Reviews for Le Petit Karoo Ranch

Review 1:One could see there was a serious leak in the roof and the water ran down the walls leaving stains- Sugar soap can easily remove those marks. The toilers flushing pin was missing. Attention to detail lacked a bit.

Review 2:The view was amazing! We could not have chosen a better place overlooking Outshoorn. The swimming pool was amazing and the rooms very quant!

Review 3:Security is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Review 4:A real adventure! Beautiful views and setting. The pool was so refreshing in the 39degree heat. Dinner on the veranda at sunset was lovely and breakfast delicious !

Review 5:- no shower - lower bunk bed (for kids) had no headspace

Review 6:- Charlie the dog - Angelique - Pascal the Chef / Owner / Jester - the Views!!!! - the scenery / landscape - the delicious food (amazing dinner, v good breakfast)

Review 7:It feels that the detail and love is missing. The tent was great and the buth tub nice. But e.g. there was no bath salt or anything to enjoy the bath tub. Also we only received two milk and had to ask for additional one. We ahd no tea, so w had to ask for that.... But those are small things, but those things make a place unforgetable.

Review 8:The idea is great and the view brilliant. The bed very comfortable.

Review 9:Our Stay in one of the Tents on Le Petit Karoo Ranch was the most best we had during our travelling along The Garden Route. For us, it was just perfect: A quite and remote place with a fantastic view over a beautiful landscape, sleeping in the lovely tent (outdoor Feeling with the amenities of a cozy bed and a open-door bathroom). The hosts are extremly friendly and helpful! We arrived in the afternoon, after a swim in the pool, we relaxed on our tent deck with this amazing view enjoying a stunning sunset. Pascal prepard everything for us for a Braai. The next morning a delicious Breakfast was served on the terrace. Definitly one of the highlights of our travel, unfortunatly we only could stay for one night, we would love to come back! Thanks a lot!

Review 10:Te Petit Karoo is located on a hill overlooking a beautiful valley and mountains, the tents are comfortable with a outdoor bath/Jacuzzi looking out over stunning scenery. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were great. There is a beautiful restaurant on site and would recommend dinner and breakfast.

Review 11:Driveway is steep and rocky. Take your time and you are fine.

Review 12:Lovely luxury style tent perched at top of the mountain. Staff is superb! Pascal is a talented chef so do yourself a favour and eat dinner here.

Review 13:The loo needs to be a little bit more enclosed, for better privatecy.

Review 14:The breakfast that was served was beyond excellence. The bed we slept in was super comfortable, and the view while relaxing in the bath, is unforgettable.

Review 15:There was a snake just below our room but the Jack Russel kept us safe from it.....it made me quite worried though. I also thought all payments was automatically done from bookings.com to the guesthouse which was not the case. The Jacuzzi is great but not enough warm water for a family of 4.

Review 16:Pascal is a very friendly host as well as his Jack Russell. The road to the top of the hill require a good vehicle (our Landrover loved it).Next time we'll make use of the swimming pool and have breakfast to enjoy the stunning views from the guesthouse.

Review 17:We missed a little fridge for leaving some stuff in the tent or at least somewhere else. Also the "Restaurant" could have been cleaner and also the tables could need an update or at least some table clothes on top. The hanging cables inside the tent were a little adventurous.

Review 18:The view was great, the tent ok for one night, the outside jacuzzi nice. Two cude dogs arround, Pascal and the ladies really friendly and helpful.

Review 19:Fantastic views and close to many tourist attractions in the area. You wont get a better view in the whole of Oudtshoorn. Owner is attentive but not obtrusive. Great stay!

Review 20:The breakfast was not good, and we were under the impression that breakfast was included in the price. We found parts of the room and dining area dirty.

Review 21:The setting was beautiful, the room was mostly comfortable, .

Review 22:We were left on our own in the bar to fend for ourselves, which can be a bit disconcerting, since we didn't know whether we could serve ourselves. The bath needs a shower curtain, otherwise one tends on spray the whole bathroom. Although the best option is to rather have a bath in the stunning spa bath!!

Review 23:The rooms are stunning with fantastic views. The bathroom is great. Breakfast was lovely and the hospitality of the owner and staff is fabulous. We will definitely come again!!

Review 24:We liked pretty much every aspect of the accommodation and the overall experience. The best bit was enjoying the views from the private jacuzzi. We were gutted that we only had time to stay for one night!

