Reviews for Dunham's Bay Resort

Review 1:smell of deordorizer or something, Would be nicer if closer to strip area of Lake George and restaurants etc. Said it had a pool etc. but was closed off with cover although inside pool. Staff seemed a bit cold.

Review 2:Near the lake Room ok

Review 3:What's the point to live and serve your guests near the Lake if u are not allowed to step on the beach and even take a pic as some man on the beach said "its closed, the beach is private, you're not allowed to be here" even if its beach from Dunhams Bay and u live in this resort!! I know that it is october, but people, they said "come for fall foliage near the lake"..?!

Review 4:Location and lake

Review 5:Rooms a little tired and needed updating. Our first room (suite) felt damp so we asked to move. Our next suite (4 of us) was much better and had 2 bathrooms but was under-equiped. We needed to ask for 2 extra lamps, an extra chair (there were only 3), more coat hangers - all sorts of little things. However they were all brought with a smile from the staff.

Review 6:Very helpful staff - nice quiet location next to Lake George and boat hiring facility. Useful kitchenette. Beds comfortable. Lots of activities for kids.

Review 7:Brunch on Sunday was not that good

Review 8:Loved everything there ..bar,location,room,hot tub.. The brunch buffet was a little disappointing but wait staff and restaurant were nice

Review 9:Where to begin...The suite had a very musty odor. The bathroom door hada 4 or 5 inch hole in it. There was mold on the bathroom tile. Thefloors and rugs were dirty. There were more than a dozen dead gnatsstuck to the bathroom ceiling. Many of the door mouldings have chippedor peeling paint. Old paneling is hanging off the walls. Much of thefurniture is old and broken; one of the dresser drawers fell out andothers wouldn't close properly. And the stairs leading to theparking lot are in need of repair.

Review 10:We loved the view of the bay and Lake George.

Review 11:Security lights outside rooms at night are blinding Making it very hard to sleep. Dinner was excellent food but wait staff had no idea how to serve. The front desk is in a basement hallway, not welcoming feeling when you have paid for two nights in advance.

Review 12:White sheets, comfortable bed, clean room, front desk staff did not say your room number aloud when checking in! I chose this property because main building picture was charming and did not look run down. Front desk wants to help and are very informative.

Review 13:In desperate need of an update. Maybe in the 70s this place was special. Honestly it could be again has all the charms of camp ground.

Review 14:Pool was great , bed was very comfortable staff was nice

Review 15:They could have offered free breakfast fot the money they charge.

Review 16:Location and view from the resort was great and just few miles from lake george village.

Review 17:The room and hotel could use some updating.

Review 18:The staff was amazing. Personable and helpful. Especially Matthew and Andrew. Pool and restaurant were excellent.

Review 19:Term "resort" can be loosely used, by far not a "resort". It should be promoted as a wedding destination. and rest and relaxation shoudl not be on there website or brochure because it was anything but when wedding guests are making a lot of noise until 2a. Pans for cooking were old, burnt unusable for cooking (replaced with a smaller doable pan when asked) no measuring cups or bowls bigger then a cereal bowl. utensils dirty and had to be scrubbed to use. cabin suite, anything but, we were on the bottom of another "suite" with children running jumping very early in the morning. private beach is private but not theirs, they have the rights for their guests to use it. and if you dont have a band on the gentleman that works there is very rude. The ammenities for approx. $300 a night is by far NOT worth it on many levels! would not stay again.

Review 20:Staff were extremely friendly and rectified any problems we had in a timely manner. coffee pot was new and very clean.

Review 21:paid for two bedroom suite , living room and kitchenette. 2 married couples traveling together. was given suite next to wedding party. most of the rooms were wedding party. had two kegs of beer coolers and trash on shared porch. marijuana smoke infiltrated our room through the a/c. and to boot never had anything but tepid water in am or pm from bathrooms

Review 22:the view of lake george

Review 23:facility was rundown. There were stains in the tub, curtains were worn, towels were threadbare and should have been replaced years ago. Outside wooden second floor walkway had several dangerous soft spots. way overpriced.

Review 24:Enjoyed the area

Review 25:The location of this facility is excellent. Surroundings are very clean and neat including swimming pool, barbecue area and play ground. Lake view is amazing. Staff are very friendly and approachable. Shuttle service also helpful.

Review 26:not a bad experience but decor is old and tired, the pool was occupied by a wedding which I think is common so check if you are expecting to use the pool, the lake is across a busy road the swimming area is small and adjacent to a marina so be aware when swimming out, no kayaks canoes, sunfish or anything to rent there. restaurant and bar were actually ugly and did not occupy the view (outdoor seating also taken by the wedding) but the food and service were excellent.

