Reviews for Windemere Hotel & Conference Center

Review 1:The name and that this hotel includes a Conference room sound too good. The rooms are dirty, meaning the carpets and non-smoking rooms smell awful like twenty people smoked in that room. We had a young child with medical problems, and he felt uncomfortable right away.

Review 2:The staff were very understanding and helpful. When we requested for another room they found us one.

Review 3:The rooms are out dated and in need of a complete remodelling. The carpet is so badly stained that it stinks. Non smoking room with burn marks all over the sink. Tried calling front desk but the phone did not work. When we were leaving there was suringes and pills in the parking lot near our vehicle. Had to make sure our child got right into the vehicle. Employees more busy socializing with friends or family then doing any work. The waffle maker is completely black and dripping brown stuff under neath it. With a little cleaning it should never look like this.

Review 4:Got moved into an up graded room.

Review 5:The room was very dirty, the carpet was stained and smelled. The sheets were wrinkled and looked like someone had already slept in them. There were no hangers and only one small waste basket. We hardly slept and were glad to leave. The room smelled like a wet dog and though I sprayed my perfume around it didn't help.

Review 6:The grounds were pretty and the lounge was nice.

Review 7:They gave me a room that had been having problems with the door lock the day we checked in. Needless to say we were locked out of the room for 2 hours with all of our belongings inside and the staff acted like it wasn't a big deal. Basically made us walk back and forth from the room to the front desk 4 times and we had the furthest room from the desk. Because they figured we were stupid and not able to operate the key cards I guess. Never offered a discount or anything to rectify the situation. Will not return. The shower needed to be cleaned again. It was dusty and not up to my standards.

Review 8:The bed sheets were clean and white. Not a crazy pattern weird crap.

Review 9:Hot tub had sand in it. The whole place had a lot of wear and tear from normal use.

Review 10:The jetted tub was by far our favorite feature. Breakfast was the same every day but was pretty good.

Review 11:Light bulbs missing in room Had to return to office to get wifi code refrigerator froze my food Tv cable was undone from wall needed someone to hook it up. Dog show barking constantly bathing dogs on my parking spot loud hair blowing machine Asked front desk to talk to someone with the dog show to quit dogs barking at night never happened

Review 12:Not very much

Review 13:The room was dirty and old. The couch had a large rip in it. The bed hada double size top sheet layed on a king size mattress which never stayedin place and the mattress was filthy. The sliding glass doors havesquare wheels. The connecting doors to room next door are hollow doorsso you hear everything. Do not stay there!

Review 14:There was pee on the toilet, the sheets had stains, the microwave was dirty, there was a dog in the room next to us that barked all night, and we could hear the TV and conversations through the walls. The room was just as filthy as it smelled.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:I did not like the fact that I was expected to save my receipt when paying cash in order to get deposit returned.

Review 17:I enjoyed the outside entrance to room along with the balcony.

Review 18:They advertised on the web site they shuttle service to the Tucson airport. When checking in I asked about shuttle times to the airport, I was informed they no longer had service I canceled mr reservation and went to the Best Western.

Review 19:The lady at the front was too busy to be very nice. She needs help. Had to wipe walls and counters that I might touch. So gross. Needs updates. Had a chair that looked like it had been pulled out of a dumpster 10 years ago. Filthy room all around.

Review 20:Location and the patio for each room

Review 21:You need new beds and pillows. There were long hairs on the wall above the bathtub. The room itself, was clean.

Review 22:The conference food was excellent, but the chairs in the Conference Center were terrible. The outside of the property was very nice and I loved all of the green areas around the Conference Center. It was beautiful. The Lobby was very nice and desk staff was super nice and helpful.

Review 23:The over all area is going down hill not just the hotel. Could really use an upgrade.

Review 24:The grounds and pool area are nice. If on the second floor the balcony is very private. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 25:We were told breakfast at 6:30, my co workers went down at 7:00. There were no batter for waffles and no gravy for biscuits. I went to the front desk, the gentleman in charge of breakfast was on the phone. We only ate toast and muffins. Poor customer service , staff were indifferent.

Review 26:The room smells moldy. Dust all over the counter and patio was very dirty.

