Reviews for Cape Panwa Hotel
Review 1:There are no lifts at all in this hotel, it is all stone stairs, which when you are on the top floor can become a little trying, particularly in 90 degree heat!
Review 2:Beautiful hotel but the location is off the beaten track, the beach is not very good and everything closed down very early, whilst we are 60, we do not need to go to bed at 9.30pm! It needs a late casual bar where you can hang out at the end of the day. However staff were fabulous and room was good although the hotel is a little tired.
Review 3:Only niggle we had was the service charge added onto EVERY bill - I don't think ordering a drink from a bar warrants a service charge! Also they add VAT on top of the menu price which was weird for us. Menu price should be price you pay and service is optional!
Review 4:After travelling for 3 months through Asia this hotel was a dream! Our room was AMAZING! Although this hotel is far from cheap you get what you pay for as the facilities, rooms and views are incredible. Breakfast was wonderful and we also had a few nice dinners from room service. It was our 5 days of luxury before a month in a campervan in New Zealand and we don't regret a penny of it! Great little shuttle to nearby town with restaurants and night markets but we mostly spent our days by the lovely pool. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Review 5:Pros - clean, spacious rooms. Nice beach. Secluded area of Phuket, far from maddening crowd, nice food at cafe next to pool. Cons - Service can be better. Staff didn't seem genuinely happy, service was inconsistent, at times the staff seemed frustrated with us over simple requests - I think it was over their poor understanding of English, which is not really their fault. Hotel facilities was basic, i had expected more. Sea sports cost extra, only canoeing was free.
Review 6:Great service, facility, and food! We had ants in our original room but they upgraded us to a suite free of charge! Very nice of the manager. Customer service is superb! The free breakfast is like a buffet.
Review 7:I have a hatred of patronising guests who fake friendship to gain favours. Sadly, some were doing this to reserve pool loungers. It's unnecessary and unfair on the staff and other guests.
Review 8:A lovely hotel. We upgraded to a Cape Suite. Our initial Junior Suite was in another block and quite a walk from the main areas. It was perfectly adequate for the money but we wanted a better view and it was well worth doing. The staff were incredibly efficient and friendly throughout our stay. The colonial style Panwa House was a magical place to eat and the food was incredibly good value considering the location. More than the average Thai restaurant but still half the price of those in the UK. Highly recommended. Cocktails in the Lighthouse Bar during happy hour are a must. The shuttle bus to the sister hotel was excellent.
Review 9:We booked for a special meal in the Top of the Reef Restaurant. After asking for a 9pm table we were asked by the manager if we could come earlier (I think because the restaurant had no other bookings in its diary and wanted to close early) when we arrived at 9 we were refused entry because I was wearing tailored shorts casual shoes and a proper shirt with a collar which I believed to be the required smart casual dress code, especially in a beach resort. I was embarrassed and angry. This has never happened in any other beach resort I have visited and it ruined our evening and an otherwise lovely hotel
Review 10:The Cape suit
Review 11:Some scum on sea one day.
Review 12:Amazing views, good free wifi, free shuttle to other side of peninsula and aquarium. Panwa House, old sino portuguese house makes a great restaurant. Good private beach. Little train to beach.
Review 13:The smell in the room was absolutely not Ok, coming from the air condition system. Very much noise from the Chinese guests, couldn't sleep till late in the night.
Review 14:Well is not the first time we have stayed in cape Panwa. We have been going there for the past few years. We always ask for two adjoining rooms so it will be easy with our kids. Booked 2 Junior suits and we got upgraded to one and downgradaded on the other one. But when I booked on your website a normal room was not an option. We had to call three times to get the room made up and yet it wasn't done even after our lunch. And this was a low season for the hotel.
Review 15:The location and the breakfast was good. The staff is OK.
Review 16:No options for muslims in breakfast.
Review 17:Location, comfort, helpful staff and even though hotel is far, transportation provided by hotel made things very easy.
Review 18:The stones at the shore.the hotel is very far from the airport, about one hour by taxi.