Review 27:Lovely staff, nice to be on the lake, food in the restaurant was excellent, lots of board games available, we played tennis, rackets and balls available (both old, the court too), room was clean and comfortable.

Review 28:It was so in need of updating! The rooms were very dingy. The curtains were plain ugly & did not block the outside lights at night or morning. The restaurant was out of food for about half the menu & what we did receive was probably what was scheduled to be thrown. The cost was most unreasonable. A room like that should cost a fraction of what we were charged. I do not know how this place had an 8. rating, which is what we saw when we booked it.

Review 29:The area was remote, although it had a nice view of the lake & the beach, it was a bit too far from the main attractions of the area & much too far & too dangerous to walk!

Review 30:All staff members went over and above our expectations to help with directions and suggestions of things to do . I'm looking forward to our next visit .

Review 31:The cabin was a bit small and it wasn't very clean. I bit disappointed in that aspect of our stay.

Review 32:The staff was very friendly and helpful. I even had to use their front desk computer to print our passes for Six Flags and they were very helpful!!!

Review 33:The mattresses were horribly old & lumpy. Also the shower would go hot & cold whenever the toilet was flushed or the sink was being used.

Review 34:Beautiful scenery.

Review 35:It was not an enjoyable shower at all. The water kept suddenly changing temperatures. And I did not think the room was worth the price.

Review 36:Friendly staff and lots to do at the resort.

Review 37:It was a little dated looking. Could use a DVD player with at least the TV in the living area.

Review 38:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The indoor pool was nice. Liked that it was away from the hubbub of The Village.

Review 39:Very outdated. One entry door did not lock and the pull out bed was terrible. Billed at Sunday Brunch but was actually a Sunday Buffet and the price was pretty high for that. Thin walls and neighbors kept us up.

Review 40:Unit seemed to be clean but there was mold in the bathroom.

Review 41:The room very bout dated. The bathroom needs major updating. What a waste location for what a waste of location. A little updating and this place would be wonderful. The pool was great!!

Review 42:I liked the pool.

Review 43:The location was a bit out of the way. (It is on the other side of Lake George away from the Lake George Village.) The facilities and rooms were old and bare minimal. Not worth the money.

Review 44:The rooms are not as nice as the general facilities, circa 1960's. Pillows were like sleeping on Q-tips, they were so small. The air conditioning units, though large, only cooled the living area. If a bedroom door is closed, your room is not cool. Linens are basic and the kitchen area is "rustic". The pull out sofa greeted us with an unusable 2 inch mattress. (Maybe a child wouldn't mind it.) The price for our four night stay (over $1300) could only be justified by the great and convenient location.

Review 45:We stayed at DBL to maintain our "for sale" property up the road. The location, across busy Route 9L from Dunhams Bay is an attractive spot. The public facilities like the dining room, pool, courts, etc., are all maintained quite well.

Review 46:The TV didn't work the greatest and the property needed maintenance especially on the outside. It was a little weird having to wear a hair tie in order to go to the beach and you had to bring your own chairs.

Review 47:The view was ok. It was nice and quiet! We go to the Lake George area every year (for 20 plus years) and it was on a main road, but hardly any traffic. It was very relaxing.

Review 48:Shower water temp either too hot or too cold. Tub drain blocked with handful of hair (health hazard). Advertised heated pool was NOT heated! Staff unable to answer basic questions about boat dockage on Lake George!

Review 49:View of lake

Review 50:The rooms should be updated to fit the resort itself. The beach area was really small and the guy at the marina was really rude when my child asked him a question. Also, we got a couple of alcoholic beverages at the bar and it took like 20 minutes to make the drinks and they seemed inexperienced. We didn't really get a warm welcome when we arrived. No tour or directions to show us where anything was on the grounds.

Review 51:The pool was great

Review 52:As an added feature could have washer/dryer on premise, but not needed b/c it is given in the services provided already. More a need than a want..

Review 53:Services were outstanding from staff, family was extremely pleased. Especially, the boat trip the day before on the lake with Captain Ron from Castaway Rentals. Kudus for the fun on his boat...

Review 54:Inside amenities was not very modern, sofa bed was smelly and uncomfortable

Review 55:Liked how close it was to town but still secluded. Also liked the view of the water

Review 56:noisy, no help with baggage, reception people with no smiles, seemed like they didn't want to be there. property needs a lot of maintenance

Review 57:good view but only from porch or parking lot

Review 58:No air conditioning in bedrooms only living room so you had to sleep with doors open to stay cool.

Review 59:Close enough to downtown, friendly staff and very relaxing.

