Reviews for Hyannis Harbor Hotel
Review 1:Swim team stayed there. Ran up and down hallways until after 11:00 p.m. Blowing whistles and yelling. Started again Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m.
Review 2:Comfortable, clean, close to downtown and ferry.
Review 3:Everything was closed down for the season, was not told this at time of booking.
Review 4:Right across the road from the ferry terminal to Martha's Vineyard
Review 5:It is evident that this hotel is sadly in need of major updating. Most of the wall plugs are in need of replacing (anything we plugged in fell out of the sockets). Way too many extension cords, which can lead to fires. Bathroom fixtures in poor condition (shower head pipe not correctly attached (secured) to the wall) The sink tap was very loose making it hard to get the correct water temperature.) The floors are in dire need of updating (more creaks) than a leaky boat. We could hear the neighbors walking on the creaky floors. Poor location chosen for the bar/restaurant, (closed), which blocked the wonderful view of the harbor. I feel that because of these conditions, I did not receive good value for money, for what I paid.
Review 6:Linen clean, beds comfortable, good location
Review 7:I was nearly scared away by a few bad reviews, and am so glad I wasn't. This place is very nice for the cost. There's a delicious restaurant next door, too. I thought it was well located and my room was spacious. Only issue was a noisy vehicle in the parking lot; the walls are not well insulated from ambient sound.
Review 8:Everything was good from checking in to checking out. Wish that there were a few complimentary bottles of water in the room.
Review 9:Loved the patio out front. Had so much furniture to sit on. The outdoor pool, bar and fireplace were not in use because of the time of year we were here but would love to come back in the summer. The indoor pool and jacuzzi was open.
Review 10:rooms are in need of update,no air circulation stuffy, had a bit of a stale odor, restaraunt could have stayed open a little longer
Review 11:cozy ,pretty good location,
Review 12:There was an awful smell in the room and fruit flies that we could not get rid of!!!! Although the room looked clean, it just smelled terrible. I didn't realize that parking was an extra fee.
Review 13:Location was great!!! Pool was very nice. The room was nice.
Review 14:I have been going here for over 10 years and like that it was familiar. However, I will not ever stay here again. My son who is now 16 and has opinions will not allow me to stay here either.
Review 15:I requested a room over looking the pool and I received a room looking at the back of a restaurant and the street.
Review 16:Breakfast Buffet only. Would of liked a sit down breakfast.
Review 17:The women Keisha at the front desk started our vacation off on the right foot. She was friendly, funny and excellent to deal with. She checked us out as well and was equally as wonderful! The Hotel food was delicious!!!
Review 18:There was no food available after 10:00. You couldn't sit in the restaurant area to have a drink when the bar was full and clearly nobody was eating there since it was after the time good was available
Review 19:The location was great for the ferry service and a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance
Review 20:Noisy drippy aircon, musty smell in room, room was clean but in need of updating (the room we had was not as pictured on website so presume still awaiting an update). $15/night for parking!!
Review 21:Great location for ferries to Nantucket, 10 min walk to Main Street.
Review 22:Room had a strange odor. Tub did not drain. Internet access was very poor.
Review 23:Location is fantastic - quick distance to Main Street and nearby restaurants. Pool/Restaurant are very nice.
Review 24:The electrical outlets were not in a convenient locations to charge cell phone and tablet. There wasn't enough shelving in bathroom to place toiletries.
Review 25:The professionalism of the staff and manager. The room was very clean. The location is great. I particularly enjoyed the fire place.
Review 26:The check in folks were a bit rude and proceeded to process my card even though it was paid for. She said it was for incidentals but never asked if she could swipe my card. The pictures looked great on line, however we stayed in the far back of the hotel and it was extremely tired. property
Review 27:Bathroom in our room was a little small and some of us had a problem with the Wi-Fi working consistently. Not ultra modern or shiny new, which might bother some people, but who goes to Cape Cod to hang out inside?