Review 27:there was a persistant drip by the door all night that kept me awake?

Review 28:the staff were friendly.and the location was ideal.never tried the breakfast,so no comment

Review 29:The way the rooms are decorated. None of the furniture matched. I had 4 chairs in the room and only two matched. The comfortable chair was all thread bare. This place has a lot of potential to be a 5 star one if they would just update furniture and replace carpets. The hinges on the doors all need to be wiped down due to all the black.

Review 30:I requested a quiet area and it was very quiet. The grounds were well kept up and beautiful. The room and patio was huge.

Review 31:The room didn't look anything similar to what the online pictures look like. The room was small, there was a left over powerade drink in the mini fridge that was not mine. The bed was not comfortable, it had a thick piece of foam that swallowed you.. I guess u get what you pay for.. I would not go back...

Review 32:The Jacuzzi Tub was the best part of the room.

Review 33:Some of the staff at the front desk are not very helpful or friendly.

Review 34:The housekeeping staff is friendly and very thorough. I loved having a microwave and refrigerator in my room. The hotel is quiet and the patio is a nice place to relax.

Review 35:Breakfast wasn't worth mentioning. They offered very little and didn't have a kitchen BUT those waffles were good.

Review 36:The location was in the center of Mesa, Arizona which made the location super convenient. At the same time it was quit and away from everybody. The trees at the entrance made it hard to find the place but was a benefit because it was secluded.

Review 37:Dirty rooms. Bed smelled of smoker. Electrical outlets were all broken except the ones already used for TV etc.. Air conditioner had only 2 settings, hot and cold and room was very uncomfortable. I would rate this as a trucker motel and not as a family hotel.

Review 38:Staff was very cheerful and helpful, location was close to where I was visiting.

Review 39:The garbage around the grounds stays until we pick it up for the staff.

Review 40:We Love The Price It Has Allowed My Family To Be Able To Move To AZ. A little old but nice enough and things worked and was very comfortable.

Review 41:The breakfast was the same every day, luke warm, messy, and pretty limited selection. When anything was used up, it never got replenished. After many complaints , the staff did nothing to change or fix anything, including the manager.

Review 42:The pool is awesome. The room is a great size. The housekeeping folks were great.

Review 43:Ripped up and dirty upholstery on furniture, unkempt and smelly carpet .

Review 44:Nice location, close to restaurants and shopping. Pool was clean and well maintained.

Review 45:Everything was bad

Review 46:I felt the clerk should have asked how many hours did I need instead of notes. Place is a total dive. Only thing that looks good, is the sign and driveway in.

Review 47:There were 6 of us 1 adult and my 5 grandkids and we only received 3breakfast tickets, no cable in our room

Review 48:We enjoyed everything, nice laid back relaxing, kids loved the pool

Review 49:WiFi did not work. Rooms were outdated, linens very outdated almost made me want to leave. Found a bug in the bed,(no fitted sheets?) but it looked like the room hadn't been used in a while. Gave us new room right away.

Review 50:Close enough to the airport. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious. Price was right.

Review 51:Price went up when I needed an additional day. They could be more competitive with rates for longer stays, as there is hardly anyone here. I would have stayed longer, but found a better deal elsewhere.

Review 52:The room was huge and clean, bed was comfortable, and staff was friendly.

Review 53:Everything! Worst experience ever! Bums walking around. Extremely hot inside the room, switched rooms and was just as hot even with a/c on and beer bottles in the trash cans and under beds..

Review 54:I liked that they gave me my money back after leaving 2hrs later

Review 55:Pool area was dirty with trash and bloody towel for three days straight. Lots of beggers and drug addicts on the premises both day and all night. Breakfast is not as good as it was a year ago.

Review 56:Room was clean.

Review 57:The rooms were run down. The armchair in the room was dirty. The rugs were dirty. The coverlet was dingy and dirty as was the thin blanket underneath but the sheets and pillowcases were clean. Also, there was no WiFi. Over all, if I could have moved to another hotel/motel without penalty, I would have.

Review 58:The pool was open late at night. It was enjoyable.

Review 59:didn't have the chance for breakfast. Also had to rush off and not enjoy the pool.

