Reviews for Opelika Inn - Opelika
Review 1:It is off the street down an alley with poor signage. Room needed upgrading. Electrical outlet behind lamp falling out of wall.
Review 2:Scarry area. Cancelled reservation for following football weekend bringing daughter and granddaughter.
Review 3:Broke down cars in the parking lot, no lights outside, spray paint over the hotel sign, and the office looked deserted. I pulled in,took one look around, and left. It looked very unsafe.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:There was obvious damage to the door where somebody tried to break in previously that had not been fixed. There was a large amount of stale urine all over the toilet that smelled to be at least a few days old and made going within a few feet of the bathroom quite unpleasant.
Review 6:It was a place to sleep and we didn't die.
Review 7:The room's décor was somewhat dated and in the bathroom repairs had been made repeatedly to the shower when really the whole unit should have been long ago replaced.
Review 8:The location was great. The price was unbeatable. The room was spacious for the money. The beds were very comfortable and I liked the TV. The Japanese/Asian restaurant on the site was absolutely superb, with large portions at a very affordable price.
Review 9:Bathroom had mold in ceiling, air conditioner looked like someone beat it, walls paint was peeling, had been repaired not painted, stains on walls, bedspread torn, door drug floor as if whole place had been flooded before. My dog sleeps in better place than this This should have been below. Liked nothing but too late to go somewhere else
Review 10:Was only there a few minutes the smell of mildew and mold was horrible furniture was falling apart beds was dirty hole in the bathroom floor you could see the room below and carpet wet to name a few things
Review 11:This hotel has not been updated since 1980. It was filthy and had no modern conveniences. I have never been so disgusted with a hotel in my life.
Review 12:Nothing.
Review 13:I liked nothing. It was terrible and I couldn't wait to get out. Mold all over the walls. Paint coming off the walls. Holes in the walls. Door broken. It was only place available during a football weekend to auburn. We made sure we were only there to sleep. We woke up at 6:30 and got the heck out of there.
Review 14:The carpet in the bathroom area was soaking wet and the whole room smelled like mildew. It was a non-smoking room, but I think cigarettes could have improved the air quality. The furniture was worn, with table legs splitting and a hole in the comforter. I was too afraid to turn on the shower to determine if it was usable. My boyfriend braved the bathroom when it was necessary... I held it. There were only two TV channels available - one local station on which we were lucky enough to catch NCIS, and porn. Lackluster porn at that. In the morning as we were leaving (long before normal check-out time), a sketchy dude in street clothes told us we could leave the room open to be "cleaned". I'm still not totally sure he was a hotel employee, but at this point he probably couldn't do much damage either way.
Review 15:Good location, not too far from Auburn and close to restaurants and gas. Decent price for the size of the room and the date of our stay (SEC football game).
Review 16:The staff was horrible, the room was nasty and had mold, there was no fire alarm and the doors wouldn't close properly or lock. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone.
Review 17:Absolutely nothing!!!
Review 18:Everything!!! The place was disgusting. Black mold in the bathroom. Police on scene dealing with some issue.
Review 19:Nothing. We didn't stay. It was nasty and the Police were on scene when we arrived.
Review 20:The rooms weren't particularly clean or updated. The property was poorly lit overall and our room door was not secure; the locks look like they had been previously kicked in so the door would not shut all the way. The dead bolt didn't work either. Went to another room; same thing. Door wouldn't shut and the room had an odor. Didn't feel safe enough to stay here.
Review 21:The low price lured me in.
Review 22:The door lock was hard to get unlocked. The toilet was dirty. The towels had a clump i f hair on them. Gross!! There's no mini fridge like the ad said and no wifi either. No can liners. The room was a smoking room with no ashtrays. Behind the night stand was filthy
Review 23:The bed was super comfortable
Review 24:The doors didn't lock, it stunk, and only had two working light bulbs out if 12. Rust on the microwave toilet and sink faucets. Looked like something out of a scary movie. We left and got another room after walking through the door!!
Review 25:when I opened the door there was black mold all over the walls and ceilings, the smell was appalling! I videoed the room because no one would ever believe how filty this place was, holes in the walls, it really needs to be condemned. If you wonder why we stayed... we had no other choice, there were no other hotels to rent as they were booked because of it being a football weekend. We almost slept in the car but felt we would be safer inside the hotel. it was a scary area. never again!!!!I hope the health department shuts this place down. The rates were outrageous for this dump.
Review 26:The only thing this place had going for it was the nice man that checked us in, other than that it is a dump
Review 27:The room was completely filthy! Bathroom door had a hole in it, the microwave had an unknown species growing in it and the fridge was frozen over. But the most unsettling part was when we turned on the TV there was 2 channels available a sports channel and an adult only channel!!! The front desk had to come move some wires around to hook up the "right cable"
Review 28:There was mildew growing two or three feet up the walls in the whole room! My 24 year old daughter got physically ill and could not breath. The older man working the front desk was as friendly as a pit bull. We actually left our dog in the car! Other than that it was great.
