Reviews for Columbine Motel

Review 1:Laundry was too expensive

Review 2:The cleanliness of the room and how well the room was maintained. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 3:The columbine motel was a great place to stay! My room was spectacularly clean and the owners were very friendly! I would recommend it to anyone and will definitely be going back for future stays!

Review 4:Nice updated room, the shower was almost painful , it was a high flow head, here in drought Colorado, we were surprised as we have had a low flow for years. Was a good experience overall.

Review 5:First appearance on the outside slightly worry some but quickly changed upon meeting staff and seeing the room.

Review 6:The room was extremely clean and furnished nicely. Even had comforter and throw pillow sets which was a really nice touch. My friend and I were just staying the night and were extremely happy with the coffee maker in the room. Full sized so you can make a whole pot. Mini fridge and microwave were a good touch.

Review 7:Although the room was not one of the ones close to the main drag it was rather noisy, not a location that is quiet from 8p to 8a. Lots of foot traffic through the parking area was not reassuring. The continental breakfast appeared to be rather minimal.

Review 8:Nothing exceptional about this motel. It was relatively clean but I stayed in several other motels for less during my recent road trip that were nicer. Bathroom was clean, bedding was not at firm as I like. Parking in front of my room was convenient. Nearby restaurants of interest were about 10 minutes away.

Review 9:second time i stayed here,,and had a diff room,,was dirty,,running toilet,,noisy fridge,,sticky table,,drawer didnt open,,bathroom door didnt shut,,front door not sealed good,heard traffic all night,,very uncomfy bed

Review 10:the owner was very nice,,fair price

Review 11:a bit of noise from the traffic and the couple next to me were a bit loud late at night

Review 12:was one of the nicest motels i have stayed in, very clean and the bed was the most comfy

Review 13:My room had a few problems: The refrigerator was being defrosted and forgotten so that water was coming out and soaked the rug. The coffee maker had been mal-used by someone and was broken. There was no stopper in the bathroom sink.

Review 14:The rooms were tastefully decorated and the location was fairly convenient to the back entrance to the Colorado National Monument for which I had gone to Grand Junction. Fruita would have been better for entering at the front of the monument and starting at the visitors' center. The neighborhood was pleasant. The owners were very pleasant.

Review 15:Gets some noise from the street. Some chemical odor from cleaning remains even after we opened the windows.

Review 16:Very clean, comfortable bed, big room. Despite a very little space for it, the breakfast was adeaqute.

Review 17:Bathroom could have been cleaner and was a bit shabby. I think the very enthusiastic reviews I read were a bit exaggerated. Basically it is a budget motel and that is what you are getting.

Review 18:Beds were comfortable and the cost was cheap.

Review 19:Very nicely renovated, attractive rooms, with fridge, microwave, AC, nice towels and bedding. Basic but sufficient breakfast, enough to hold you till lunch. Grounds kept very nice.

Review 20:The only downside was the location. It is off a busy street and could be a little noisy during the day but quieted down at night. It's a couple miles from downtown, but was also $100 less per night than any of the hotels downtown. I'd rather take a 5 minute cab ride and have the extra money to spend going out.

Review 21:I got into town earlier than expected and was able to check in at noon. Staff was extremely friendly and volunteered to change my reservation from two double beds to a single king size (two doubles were the only room showing available when I originally booked). The rooms have been recently refurnished and have new paint and hardwood floors. It was the cleanest room I can remember, nice size and comfortable.

Review 22:Quite a bit of road noise .... bed a bit too soft for our senior backs

Review 23:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Gave good restaurant suggestions. Helped me change my reservation.

Review 24:Loved this real, one story "motel" from the old days where you parked right outside of your room. Classy! My room was very nicely updated and particularly well decorated. Once you walked into the room, you wouldn't have known you were in an "old fashioned" motel. Excellent value. Only slight downside was a bit of traffic noise from the 4 lane street on which the motel is located. Didn't really bother me however.

Review 25:This was a wonderful place to stay very clean. Price is amazing, staff was very friendly. we would definitely recommend to family and friends to stay here as well will return to this motel when back in the area. Best find!

Review 26:The hot water in the shower took a couple minutes to come through. A couple torn holes on the comforter on the bed but it didn't affect our sleep at all.

Review 27:What a beautiful room, we were impressed the second we walked in. Comfortable bed. Very good customer service, very friendly! And 24/7 reception, thank goodness.