Review 28:Nice location across from the docks and just a short walk to Main Street. Cute beach and John F. Kennedy Memorial 0.4 miles away. Nice outside facilities that the teen kids enjoyed, especially the giant chess board.
Review 29:We went for the outdoor and indoor pools. They wouldnt open the i door pool unless it rained. Seriously not cool. This is not stated anywhere on any website!! They did not care at all when I voiced this. Our ac went off all night, it was a terrible nigjts rest :(
Review 30:The outside pool and open yard were very relaxing. The staf was friendly. The room was very spacious.
Review 31:Front desk staff completely unfriendly. Barely answer a question and say nothing. Not good morning or go to hell. All of them are the same. Had trouble with my keys. Approached desk a couple of times. Complete silence as if they were disturbed. Other staff was cordial. Switch the staff around. Sad, very sad, front desk staff.
Review 32:Location
Review 33:Price for breakfast too expensive, and extra charge for parking wasn't expected. Also, the bathroom in our room had a filthy window screen & carpet on central stairs needs to be replaced, really dirty.
Review 34:Perfect location, walking distance to shops and restaurants and close drive to beaches. Also enjoyed the outdoor pool & patio.
Review 35:Grumpy unfriendly staff make for an uncomfortable atmosphere. Not all of them but as solo traveller it makes you feel even more isolated. There were hairs on towels on first arrival and room wasn't stocked with shampoos. Also wifi does not work in the rooms. Had to go to a particular spot downstairs if I needed to use it.
Review 36:The location is excellent and the grounds are beautiful with the fire pit pool and restaurant/bar. If I was travelling with other people I would stay again because I wouldn't be relying on staff to help and chat to.
Review 37:The Breakfast Buffet was charged separately, but was very poor. i ahve had better buffets for free at almst every hotel i that offers free breakfast, and it cost $13 per person.
Review 38:The one thing I didn't like was the fact that parking was $15/day. The hotel also could have benefitted from a shuttle to/from some of the local beaches. It says one is within walking distance, but it would be a looong walk
Review 39:The hotel was great! The location was convenient, and the room was spacious and comfortable. We really enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and outdoor bar :). Also, awesome free wifi!
Review 40:Had to complain about noise 2 nights in a row, and yet security did nothing. Each time we attempted to call the front desk, receiving no answer we had to walk to the desk at 2:00 am and complain. Additionally the front desk staff were bored and unhelpful.
Review 41:As it is a holiday hotel it might have been nice to have a bunk bed and a double or 2 singles and a double so the kids did not need to share a bed. But otherwise it was great.
Review 42:The hotel was well located and my kids loved the out door pool.
Review 43:Air conditioner blows directly at person in queen bed near window. Noisy. Awakened during the night by loud guests on deck in nearby room.
Review 44:Good location. Able to walk across the street to catch ferry to Martha's Vineyard.
Review 45:Looked like some of the rooms in the back might need updating by the look of their balconies. We were up front around the pool area and it was great.
Review 46:Location couldn't have been better. Room was big and the staff was friendly.
Review 47:The building was very confusing & the inside was old and smelled terrible. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Review 48:The location was really the only reason we stayed here.
Review 49:Room was clesn but very basic. I was very surprised to be charged for parking given what we paid for the room. I wasn't told about parking fee .
Review 50:Poor customer service, $15.00 parking charge, very over-priced for such a run-down hotel. Pool was so cloudy and unclean. Ran out of running water for shower. Horrible experience
Review 51:Location is ok.
Review 52:Great place to relax and unwind , right on the harbor with restaraunts and shops nearby , friendly staff clean everything you could want for a cape vacation!
Review 53:The advertisement shows all of the newer rooms at the front of the hotel. We were given a very run down room at the back of the hotel.
Review 54:Setting is beautiful
Review 55:Decor tired, tatty and discoloured. Unpleasant smell in room but alternative we were shown was worse. We were told manager would be informed of our complaints but no contact was ever made by a manager. Holes in insect screen. Scratchy hard bed linen. Wifi in room not working. Made several complaints to staff who seemed surprised each time.