Review 25:This was our second visit to Le Petit Karoo and for this trip we chose to stay in the larger luxury unit on top of the hill. The unit is private, well-appointed (with a lovely little plunge-pool) and the views across the valley, beautiful. The owner Pascal and his staff are friendly and accommodating and the new improvements of the outdoor decking off the eating area and bar are wonderful spaces to wine and dine with a view. We will most certainly be back for a third visit to this wonderful little piece of Africa.

Review 26:Extremely nice place, we wanted to extend our stay, but unfortunately for us it was already full booked. Stunning view from terrace, refreshing bath tub outside on terrace.

Review 27:The water for shower and jacuzzi was a little bit to cold.

Review 28:We stayed in a tent on a hill amidst the bush. An unique experience! Comfortable and relaxing with beautiful starry sky. The host Pascal (French-speaking Swiss) is a very pleasant and helpful man. Beautiful view from the breakfast room (terrace). Good base for doing the Swartberg Pass and to visit Prince Albert with possibility of doing a short tour in the Karoo itself (very wild).

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:A very warm welcome from Pascal to this amazing place with fantastic views. We stayed in a tent which was great fun and had a very comfy bed.Good braai facilities and on the second night we ate in the restaurant there as it is quite far from town, had a delicious meal of ostrich steak. Nice pool too. If you want somewhere that feels a bit of an adventure and away from it all but still with comforts and near a good road I would highly recommend this. If you want to stroll to town on an eve and more polished luxury then perhaps not.

Review 31:A naughty boy who screamed like a baby and parents not controlling him .

Review 32:We loved the jacuzzi bath which is outdoor from your tent with the spectacular view . Also very nice owners .would defenatly go back

Review 33:No shade on the terrasse of the flat Sometimes a bit too warm and sticky inside

Review 34:The great view from the big terrasse The peaceful silence The apartment was very nice The terrasse of the restaurant and good meal Very friendly host who can also cook!

Review 35:bit far out for dining out in evening from local town

Review 36:the lodge called labyrinth we stayed in. Plunge pool Private sun deck Views Nature Host - Pascal a fab bloke Delicious food Cango Caves nearby Ostrich farm next door very good

Review 37:Sitting in front of the tent watching the sun set in the stunning landscape (360° view) was incredible! We didn´t expect the jacuzzi and the beds to be so comfortable!

Review 38:---

Review 39:the ride up to the range is kind of a challenge but fun :) and the reward is an amazing view over the little karoo from any of the rooms/tents. it was spacious and nice, good breakfast and nice pool.

Review 40:The wifi wasn't really good, i called various places through skype, not a stable Connection.

Review 41:Tent was fantastic, great view, clean and cosy. You have the feeling You are completly alone. The staff is really helpfull and makes You feel welcome.

Review 42:1. Super location 2. Beautiful tent with mountain view 3. Super Essen (perfect Ostrich menue cooked by owner himself in Restaurant) 4. Whirlpool bath with mountain view. Merci Pascal (Chef)

Review 43:Wifi

Review 44:Nice and special safari tent/house with a beautiful panorama view and very friendly and helpful boss/ staff. They made a great dinner for us!:-)

Review 45:The staff could have given us some more information regarding what to do in the area (besides going to an ostriche farm)

Review 46:We stayed 1 night at Le Petit Karoo. They view from our "tent" was awesome!!!! And sleeping in a not so average tent was a nice experience. Super breakfast and nice staff.

Review 47:We wanted to have dinner, but due to miscommunication, we had to find a place elsewhere. If you do want to have dinner, make sure you arrange it during breakfast.

Review 48:We had a lovely time in our luxury tent. The view was amazing. The tent had its own hottub at the back. The owner is a very friendly guy, who looks after the place very well. The location is perfect to visit the area. We had dinner at Buffelsdrift twice, which is nearby and has very good food. The breakfast at Le petit Karoo was excellent with again another amazing view over the valley.

Review 49:Our toilet was a bit wobbly! And the coffee wasn't great (altho weare coffee snobs!)

Review 50:Very accessible to tourist attractions (Cango caves, Cango ostrich farm,Oppi Dam for catch and release fishing and Buffelsdrift for lunch ordinner) Quiet with Spectacular views and a Jovial Frenchman owner tomake you feel at home! Our kids loved feeding the horses and playingwith Lilly the chubby retriever.

Review 51:The bar & restaurant area as well the pool are under construction / maintenance. Noise from vehicles on main road.

Review 52:The tent rooms are great! Luxurious camping:)

Review 53:Hot water problem, but sorted out immediately. Gravel road up the hill not to good for motor cars.