Review 19:The in suite room jacuzzi pool. The staff was very kind and helpful. The views. The international restaurant food quality. The wifi. The environment.
Review 20:Location, there should be more things to do in the hotel at night time since its very far from the city center. Staff needs to understand and talk better english, Food items in actual are differant than menu discrption but still tasty
Review 21:Staff is very helpful, Cable-Car idea is wonderful, Italian Resturant is great, room-service is great,
Review 22:Our room smelled like mold/mildew quite badly. We informed staff at reception the next morning (as had four more nights) but nothing was done to address this. Several of the staff presented as unhappy/jaded/abrupt/dismissive - an absolute contrast to our experiences in other Thailand hotels.
Review 23:We stayed in a junior suite with balcony that had great view on level two. The food at Andaman restaurant was lovely. It was nice to have private beach, and the nearby Bamboo Bar for a cocktail.
Review 24:The chair on our balcony had tilted legs and we didnt even dare sitting on it as it might just give way anytime. One side of the bathroom door was Stuck and only aft 3rd day did someone come over to fix it but then again we didnt highlight it to the staff So must have bn housekeeping tht noticed it. Not sure if the balcony area is cleaned everyday as the tissue that was on the floor stayed there till check out time
Review 25:Friendly attentive staff especially a young lady named Fon at the reception. Shes very approachable and quick to assist.
Review 26:Poor wifi which was not free in the rooms, some staff had poor customer service skills, food was poor quality in the restaurants and food and drink were expensive. Also as location so far away from most tourist attractions travel costs were very high especially hotel taxi
Review 27:Room was nice and big
Review 28:thaifood buffet true that it's inexpensive but choices and taste is below average , swimming pool are too old the hotel can do much better, the grumpy lady at fruit stand
Review 29:the old house by the beach, my room view, service, thai dancing show at dinner buffet great entertainment
Review 30:Breakfast was fantastic but the dining area got very busy and it was difficult to find a seat.
Review 31:The hotel setting was beautiful with easy access to the beach via a handy little tram. The staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 32:Female Staff at the restuarant at the wed dinner. They concentrated more on male and white people. arent we paying the same amount of money. is my money nit goid enough for the hotel. It is sad but in thailand I guess it is a common practice. Please do something about it. Thank you.
Review 33:Beach and the room.peace and quiet.
Review 34:The renovated part of the hotel still looks a little tired compared to the new blocks. At times the beach is crowded and there are not enough sun beds for everyone. It is a nuisance in this day and age not to be given free wifi in the rooms.
Review 35:This hotel is secluded and offers good vale for money. The rooms are spacious with all the facilities you need. The private beach is good as is the main hotel pool. The restaurants within the complex offer a range of food at very competitive prices.
Review 36:Hotel over selling! Run down screaming for refurbishment! URGENT REVAMP NEEDED Hotel claims 5 star, MISLEADING! Linen old Furnishings old and run down Finishes old and run down Great but nothing special
Review 37:Great location Good restaurants Great breakfast Good cleaning room services Quiet small town Great private beach
Review 38:Not a baby friendly hotel. Very difficult to get from a to b with a stroller. Entrance to hotel is via a very very steep hill. Again not good for families with young children or those with mobility problems. Therefore felt a bit cut off.
Review 39:Free room upgrade Breakfast was good Private beach
Review 40:Very limited scope for eating outside the hotel. Only two restaurants in village, one Indian and one Thai (both good).
Review 41:Location and comfort. Restaurants in hotel.
Review 42:THE WIFI COSTS 50B PER DAY! For 5-star it's nonsense, even in some hostel you get a free Wifi these days. Also we had a problem with the rain shower, but we did not manage to explain it without the video of the problem (leaking cold water). And even after that the problem was not fixed. The conditioner is a bit loud and with the strange animals shouting outside it makes it hard to sleep.
Review 43:Breakfast was very rich and well served. Staff was helpful, but sometimes it was hard to explain things in English. V-wing has a good parking facility. The beach is quite close and has a handy tram there and back. Overall - quite decent for a 4-star hotel.