Review 56:-Bathroom very old and needs updating -Mildew smell throughout facility -Got back from the Melody Tent just after 10:30pm Restaurant, Bar , Fire Pit all shut down like a ghost town!
Review 57:-Staff was very friendly and helpful -Outdoor Pool Area is very nice
Review 58:Old building, only stair access to upper floors, squeaky floors, breakfast not included
Review 59:Great front desk staff, the grounds, great bed, quiet , great coffee/bakery across the street for breakfast
Review 60:The indoor and outdoor do not run at the same time. The breakfast price is outrageous for the quality. Our room had ants, wall paper was peeling off the wall and it was not updated. The heaters in the area outside were not working either.
Review 61:The pool was nice.
Review 62:As mentioned, the only hic was a plumbing problem that the staff readily remedied for us.
Review 63:We are a mountain bike club that came down to Cape Cod for an early season training camp, and the hotel served our needs almost to perfection. Centrally located to all of our training venues as well as the bike shops, with parks and other useful spaces all around. Although there was a water problem during our first night, the staff helped us out with alternative means to shower and clean up. The room set up allowed ample space for almost all of our needs and we will undoubtedly be returning for future events. The price was also hands down the best value for the size of our group and needs. The parking lot also provided ample space for our van and bike trailer.
Review 64:This is a perfect spot for a weekend away! There is a very nice pool, lots of outdoor space, and it's right across from all the ferries. Also within walking distance of Main St which has tons of shops and restaurants.
Review 65:Since it just opened, some things were not ready yet, like the indoor pool and hot tub not too hot, maybe forgot to turn on the lights at night. Finally, the mechanicals (plumbing, heating) were noisy.
Review 66:Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Looks to be updated not too long ago. We were there the first weekend they opened for the season, so the rooms were sparkling clean.
Review 67:Status of the property, the poor/unreliable wifi facility. To be fair it was the end of the season, understand they were closing the next week, perhaps the conditions will be improved.
Review 68:Location close to the waterfront Helpful staff
Review 69:After we checked in & got to the assigned room, the room key wasn't working; then the staff gave us a new key, we got in all right but the room was already occupied (luckily no one was there); we got a new room after the third trial. We were tired & upset.
Review 70:Location & Cleanliness
Review 71:It would have been helpful to have been able to have breakfast in the hotel. Not sure if this wasn't available due to it being near the end of season
Review 72:Amazing location opposite the ferry terminals for Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard
Review 73:Our room overlooked a parking lot at the back.
Review 74:Perfect location. Close to good restaurants, excellent one next door! Lovely pool area and fire pit. Enjoyed our stay!
Review 75:Staff seemed hurried and indifferent . Like looking behind you while you are checking in .... As in NEXT... Questions asked received a very direct yes or no answer . The hotel resturaunt was closed . Even if its a seasonal operation perhaps suggestions as to alternatives could be provided upon ck in .
Review 76:Location and size of rooms
Review 77:Faucet on bathroom sink was broken, shower drain was broken, hallway was dirty and after 3 different employtees knocked on our door to ask if we were leaving, they finally understood we had a late check-in for noon.
Review 78:I thought the hotel was very nice. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. The location was Excellent! Definitely will return again!!
Review 79:The feel of the indoor pool area was more of an old fashioned holiday camp, a little outdated. Distance from the supermarket/Main street, saying that it is only a 15 minute walk but mostly uphill so maybe an issue for older people without vehicular transport.
Review 80:Style of the reception and outside pool and garden area. Proximity to the ferry port and people watching from the verandah by the restaurant. Spacious room. Vending machine for provisions. Free use of computer in reception.
Review 81:Room pretty small Overpriced - we stayed off season and it was what I would expect the rate for high season to be They failed to tell us we need a parking pass or give us one when we checked in.... Then security guy threatened us with a ticket even after we explained we were not told we needed a pass and showed our room key.... AND we had provided our vehicle info upon check in too
Review 82:Location was great Nice outdoor pool area Housekeeper did a good job
Review 83:No Gym facilities. Parking $15 each day. Air Con bit noisy.