Review 28:Friendly and accommodating owners - a family-run business. Had a nicely remodeled and well decorated room that was very, very clean. Convenient location to east side of town and Pallisade. Would definitely stay here again!

Review 29:We were surprised to see a beautiful kitchenette in the room so we went to the store and bought groceries for dinner. When we opened up the cabinets there was no kitchenware. Oops...our fault for not looking and just assuming. So the next night we bought a pot for pasta, turned on the stove and it did not work. Oh well, I needed a pot anyway and we just ordered pizza delivered. In their defense there are kitchens fully stocked if you ask for them. Not their fault.

Review 30:Very clean, comfortable beds, and nice people running it. Good price. Big refridge. and microwave. I would stay there again.

Review 31:Doesn't look like much outside but the rooms are individually and tastefully decorated, a step above of what you would expect. The owners obviously take pride in their property.

Review 32:Room was clean and comfortable. Manager was available and helpful when needed. Recent remodel of rooms almost looks like newly constructed. Fridge, micro, AC unit, cable tv, hairdryer, all worked well. Parking at the entrance to the room (unlike hotels) is very convenient. Location is walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend to those going thru booking.com. also.

Review 33:Ants in bathroom and bedroom, room quite small with King bed. Breakfast consisted of one table two chairs and few choices for food. Staff not very friendly.

Review 34:Inside looked nice

Review 35:Air conditioner is a little loud, but the fan runs continuously so you don't hear the cycling much. Very basic continental breakfast in a very tiny area of the lobby – one table, two chairs.

Review 36:Older motel that doesn’t look like much on the outside, but very nice rooms. Queen beds with thick mattresses, hardwood floor, kitchenette, the highest-pressure shower you’ve ever experienced! . Nice gazebo with BBQ in the parking area. Arguably the best BBQ chicken and ribs you’ve ever had in the shopping center across the street! The exterior of the building and the tiny one-person lobby make it look like a 2-star motel at best, but the rooms are a solid 2.5 star.

Review 37:The walls are paper thin and you could hear every sound from adjoining rooms and outside traffic. The bathroom needed cleaning and the pink tub needed replacing.

Review 38:The bed was very comfortable.

Review 39:Nothing too bad. The internet wasn't blazingly fast but it was acceptable.

Review 40:Despite the exterior the room was well appointed and charming. The staff was very friendly.

Review 41:Not a great area

Review 42:So clean! So comfortable! Will always stay here when in town now. Never been in a motel as clean and comfortable. Cleaner than an Embassy Suite I stayed in one time.

Review 43:breakfast food and drink variety were a little poor, only one little table and two chairs in the breakfast room,

Review 44:good bed comfort, nice clean large room, will clearly recommend staying in this hotel (6 people, 3 rooms) car parking just in front of the hotel, friendly and helpful staff

Review 45:The experience was all wonderful with the only exception being the overwhelming smell of air freshener/cleaning product upon arrival, but at least we know the room had been cleaned!

Review 46:Location, personal welcome from owners, clean updated rooms, easy access

Review 47:No bad experiences.

Review 48:It's an older hotel that's been really updated. Rooms are nicely appointed with a kitchenette. Owners are friendly and helpful. Safe, clean area. half mile from Walmart

Review 49:Room was very clean no stale smoke smell. Well appointed and recently refurbished. The bathroom was clean, and modern looking nice shower plenty of hot water. Owner Stan very friendly and will help you with anything you need. He gave me a piece of tinfoil to repair my motorcycle. For the price this is a great place to stay. Very rare find these days.

Review 50:Located on a busy, noisy street. The biggest thing was a very audible beeping traffic crossing that operates 24 hours a day.

Review 51:Very clean, and nicely updated. The bed was great.

Review 52:Wi-if was a bit slow.

Review 53:Each room has its own character! Very comfy beds, and super clean! The service and attention to detail in room was awesome. Owners very friendly and hardworking!

Review 54:I was wonderfully surprised when I walked into the room. I thought I was in an expensive Bed and Breakfast. Bed was beautiful...felt like a queen; bathroom immaculate; and not at all what I expected given the affordable price. Also liked being able to park in front of my door and not shlep into an elevator with luggage! I recommend it to everyone!

Review 55:Nothing negative; for this price range everything was perfect.

Review 56:Very clean and nicely renovated older motel. Not a place I would normally stop, but did so based on other good reviews. The least expensive room of our trip and without a doubt the most comfortable bed.

Review 57:We had some uninvited guests all over our pizza the next morning.... ANTS.