Review 60:Booked a "suite" for 6 people. The "suite was a refurbished 1960s panelled cottagelike building with a coat of paint for an upgrade. Came with a total of two towels for 6 people and NO, irepeat, No toilet paper. Beds were way beyond their life expectancy. Tub doesn't drain after two showers. The list of what we didn't like is too long for this venue. We will Not be coming back here.

Review 61:We didn't have to stay for more than two nights.

Review 62:Had to request more towels and facecloths for our group. Had to request essentials (TP) upon arrival. We were told by motel staff that there was a complimentary breakfast just off the dining area of the site restaurant. We were told by restaurant person that there was no continental breakfast, only, only ala carte.

Review 63:Awesome server in the restaurant. Very clean. Quick response to phone requests to desk. Friendly staff. Close to area highlights and attractions. Not a bad price considering the popularity of the area.

Review 64:the only negative are that the bathroom need a little updating even though it was clean and spotless. Also there's absolutely zero cell phone reception at this location.

Review 65:the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and spacious, the wifi worked well. located literally across the street from Lake George with the most beautiful view of the sunset.

Review 66:the bathroom was a little small and the shower was difficult to turn on and off. limited tv channels and no chairs to sit in

Review 67:I loved the overall atmosphere and the staff were great

Review 68:No place in the room to sit and read a book...no place in the lodge to do so...and no table with chairs to play cards or a game. Bathroom fan VERY loud.

Review 69:location near the lake

Review 70:The resort advertises itself as a year round resort that is not completely true. It appeared generally "shut down" except for our group. The web site implies there are fitness facilities that is not true or accurate. This was the main reason I booked with the resort. There are other options in town six miles away that are far more comfortable and updated. There was no food or bar service available the last evening of our stay. Overall the fixtures and accommodations are dated.

Review 71:Location

Review 72:Restaurant set up a bit strange. But food was good. Cabin was ok, not really enough chairs for a family of 6 but in warm weather would be outside more anyway.

Review 73:Loved the "Ice Bar", beautiful view from the patio. Kids loved the pool area, very nice and water was warm!

Review 74:The suite served 6...we were 5 with another family member who stayed in another room, but joined us most of the time. The pub table had only 3 chairs. We ate in shifts. The living area had a couch and only 1 chair. It was not conducive to games or sitting and talking. We were watching the football game using bedrooms for comfort. The furniture is tired with niches and scratches (sanding and painting the furniture would do wonders) There was leftover trash on top of furniture, dusty, and under the beds.( I am a little more critical because I am with a team of 4 that clean 40 condos at the beach on Sat. and Sun. in season) No hangers for clothes. ONly four plates, two coffee mugs, and some dishes were dirty for 6 people. We are in the area 2-4 times a year for grandkids, but I am not sure I would stay there because we could not hang out as a family in one room or play board games except stretching out on the floor and over 60's is too much. Door in bedroom had to be lifted up from handle to close it. It was not put on hinges correctly.

Review 75:The View The restaurant The hospitality of the staff (including maintenance for the snow removal) The location Girls LOVED indoor pool

Review 76:Jennifer was very helpful and pleasant. She not only helped process my room she took me to my room explained a few things to me and made me feel very comfortable with my stay. The dinner I had as a part my business training was delicious, fresh and plentiful. The views were amazing as well as my overall experience. Thank you!

Review 77:Bathrooms could use some maintenance as both tubs dripped a lot.

Review 78:Enjoyed our stay. Will return next year. Good value. Lovely setting. Two bedroom cabin was very comfortable for five.

Review 79:Rooms are a little dated (70 's) but clean & maintained.

Review 80:Location, price, great menu choices and reasonably priced meals. Sunday brunch was excellent. 10 minutes from Lake George Village.

Review 81:Room deadbolt broken and never repaired during stay no offer to move or apology. Mold/mildow in bathroom. Always had to wait for front desk agent to appear. Entire property run down and tired. Not worth the price of the room for an off season weekend.

Review 82:Place is outdated, windows still have single pane glass with aluminum combination storms, even with a deadbolt our door had a 1/8" gap around the top and side and a 1/4" gap along the bottom where you could see the outside. NOTE: they have weddings and receptions here and the festivities happen just one wall behind your room. The noise if deafening!!Before you book ask if their is one scheduled during your stay.

Review 83:Couldn't find a better location. Secluded, no traffic, woodsy, heated pool, outside grills, smokers, shuffleboard, tennis, hiking trails

Review 84:the restaraunt is in the main building and has 2 floors. When there is a wedding or function in the top floor, the rooms can hear everything right down to conversations people have through the walls! very poor placement of rooms. non-wedding guests should be put in rooms further from the banquet area.