Review 84:Great location opposite the harbour with nice pool area. Good laundry facilities. Spacious bedrooms. 10 minute stroll to Main street and JFK Museum. Close to the black cat restaurant which was amazing. Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 85:Complained of children jumping in room above us and making lots of noise and nothing was done and no attempt to offer other accommodations was even made. Why would anyone put kids on the second floor, to irritate and create a terrible experience for the guests on the first floor!!!
Review 86:difficulty with door lock not opening properly on several occasions requiring the need to find the repair man to correct/open the door
Review 87:closeness to harnour
Review 88:The place is disgusting. Although it says in the internet and theirbrochure that all guest rooms are newly renovated, this is not true. Astaff memeber told me, renovation was 6 years ago. I would rather guess,it´s more then 10 years. The bathroom was in bad shape. Their was rust. But the worst was an incredible smell in the room, and especially in thecabinet (mold?). I skipped my booking and changed hotel after 1 night. Irecommend to avoid this hotel.
Review 89:The hotel is nicely located at the Hyannis Harbor.
Review 90:Bathroom cleaning needs a little more attention, corners are square not round and baths could be a lot cleaner
Review 91:Location Decent food in restaurant Good wifi connection Near good restaurants and shops
Review 92:Mattress could be more comfortable. Indoor pool always locked, had to wait for staff to open it. Had to pay for parking.
Review 93:Location is good. Nice indoor & outdoor pool. Decent on-site restaurant. Staff was helpful.
Review 94:No shuttle service but not necessary I think .
Review 95:The location was nice . Though the shop is little bit far but the airport is close . Lots of restaurant are very closely seen .
Review 96:hotel need upgrading; public spaces, hallways, carpeting is old Bar/restaurant not part of hotel - cannot makes charges to your room (had to go back to room to get money) $15/per night parking charge - might be ok if it was valet
Review 97:good location across from ferry - clean rooms
Review 98:Room was very small, water in the shower was always hot, as well as in the sink. Our keys unloaded thereselfs several times so we always had to go to the reception. Sometimes twice cause they repaired it and as we arrived at our room it didn't work again. But no apologies from the staff-they didn't care at all! All in all overpriced!
Review 99:Location is good, especially if you use the ferry. We had a small balcony.
Review 100:Fast check-in, clean spacious room and all the amenities you need. We stayed in an end room on the first floor and could park right in front of it. All staff were courteous and very helpful. We will definitely be back and would request the same room.
Review 101:"Greetings" at front desk. Loud air conditionning. Could not open window. Old carpets. Rowdy people at the pool. Poor bar service.
Review 102:Clean room
Review 103:The hallways are drab, not a/c, creating an initial impression thatyou are in a hi-hum motelLooks like they left them put of the renovation. Too bad.
Review 104:The location is ideal Accross from the Nantucket fast ferry. Thatboardwalk is lovely to stroll. The hotel offers plenty of convenientparking which is usually a rarity given busy summertime season. The roomwas huge, 2 large double beds very comfortable. The decor was adequate, nothing award winning but clean and pleasant. Large tv, little fridge, balcony overlooking a clearing. All in all an excellent value. Speciallygiven the fact that I could leave my car parked in the lot while off toNanticket, , for $15 a night. That's a great plus.
Review 105:Cheap bed, cramped room with musky smell, say room is harbor view when it's really pool view. charge $15.00 a day extra for parking, they didn't provide the extra needed code to start up wifi completely and oh yeah watch that first step in to the room, it's a loo loo.
Review 106:the location for the ferry to Martha's vineyard. The pool area seemed nice.
Review 107:Very convenient to everything. This hotel has everything you will need! It is located on a beautiful harbor and is right next to the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. I have already booked again for the end of the month!
