Reviews for La Siesta Resort & Marina
Review 1:I requested a plastic cup in the evening and the front desk staff said I needed to go buy one at a store. I don't understand why they could not provide one from the breakfast supplies. Ice also needed to be purchased (a full bag!).Front desk staff was not very accommodating. If you are an all-suite resort, then at least have glasses/utensils in the rooms. The Keys in general are very overpriced.
Review 2:The room was recently renovated so it was quite nice. Kayaking was also great and the attendant for watersports was extremely nice.
Review 3:Our first room had no heat. We woke up to 65 degrees F. We were changed to a cottage, but no one offered to help with luggage. In the cottage there were no drinking glasses and no coffee maker. Breakfast was served out on the pool deck. It was cold and windy the first morning and pouring rain the second, so we missed that breakfast entirely. As it was cold and rainy, we weren't able to use any of the facilities except the pool. We did, however, have to pay a $50.00 "resort fee". Exorbitant, considering the room rate we were already paying. Not the quality of service or facilities we expected for the price.
Review 4:The large, airy, newly renovated room we stayed in the first night and the lovely little beach front cottage we spent our second night in. Beautiful pool, small immaculate beach.
Review 5:There was pubic hair in the shower from previous guest, the AC in our room had a very loud clunk and made it hard to sleep. Rooms advertised as "One Bedroom" are not actually a bedroom, they are a studio where the couch and beds and kitchen area are all in the same room. I did not like that the balconies from other rooms were adjoining to ours, making it easy for someone to get in our room if we forgot to lock the slider. The room also did not have a garbage pail, nor was there one on the grounds that we could find, so there was nowhere for us to throw things away.
Review 6:The room looked to be recently refurbished and the location was awesome. Loved the balcony, but wish it didn't connect to other rooms. The beds were comfortable and had very soft blankets. The room was more upscale looking than I was expecting, but wish it was cleaner.
Review 7:This resort recently re-opened (10 days before we arrived) and was still working through some kinks. Once the renovation is complete and all of the creature comforts are working reliably, this resort will be top notch. Luckily we had good weather, but the continental breakfast is served outside, so this could be problematic on rainy or stormy days.
Review 8:The beds in the villa were new and comfortable. The outdoor facilities were also very new and nice.
Review 9:As we were the very first people to arrive after the resort had re-opened there were obviously one or two teething problems, most of which were put right during our stay, i.e no T.V. / Wi-Fi, no refridgerator or microwave The breakfast area was a little chaotic, choice of food a little limited and sparse. The car parking was also a bit hit and miss and the large boulders that abound will surely come into contact with someone's motor vehicle before too long! Door to bathroom from Master bedroom could only open so far before coming into contact with the toilet, not enough room to allow wheechair access. It would make more sense to re-hang the door so that it opens into the bedroom. (Room 201)
Review 10:Idyllic location perfectly situated in the Florida Keys. An obviously very newly re-furbished resort to what no doubt will be, when completely finished, a high standard. Definitely a resort to which we will hope to return to in the not too distant future.
Review 11:Our cottage was not yet renovated but was spacious.
Review 12:Great location and amazing staff. It was in the middle of renovation and I can't wait to see the suites when they are updated.
Review 13:The location is perfect and it felt very calm to be there. We got upgraded to a bungalow house due to their renovation and it was amazing. Very spacious and clean. The pool was excellent and the views are to die for.
Review 14:The rain that you had no control over. Lucky it came at night. Just diverting water from 2nd floor that drenched us when we went up steps.
Review 15:Very pleasant stay. Brought cousins from europe who also were impressed. Had no real issues maybe updating flooring in future. Fix sliding glass door in 402 and divert water that comes from 2nd floor walk directly on 1st floor steps right in center during rain. Otherwise quite pleased and would return. Thank you to everyone.
Review 16:#1 No working telephone' 2 No Wi-Fi..... 3 Steep stairs and very#steep wheel chair ramp impossible if you have any handicap' 4 No#maid service, had to go find our own towels each day 5 Breakfast#available on pool deck only,if weather bad no breakfast...All these things were advertsed by Booking. com as available.....Bah !!!!!!!!
Review 17:Swimming Pool great especially for kids or disabled...Rooms large......
Review 18:The room was horrible. Our first room, the view was unbelievable. However the smell was unbearable! The carpet was soaking wet, the room smelled like fish and their were ants all of the counters. The second room was in serious need of remodeling. The front door had sand bags, the ants were all over the kitchen, the bathroom was dirty, the pull out couch was broken and the room smelled. Our children 10 & 16 shared the king size bed with us.
