Reviews for Harveys Lake Tahoe
Review 1:Cleanliness, sunflower seeds in the bathtub, sticky floors, lipstick on glasses. Looked like a setup for a TV show about lack of hotel Cleanliness and why I should bring my own pillow
Review 2:Location. Closer to the gondola, bars and obviously casinos.
Review 3:The room was so small and uncomfortable. Harvey's would never be my first choice to stay, when I have been going to Lake Tahoe for 24 years. the tv wouldn't even work.
Review 4:Close to casinos
Review 5:Resort fee tax a lot of extras. Was given wrong room 1st night and told it was a booking.com mistake when I think the hotel had just over booked! Next room was correct but right next to elevators and not worth money charged for room! Tried to contact booking.com couldn't get through!
Review 6:Good location good restaurant options
Review 7:Did not like the heavy smoke that infiltrated the room at times and the hard beds. I did not like the show bath as the floor would get really wet and not enough towels to mop it up.
Review 8:I liked the location and the staff was nice and accommodating.
Review 9:we got in late after a 9 hour drive from the bar area. we requested a certain room and it was not available. I notified we were going to be late twice. we got to the hotel after midnight and the room and other rooms was booked. the lady was rude to me and my wife by treating us like kids, and was upset with me for asking for a certain room.
Review 10:switching rooms for a better one the next day. the morning staff is wonderful.
Review 11:The food at Cabo Wabo was very poor quality. I will not eat there on any return visits.
Review 12:The renovated rooms are nice. Love having Starbucks right near the elevator. Housekeeping was efficient. All the staff I encountered were friendly.
Review 13:Room would have been nice if it was not located near the elevator. At the time of the booking we asked for non smoking and not by the elevator. After trying out the room for a couple of hours we asked to be moved. No questions asked we were moved and given a upgrade.
Review 14:Upgrade!
Review 15:Wifi service wasn't good! Only 2 devices are allowed to use the wifi. If there you have extra people then you have to pay for wifi for them to use!
Review 16:The room and the location of the hotel!
Review 17:Food burgers and bad pizza fried foods only thing to eat in casino and south shore unless you want to spend $$$ for a steak .casino minimum bets $10 blackjack with 4 decks $2 minimum bet just to play a roulette spin what happened to $2 blackjack and 25 cent roulette trying to make gambling for the rich only!
Review 18:Every inch of this place from bathrooms to restaurants to the no smoking rooms smells like smoke. No coffee pot. Lots of creepy old, poor people wandering around.
Review 19:Good mattress, large room for the money, access to two hotels via the tunnel. And we actually were trying to decide between the Hard Rock and Harveys. And the indoor pool made our decision for us.
Review 20:Uncomfortable beds, we had booked a room with 2 queen beds, and we're told they had rented them all out. We had to be moved to another room, and we're charged for it :(
Review 21:Clean room, friendly staff, reasonably priced
Review 22:Additional charges once arrived at the hotel for the room that we were not informed about which made the price the same as booking it off the hotel website. Didn't save a dime.
Review 23:Convieniant location
Review 24:We had a room that was at the very end and it was not close to any elevator. Also the rooms were very small, thought the deal we got through the Internet was a deal. We had a view of the roof of the casino and vents.
Review 25:The pillows were horrible they were so flat, and only two flat pillows on the bed :(And we really wanted to see the boxing match that was playing that weekend but you were not showing it
Review 26:I liked that the room was in the casino
Review 27:Casino machines were SO tight, didn't see or hear any one winning....so I quit! Food in the bar, (we had an appetizer) was terrible. Altho the drinks were good, and bar tender was very accommodating.
Review 28:The bed was very comfortable.
Review 29:Front desk rude and unhelpful at checkin. Waiter delivering room service rude, food delivery not food service, expected more from this hotel. High priced, poor service throughout entire hotel.
Review 30:I love Lake Tahoe, my room had a view of the lake.
Review 31:I don't like fine print fees. Charging for wifi is ridiculous.
