Reviews for Hotel Molokai
Review 1:I returned one night and there was no parking available. Fortunately an hour later a staff member left and I was able to take her spot !
Review 2:Convenient location to access either side of the island.
Review 3:Beach by the hotel is not good for swimming. You need a car or other kind of transportation to get to the nice beaches.
Review 4:Very nice staff, good food (but expensive) and beautiful view form the ocean view room. Relaxing time :-)
Review 5:Needs a little TLC and it will polish up beautifully.
Review 6:Great central location. Is showing its age but is clean and tidy and more than suited our needs. A tap was faulty during our stay and it was immediately fixed with no fuss. I would definetly recommend Hotel Molokai.
Review 7:Hotel Molokai is right on the water and close to town. We had a room with a kitchenette and deck. The beds were comfy and the room was well furnished. The staff was friendly and the food in the restaurant was good. The bar is a fun place to hang out and meet other guest and some locals.
Review 8:Canoe hire would be more attractive on an hourly or half day basis rather than full day only.
Review 9:A great place to relax and unwind with a good vibe in the restaurant. We enjoyed the music of some excellent local musicians during our stay who played during dinner and in the late afternoon. This was very enriching.
Review 10:because wheat her was humid, a one fan is not enough. In my opinion, there is a need for two fan and ceiling type.
Review 11:Location Was the best, when visiting for a one day stay. The view from the morning while having coffee was awesome, to see it was breath taking.
Review 12:Our mistake to book a room without air con, just didn't realise we had done so. Cooked during the night. For the money all rooms should come with air con
Review 13:Lovely location near the ocean
Review 14:Wi-Fi was sketchy at the location of my room. Staff had no real answers for me. In their defense the wi-fi is sketchy all over Molokai..
Review 15:Friendliness of staff was great. Only had one staff member who was having a bad day.
Review 16:Just a shame that their restaurant is back up and running yet (they had a fire a few years ago).
Review 17:The hotel was the best bit of Molokai. Cute little self-catered room withna huge comfortable bed. We had loads of fun sitting up at the bar drinking amazing cocktails ($5-8). We got to meet other guests as well as some locals. Molokai is a very quiet island and a day would have been enough, the hotel thankfully gave us that little bit of fun and entertainment we needed!
Review 18:It would have been nice to have a fan near the beds, it was a couple of very hot nights.
Review 19:The friendliness of the staff, especially Lulu, the bartender.
Review 20:I would give it a 5 star if the restrurant was open. I know it's under construction. Can't wait to visit when done! Pool, bar, grounds and staff were very nice !!
Review 21:Beds were a little uncomfortable and I'm usually not that picky.Drainage in the bathtub sucks. A/c drainage puddled on the lanai sodidnt enjoy the lanai at all. Thats it! Everything else was good
Review 22:Will stay here again just because of the valet parking only. I hatehaving to find parking in tight stalls at orher hotels and the parkingcharges is the same as any other hotel... Staff are fricken awesome!!!!
Review 23:The bed was way too small and they charge a service fee for wifi but it didn't work the entire time. When I asked for a refund for the service fee they refused to give it. They also wouldn't give me a kamaaina rate (which is a lot cheaper) even though I provided proof I have been living and paying taxes in the state for over 3 years.
Review 24:Had a nice outdoor setting.
Review 25:No place to eat (restaurant) . Too much noise on upper floor you can hear the people walking and banging around at nights.
Review 26:Location and easy to get to. Comfortable and clean.
Review 27:The bed is ridiculously uncomfortable. I felt like my back was going to snap in half because I kept sinking into the mattress and it seemed like my body was being tipped to one side. The glare through the front door was really distracting and made it impossible to start falling asleep for at least an hour after going to bed. The bathroom door has a stupid feature, which is that it's too small (there's a gap at the bottom so you can see the other person's feet when they're on the toilet seat). This made the feel of the place awkward and conveyed a lack of privacy. Also, the bathroom has a shutter that blocks out none of the noise outside, which means that anyone who walks near your room can hear you doing your business.
Review 28:The beach is lovely, as is the general area.
Review 29:Molokai has very few restaurants so you might be better off with a condo instead of a hotel room at this property. There is no internet in the rooms at this property, and indeed the cell signal (both AT&T and Verizon) is so poor we couldn't access any data via phones either. There is 1 free computer with internet in the lobby which is shared by all guests. Of course, ideally, you are visiting Molokai without the need to be connected. In which case none of the above will matter.
Review 30:I enjoyed the homey-ness of this hotel. The units were clean and sufficiently equipped. The continental breakfast was nothing fancy, but was nice to have coffee and a pastry to start the day since closest restaurant is about 2 miles away.
Review 31:Our only issue was hearing through the walls.
Review 32:There are not too many hotel choices on this island. This hotel was close to their main town. The staff is very friendly.
Review 33:Beach was useless, but that's not the hotel's fault. If you want to get to beaches you have to go to the west side. But the west side is empty, and that's just the way Molokai is. Molokai is a place to get away, and meet friendly people and see interesting sites, not to lie on the beach. Enjoy the people, and Molokai's interesting history.
Review 34:Overall very good.
Review 35:No comment
Review 36:The staff was kind and accommodating. We dropped off our bags early, which they watched all day so we could take the mule ride to Kalaupapa. I would use Hotel Molokai again! Wish we stayed longer.