Review 19:The view is magnificent. The ocean breathtaking. Very relaxing outside!
Review 20:We weren't satisfied with lady-staff there, she wasn't professional at all. Property wasn't clean enough, old furniture, wasn't worth it for what we paid actually. We couldn't recommend it at all.
Review 21:It was not very clean not much cooking wear didn't appericate sharing my balcony with others for the price of 520.00 night not worth it no towels at pool ice ran out I asked house keeping for fresh towels they never came not very happy at with my experience
Review 22:This room is advertised to sleep 5. The pull-out sofa literally had an indentation in the middle of about 8-12 inches. It was absolutely unsleepable. We were in room 409. Also the office staff was rude on several occasions. Not sure we'll ever go back.
Review 23:We've stayed here many times over 20 years. Location is good.
Review 24:The rooms were very out dated.. No face cloths or hand towels.. Only two bath towels in the restroom..
Review 25:Way to much money for the room with a view... It's a nice place but the pictures are not a true statement of how the rooms or property looks like... The rooms need more maintaince and up grading if they want people to spend that kinda of money for a room...
Review 26:Microwave and hair dryer didn't work Few pieces of silverware No small saucepan Old furniture - bathroom fixtures Place needs complete overhaul Office staff disinterested and not helpful
Review 27:Water sport rentals Pool Location
Review 28:Our AC did not work correctly for the first couple of days (room was 78/79 degrees) and was promptly repaired once complaint was submitted. The phone in the room did not work. The refrigerator did not work properly (food on the top shelf froze). The beds were not very comfortable. Clean towels were not restocked promptly in the rooms nor did the pool provide towels. The breakfast was picked over unless there early in the am
Review 29:friendly staff, clean grounds, bug free, great views and atmosphere, great location
Review 30:The free breakfasts were a joke.
Review 31:The room was very nice and the amenities were great, even though we were told that the extra fee for the kayaks, bikes, etc. were going up.
Review 32:The beds were uncomfortable. Kitchen did not have enough supplies to fit our needs.
Review 33:Location was great! loved the pool and free Kayaks and paddle boards.
Review 34:Staff needs to inventory kitchen supplies on a regular basis - no coffee pot, broken electric can opener, 2 non-working stove burners, 2 pots and a small fry pan with 3 or 4 plates and cups (in a 3 bed unit, sleeps 8), sparse # of utensils. I realize that people rip this stuff off but with the daily resort fee being charged, an occasional run to the $store would be nice.
Review 35:Great location with boat docking facilities. Great pool for little ones. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
Review 36:Swimming pool was very crowded and several visitors present that were not following pool rules. Loud music playing from several different spots, alcohol in bottles at pool, and trash on tables and in pool area. It was a holiday weekend, but still would have been nice to have a more ideal experience since there wasn't really swimming beach access. That was my only complaint. Didn't seem to be monitored closel by staff.
Review 37:Friendly staff, free activities including paddle boarding, kayaking, and paddle boats. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Nice property with tropical feel. Would definitely go back and stay longer!
Review 38:Needed to be updated. The housekeeping supervisor actually came to our room to argue with me about towels. Customer service needs work.
Review 39:The maintance man was great. We had ants all over the kitchen and he did everything possible to help.
Review 40:Our first room had no gas to cook and our plan was to make dinner and lunches to save money. So they moved us after the first night which was a total pain but we then had a working kitchen. They knocked of our daily resort fee and offered our boat slip st no charge. They made it right as best they could. Friends have been coming for several years and this year wasn't the best.
Review 41:Location, pool area was nice. The place was clean.
Review 42:The pictures on the webpage did not reflect the reality at all The kitchenware was minimal and the kitchen gave the impression of not having being cleaned recently There was no possibility to buy a sandwich or similiar. A shame because the pool area and beach invited for spending time there during the day
Review 43:The beach and pool were both great A good place to stay if you don't want the rush of Key West during your whole stay
Review 44:No complaints.
Review 45:When we arrived to La Siesta we were greeted by their friendly staff who informed is that our room was upgraded free of charge. As we walked into our room with an amazing view to the ocean...it was like one of your commercials where my husband and I looked at each other and said "booking dot Yeah!" We will definitely be staying at this resort in the near future. Thank you.
Review 46:no beach, the furniture looked like stuff rejected from a thrift store, came no where close to the model in the web site ad. Breakfast was promised but stale pastry and coffee is not breakfast
Review 47:The pool, the paddle boarding, the pedal-boating
Review 48:Room was very dated, clean but dated. They need to put accurate pictures of each room up on their web site.