Review 58:The outside, although very neat and clean, looked kind of 70ish. But when I opened the door, BAM! I was blown away... The room was absolutely beautiful. Very up to date, VERY clean; actually felt exotic like. And the breakfast was just lovely.

Review 59:Extra nightstand with light for reading better than giant plant would be more useful.

Review 60:The owner, Stanley obviously cares about his property and offers an excellent solution to travelers needs. Although no pool or hot tub, there is a good shower and big comfortable bed. Clean room, good air, fridge, micro. Great value.

Review 61:It was not adjacent to I70, had to go through some neighborhoods to find the motel.

Review 62:It was old,(think pink bathtub) but maintained and comfortable. Single story, old type motel. No amenities, but good price, and perfect for a night on the road.

Review 63:This was hands down the noisy room I've ever been in. The windows donothing to abate noise, the vertical blinds are missing slats anddon't completely obscure the view into the room. You could see lightaround the door. Two very busy streets intersect this place - in short,a comfortable bed isn't worth it!

Review 64:The bed was very comfortable, as was the bed pillow.

Review 65:The bed could not have been more comfortable and the couple who own the motel take obvious pride in the place. Outside doesn't look like much but the rooms were both comfortable and spotless. A great experience for two tired motorcycle travellers.

Review 66:Everything was excellent

Review 67:The motel is really nice. The rooms have a color theme - the one we were in was way more classy than you'd expect from a motel. Staff were really nice. Pretty close ride to downtown which is alo really cool.

Review 68:WiFi was a bit slow, but free so okay. The place is a bit off the freeway, but didn't have any trouble finding our way.

Review 69:Room was clean and quiet, staff very friendly and helpful. Must try the Rib Joint restaurant just across the street. Great value for travelers.

Review 70:The hot water in our room took forever to come through.

Review 71:The owners reLly care about this motel. The rooms are individually and attractively decorated nd very comfortable.

Review 72:There needs to be a light over or near the table. Also, odd that the bathroom, including the door, is painted with flat paint instead of semi-gloss....the white door in particular was somewhat stained by dirty fingers from the past. Finally, while there is free wi-fi, at times it was very slow and we had to switch to cellular data.

Review 73:Nicely redone rooms w/wood floors and rugs, love to be able to park right outside the room, beds VERY comfortable, very clean, staff was friendly and helpful, welcoming atmosphere.

Review 74:Very comfortable bed and linens, hardwood laminate floors and fresh paint so the place was very clean without the deodorizer or dusty carpets. The owners were very friendly and accomdating. Quality juices, yogurt doughnuts and coffee for breakfast. I'd prefer staying with local owner than chains if I could find a place like this everywhere I go.

Review 75:It was kind of loud at the beginning of the evening. I thought the noise would never end, but around 9:30pm on a Wednesday evening...the noise subsided. The motel is located on a very busy intersection, but once it was quiet...it stayed that way until 6am.

Review 76:The bed was pretty luxurious for the price of the room. Very clean, too. Close to several restaurants, a wal-mart and downtown. Pet friendly! Free wi-fi!

Review 77:Unfortunately the bathroom had an unpleasant odor ...and the bed was a little too soft for our backs. Room has mini fridge and microwave and table but not a kitchenette

Review 78:Owner was very personable, room generally was clean and pleasantly decorated....made a good first impression.

Review 79:Had to whack the HVAC unit firmly several times to make it quit rattling--it was a cold night (teens) so couldn't turn it off--and we weren't the first to do so as the filter cover was already broken. Dining options nearby not so hot, but hey, it's Grand Junction, a time warp anyway--don't expect much.

Review 80:This is an older style property--think Route 66--that has been treated to a fantastic upgrade. Really nice beds, flat screen TV, Wi Fi, no carpeting housing EEEEW whatever. Almost walking distance to VA hospital. Large fridge, microwave, full size coffee maker. Noticed little noise from road--you are at a busy intersection. All rooms 'down and out' making your stay effortless. Super Clean! Stay here if you are tired of the 'chains'; much more pleasant.

Review 81:This may sound weird, but t the thing I appreciated most was the floor in the room. No gross carpet to trap spills, smells, etc. There was a nice, clean rug to provide some of warmth, but laminate floors that you could tell were very clean. It's the first time I dared to walk on a motel floor in bare feet without being skeeved out. The bedding was nice. I could tell there had been upgrades, and even though the tub was not new, it was also clean and functional.