Review 85:The view is wonderful, and the brunch was nice. The pool was heated and had a very nice atmosphere.

Review 86:Room curtains were molded Housekeeper did not remove dirty towels or clean the room Not worth the money

Review 87:Bed was comfortable People were nice Scenery was gorgeous

Review 88:The pool was COLD. Brisk fall day and they had all the windows and doors open. The heated pool was no longer heated. Even the hot tub could have been warmer if they are going to treat it like it is outside.

Review 89:The location was very nice. Never stayed on that side of lake. Nice indoor pool and hot tub.

Review 90:Some front desk staff could have been a little warmer & more welcoming rather than grumpy & making guests feel like they were bothering them with ? Male with long hair was very nice & helpful. Man across street at beach was very mean and was yelling at us and others for being there. We had colored wrist bands from resort office staff and he still yelled at us. This was a BIG turn off !!!

Review 91:Location Two Bedroom Suites w/2 Baths On site restaurant Beach across street

Review 92:Check in staff seemed to have some attitude. Lots of families in hotel for wedding the next day. Maybe four fifty something guy's did not mix in. Although reasonable value, Photos give you the idea its directly on the water(across the street) not hotel property but you can get pass to swim. Would give another try if we booked later and could get suite in the back away from main hotel again.

Review 93:Suite size with 2 bathrooms for 4some of golfers. Good size kitchen Full size fridge. Many grills for outside Bar B Q Rooms clean and updated Nice restaurant for Breakfast. Not free but good quality. Good staff

Review 94:I thought it was somewhat pricey for the age of the rooms decor. Bathrooms need updating. Rooms need painting. The one meal we did have at the lodge was lacking.

Review 95:The bay view was wonderful, quiet and serene. The double bedroom was comfortable and fun for 2 couples to share.

Review 96:The rooms were dated. And the hot tub had a little residue ring around the edge.

Review 97:He rooms were clean. And the staff was friendly and helpful. We had an issue with a leaky skink and phone not calling out. The staff fixed the issues quickly and without question. While the restaurant didn't include any discount for staying on the property it was the best breakfast we had for a very reasonable price, dinner was very tasty too!

Review 98:Over all cost Coffee availability Staff seemed concerned about the bill. Even though half was prepaid and they had my account number.

Review 99:Location from Lake George Pool

Review 100:The rooms are very outdated, the A/C units were extremely loud which made sleep difficult. The drain in the tub was very slow to drain, so there was always standing water in the tub. The bathroom was very small. The t.v. screen picture was about as good as a picture with "rabbit ears," and the remote barely worked.

Review 101:We liked the location, that is was far enough out of town but yet not to far.

Review 102:Some front desk staff not super friendly or helpful. Roll-outcouch/bed very thin mattress and not comfy. Tight in livingroom whenopen. Tv in livingroom doesnt face furniture. No outdoor pool. Onlyindoor. If you want sun, gotta lay out just outside pool area. Beachacross the street not part of resort and not so friendly.

Review 103:Clean. Firepit. Indoor pool. Jacuzzi. Pool close to rooms. Late nightcheck-in. Bungalo type 2 bedroom units w/2 bathrooms. On part oflake. All in all, good bag for your buck, but dont let exterior picsfool you, not lap of luxury.

Review 104:The big set of drawers didn't have a handle and was hard to open. The cold water tap only had a "dribble" and we had to ask twice to get it fixed. Overall the resort is nice but it needs some updates. In using the second floor you really should have railing.

Review 105:I liked being away from the commercialism, but yet close enough to do things. The restaurant and staff were excellent.

Review 106:We initially booked a two bedroom suite. The particular unit we got was in the ground floor (basement) with a unit above. The unit was old, musty and damp. Extremely shabby and looked like it flooded a few times. It was not very clean. The unit needed a dehumidifier which was extremely noisy as was the window air conditioner. You could also hear the people in the unit above. Fortunately, management upgraded us to the porch unit for the following night.

Review 107:Go for the two bedroom porch suite. MUCH better than the two bedroom suite. The porch units also have two bathrooms which are much more modern than the basement unit.

Review 108:The darkness of the room, the dampness, the used wet towels left in our rooms, and also I found bugs (daddy long legs, cricket, and some other gray bug) in our bathroom

Review 109:Swimming pool because of the warm water and we can barbecue at the back while the kids play

Review 110:It was a very pretty resort, quiet and off the beaten path, great for a romantic anniversary trip such as ourselves! The only thing I hated was the shower, it was just terrible!! But other than that, loved it and would def stay there again!!