Review 49:Resort was close to several restaurants, and the on site kayak and jet ski rental was great.
Review 50:What I liked least was the water location. The water, like most in the keys, was filled with seaweed.
Review 51:The pool. We swam there every day. The zero entry, volleyball net, and basketball hoop were all nice features.
Review 52:here was nothing i didn't like except i wanted to stay longer!lol
Review 53:I was very impressed with the staff ,grounds and especially with the fact that whenever you wanted something it was included in your room no extra charge!Paddleboards< Kayaks<grills< fishing poles! we even had our own hammock in front of out cottage!!!
Review 54:The facility is a bit dated, it's sister resort, The Postcard Inn (about 4 miles away), has been renovating it's rooms and seems a bit more up-to-date. Hopefully this updating also happens to the La Siesta too...
Review 55:Great location, it's the Florida Keys, right on the beach close to everything we did.
Review 56:We were going fishing the day of check out and Were told beforehand we could have a late check out. Upon arrival the lady at the desk told us no way that was impossible that we not we could not come back and shower before airline departure.
Review 57:The kitchen wasn't equipped well, The only knife was very dull, and our coffee maker was broken, no dish cloths to wash dishes.
Review 58:the view and the pool
Review 59:Buy groceries coming in at Publix or Winn Dixie because once you pass Tavernier you will be spending $$$$$. Also, kitchen is SPARSELY furnished so being anything you think you'll need for cooking-including a grill.
Review 60:Location was very good. Skip the day trip to Key West though. Would have liked to have an on property restaurant/ bar. Need to let guests know up front that privileges include Paradise Cove and Postcard Inn-which has a great beach.
Review 61:The rooms, though they were very clean, they were shabby. In desperate need of updating! Mattresses were bad, especially the pull out couch. Kitchen was old but fulfilled our needs. Hard to recommend even though we had a great time.
Review 62:The setting of this resort is awesome. Beautiful and tropical location. The amenities were super. Bikes, paddle boards, kayaks, and fishing poles to use for free. Pool was great too! Our view was amazing!
Review 63:I put everything in the upper note.
Review 64:It was just a place to stop over night. The grounds were very bad, when I got out of my car there was nothing but a mud pool everywhere.
Review 65:Our air condition unit leaked. room stayed cool but do feel was not working properly.
Review 66:We like the family friendly feel. Great pool and grounds and kids loved free rentals. Loved size of room and large kitchen and gathering space. Enjoyed grilling and lounging out by the water and very clean grounds.
Review 67:Absolutely everything! We love the location, the staff, just everything. The suite is so perfect for our family...two adult children and divorced parents.
Review 68:Breakfast could've been better
Review 69:I went with my husband for our 10 year anniversary. For the money the room was huge ! A full kitchen and living room . I got the basic. Room too. The bed was awesome !
Review 70:Kayaks stop at 4 which is way too early, we didn't have a hammock and patio doors like all the cottages had. Didn't have toaster or grill. Quite pricey.
Review 71:Ocean front cottages very relaxing and private with own sunbeds etc, good kitchen, awesome comfy bed! Good pool, free kayaks and bikes etc, breakfast ok.
Review 72:No activities for old kids. Ping pong table or other games.
Review 73:With my husband we had a great time. Our children 17 and 20 were bored. Most people were there with young kids. If your kids are toddlers it is a great place.
Review 74:No hot water. When I checked out she stated she would tell maintenance, but offered no concession. Then charged the "resort fee" tacked on at end of visit (even if it was stated in the contract.) Don't understand why it isn't part of the room rate. Breakfast was slim and unappealing. Bagels, toast, muffins, cereal - all carbs except for some cold hard boiled eggs.
Review 75:Location was excellent. Property was nice. Room was clean.
Review 76:Only one small pillow per person on the beds & no pillows for the pull out couches. Not enough towels. You had to pay for ice.
Review 77:I liked the area & the view.
Review 78:Staff was very helpful and friendly, and the facilities were kept clean. Loved the balcony overlooking the ocean always with a warm breeze. For the price, it was well worth it.
Review 79:It would be nice to have a place to buy drinks at the pool.
Review 80:The rooms were large and clean. Having a kitchen in the room was nice. The location is great, and in the middle of everything.
Review 81:Kitchen wasn't well equipped and the fridge smelled of fish. Bought a box of soda to absorb the odor.
Review 82:Great view. Convenient location. Nice pool. Breakfast by the pool.