Review 82:No counter in bathroom. Took a while to get hot water. Comforter was smelly. A better door lock would have made us feel safer considering area wasn't the best.

Review 83:Bed was comfy. Dog area close to room. Drive right up to room. Ok breakfast but area was very small.

Review 84:On a very noisy street. Heater was noisy and had to run all the time.Bathroom extremely small no counter space. Hot water took forever to come.

Review 85:Price, no carpet, microwave, fridge

Review 86:the air freshener was way too strongB.C.

Review 87:The bed was so comfortable. I have a sleep number at home but this bed was just as good. The room was beautiful. The room was very clean.

Review 88:Road noise and full time residents that like to party. No restaurant in walking distance that we wanted to eat at.

Review 89:Great price for what you get. Room was updates with comfortable bed, bathroom was not updated but ok. Breakfast not fancy but got the job done when going out early and not wanting to go for breakfast.

Review 90:There was a good amount of hair on my sheets like someone had a pet in the bed with them. When I asked for a new set to put on the bed they seemed offended and were short with me. I understand that things don't always work out perfectly, but I do expect a little professional courtesy when they don't.

Review 91:It was very quaint and actually pretty quiet for the location. The shower had good water pressure which felt awesome after our long bike ride that we were in town for. You could stay at much worse places for the price.

Review 92:On a very busy noisy road. Pets allowed and neighbours shut a dog in the room when they went out which whined and barked. Lots of noise in the morning and people stood outside the room talking loudly quite early in the morning.

Review 93:Relatively easy to find and in a good position for finding restaurants and getting downtown . Large room with comfortable beds and good shower.

Review 94:The Columbine Motel really is a gem of a Motel. It is quaint and full of character. I wasn't really quite sure what to expect for the price, which represents exceptional value for money, however I was pleasantly surprised. I really can't find fault with any aspect of our stay and will certainly be visiting again

Review 95:Stayed here for one night in late September. The room was very clean, and the bed comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A great value. We will stay here again during our next visit to Grand Junction!

Review 96:We had trouble with electrical outlet access. My husband needs to plug in a c-pap machine near the bed and there was no plug- in close, so he could not use it.

Review 97:easy access to the room, my husband is handicapped, we were able to pull up to the door and walk in to a nice very clean room. The staff was very friendly and personable, the location was easy to get in and out of.

Review 98:WiFi was a little slow.

Review 99:The room was beautiful! Great decorations, bed was extremely comfortable. It was near the road but very quiet. The staff (owners) were very nice and helpful. One of the best motels we stayed in on our trip!

Review 100:Can't think of a thing.

Review 101:The mattress and pillows were like new and very comfortable. The staff was meticulous about cleanliness and upkeep. The room was fairly large with extra touches to make it feel homey. It was better than I expected.

Review 102:I was traveling across Colorado on my motorcycle and I chose this motel based on previous reviews. The room was clean and comfortable. It was very convenient to park my bike right in front of my room. No issue with street noise. The breakfast selection was simple but satisfying.

Review 103:Room was a bit small and somewhat stuffy without the air conditioner fan on. They did supply a modest breakfast, but it was not clear that they did, so we were surprised at the offering in the lobby. There was no where to sit inside while consuming it, although (as noted) there is a gazebo on the lawn outside which was pleasant in the warm summer morning.

Review 104:Staff was very friendly. Room was very nicely decorated and clean. Wood floors were nice and floral arrangement on the bedside was a touch not usually seen in a motel. There was a well kept grassy area out front to walk our dog and a gazebo to sit outside. The king size bed was large and comfortable.

Review 105:I booked a King but when I got there they didn't have one. The room I ended up with was not very nice, bed was lumpy and bathroom barely functioned. Between street noise and guests next door I didn't get any sleep. And it was over priced to boot!

Review 106:TV package was limited and I couldn't get football games and NASCAR

Review 107:Very hospitable family owned business. I felt safe and comfortable. Prices fantastic for clean and newly updated rooms. Wifi and fresh donuts for breakfast ! I will and have come back

Review 108:Location on a long dreary boulevard of big box stores, cramped bathroom with tiny toilet.

Review 109:Excellent firm bed, nice linens, well maintained, nice staff.