Review 44:The weather was not great and it may well be more wet there as it is surrounded by hills. There could be more pool loungers as has been suggested by others and it was a shame that the beach bar wasn't finished.
Review 45:The location is lovely as it is in it's own private beach. Once the beach bar is built it will be great.
Review 46:The wifi is chargeable! My room is junior suite and actually quite a distance from the lobby.
Review 47:If you looking for quiet, relaxing holiday then this is right for you.. They have free shuttle to the nearby town(5mins away), Sri panwa just about 10mins away which you can go for chill by the pool! Amazing view.
Review 48:We stayed here 4 days part of our honeymoon. Service, people, staff, location and food was excellent. Although there was reformation at the hotel, it did not interfere with anything. Very well thought out hotel. Not recommended for people looking for parties, but perfect for romance, visiting phi phi and other popular islands, families and older people. We were given a complimentary honeymoon cake and offered free trip to coral island. This hotel is perfect!!!!
Review 49:Nothing much really, apart from the exterior of the hotel looking a little tired
Review 50:The hotel was lovely albeit a little tired in places. The buffet breakfast was about the best we have every had the amount of choice was awesome. The room were large with a balcony and the maid service was really good. There was some work going on in the grounds of the hotel so the hotel provided complimentary drinks and nibbles between 5-6 each day in panwa house on the beach. There was also a free boat trip to coral island as an apology, but to be honest the work didn't really bother us at all.
Review 51:Nothing at all.
Review 52:I love everything Staff all helpful specialy "Fone-Rain" nick name girl.she is ready to help 24 hours.service best very fast.location amazing if u like quit place. By the way bottom of Phuket is very beautiful and better than busy Patong.we stay 3 days and i wish to stay more cause I am in love with Cape Panwa Hotel.
Review 53:A little pricey compared to other hotels within Phuket. The hill getting to the hotel is horrific when walking up and down it! Not much in the local area to do
Review 54:Nice friendly staff who were knowledgable and happy to help, very relaxed feel about the hotel
Review 55:Late one evening the bar wouldn't let me sit inside as I had flip flops on. A Computer says no manager. Instead I had to sweat it out outside which was a shame when the whole place was empty.
Review 56:Good breakfast and when I came to check I had booked the weekend after. They promptly changed and upgraded us. I will definitely be going back.
Review 57:Too much to get to the beach
Review 58:Attitude, View, Staff
Review 59:Staff, view, beach
Review 60:Lovely hotel. Has it all. Staff were warm welcoming and helpful
Review 61:The 2 bedroom pool villas are divine
Review 62:Nice beach and duty manager Marck!
Review 63:Great private beach, one lf the best in Thailand.
Review 64:Very comfortable and sleep well with many restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner. The staff is very friendly
Review 65:Hotel is on the high hill and very far from tourist places. Taxi is relatevly more expensive
Review 66:Good staff, nice beach, wifi on the beach
Review 67:Not the best place for party animals... more for family, romantic, etc...
Review 68:Nice hotel, nice beach, good breakfest.
Review 69:Everything is perfect. Great place. Nice beach. Good food with lots of choices. Love this hotel. Will be back soon.
Review 70:Our room is old room, the room need to be renovated, aircondition is noisy.
Review 71:Peaceful, quiet
Review 72:Perfect location with superb private sheltered beach. Near village with good restaurants and shops. Best wedding venue I have ever seen.
Review 73:Staff ever so friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable.
Review 74:nothing
Review 75:everything
Review 76:Nothing!
Review 77:Very helpful/nice staff Great location Private beach Great dining/bar options
Review 78:The hidden charges of the 'NYE' party
Review 79:Price of drinks way too dear. Left cask of wine on room Disappeared Not happy
Review 80:No free wifi in the room.
Review 81:I really love the beach of the hotel and the sunrise view is really beautiful.