Review 60:friendly staff and ease of check-in was great. spa tub was great after day of meetings. very affordable

Review 61:This is a MOTEL NOT A HOTEL :description of MOTEL Single, or double storied building with connect rooms; has open walkways, exterior entrances , room was old and need of a coat of paint ,bathtub JACUZZI was in need of cleaning ,breakfast that a joke there is not much choice

Review 62:the location was exelent carpet was clean

Review 63:The rooms are dated. Needs a makeover. Carpeting and tile in bathroom dirty and stained! Fixtures from the 70s. Refrigerator had 3" of ice in freezer. They were about 30 yrs. old.

Review 64:Pool and outside landscaping was beautiful.

Review 65:The mattress needs to be replaced, it was clean but saggy for a conference center hotel.

Review 66:our ac had quit and it was too hot to stay at home, the cool comfort of our room was a mini vacation

Review 67:The breakfast was not what it should have been,( I stay at the Windmere in Seattle, there the breakfast is so fresh, with fruit and fresh breads). The oatmeal was so good yet when I wanted brown sugar and raisins-they were so old I had to toss out.

Review 68:So peaceful, I got the room I asked for and could just walk across the walkway to the pool, and the view from my room was great!

Review 69:The photos online are nothing like the rooms they have. They are old, run down, and dirty. If the advertising would have been honest we would have stayed somewhere else. It was more of a convenience (close to my hospital)

Review 70:The room was very dated/dirty. I slept on top of the covers because I didn't trust the cleanliness of the sheets. The bathroom was nasty. Had I not booked at a third party site I would've demanded a refund. Very disappointing.

Review 71:It was old. Bed like sleeping on the floor. Motion light near bathroom came on brightly whenever someone got out of bed. Could hear everything neighbors said. Air conditioning too noisy. Had to buy ear plugs to sleep. Dirty over all. Tub and sink did not drain. Old tube TV. Horrible place. Wish I would have read other reviews before booking.

Review 72:The grounds were very nice.

Review 73:Could use some freshening up, especially the carpet. Breakfast needs more protein dishes and more food. We would come down in the middle of breakfast and they would be out of many items and we were told that they could not restock. Nicer furniture on the balconies would make them even better.

Review 74:Spacious room, nice kitchenette area, great balcony, beds are ok. Bathroom is decent. Loved watching all the afgan hounds there for a dog show.

Review 75:1970s era motel with no elevator; difficult for arthritic spouse. WiFi free but feeble; bare bones room; old TV; bleak location on old Route 66.

Review 76:Pleasant receptionists. Refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave, as well as balcony overlooking green oasis of a courtyard.

Review 77:Had no wifi for a day no water pressure called three times no one fixed it. Told the office I was a senior received no discount no credit for water problem

Review 78:The location was great

Review 79:Room was far from what I had reserved. Stains all over the floor and walls. Really outdated even though pictures online are of refurbished rooms.

Review 80:Staff was as helpful as they could be.

Review 81:The room smelled terrible when we arrived. It is a VERY outdated property not in good repair. A lot of time, effort and money needs to be put towards the property. Won't stay here again.

Review 82:The location of this property is the best part of it. Centrally located in Mesa, Arizona.

Review 83:Very dark rooms, very loud air conditioner that kept waking us up even after three nights. Shower squeeled every time. Not everyone likes biscuits and gravy every day.

Review 84:Beautiful grounds, friendly staff

Review 85:Told our room was on the "unrennovated side" therefore not up to basic standards. IF not up to standards, then shouldn't have rented the room!

Review 86:The grounds were beautiful.

Review 87:No restaurant in the area. Uncomfortable bed looked slept in with filthy bedspread. No free shuttle to airport as advertised, so paid cab driver $25. No breakfast available at 6:00, so had to get something at airport. Very disappointed in this motel.

Review 88:Nothing.

Review 89:The room amenities were old. Did not even have a HD TV. An old digital tube. One the light bulbs above the sink was out. I told the desk that morning. When we returned later in the evening it still had not been. The said they had no maintenance person on duty. Could not use the microwave. There was no tray inn the unit. Light sockets were nonexistent. The breakfast was a joke. No eggs or meat of any kind. Cold gravy for biscuits and pancake mix. We were very disappointed that we checked out 2 days early. We had stayed there several years and had a good experience. The facility has really run down since we were last there. If I could give this hotel a -10 I would. Would not recommend. Plus the desk staff were of little use when we asked for recommendations on a good place eat. They seemed to have little idea of the area.