Review 32:The only thing good was the location and there were 3 other hotels that would have been better.
Review 33:We booked the value room but then asked to be upgraded to another room. Loved the upgraded room. Value rooms are separated on older side with older carpet in hallways and when you walk down the hallway to upgraded side the carpet changes and is newer. The upgraded room was much better, larger and beds super comfy. Well worth paying a little more.
Review 34:Harveys is a Tahoe institution. The location is great, room was clean, and every staff person I had contact with was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Review 35:exhaust fan in bathroom was out. total waste of shower water, came at you like a fire hose, no way to lower pressure. NO coffee maker or microwave oven in room. Disappointing
Review 36:Location, lots of table games
Review 37:The T.V. kept going out and we tried to watch a movie 5 times but it wouldn't work. We were told to bill it to our room but at check out it showed $73.00 added to our bill. I went to the desk and they took it off. If I hadn't checked the bill I might have been billed for it.
Review 38:When our T.V. stopped working the staff were very helpful and gave us a free movie.
Review 39:This third time sucked. No frig. No micro. Doubled the price. Best of all. Found dried blod on a hand towel not washed by house cleaning. Ordered new set of towels. Disappointed and gross.
Review 40:This is the thrid time we stayed at Harveys. The first two times excellent. Good value. Nice rooms with micro frig and view.
Review 41:Our room 535 was claustrophobic. I am 5 foot 6 and I could reach up and touch the ceiling in the bathroom. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. We requested a room with a Lakeview and we received a room with a view of The rooftop that included industrial vents. Also, it was our 26th wedding anniversary and I told the clerks. You would think that for such an occasion they may be able to do a better job then a room with a view of vents. We were told that our room was in the remodeled section of the hotel. If that is the case the room was especially disappointing.
Review 42:The price and the restaurants. Also, housekeeping delivered a Keurig coffee maker to our room.
Review 43:I walked into my room and the t.v. was on so I grabbed the remote to turn it off. The remote was absolutely disgusting. It was slimed with something I don't even want to guess what it was. When the bellman brought arrived with my luggage I asked him to feel it. He said it was probably a chemical used to clean the room. A chemical strong enough to melt plastic??? Also, they still use glasses in the bathroom when held up to the light were dirty. Two last moans, there was only one available electrical socket and internet was not free. That should cover my complaints.....
Review 44:The staff was wonderful, very accommodating and friendly. The bed was comfortable.
Review 45:Room was kind of smelly and old. Needs remodeling. Front desk greeted us with a frown and didnt smile once even when we told her we'd just gotten married two days prior. Didn't say congrats either. She seemed grumpy and only interested in upselling us. Didn't appreciate the mandatory resort fee surprise which really jacked the room price up. Overall, this is a decaying property that hasn't had love in a long time, with what appears to be disgruntled staff who fail to understand the term "hospitality"
Review 46:Location is awesome.
Review 47:Either very expensive or almost inedible food choices at the casino. Theroom was unexceptional. The biggest annoyance is that they put a $50hold charge on my card in case I made any charges and then took about aweek to remove the hold. They also take a $20 "facilities "fee or some other lame excuse to raise the cost of the stay.I won't stay there again.
Review 48:Room at casino with another casino across the street.
Review 49:We were placed on a floor with dogs (barking)....and were not told this when we received our room assignment. If we had stayed more than one night we would have complained and asked to be moved to a floor without dogs. This section of the hotel needs to be refurbished or renovated....
Review 50:The cocktail waitress take way too long to get your drink while you're gambling at the machines. Also they are not very friendly. The check in staff at the counter were very friendly.
Review 51:I think the best part is the location and the fact that you don't have to leave because everything you need is inside the hotel...food, coffee, snacks, entertainment.
Review 52:- wifi included for 2 devices only (we were 3 people, and it costs 10$ for one device more... for 24 hours!!) - no coffee-maker in the room - no fridge in the room
Review 53:- property - location
Review 54:Confirmed king sized bed through reservations, upon arrival found that the hotel doesn't guarantee bed size when booking through a site like booking.com. parking garage was dirty, trash laying about and sticky floors in elevator lobby. Very little lighting in the room.