Review 108:Bathroom never cleaned whole time we were there nor was room ever vacuumed. Pool was locked most times with chain lock and needed to be opened each time. Advertise for indoor and outdoor pool but don't tell you that they are not opened at same time. Indoor poor very dirty.
Review 109:Location to ferry, JFK memorial, beach and Main Street for shopping.
Review 110:The smell in our room..( stuffy/ mill do) it needs painting since you can't open windows or new rug and flooring in the bathroom.
Review 111:The outside decor..pool,bar,fire pit , location across from the ferry's as well.
Review 112:Hyannis is a quiet place, nothing for party people. You couldn't open the windows of the hotel rooms which leads to mould in the bathroom, staff was quite indifferent and not friendly. Nevertheless I would recommend the hotel esp. for day trips to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Review 113:Pool, restaurant at the hotel, location right at the harbour, beds
Review 114:I didn't like the hot tub - it had a yellow tint to it so I stayed away. The staff was friendly enough but could have offered much more advice in the way of activities. We figured it out ourselves. Very nice and courteous though.
Review 115:Loved that is was right across the street from the Ferry. I highly recommend a trip to Martha's Vineyard and renting the mopeds! Must do! Great location to beaches, history, food, and fun!
Review 116:Small bath. Musty smell in corridor rugs. (Room rugs were nicely shampooed and smelled clean)
Review 117:The location is great. The rooms are spacious but the hotel is showing some if the signs of its age. The room price reflects a high location premium. Most if the rooms do not have a sea or harbor view, especially the large extension at the back where we were given room 218
Review 118:Room walls need to be painted. Stained sheers need to be replaced. Need a bathroom vanity and/or Shelf for storage. Air Conditioning/Fan is situated low and blows right across the beds in your face. Street light shined in bathroom window into my face at night. Needed to keep the bathroom door closed. Never had to pay additional for parking during Hotel/Motel stay.
Review 119:Location was great. The Grounds were very nice. Beds Comfortable.
Review 120:Small room for price paid Website leads you to believe rooms are spacious and updated Very rude front desk attendant when checking in When reservations are made in advanced you should not rrive and be told there are only 2 rooms left-1 handicap room on the first floor in the back of the building and the other so small you can barely move around and has no updates with a door that does not close properly and TV remote that does not work!
Review 121:Rooms were a little dated but still clean and neat !! Bathrooms were tight.
Review 122:Fantastic location. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and neat !!! Quick walk to main st, restaurants, bars, beach, harbour and ferries. Loved the courtyard with fire pit and outdoor patio that overlooked the harbour. Indoor and outdoor pool very nice. Kids loved the DVD player in the room for movies at night. Can't wait to come back !!
Review 123:Booked room and did not get preference and delay in getting room changed during stay .no hotel information in room on arrival ..important for single Occupant.
Review 124:Location and pools and adjacent restaurant.room with view .
Review 125:Parking fee of $15. No fitness center. Part of the hotel was Difficult to navigate to, especially room #237..
Review 126:Hotel was near Hy-Line Ferry to Martha's.. Firepit. Pool. Restaurant on site. Friendly staff Balcony.
Review 127:Everything was as it was advertised we did not dislike anything
Review 128:The location was excellent, the pool and the pool bar were a great addition to our trip
Review 129:Paying $15/day to park.
Review 130:Location near JFK Memorial, pretty public beach, easy to drive to Provincetown and circle around the island, near several shops and restaurants.
Review 131:With no elevators, I was surprised one offered to help with luggage. Only window that opens is a tiny one in the bathroom. Bathroom lights too bright for night use. Would have been nice to have desk to work at.
Review 132:Staff was professional and efficient. Great location, central to so many local sights, shops and ferries. Bed was comfortable and nice to have DVD player and wifi in room.
Review 133:paying for parking cost to eat outside no handicap bar in shower, have elderly mother was afraid to use the tub
Review 134:great place with harbor close buy
Review 135:Great location to the ferry to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Nice restaurants within walking distance.