Review 29:The bathroom was filthy; My grandchildren was crying because they didnot want to place their feet in the fility tub. I strongly suggest youmove these type hotels from your listing. It was so unfortunate we hadto stay in this dump because all the hotels around us were booked. Ifthis hotel was $0 I would not spend a second there.
Review 30:The tv remote and phone not working. Therefore we could not call the front desk without looking up the number and using our cell. Overall it was clean with the exception of a coke bottle on the floor. It is in severe need of a remodel. The shower was about to fall apart and the decor was terrible!
Review 31:It was a convenient location for after football game travel.
Review 32:The facilities were horrible. We had to go to 3 different rooms as the locks were broken on the first two rooms so we couldn't enter with the key given. When we finally got into the 3rd room, it smelled like mildew, had tons of bugs crawling around and gave off the impression it hadn't been touched in weeks.
Review 33:1. Was over priced for the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms. 2. Microfridge did not work at all 3. Light above sink didn't work 4. Can push in the back wall of the shower 5. The water in the pool area is green with algea. 6. Oder in the room in which I stayed. Was probably a smoking room at one time. 7. No coffee in rooms 8. Grass needs to be cut 9. Paint Job needed both inside of hotel and outside of hotel 10. A new and better hotel sign
Review 34:1. Right off the interstate 2. The AC worked good 3. Bed actually comfortable
Review 35:Everything.
Review 36:I can't think of anything. Umm, the old TV worked I guess. If you like pillows stained with human fluids and moldy floors then this is your place.
Review 37:We stayed here for the Auburn game because it was cheap. We found out it wasn't cheap enough. The rooms were disgusting. The walls were dirty with things spilled on them. The bathroom and toilet was dirty. There was a big spot on the rug where something had spilled and not been cleaned up. Also when we took a shower or flushed the toilet water would leak into the bedroom, making the carpet soaking wet. We stayed here bc of the price, but were then charged double and now have to fight it to get the extra charge refunded due to them not wanting to work with us. A $113 two night stay turned into a $226 stay. So not worth the trouble. Just pay the extra and stay somewhere else. I would rather sleep in my car next time.
Review 38:It was close to Auburn and the Japanese place is good beside it.
Review 39:kinda run down, but cheap
Review 40:rooms where equipped with a/c and a small fridge, bed was better than a cot,i was looking for a cheap place to lay down and this one fit the bill. got my moneys worth
Review 41:room smell musty and tv kept going off and on...will not go there again
Review 42:nice big room ...
Review 43:Nothing it was horrible
Review 44:Very dirty
Review 45:Not a thing
Review 46:Everything
Review 47:Just needs updating!
Review 48:The price was great!
Review 49:n/a
Review 50:affordable and convenience.
Review 51:moldy, leaky roof
Review 52:Price
Review 53:Internet a bit slow at first, then it seemed to pick up better speed.
Review 54:Staff will do anything for you.
Review 55:No pool :-)
Review 56:Great place to stay for the money. I have stayed here twice with no issues at all.
Review 57:It was dirty.
Review 58:The place smelled.
Review 59:Overpriced for nasty room. Nasty room. Nasty bathroom. This is 5 cliche roach motel
Review 60:Not overpriced like other gameday hotels.
Review 61:Everything. .
Review 62:Nothing at all
Review 63:Dirty. Old. Run down. Questionable neighborhood. Rusty sheets. Stains looked like blood. Holey comforters and sheets. Simply nasty.
Review 64:Unsafe Dirty We left after 2 hours. Lots of young males hanging around in door ways, felt very uncomfortable
Review 65:Beyond dirty and disgusting. It should be condemned. Not a good deal at any price
Review 66:Room didn't smell fresh, walls and shower had scrapes and holes. Very dingy and old.
Review 67:This was the absolute worse hotel I have stayed at in a developed nation. Dirty would be a compliment.
Review 68:I'm still alive.
Review 69:This place is a health hazard! Mold, mildew, no smoke detector. Calling the health department because this place should not be in business!!!!!
Review 70:Not ideal location behind a restaurant and not well maintained.
Review 71:Convenient to Auburn University.
Review 72:I hated the place, it smelled terrible, looked nasty, and was extremely uncomfortable!
Review 73:It was cheap
Review 74:filthy, not easy to get to for handicapped, charged my card even though noted i would pay cash at arrival. very scetchy location. stay away!
Review 75:nothing
Review 76:Sketchy area, parking area dark, beds dirty, holes in bathroom walls, bath tub stopped up, shower sprayed water every where, room had an odor. Poor tv quality. This hotel was also hard to find and was not even worth the cheap rate. The staff was rude and lobby area had a horrible smell as well. Hotel does not have a proper/modern way to take debit/credit cards and still give actual keys to rooms. The hotel should be shut down by the BBB.