Review 55:Bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Sports bar had good food.
Review 56:The view from my room was not that great I think if you give a person a view if the roof and ac unit then you should cut the price down on that room fyi
Review 57:Had a good time with friends and place was nice
Review 58:The scrambled eggs were not what I expected and the bagel was cold. The fruit was amazing!
Review 59:I loved the view and how nice the room was decorated. Even though the room showed quite a bite of ware.
Review 60:I had lost my Husband - Thomas Tritch to Multiple Myeloma on March 27-15. My mother - Hilde Maron flew down from Bellingham WA. to be with me for a week. She suggested we take a drive to Lake Tahoe and stay at Harvey's. When we checked in on Tuesday 9-29 we asked to have an upgrade to our room. Bob the Manager gave us the upgrade with a view of the mountains to our left and the lake to our right. We were on the 9th floor, Room 909. We stayed two nights. What a view!!!! We are so grateful to Bob the Manager. He did not charge us any extra for that room either. My mother is 83 and the memories we shared together will last a life time. Thank you Bob and the wonderful Clerk who checked us in. She too went above and beyond. Sincerely, Therisa Marie Tritch
Review 61:The price quoted on the Booking.com web page is not what is charged. I feel Harveys/Booking.com are 'fraudulently' showing a competitive room price and then charging $20 extra per night as a so called management/resort fee. I queried the extra $20 per day on my bill as i went out of my way to avoid using the facilities. I was told by Harveys reception staff to take it up with Booking.com. looking at my original booking i saw that it mentioned the price quoted excluded the resort fee. It did not say the resort fee was compulsory.
Review 62:It would take a long letter to point out all the bad points. It was one step below Motel6. Small room, no extras like coffee maker etc. Not one breakfast place in the whole Hotel, Long walks for parking, pet area and to top it all off, triple the price of nice Motels nearby.
Review 63:The location
Review 64:classic king on 5th floor was in the middle of "dogs in room" door tags. heard them barking on occasion. i have a dog but did not appreciate being on vacation with other dogs along side of my room. The casino and restaurants were disappointing.. low overhead in casino and a maze to find restaurants.
Review 65:Was advertised as free WiFi in the rooms. Wrong, you have to pay forWiFi it's part of the resort fee $22.60. But get this when I checkedin they gave me room keys in a little booklet that had a piece of papersaying that you had to paid for the WiFi and the price for each level. So, not wanting to spend any more money on a room that was advertised asfree Wifi, I went without. When I got home and was reviewing the bill Inoticed a $22.60 dollar resort fee. My question is, they knew I wasgoing to be charged the $22.60 resort fee so why wasn't there codefor the WiFi and a list of other extras things that come along with theresort package I was paying for.It has been years since I've been in buildings that allowed smoking within them. Within a minute I remembered all the things a hate about smoking. Burning eye, nose, throat, and that wonderful stink in clothing.
Review 66:Nice room.
Review 67:When checking in they tried to get us to pay $20.00 more per night to upgrade room. When we declined they put us in room right on wall of elevators , so we could hear and feel them all night. The hotel wasn't close to being full. Will make me consider other properties going forward.
Review 68:Liked the overall location. Loved having Starbucks at hotel.
Review 69:not enough staff. no coffee makers in the rooms, I don't mind spending this kind of money for one night, but amenities should be better & they are not
Review 70:location
Review 71:Only one pillow per person on bed, had to ask for more.
Review 72:The bellman/valet noticed there were 4 of us ladies and volunteered to bring extra towels. He also brought us bottled water and was so courteous. Also, I LOVE that there is a large magnified mirror by the bath counter for make-up. So convenient!
Review 73:I like the pool and hot tub area very much. It was outside and the reflections of the mountain clouds on the reflective hotel walls from the pool in the afternoon was interesting and artistic. Our room had a nice view and was comfortable.