Review 110:There was a large 'silk' tree next to the bed

Review 111:The owner's dog greeted us in the parking lot. It is on a fairly busy corner but the road noise was not a problem. The room was clean and comfortable. Great place to stay for the $$

Review 112:Ants! I woke up in the morning and noticed an ant on my two month oldbaby and just thought it was one ant. Nope! They were all over the dogfood we left out for our dog that we had paid ($10) to have there. Theninside of my diaper bag I had a wrapped up piece of brownie and theywere all over it and there were hundreds inside my diaper bag! Myhusband went to the owner and told him and gave him the opportunity tomake it right, I was thinking we would get at least half of our moneyback. There were tons of ants! He didn't want to do anything andsaid it was our fault for having food in there. Dog food? He knew wehad a dog. A small piece of brownie? Women, I'm sure you never haveany small pieces of food in your purse, right? Well, he insisted it wasour fault but gave us $10 back but was not nice about it at all. Iwould have actually been ok if he had warned us not to have food outbecause they have had ants. But nope, it was our fault! Because theywere those tiny hard to get rid of ants I was finding ants in our carfor the rest of our trip. It really was a good trip and we liked theplace until the ants!

Review 113:I don't give this motel all poor ratings because it was inexpensiveand the bed was comfortable.

Review 114:The updates are half done. The tub had a large rusted area that was covered up with the towel and soap.

Review 115:The hotel is partially updated, and the staff is nice. If you need a quick place to stay, it fits the bill.

Review 116:there was nothing I can say negative!!!

Review 117:This was an excellent motel friendly service.Excellant rooms. I would highly recommend it. We maintained over all great experience !!!!!

Review 118:If you're looking for a quiet place where you can sleep in, this place is not for you. The owners have one volume...LOUD! They are not extremely friendly to say the least. We had to leave the hotel early for an appointment, returning to our room early afternoon. Our room hadn't been cleaned yet (bed made, clean towels, trash removed). After lying down to relax and nap, there was a knock on our door to ask if we needed maid service. We were not permitted to receive clean towels until we turned in those that we used that morning....as if we were going to steal them?! I've never stayed in a hotel/motel where you only had access to 1/3 roll of toilet paper! Did I mention the loudness of owner's voices yelling from one end of building to another??!! Apparently, when they're awake and about, everyone else is expected to be too! No, my wife and I will not be staying here again. We need quiet to go along with the comfortable king size bed!!

Review 119:Comfort, accessibility to other businesses (restaurants, etc.), cleanliness, refrigerator, microwave, ability to park right outside of room. Early check-in.

Review 120:The overwhelming scent from plug-in oil that overpowered my brain. I suggest management remove these. I can't rebook if they are there. If you are sensitive to perfumes, be warned. Also the air conditioners are loud. Bring ear plugs.

Review 121:The rooms are maintained well and felt clean. We were impressed with the decor for a motel off north ave.

Review 122:The bathroom is rather small but has everything you need. The airconditioner is one of the older ones and while you doubt if it will work, it works perfectly fine.

Review 123:It was a really cute room. There is a pavillon outside and you could see that the owner tries hard to make the place comfortable. The breakfast is not much but enough. The owner is very friendly and if you need anything just go talk to her.

Review 124:A few minor issues that did not directly impact the stay, however, they took away from the overall impression of the facility: Large rust area (6" around) that was initially hidden by display of bath mat and shampoo; when we tried to adjust the air conditioner, some of the plastic pieces that direct the flow of air fell out.

Review 125:Priced right and basic, however, was pleasantly surprised by how nicely it was decorated. Beds were better than in some more expensive hotels.

Review 126:Breakfast room is a little small, but you could take breakfast to your room if necessary.

Review 127:Room was newly refurbished, clean and nicely furnished. Everything works: AC, TV, Frig, Microwave, etc. Breakfast offered a nice variety of adult and child favorites. Owner and his staff (mostly family) were very pleasant and accommodating. Nice quiet location close to biking in Grand Mesa, Kokopelli, Fruita,18 Roads area, etc. Also close to restaurants and National Monument. A good value and pleasant place to stay.

Review 128:When i booked i was fooled into thinking it came with a kitchen which is why i picked this place...I was not at all impressed...very disappointed. The AC unit was horrible, loud and the vent was broken so even when you turned on the air the vents were closed and you got nothing out of it...would of rathered stay at motel 6 or something.

Review 129:The comfort of the bed

Review 130:Location isn't ideal, west end of town away from the quaint downtown, but not bad.

Review 131:Nice management, very friendly. Simple, clean rooms. Great value for the price.

Review 132:Great value for money. Quality experience in a budget hotel. Centrally situated.