Review 90:The rooms need to be cleaned thoroughly, painted, repaired, and upgraded. The elastic on the fitted sheet on the bed was all stretched out and wouldn't stay on the mattress. Mattress was old. Shower was very loud.

Review 91:The grounds and pool area are very nice

Review 92:The stains on the bathroom & bedroom walls were washable. The rug was damp & smelly. We counted 11 insects: moths, gnats, spiders mosquitoes & flies. Removed the spread & a sm. black bug flew out. I had to wash my feet before putting my shoes on as they were sticky. We didn't change rooms because we had the last room. Complained in the AM & the manager said she wouldn't charge us for canceling the next 2 nights. Big Deal! We didn't hear a sorry either. the impression was, she didn't care & seemed bothered by our complaint. Never again! We went to LaQuinta Inn. Donna Stocker

Review 93:Messy around the pool and the breakfast area also over charged me on the reservations so had to call back when I got home ....Hope I get my refund back on my credit card

Review 94:Close to where we had to travel

Review 95:First room smelt of dog urine and bathroom flooded when guests upstairs had a shower. Fridge frosted up and constantly leaked making carpet wet in kitchen area.

Review 96:Changed rooms without a problem and gave a cost reduction

Review 97:The place was very run down and aged. Shower was horrible and should be completely replaced. Practically no water pressure.

Review 98:Computer in lobby was easily available. Complimentary breakfast was always fresh and well maintained. Staff was pleasant and accommodating.

Review 99:They had our reservation mixed up and said it was for March 23. But thank god they still had a room. Walked into room and the carpet was so dirty needed to be shampooed badly . There were big spots. Sheets where not put on good so came untucked while trying to sleep. Could tell maid did very fast job on all of the room.

Review 100:We did like the location, easy to get to airport. Also loved the outside doors. Plus we like the big chair to sit in .

Review 101:We refused to stay, room had blood on the carpet, was filthy, our friends room smelled like cat urine and the bed was not made. It was horrid. When we asked if all the rooms were like this, the clerk stated "all the good rooms are booked"

Review 102:nothing

Review 103:The carped was badly in need of replacement, the bathroom door didn't open completely because the floor was warped. The woodwork and the walls were in poor condition. The room we were in had been a smoking room.

Review 104:The rooms are nothing like the pictures online and there was trash every where around the pool. The blankets were all stained and they did not have any extra pillows or towels. None at all I will NOT be returning.

Review 105:The pool was open later then most.

Review 106:the breakfast there was not much to pick from. the waffles were really good but the time to wait to make them was too long.

Review 107:easy access nice clean quiet safe

Review 108:The room needed repair work. The bathroom door was dirty; the tub area was missing some trim; the window screen was broken. The room and grounds did not reflect the internet photos at all!

Review 109:Online ad indicated airport shuttle which was the reason we chose the hotel. There wasn't one. Arranged with the desk the evening before to book a taxi for us . That was not done so instead of leaving at 0545 as planned it was 0610 before it came which made it very rushed for us at the airport. No water available in vending machine. Pillows were very hard.

Review 110:Paper thin walls, can hear everything. Heater sounded like a weed eater and smelled terrible. Rooms badly need updating, tv is old tube type and poor picture, walls need fresh paint and room needs some kind of decor. Breakfast area is poorly laid out requiring several trips up and down the length of it bumping into other people to serve yourself. Not enough seating and unappetizing food with no fresh fruit even. Not going back.

Review 111:Good location, large vehicle parking right outside room. Didn't go to pool area, but it looked nice from what I saw.

Review 112:I had to clean the bathroom door, walls, light switch, door jams to make it feel clean and sanitary. They were really dirty.

Review 113:I liked the layout of the room with a sliding door to a nice sized patio.

Review 114:Breakfast staff was awful. Poor neighborhood.