Review 74:The arcade is broken (at least half of the games/machines) so it takes your money like the slot machines. The pool and hot tub are a trek from the rooms (back through the convention center) but overall kept up well.
Review 75:The staff at Harvey's was friendly and helpful. The location is right in the center of all of the casinos, so it's easy to walk everywhere.
Review 76:I didn't really care of the sports book in terms of how it was laid out and the monitors you had for the games. The Tvs were opposite of where the odds were be displayed so you constantly had to get up from where you were sitting to walk over to see the odds.
Review 77:I love the location of your hotel.
Review 78:When I checked out, the clerk at the front desk gave me some one else's receipt. Did I pay for the third party? Will find out after I receive my credit card statement. Very unprofessional.
Review 79:Dogs barking, kids yelling, adults yelling, security called to room next door at 3:30 AM. Hotel did not honor Booking.com price. Only $5.00 but still! Bed was old, uncomfortable.
Review 80:The Mountain Tower rooms are plain awful. They are tiny, and extremely dated. It's similar to a Motel 6. Actually, the rooms are probably smaller than Motel 6. However, they did upgrade our room to the Lake Tower, which is much better!
Review 81:The front desk upgraded our room when we explained the room we booked was not adequate and in no way worth the $220 per night we paid for two nights.
Review 82:Only place I have stayed in 20 years that had no coffee in room and the line at Starbucks was half to 3/4 hour long with lots of grumbling customers. Coffee in the room is a welcoming gesture Also no place for breakfast in whole casino.Casino including rooms needed to be cleaned or freshened up. Also the extra fees made our $230 room for 2 nights $340.
Review 83:Convenience to casinos. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 84:The service around the casino was great. Only problem I ran into was in your café where they sat us quick, but we sat there waiting for drinks and a menu for ever. We just left and ate elsewhere.
Review 85:The staff and waitresses were really friendly and helpful. I love how this place is and after all the years it has been there.
Review 86:Harvey's Staff was rude and did not honor requested bookingspecifications (bed sizes). Booking.com Agents were very helpful inattempting to resolve the situation, however they experienced the samerudeness from Harvey's, that I experienced in person, when I wasgiven a room that had 2 queen beds(and no view as it was facing theinterior wall) vs a King that was ordered (more expensive and was on thereservation). Harvey's staff indicated they do not guarantee bedsizes (even though on the Harvey's own website they have differentprices for beds sizes, but do offer a cheaper value room that does not). The only option Harvey gave me was I could leave as they were bookedsolid and would not make any accommodations or discounts. We alreadytraveled a good distance to celebrate a major anniversary and obviouslywas not a good way to start the trip. I would not recommendHarvey'S.
Review 87:Location was near the beach and attractions
Review 88:I didn't like how the room I got didn't look anything like the picture of the room I booked! I could hear barking dogs in the rooms on either side. It's funny when knowing that the rooms on the same floor charge a lot more for pets and you get the same quality either way. The room had a horrible view of the roof. I felt like my hubby and I got a cheesy room for what we paid, kind of like Vegas- If you don't upgrade when you're given the chance, they give you the horrible rooms that are tucked away from everything. There was no self parking unless it was across the street!! The worst part of the whole thing was that the hotel staff had no answers about the concert I was seeing. When they attempted to answer my simple questions, they were all incorrect and I almost missed the artist I paid a lot of money to see. It should've been relaxing and stress free. Complete opposite. The Hard Rock was poorly managed in their restaurants as well. My waiter tried to impersonate Michael Jackson for tips (no joke!!) It's not worth the long drive after this experience. Oh, and I had to call the front desk twice to have a fan delivered to my room and was connected both times to someone whom barely spoke English! ;)
Review 89:I liked how the concert I saw was conveniently on the same property.
Review 90:Requested a high floor, even when arriving I had asked the service desk person about being able to have a higher floor. Very rude, and said the only higher floor is a suite for 250$ a night more. Very expensive hotel, and our room was as big as a cardboard box. We're on 4th floor and had veiw of roof (ugliest veiw I've ever seen in a hotel) no speck of mountain or anything beautiful about Tahoe. The couple we traveled with paid less at montbleu for a beautiful room & terrific veiw. My boyfriend called for room service and they stated hours were only 6am-11am very disappointing. Will not return to this hotel.