Review 37:The room was very hot without air conditioning. 3 inch cockroaches were seen in the room on 2 of the 3 nights of our stay. The breakfast fare was very disappointing.
Review 38:The staff was welcoming and friendly.
Review 39:No privacy, no AC, Loud being right next to the bar, no cellphone service but free WIFI.
Review 40:Location was great. Staff was friendly.
Review 41:Nothing!
Review 42:Beautiful hotel on a beautiful island. Great staff. Lovely rooms. Nice restaurant with fantastic views. Lovely
Review 43:No anonymous and stereotype Hotel Resort like all the others, but charmingly simple with its own wonderful character; lovely and very friendly staff.
Review 44:Bed was horrible! Woke up with a backache! Overpriced for such an experience.
Review 45:Friendly staff
Review 46:Lack of air conditioning in the room
Review 47:Location, front desk was very helpful and live music in the bar (Aloha Friday)
Review 48:Loved the place
Review 49:The room was horribly hot. No ventilation. Maintenance installed a second fan but didn't help much
Review 50:Cockroaches in the room, beware!
Review 51:Closed restaurant
Review 52:Our room was wonderful, 128. Staff friendly. Couldn't ask for nicer atmosphere pool/bar area. Very relaxing
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:Fell inove with this place.
Review 55:No air-condition in the rooms.
Review 56:It was a nice cozy hotel.
Review 57:Nice hospitality
Review 58:no restaurant for dinner was available
Review 59:Convenient for my stay, bar at beach front was great
Review 60:No air conditioning
Review 61:Nice clean room for decent price
Review 62:Friday's Kupuna Night at the bar.
Review 63:Breakfast
Review 64:Location, setting
Review 65:It's not conventional style...
Review 66:Ac took too long to get cold
Review 67:Costumer service
Review 68:a very small bed for two
Review 69:It's on the beach and near the town. Overall it was OK.
Review 70:Friendly people.
Review 71:this was my second stay here and I definitely missed the restaurant at the hotel.
Review 72:the staff was friendly, polite and helpful. the hotel and grounds were beautiful
Review 73:contental breakfast a little cheap
Review 74:this hotel was what you invension a hawaiian island cottage would look like & on the water / every body was curtious
Review 75:1. No breakfast to room 2. Waited for at least an hour to try to check in as reception woman helping another guest with tour organising. She should have made the others wait 5 mins, check me in and then returned to their complex tour arranging requests. Left as could not get served and came back hours later. If I had not already prepaid would have gone elsewhere to stay. Then when leaving I advised had prepaid via Booking.com and they had not received this payment so was made to pay via credit card for the second time. Very poor experience checking in and out. Would not return to this resort for these reasons
Review 76:Location on the beach Cocktails by the pool Room good and clean
Review 77:we loved the vibe of this place - like a retro tiki bar. Location was perfect for exploring the island. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We even got to have a drink and chat with the general manager Michael one of the night's we stayed there. Rooms were comfortable and cute. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 78:Pitiful continental breakfast; wi-fi went down when winds picked up; a hotel of this type should be priced around $150 per night rather than $190.
Review 79:Comfortable room; eat-in facilities; convenient to town center.
Review 80:Quite pricey for amenities offered. Pool not open early morning. No beach. No restaurant. No other choice for hotels though.
Review 81:Very Hawaiian ambience. Comfy bed. Flat screen TV . Kitchenette. Nice grounds. Good coffee and cinnamon buns in am. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 82:My bed cover had a big yellow stain on it... Sometimes things don't come out in the wash but it just didn't look very good Mosquitos could get in your room as there's gaps between the blinds so even though I was careful with keeping my doors closed I got bitten to death! The 'continental' breakfast was basically doughnuts and more doughnuts which I wouldn't call a continental personally The hotel doesn't have a restaurant to serve proper food. So because your rooms only have a microwave unless you want to live off sandwiches you have to take a 2mile walk to town
Review 83:Staff were very friendly Rooms a good size Pool bar entertainment was great
Review 84:No restaurant (had been advertised); uninterested staff (except for gm);tv not working; etc.
Review 85:Central location made it easy to get to town and other places onthe island
Review 86:Without hiring a car it is difficult to get around the island. When the hotel restaurant re opens, it will make meals much easier!
Review 87:Molokai is a picturesque paradise and a not-so-mainstream gem. If you are looking for something away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki where you can truly relax and enjoy some stunning views, Molokai is the island for you. The locals are lovely, the staff are very accommodating and it is a place to truly unwind. Very authentic Hawaiian experience.
Review 88:At the moment they don't have a restaurante, because there was afire, but they gonna rebuild it, in May 2013, this hotel will be aperfect place!
Review 89:Very good, room, tv...
Review 90:The polynesian style units were very attractive in a setting of well maintained flowering shrubs and trees. The beach location included views of breaching humpback whales, beach crabs in their highwater homes and fish hunting herons. Low tide exposed marine crabs and cowries on the lava-rock wall of the adjacent 800 year old fishpond. Great bar and restaurant staff with quality food and drink. Loved it all!
Review 91:Everything was just Great...would come back everytime!
Review 92:Pretty modest accommodations. Expensive for a very basic room.
Review 93:Simple breakfast buffet (cinnamon buns, papaya and coffee/tea).
Review 94:Clean and comfortable room.
Review 95:This was Not your fault but many many noisy school students,so uncomfortable!!!
Review 96:I liked a bed, very comfortable. bar with nice view.