Review 54:Camp atmosphere Quietness and privacy Friendliness of staff

Review 55:Premises although clean a bit run down and can do with a decent make-over. Spa baths in both units 3 and 4 did'not work. Establishment not for self catering. Vacated the establishment the same day although were booked for 3 nights as it did not live up to the expectations as indicated via the net.

Review 56:No Shower and no shade parking

Review 57:Views and Position

Review 58:Breathtaking views. Comfortable tent. Open air Jaccuzi bath a real treat.

Review 69:The mountain views thou are absolutely beautiful!! Very nice place and staff are very friendly

Review 70:A beautiful spot with stunning views across the Little Karoo. Excellent location for all the attractions between Cango Caves and Oudtshoorn.

Review 71:weak wifi in room, short kettle cord

Review 72:Spectacular views, friendly host, an old dog and a young jack russel and a comfortable bed

Review 73:There was no space to hang our clothes and no toilet roll holder.

Review 74:The view!

Review 82:Mattress wasn't very comfortable if you prefer a firm mattress.

Review 83:Very friendly host Pascal. Lovely views. Nearby to Cango Caves and Ostrich farm.

Review 84:The view is amazing.

Review 85:The very bumpy drive up the hill to reach it

Review 86:The room decor, the peace and quite and the views.

Review 87:No internet No hot water Too many bugs !!

Review 96:An idyllic stay

Review 97:The tent needed a small fridge,

Review 98:The Bush tent accommodation was perfect. The view amazing. The set up very social

Review 99:Beautiful peaceful environment!!

Review 100:Service to your room. Privacy. Amazing view. Special.

Review 101:Bad driveway, stained towels, run down facilities, lack of maintenance and insufficient electrical plug points for supplied electric blankets.

Review 102:The open bathroom is nice for views but too cold with the wind. Would've liked to close the sides to block the cold air while bathing.

Review 103:We loved the view, private breakfast, and comfortable bed!

Review 104:No airconditioning in room. No TV and DSTV in room. The road is bad, not suitable for cars.

Review 105:The view from the balcony. Friendliness of owner. Atmosphere is nice and warm - Walla !!

Review 106:Pool as a little old - and needed a service/good clean.

Review 107:Loved everything about this place. We stayed in the tented camps, which was so romantic! breakfast was the best we had on our trip, and was served on our private patio. If you book in advance they cater for dinner as well. Great hosts, and great environment, would definitely recommend! Would love to go back again.

Review 108:Nothing really - even the drive up to the site wasn't as bad as others had mentioned.

Review 109:The novelty of sleeping under the stars but with the comfort of a proper bed and bathroom facilities. Lovely breakfast served beautifully on our own decking overlooking the valley. Perfect!

Review 110:Location of toilet was a bit awkward in relation to tent doors and they need a separate light in the toilet

Review 111:The view, the comfort of the beds and the staff. Friendliest staff in South Africa!

Review 112:The position of the toilet is a little awkward to get to at night. The tent zips need a little attention so the fly screens can be closed at night but with main tent open, so you are really out in the wild

Review 113:Was lovely and comfortable to sleep in the tent.

Review 114:Nothing in particular - if you like camping you will like this

Review 115:Great location Friendly, helpful staff Being outdoors to enjoy the view and the stars Nice breakfast served outside tent looking down over the valley

Review 116:Wifi signal very poor. Almost not worth having. It is the one thing they should try to improve.....oh...maybe the coffee at breakfast too which was the weakest coffee I have ever tasted!!

Review 117:A really unusual place up in the hills a few miles outside Oudtshorn. Beautiful view and unusual accommodation either in semi tents or rooms...but by tents we are talking Harry Potter with large double beds and showers!! Pascale the owner really friendly and also cooks although we didn't eat there - food smelt excellent!!

Review 118:The site is very beautiful with stunning views and the accommodation very comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast served by delightful staff. The host very charming and although the pool is small it was great to have such a lovely way to cool off after a long hot drive.

Review 119:Could do with a tidy round and general maintenance, after the intial shock it became home for two nights. The track up to it was frightening to say the least and you didnt feel like driving up there in the dark.

Review 120:Rustic charm and the host couldnt do enough for you.our last night he cooked springbok fillets for us alfresco. And very reasonably priced. The views and area were spectacular.

Review 121:The location name is very deceptive, It is not a ranch Access road is very steep and not paved, the rooms have no ventilation except the French door,

Review 122:A fantastic place. Wonderful location with views over the mountains. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We stayd 2 nights in mid December and it was one of the highlites of our trip to South Africa