Review 91:I liked the location. And the service at the Hard Rock Cafe was very good.
Review 92:Our room was tiny. Hotel smells like smoke...I wish the ventilation were better.
Review 93:Enjoyed the view from our room. Hotel Location was great! The Sage Room is delish!
Review 94:Desk clerk tells me hotel is slow this week. I knew this and is why Igive them business via aaa reservation, Sept 3. Instead of nice thankyou and maybe comp upgrade for the support , we are put at the end ofthe "dog floor" rm 570" in old bldg---the hallway is wetwith dog pee. I felt treated like we were some homeless guy getting afree room ?? And the hotel is 50% empty and they treat us this way!!!Never stay again!!
Review 95:Night desk clerk was friendly and supportive over my complaint and movedus to higher level floor without dog pee in the hallway.
Review 96:Real expensive for the friday, Saturday.
Review 97:Best location, wish we could have stayed our whole duration here. If it were a lil more affordable for 5 nights.
Review 98:because the room was reasonably priced, we did not have the choice to ask for a view of the lake..... I guess if we booked through Harveys we could have asked for a view....
Review 99:It was very relaxing, the weather was great, not a lot people.
Review 100:Our room was located directly behind the elevator, so throughout the night the sound of the elevator ascending and descending was as loud and disruptive to sleep as a locomotive right outside the window! When I complained to staff, they informed me that that is because I went through Booking.com and that that is how they are able to offer prices less than the going rate of the rooms. In other words, it was my fault.
Review 101:Although we stayed at Harvey's, I liked that we were allowed to use the pool at either Harvey's or Harrah's.
Review 102:No easy chair in room to just sit and read. No decent place to get a reasonably priced bacon and eggs breakfast. Price of room deceptive as added "resort fees" and taxes added huge amount to final bill. Can't stand the smoky lobby and casino.
Review 103:The view. Also loved the shower head and comfortable bed.
Review 104:For what we paid for $250.00 a night (the value room) was insane for what we got. The room was so small it was ridiculous. There was just enough room to walk around the bed to the door. There was not even a little coffee pot! You would think if you pay that much money you would at least get better than what we got....nothing! We will never stay there again.
Review 105:Nothing at all!
Review 106:Room very basic....no fridge or fan in bathroom.....one sink area Most restaurants closed too early. Srawhat open later but no table service.
Review 107:Staff and location and value
Review 108:I didn't have a bad experience but I do feel the rooms need to be updated. I paid $300 plus a night for a room and expected it to be more luxurious. The carpet and furniture are from the 70's.
Review 109:The location was perfect. We were there to see Dierks Bentley at Harvey's Outdoor Arena so being able to walk over to it was so convenient. Also, liked that the restaurants served late so we could grab a bite after the concert. Love that venue.
Review 110:We had reserved a King bed with a mountain view. Received a 2 queenthem bed room on the 5th floor facing the parking garagebed. Every room around us had dogs in them so we had the pleasure of listening to peoples dogs barking and or crying while in our room. I called the from desk as soon as we got into our room asking about the king bed with mountain view...Kate/or Katie was very rude an said well you booked with a 3rd party so you get what's ever available not what you reserved. This was my 5 year anniversary so I was doing my best to not let Harvey's ruin it. My room description also at reservation said we would have a fridge...guess what we didn't have!? So the nice bottle of champagne we brought to celebrate ended up coming back home with us. Thank you Harvey's for your hospitality!! Never again will I stay here. Not sure if other places are going to treat you like a red headed step child for using bookings.com, but beware.