Review 82:Beautiful beach, sunrise view is superb, helpful staff, and lovely hotel decoration
Review 83:Classic resort so much area to walk and with own very large beachfront
Review 84:not to say a word about it
Review 85:reception to check-out
Review 86:Everything was okey The service the beach Free to go to coral island The light house with the life band The breakfast
Review 87:Not the best place for wild entertainment. More of a honeymoon resort away from towns.
Review 88:Stunning location Good facilities
Review 89:It is a hotel where my family and I have been going for years. Our children did enjoy very much. And we shall come back again soon.
Review 90:It's a little bit far from everything.
Review 91:The hotel is very confortable, good staff.
Review 92:The whole description of the premises on booking.com was misleading. As a so called resort it was the last resort. The facilities for a supposed, and self rated, 4 star establishment were very poor. We paid for 1 night under duress and went to the Cape Panwa which we had stayed at previously. This is not a 4 star hotel, nor is it a resort. It is two blocks of rooms surrounding a pool and a restaurant and bar.booking.com should not allow self-rating and description of premises without checking the veracity of the description.
Review 93:The staff with poor English tried hard. Especially the young lady manager who did her best to help us relocate when we did not want to stay at the so called resort.
Review 94:Nothing.
Review 95:Beautiful hotel and beach, food was great. Buffet at panwa house was fantastic, on the beach at night, couldn't get better. Stunning setting. Seafood restaurant was great. Coral island is a must. Will be back. Thank you so much cape panwa hotel for the room upgrade, it made our wedding anniversary one to remember. Loved the fact that the beach sunbeds are under the palm trees and not on the beach.
Review 96:Checked in quite late. A couple of hours later decided to go to bed, just to find out that they had made the bed without changing bed sheets, which was full of human hair. We called the reception. They came and checked. They agreed. They did NOT apologize. After 30' they sent someone to change them.
Review 97:Wi-fi was free in public areas, but was poor reception. Wi-fi in bedrooms could be purchased for 250 Bhat for 24 hours.
Review 98:The staff was very hospitable, catering to needs of visitors. Breakfast buffet was delicious
Review 99:It took 55 Minutes to get checked into room, because they saidBooking.com reservation did not come through to the front desk staff. Wehave a 4 month old baby that needed feeding and they put us in an officewith little privacy.
Review 100:Beach location, gardens, views
Review 101:Nothing didn't like. Every thing was amazing.
Review 102:It was one of the best hotels I stayed in all my trips. Amazing views very nice room clean and comfort. Staff very friendly. The beach is amazing and the Jacuzzi in the balcony is amazing. Food is nice and good variety and the Italian Restaurant is very good. With a special thanks to the front desk manager and employes for the very nice service during the check out and check in and during the stay in the hotel.
Review 103:Hotel restaurants a bit pricey though good. (You don't need to eat there all the time, there are options in the villages.)
Review 104:Our third time to stay there - a great place. Cape Suite big and very comfortable, hot tub on the big balcony a plus. Away from the centre but not isolated (shuttle bus to village, hotel bus to various places). Great breakfast spread.
Review 105:I f you ate or bought anything in the hotel there was an extra 17%placed on top of prices quoted due to service charges and taxes. Thiswas unknown to us at first and I think should be included on menuprices etc,
Review 106:A nice quiet spot within Phuket with everything you need at yourfingertips. I enjoyed all the facilities and the quiet, private beach. The room was comfortable and clean.
Review 107:The building could do with a few repairs on the cracks and aging paint.
Review 108:Service recovery: upgrading us to a suite after giving us the key to an occupied room.
Review 109:The staff need to have a bit more knowledge of places to visit, though they do have a dedicated person to do during business hours.
Review 110:I loved the good sized beach it as it is rare to find a beach in Phuket. There was a train to take you up and down the beach so you didn't have a steep climb. The food was very good and breakfast overlooking the sea and good seletion of fresh food. Dinner at the beach is a must as it is so romantic. Lovely reception area. Good price per night. Very clean. Good service and the team remembered you. Transport up and down the steep hill to sister hotel on the promenade.
