the elephant feeding, an incredible experience aswell as the game drive.

Review 16:If your idea of camping is a tent with his and hers basins and a bidet, then this is for you. The "tent" is more luxurious than most hotel rooms with outside shower, king size bed and a deck from which to view hippos lazing by the lake. The restaurant is excellent and the evening game drive was informative and not to be missed for the views alone. Buffelsdrift is an excellent stop off on the way back from the Garden Route and is a real fun place to stay

Review 17:Only lukewarm water in the shower, but our day was overcast and that may have been the problem. Could not manage to get a key for the room safe from the office, though we made several calls (felt very safe there, however, and was not a problem). Never saw the hippos! Had booked the meerkats, but weather prohibited it - no one's fault, but a bummer anyway.

Review 18:Accommodations are amazing. We were a family, so our double tent was up from the water. Loved the outdoor shower. Rooms were beautifully furnished. Restaurant was fantastic - good food and drinks. Went to Cango Caves, which were beyond incredible! Expensive, but would definitely stay here again and would request tent on the water - so nice to sit on the cabin porch and relax, and look out over the water! Lots of birds! Book early as it was hard to get a reservation!

Review 19:Shame there isn't more wildlife, would take our overseas guests if you had the big five...

Review 20:Location is very handy. Tents were beautiful, especially the out door shower! Also great to have a pool...overlooking the hippo dam!

Review 21:Service for dinner slow for residents when corporate groups in

Review 22:We had a waterfront tent, number 9 which although was the furtherest away but was fab. (8 or 9 to me the best tents for position). Buffelsdrift a stunning scene and would I go back - def yes!

Review 23:Only one suggestion......two sets of towels/person during thewinter, would be appreciated. Please check the electric blanket in #12.

Review 24:The beautiful venue! What a surprise! The lovely young people working atthe lodge - they all seemed very happy and content and I believepriviliged to do their training at Buffelsdrift.Thank you for specialattention.

Review 38:loved the moongoose! we had tent # 24 Thats very secluded from the rest and the animals love this tent!

Review 39:No wifi, too few animals and too far to see.

Review 40:The concept of rescuing animals and not just buying them from Kruger.

Review 41:as explained above

Review 42:95% of everything.

Review 43:Breakfast wasn't good at all

Review 44:Restaurant staff's lack of attention

Review 45:Situation of tent and view of the animals

Review 46:We like the whole setup beautifull!

Review 47:It was very cold when we were there and we could not get the tents warm. Seasonal problem though, any other time of the year and it would have been excellent.

Review 48:Personally I thought accomadation was overpriced. 5star? Not. Arrived to a baking hot room. Aircon was off. No umbrella on deck. One wine glass. Huge amount off dirt/dust under bed and mini bar etc(dropped an earing) egyptian geese are a nuisance and shouldn't be there anyway(do realise they are a problem not just with you guys) lighting was too little in tent. No5.

Review 49:Setting is very nice. Fairly close to C Town. Staff were friendly and accomadating.

Review 50:I have stayed in places that charged the same that paid a lot more attention to detail in terms of accommodation. It's good - but not comparable.

Review 51:Location Staff - friendly and accommodating

Review 52:Having to go home!

Review 53:It was the high light of our holiday, what a beautiful place so relaxing. We watched the Hippos from our decking while laid on sun loungers drinking reasonably priced drinks from our mini bar. Heaven! Also went a sundowner this was brilliant had nibbles at a look out point watching the sun go down.Very romantic as only the two of us. Also saw lots of animals, even saw hippo's leaving the dam at night. Our guide was fantastic a young man very knowledgable Loucious (not sure of spelling)

Review 54:Wife would have liked a telly.

Review 55:Everything. Fantastic place, Hospitality 5* Fantastic Views in the Morning.

Review 56:Don't miss out on the Game Drives..great fun and lots to see! Really a good introduction to the safari experience