Review 111:It was raining and there was a musty smell in the room. The bathroom was dated.

Review 112:Lots to do there - pool, tennis courts, beach area, fire pit, restaurant on site and nice view. Beds were very comfy.

Review 113:This place needs a redo - no place to put anything in the bathroom, no plugs to plug in lap top, sun shines in windows all day, so you have to keep drapes closed, they put 2 families with 6 kids above us and the noise was awful - kids running and jumping on old wooden floors woke us up at night and annoying during the day, grounds are cramped because they have an "EVENT" tent set up for weddings right next to pool area - I don't know what they do for parking, because there isn't much space without an event going on, beach was across the street and the list of rules to use it was a whole page long, inconvenient location.

Review 114:Restaurant food was good

Review 115:Would like to see returne of pool table

Review 116:Very friendly and helpful staff location of resort ,view, well kept grounds, food was ok, fire pit was a hot with us and grand kids, nice place to socialize with other guests. We will return next year

Review 117:No wi-fi available in the room. Password given did not work. As an early riser would be nice to have coffee available for the early risers.

Review 118:Loved the location, views, great dinner, super friendly staff.

Review 119:Very spartan room. Towels very flimsy. No coffee in room. In general we felt everything was very poor quality and rate of $191 per day was rediculous for the quality.

Review 120:Jennifer at the desk, was very helpful

Review 121:Bathroom tub was not clean enough. Shower did not work properly. Rooms had a very musty odor.

Review 122:The kids enjoyed the pool and playground. It was nice to have a kitchen.

Review 123:The beach and lake were a bit too small and far from our cabin, and there were no boats or equipment to use for the lake.

Review 124:The pool was lovely and the staff was very nice. The cabin was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Overall a good place to stay.

Review 125:Hole in the floor under the carpet of the outdoor passageway leading to our room Bathroom showed signs of wear Service in the restaurant was quite slow considering how few there were in the place when we arrived

Review 126:Fire pit View of lake Comfortable bed Restaurant food was good Good family environment

Review 127:The place was dirty they never vacuum the room and never cleaned the bathroom. I will never stay their again.

Review 128:I liked the property it had a campfire at night and their was a little playground for the children.

Review 129:There is a soft spot under thecoarpet on the upper walkway that could be a potential hazzard if someone stepped on it and it gave way. One of the lamps in our room did not work. The rooms were not cleaned until late afternoon. That is we would come back to take a nap. Cable signal was weak the tv did not come in very clear. Updated TV's for the guest room.

Review 130:It had a great view of the lake not to far from town. We liked the pool was under a roof but with the big sliding doors allowed for the air to flow through.

Review 131:The location is great but the rooms need to be updated. Decor is circa 1960's

Review 132:The restaurant has a cooperative with a local farm. The fresh vegetables and meat from this farm were outstanding!!

Review 133:The bathroom tub faucet leaked, and the closet doors were broken. The warning on the bathroom door about using the 'beach' across the street was rude. The beach (loosely termed as it is minuscule in size) is among boats. I'm not a fan of swimming with outboard motor fumes and gasoline spillage in the water. Our bathroom was not cleaned (makeup residue still visible) and the bed was poorly made (sheets came untucked). There was no continental breakfast and worst of all one night there was an event on the grounds whose music was playing so loudly that it shook our room... Not everyone staying at this resort was attending this party therefore in my opinion the management should have been monitoring the volume after 10pm which is typically the time considered to be considerate to OTHERS! I would never stay here again.

Review 134:Not much. I guess the bed was comfortable if I have to say something positive.

Review 135:The rooms. Our pillows were dirty. They visibly had smears of something on them. The wall ac unit was broken so they had a window unit in the rooms only window so it was horribly dark in the room. The water in the shower was either burn your skin hot or ice cold there was no happy in between so showering was impossible. If you plan on spending no time in your room and taking quick rushed showers then this place is for you!

Review 136:The location and the view were wonderful. The pool, fire pit and grounds were also well kept and nice.

Review 137:Beautiful grounds, playground for the kids, outdoor barbeque grills, nice indoor heated pool and hot tub! Coffee and tea available in the morning. They even have a shuttle bus to take you into the main area of Lake George. Restaurant on site as well. My grandchildren loved it!

Review 138:Though clean the facility is showing its age. The king sized room we stayed in was tight. Tennis Court needs to be power washed.

Review 139:Location with view of Lake subperb. People were friendly. Restaurant dinner was fine for the $. Breakfast was not so good.

Review 140:The view was beautiful, clean, quiet rooms

Review 141:Room outlets need to be changed, and some updating would be nice

Review 142:Good price for amount of space