Review 111:• Most of the staff had negative attitude, poor English and communication, the famous Thailand friendliness and smile were missing. • Most of the activities facility is poorly maintained or unavailable • Food quality and taste was a big disappointment for a 5 five star hotel • Internet connection is complicated, time consuming, unpractical and unjustifiability expensive • A 5 Star hotel with 3 star services
Review 112:the view the location the rooms
Review 113:The staff weren't particularly attentive at reception, the main dining area, or the beach activities office. Certain areas of the hotel were 'tired' and in need of some attention.
Review 114:The location was stunning. Hot tub on the balcony. Free shuttle bus service down the hill to the restaurants, shops etc...
Review 115:beach was sometimes polluted after the storm. the hotel staff should work to make beach clean.
Review 116:we loved concept of rooms excellent. we stayed at cape suit. jakuzi on the balcony was so enjoyable when you're looking great ocean view. listening great live music is possible when you're having in the andaman bar. I'm offering you to have thai massage at the spa building.
Review 117:Poor breakfast. No replacement for the finished dishes. Poor facilities in both beach and pool. A lot of broken parasols and chairs. Poor service, staff don't smile and very stressed during rush time, don't even help to find a seat in the restaurant. Poor spa treatment, the 70 min massage is actually 30 min sort of massage and 30min bath...I will definitely not recommend this hotel !!!
Review 118:Great location and sea view Quiet place, not crowded
Review 119:Staff was not organized their English was not that great. The place needs major updating. Did not appreciate the open air restauraunt . In the morning I had to compete with birds at the breakfast buffet. Not very healthy.
Review 120:You could not beat the views,no matter what room you were in.
Review 121:The equipment of the gym kind of old, and air conditioning blowing coldaair straight on your back while you're on the trademill...not thebest thing! Also, the restaurant by the beach, whe you would have lunch, has a really slow service, and not a great variety of food (but all theother restaurants are great!). Also, some sunbeds and sun umbrellaswould need ...be changed with brand new ones. However, these are reallyminor issues in the whole picture.
Review 122:The location is really quite, and the private beach a paradise on earth.Excellent food, spacious, lovely room, very good shuttle service to themain sites and attractions of the island. You're far away from thecrowded areas of the island, very peaceful and...excellent spa atreasonable prices!
Review 123:Don't eat at restaurant "Maasdee" restaurant serves cat!!There was only one restaurant near Capa Panwa hotel that did not belongto the hotel. The restaurant was every day full with european people, itis on the corner of the busstop of the hotel on the boulevard, and thename is called like Maasdee (I don't know exactly because there wasno name on the invoice)!! I ate there with my children, I ordered acheeseburger and with eating the cheeseburger I felt something hard inmy mouth, I took it out and it appeared to be a cat nail. The owner andwaitress denied, but I am sure it was a cat nail. I took pictures, unfortunately I cannot post them at Booking. So don't eat there!!
Review 124:Cape Panwa is a good hotel, and my negative point has nothing to dowith cape Panwa hotel. But it is very important that tourists mustbe warned!!
Review 125:- Ancient beach resort, totally isolated, no other restaurants or attraction around, guests are force to eat in resort restaurants or take a paid shuttle bus to Phuket City; - The clientele predominantly comprises older guest - pensioner, and younger clients might find it dull and boring; - Unfriendly, unhelpful and uniformed hotel staff; if you ask too many questions on local attractions, other services, etc. the reception staff is of no help; - Room cleaning service could work harder to keep rooms clean; lots of old dust in drawers; - Beach is unkept and unclean - broken glass, plastic bottles and other trash littering it. You have to literally fight for old sunbeds & umbrellas; beach staff not helpful at all, unlike in other 5* hotels.
Review 126:Nice and well equipped suits.
Review 127:Airconditioning in the villa rooms did not work properly and bathrooms had fishy smell.
Review 128:Excellent location- very close to the beach and pool villa was good
Review 129:One of the beach bar female staff is quite rude. I guess she prefers westerners that asians :(
Review 130:The room is very spacious and nicely decorated for our honeymoon :)