Review 83:Bed were really hard, saggy and uncomfortable. Lady at the front desk was rude, though the guys that did maintenance were amazing and friendly. Breakfast is very basic, breads, muffins, cereal, bananas, apples and hard boiled eggs.
Review 84:The pool was amazing there is a hot tub also. Our room which was poolside was also overlooking the ocean. The hotel is in a great location within a miles of many restaurants.
Review 85:having very loud people next door the whole night( not the hotel's fault) And having the front desk girl asking the people in front of me at check out how was their stay and come back again and all we got is sign here and thank you
Review 86:Everytihing was great, we loved the Kayaks, the pool, the breakfast, the room..
Review 87:Stayed in a beachside apartment with a fantastic view over the beach and dock. Good facilities and breakfast provided. Good restaurants nearby. Recommend eating at Wahoos over Whale Harbour marina.
Review 88:Had to leave resort to go to beach area for swimming. Not far and not really a problem. Views from resort made up for it.
Review 89:pretty surroundings, easy access to good restaurants, friendly staff
Review 90:I request late check out before arrive, around 1 week before, never get answer and when l request there they said no, always in others hotels l get late check out
Review 91:Location,location.
Review 92:Workers outside our door early talking and digging. Mattress pad which wouldn't stay on the bed without rolling.
Review 93:Convenience on our way to Key West and handy to our favorite restaurants.
Review 94:That I had to leave and get back to work!
Review 95:Pet friendly (tho I didn't have a pet with me), nice launch for boat, Beds were comfy, room layout, beach area,
Review 96:The kayak, bike, fishing pole rentals and continental breakfast are not free as described, there is a daily charge of $18 that they call a "resort fee" that was mandatory we agree to, which I thought was sneaky. The pullout sofa bed had a 2" mattress on it and was very uneven and broken. We called maintenance to fix it and they didn't, they just folded it away and told us not to use it. But there was no room for the 5th member of our party to sleep except the sofa bed. My daughter had to sleep on it all week and is now going to the chiropractor bc of this. It is not suitable to be slept on. A futon would have been better or a sectional with a real pullout mattress. We couldnt even sit as a family in one room together and enjoy each other's company. There was no "do not disturb" tag offered, if we didn't need service, AND there was no safe available in the room to put valuables/money while we were gone. No light in bathroom other than the one attached to the obnoxious fan on to wake everyone in the building.
Review 97:We enjoyed the simplicity of La Siesta. The pool and hottub were clean and welcoming. The breakfast was good, but wasteful. Styrofoam plates and bowls when there was a kitchen right there to wash real dishes. When we noticed the kitchen didn't have a canopener, large salad bowl, and colander while preparing dinner, we called the front desk and they found each item and delivered it to us. No blenders for tropical smoothies though, they said guests steal kitchen items, which is unfortunate.
Review 98:Peaceful, beautiful location with all amenities you could ever ask for in a keys resort. Staff was so helpful and friendly. We will definitely return.
Review 99:No on property restaurant. Hotel is only within walking distance to one restaurant. The channel leading into dock had not been dredged in a long time. Difficult to dock at low tide. Our room did not get cleaned one day while we were there and they only changed the sheets once.
Review 100:The grounds and pool are beautiful. Bike rentals and kayaks were always available.
Review 101:The fact that we were charged 18 dollars to use some of the things they had available like kayaks and bicycles. When we said we were only staying a day so we weren't going to use any, they said it was not optional and that it also covered the use of wi-fi, which is not true because wi-fi was included in the bill.
Review 102:The hotel is really lovely, the grounds beautiful, the rooms are big, the leaving room and kitchen have everything for a great family holiday.
Review 103:We - 3 adults - booked a so-called beach cottage the standard of which was low: there was no proper bed for the third person, furniture were mostly outworn, we had 2 ugly garbage containers without lid in the middle of the room, everything in the kitchen was rather sticky and without style (plastic cups and plates, non-matching cutlery), fridge and air-condition were awfully loud, wi-fi did not work, and - most impotant - there was no beach, no reasonable access to swimming in the sea.
Review 104:Location, wonderful views
Review 105:Furniture needs updating. Our girls were ate up by Noseeum's. (Sand fleas). I am sure this could of happened at any of the resorts.
Review 106:Great location. We enjoyed taking the Kayaks out and riding on the bikes.
Review 107:No beach chairs at all. We had to ask for wash cloths. Breakfast was marginal. But we did witness guest piling food and fruit on their plates to take home or back to their rooms for later, what's that about? I would have loved to have a banana or some sort of fruit in the morning. But they were wiped out.