Review 111:I did not like what so ever that this hotel did not supply complimentary coffee. Forced to get dressed to have my first cup in the morning at Starbucks
Review 112:I liked the staff from the valets to the desk clerks and how compensating they were to my needs
Review 113:Would have liked a dressing gown and you need a Masters degree to understand the bill on checkout. They take random payments daily from your card so it takes a lot of working out what will be refunded. They take 3 days to refund the payments and charge you fully on checkout so it takes a lot of your holiday money. They don't explain this at check in. Our $373 room plus $200 restaurant bill resulted in $1000 of deductions and we have to wait for the refund. It's illogical. Plus the guy on reception couldn't work it out, we had to call for further explanation after we left.
Review 114:Location is great and the sheer size of the place is amazing. Room decor is lovely as are the views.
Review 115:Room too small and no refrigerator in room. Also light bulb was out in our room .... not worth the price we paid !!!!
Review 116:I was not as happy with this hotel. I would NOT recommend it to anyone ...
Review 117:my stay was too short. Next time it will be longer.
Review 118:I liked being so close to the concert venue, not having to drive or park the car. I liked the view from my window and enjoyed all the stores / shops/ restaurants around the hotel.
Review 119:No bad experience. Our room was fair, a coffee machine would have been nice. I don't understand why they took a credit card for a $50 deposit, there really wasn't much to the room, I'll need to check if they charged us more... There was nothing that would make us want to stay there again or not, either way. I would consider other options.
Review 120:Since we attended a concert at Harvey's, we enjoyed the convenience... for the price it was a place to lay your head.
Review 121:Way over priced. This is a three star hotel in a nice location. I guess the overly high prices let's them discount heavy to high roller gamers.
Review 122:Next to outdoor arena where show played
Review 123:Booked a value package for two rooms through Booking.com. This hotel apparently doesn't realize that "value" requires more than a (not particularly) good price. I stayed in 10 hotels on this extended family trip through California and Nevada. Paid about the same price each night. These rooms were by far the worst. One barely had room for the bed. The other was adjacent to the elevators with insufficient sound deadening. Rooms were older and did not appear to have been updated in many years. Staff was dismissive. If you have the opportunity to visit Lake Tahoe, do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
Review 124:Location is great.
Review 125:Harveys charges a $22 Resort Fee...nothing in return...why not adjust the room fee or not charge it at all..
Review 126:Clean modern room....helpful and professional staff. We had a great meal in their steak house Harveys Sage Room....excellent!
Review 127:Old furniture. Marks on walls. Dirty carpet needs upgrading. Very 50's. Even though no smoking floor stunk of cigarettes.
Review 128:Staff was great. Had to change rooms. accommodating.
Review 129:Room wasn't cleaned. Lady showed up at 3, we asked to come back half an hour later to clean as we were getting ready to go to pool. We came back at 4:30- room wasn't cleaned... So we run out of toilet paper... Very dissapointed. Tried buffet and cafe at Harrah'- horrible... opening time isn't clearly posted- or brochures outdated
Review 130:Loved location, security personnel very friendly and helpful.
Review 131:Not really a bad experience, but the appearance of the grounds are a bit unkempt. The parking garage is dirty and planter boxes are overgrown. Rooms are top notch and classy. All I'm saying is that the grounds do detract from overall appearance.
Review 132:Great room with a view of the lake.
Review 133:Kinda pricey for the room I stayed in. I usually get a nice suit with a hot tub when i go to vegas for the price I pay here.
Review 134:Love the staff great all around especially in the casino. Food is awesome.
Review 135:There is lack of a variety of mid range restaurants; the only breakfast restaurant within walking distance is at Harrah's -- it was good, but I would have liked more choices.
Review 136:Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was roomy, and the water pressure in the shower was good. The staff was very pleasant.
Review 137:The carpeting in the hallways and room had some stains and could use a good cleaning.
Review 138:The front desk clerk was wonderful! She upgraded our room when she found out we were there for our 25th wedding anniversary which we really appreciated. Being non-smokers, the air quality in the casino area was surprisingly good which we really liked. The comedy show (Bobby Collins) at the Improv Comedy Club was excellent! Shopping, gambling & dining was all within walking distance from the resort.