Review 115:Fantastic pool area. We enjoyed it very much. Nice breakfast area too. The one thing was it's in a bad area. I wouldn't wAnt to walk alone at night. We have to go back in March and will probably stay again.

Review 116:We weren't booked into the room we had requested. The laundry facilities were dismal. At the breakfast bar, neither of the "hot" dishes were hot.

Review 117:The grounds are quite lovely, making the hotel look appealing.

Review 118:I made the reservation for my sister, because my Dad is in the hospital and we are taking turns staying with him. She went to her room and there were a lot of people wandering around at night. The chain/lock on her door had been broken and not replaced in a secure manner. The screen door was open and she did not feel safe staying there.

Review 119:The room was filthy, carpet was horrid, our socks were literally black, My little dog kept bringing garbage out from under the beds. Bedding had burn holes and stains. Bathroom door stuck, we had to soap it and we still got stuck. They finally sent a person down to take the door and repair it. Bathtub wouldn't drain, my husband took a wire to clean it out. Freezer in fridge needed defrosted about a year ago. We had four adults in our room. We were in Mesa for the Under Armor baseball games/scout recruiting. The lobby of the hotel appears to have received all the money for any upgrades that were done. Two of us were down from Oregon and the other two flew in from Alaska. We will never return to The Windemere for any of our travel needs. We were in room #129 Thank you, Dana McHugill age 63 Stanley McHugill age 65 Brian McHugill age 43 Dalton McHugill age 18

Review 120:The Manager, Marsha Miller was nice. The lobby was beautiful.

Review 121:The front of the property looks nice, but once you drive to the back where the rooms are, it's a whole different thing. I pulled in at about 9 pm and found several questionable young men all smoking marijuana in the parking lot. There was a beer can on the window ledge of my room. If I did not have a gun and a dog, I would not have stayed. While walking the dog, two different men attempted to approach me, saying, "ma'am", the dog shut them down immediately and they didn't come any closer. This group of men appeared to running some type of business using the hotel as a base of operations. They came and went slamming doors and being loud until 1 am. The next morning I saw the extent of this group, two big box trucks and about 7 or 8 vans all with out of state plates. The least the hotel could have done was put this group in one area so they wouldn't keep everyone else up until 1 am. The heat/air system was so loud I turned it off, but then turned it back on to cover the loud people. I'm sure the room was nice 35 years ago, but it is pretty sad in 2015. No sleep for me. When I checked out the lady at the front counter did not bother to ask how my stay was, I guess they don't care.

Review 122:Nice big dirt area to walk the dog. Pet friendly.

Review 123:The breakfast area was woefully underserved. The gravy was almost gone, the coffee was only lukewarm; there was no fork to get the waffle out of the machine. The young lady on duty didn't seem to know how to keep the area up.

Review 124:The hotel is close to family we were visiting. It is easy to find; the grounds are beautiful. The room was clean.

Review 125:Dirty, well worn furniture, depressing also as a single Peron concerned room location behind building felt apprehensive about safety

Review 126:Room large, WiFi/TV good

Review 127:Appliances are dated and the jacuzzi jets in tub did not work. The coffee pot had old moldy filter left in it and when I asked for a new pot they just removed filter and mold still in filter basket. Behind nightstand was filthy with garbage. Handles on drawers were covered in spilled food from microwave. When checking out the desk agent didn't speak any words to me, so that was final decision for me not to ever stay again.

Review 128:It was quiet at night

Review 129:We would like to see yogurt and some fruit for breakfast.

Review 130:We have been staying in this motel for many years. It is quiet, the garden and pool area are delightful. The staff is great. The rooms comfortable.

Review 131:dirty and found bugs. really old hotel and it needs A LOT of updating. walls are really thin and internet service was poor quality. not going to stay here again.

Review 132:there was a microwave and fridge. the grounds were nice.

Review 133:The breakfast was pretty meager. Not many options.

Review 134:Beds were pretty comfortable. And the big screen television was nice.

Review 135:Old, run down, dirty!

Review 136:That I didn't die here!

Review 137:The room was large and had two exits.

Review 138:Hair on dryer Hair on floor Noisy heater/air unit All crabs for free breakfast No eggs. no fruit

Review 139:It was quiet