Review 108:Bed was not good, a very tiny beach, probably it should not be advertised at all. Staff at the reception were indifferent
Review 109:Location was nice, place was clean
Review 110:Kitchen was not totally clean and was in need of updating. Bathrooms were clean but could also use some refreshing. With the understanding that the resort is not brand new, some simple refreshing could make all the difference.
Review 111:Bedrooms were roomy and comfortable. Balcony was nice as was view. Grounds are beautiful and well-kept; staff very friendly and welcoming.
Review 112:First time staying here but will certainly come back very nice and laid back staff was very pleasant and helpful at all times. My 2 sons took there jet skis and there was no problem using the dock. Only flaw which would make this resort a perfect 10 would be to have a Tiki Bar at or near the pool which I'm sure would make the resort a lot more revenue. : )
Review 113:The furniture in the rooms needs a severe update. I felt like i was staying in a college dorm as the furniture was all quite old and couch had a slipcover on it. If updated, the place would get a very high score, Staff was great and grounds were beautiful.
Review 114:The grounds were lovely. The pool and view of the ocean and palm trees from the pier was wonderful.
Review 115:Room smelled funny and typical continental breakfast. Not much of a beachfront but most places don't in the keys. Jet ski rental was rarely open. Out of 3 day stay saw it open once. Not sure if typical or short handed since they have 3 rental spots. Shared Blacony. Crazy prices that all places charge in the keys. Would have stayed in property more if it had a bar or restaurant or boat rental.
Review 116:Great view. Loved the property compared to most in the keys. Staff was nice. Upkeep was pretty good too especially property. Kayaks are free and jet ski rentals on property are convenient. Pet friendly is a big one. Half of the hotels are not. Huge balcony doors!
Review 117:bathroom was moldy and disgusting. Shower head was loose & open (really)! Couldn't turn knob to find warm water? Really?
Review 118:the pool. the beds were comfortable
Review 119:The beds were comfortable but furniture needs to be upgraded.
Review 120:The grounds were lovely, balcony overlooking the property, the the pool fabulous and open 24 hours. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 121:La Siesta didn't reserve us a room even though we booked 2 weeks in advance. When we gave them our booking.com booking number, they found it, but said, "They didn't put it in our system." I would personally call this place to verify your reservation because if we hadn't been "lucky" for them to have an open room, as they said many times, we would not have had anywhere to stay.
Review 122:Great location.
Review 123:The rooms with large patio windows (in the 3-storey building) are quite noisy due to the close highway traffic, the small beach is almost unusable.
Review 124:Nice facilities and services (laundry, kayak rental), clean pool area, clean surroundings, relaxed and very helpful staff.
Review 125:Wifi was slow but usable
Review 126:This is an older place but very well kept. Beautiful pristine beach. Pool was phenomenal. Kayaks and bikes were included with room and so easy to sign out and use. Staff was sooo friendly and accommodating ! This is the perfect key to base your stay.
Review 127:Didn't like the way the property was advertised by yourselves at a price where breakfast was supposedly included and then asked to pay an extra 18 dollars for the breakfast on arrival.
Review 128:No coffee in the rooms, which is a staple in every hotel I have stayed in. Went to lobby to get coffee and I was given one like it was gold. I felt like I was there for 3 nights he should have offered me 3 coffees. Two of the mornings it was raining would have been nice to have my coffee in house. Not much to make a guest happy. For folks that don't drink it that fine but when a guest ask for it, I think it should be provided. Paper towels were not provided either and I think they should be in a kitchenette. Thank you.
Review 129:Scenry was awesome, staff stayed busy with keeping area nice and neat.
Review 130:The furniture was a bit old and the sleeper couch didn't work. Which staff next day let us check out a couple hours late in exchange for the hard nights sleep night before.
Review 131:Service! staff made sure we were very happy. and went out of thier way to serve. Loved the kayaks which were free with the price of the room. And the convienence of fishing right out back, doesn't get any more convienant than that.
Review 132:The furniture in the room was very limited and very uncomfortable. And the lounge chairs by the marina (blue lounge chairs) need to be replaced. Most were ripped and broken.
Review 133:Great pool! The kayaks, fishing poles, and bikes were available for free and kept my kids occupied. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A great place to relax. The grounds were very well kept. Our room was very big and spacious.
Review 134:No coffee pot in room
Review 135:Cleanliness
Review 136:some furnishings not completed
Review 137:very clean and new renovations done
Review 138:housekeeping could be better
Review 139:Beautiful place everybody was very friendly