Review 77:Room was trashy but really you get what you pay for. Of we had planned on spending any time in this room there is no way we would have stayed here. This hotel is perfect for game day weekend stays only.
Review 78:It is a short drive to Auburn.
Review 79:Horrible!! Priced too high for loudsy service beginning w checkin. Room smelled like mildew and shower not working properly. Water takes too long to get hot. Worse I have stayed in ever!!
Review 80:Nothing at all!!! Priced too high for loudsy service beginning w checkin. Room smelled like mildew and shower not working properly. Water takes too long to get hot. Worse I have stayed in ever!!
Review 81:EVERYTHING...it was filthy. There was mold growing through the 100 layers of chipped and cracked paint on the bathroom wall and the toilet had mildew growing under the rim. The carpet was sticky and damp. The mattress itself was comfy enough but my sheets were discolored and stained. I had requested a non-smoking room and it was obvious there had been smoking in there and they had tried to mask it by burning incense which was so strong I got an instant headache.
Review 82:Leaving
Review 83:The room was beyond dirty, toilet had green stuff around it and dirt, grim. The floor was trashy, the bed had burn holes and sheets were yellowish..never stay there again......waist of money,worth20.00
Review 84:The guest service was great with lovely attitude.
Review 85:You get what you pay for. Mildew. Double charged me. No organized. Bathroom falling apart. Mold in bathroom. Sketchy people. Appliances falling apart. No sheets. Nasty comforters.
Review 86:It was dirt cheap.
Review 87:The place is a rathole. Very visible mildew, dirt, bugs, spider webs onwalls and in corners. Live roaches and other bugs lurking around. Noneof the amenities advertised were in the room except cable. No fridge, nocoffee maker, no shampoo, no blow dryer. Bathroom smelled of urine, roomsmelled horribly musty. Feared for our safety. Pictures on your site arequite misleading. This place is a health hazard and anyone with arespiratory condition would be in danger as well.
Review 88:Nothing positive to say
Review 89:Didn't like that bottom sheets were not fitted sheets. It would not stay on the bed. And pillows were to flat. Need more pillows on the king size beds.
Review 90:The privacy was great. And didn't have to worry about housekeeping beating on the door and waking you up early.
Review 91:it was really run down. the sign says "opelika inn" and not knight's inn. it's hard to find when you are looking for a completely different motel.
Review 92:Safety concerns: Sketchy area- closed restaurant next door; set backfrom road; drug deal going on outside our door; doors did not have deadbolts; people who weren't guests standing around in the parking lotHealth/Cleanliness concerns: The bathroom had pieces of the tub missing;there were cockroach parts on the mattress pad; These issues resulted inus having to leave the hotel and finding another hotel to stay in formore money but safer and cleaner conditions. We will not recommendKnights Inn to others due to our expreience.
Review 93:Able to book 2 nights vs. 3 nights and the cost per night.
Review 94:(a) Mold on the bathroom and on the bathroom fixtures; (b) smoke detector sitting on the shelf--not installed; (c) water from tub faucet sprays all over the bathroom;(d) towels and washcloths felt like they were made out of cactus needles and were so frayed they were barely usable; (e) bulb sockets in lamps are so loose, they lean; no television remote in room. This place is a dump. If I hadn't been there with my husband, i.e., traveling alone, I would never have stayed here.
Review 95:It was near where we needed to be.
Review 96:Health Dept needs to be made aware of the unsanitary conditions! Should be shut down! Filthy! Bowel was on bed linens and bathroom wall. Bathroom was filthy! Used condom in front of room. Traveled with my daughter and 15 yr old granddaughter for AU ballgame. Was not aware they had 24 hr, hard core PORN on TV until found changing channels! Feared for our safety in this dump!
Review 97:Sheets were thread bare and uncomfortable. Blankets were sratchy and stiff. There was no shampoo and poor quality soap. The towels were little, old and hard and not enough to dry your body. Only 2 towels
Review 98:no should be less money
Review 99:no comment
Review 100:No fitted sheets on bed very cheap towels
Review 101:Hot shower!
Review 102:Very rundown
Review 103:This was more like a rent by the hour hotel!
Review 104:The bugs, the broken outlet, THE SMELL!!! Location
Review 105:The staff was so clueless, it was nice to witness blissful ignorance
Review 106:Mold in bathroom..caused asthma attack
Review 107:Sleeping was good
Review 108:Go up in price for football game weekend
Review 109:Needs improvement and needs to spray for bugs.
Review 110:The room smelled Terrible! We were afraid to walk barefoot on the floor.
Review 111:Did not like the bugs, the hair in the bath tub.
Review 112:It is run down , the room was ok but I had concerns for my safety and left early.
