Reviews for Akay Pension

Review 1:The owner, Kazim, was very helpful regarding where to visit in the area and suggesting walks. The dinner, which we had on two nights , was excellent and good value for money. It is cooked by Kazim's wife and is real Turkish food.

Review 2:Nothing!!

Review 3:This is a lovely 11 room pension run by Kazim and Ayse and they do a wonderful job. We received such a warm greeting, sitting down for tea and cake while Kazim gave us information. Ayse has to be the best cook around and we stayed there both evenings for their set meal....why go anywhere else? Rooms were clean and nicely shut out from those mosquitoes. The pool area is lovely and the whole pension is spotless. We stayed in Patara to do some hiking and loved the convenience of the hotel to the Lycian Way. We basically had the Patara ruins to ourselves - a nice intimate feeling all around.

Review 4:We stayed at Akay in 2013 and again in september 2015. This pension isreally nice: the owner is very friendly and helpful, the rooms aresimple but good. The cleaning of the room and changing of towels etc.seems to be not every day. This was the same in other Turkish pensionswe stayed in. If cleaning is wanted, it seems best to ask for it. Fordinner there is a set menu which evening after evening is very good. Weate there every evening because it was so good. Patara has an excellentbeach: long, sand no stones. In this region there are many opportunitiesfor walking especially the Lycean way. You can ask the owner for advice. We also made several day trips. Our trip to the ancient city of Pinarawas the best. The hamam in Patara is said to be very good. We didn'tgo there because they were fully booked. So is you want to go, it'sbest to book ahead.

Review 5:Kazim, who owns and runs Akay Pension, waited for us to arrive after midnight from Dalaman airport (a transfer he had organised). He cooked us a meal, and was solicitous about any other needs we might have. Short of tucking us into bed, it was like arriving home! Over the next week, we continued to be 'looked after' with exceptional friendliness and charm in this lovely, quiet, little hotel. Kazim's wife, Ayse, added an unexpected dimension to our stay: wonderful food. She would produce a traditional Turkish meal each evening. They were so tempting, we rarely ate out. Akay and Patara are like going back in time to a world where gentle hospitality is normal.

Review 6:Excellent and incredibly friendly staff and service. Fabulous authentic food experience. We'd recommend anybody to come and stay at Akay pension in astonishing Patara.

Review 7:The Akay family is unique. The sign, just right in the hall, "may all who enter as guest leave as friends", sums up everything. It was extremely hard to say goodbye to them. The position is awesome, the place is so cute, with everything you need, and the price is great.

Review 8:This place is wonderful, just perfect if you want to relax and enjoy your holiday. The owner is very kind and speaks very well English. The room is very clean, comfortable and newly furnished. There is a small and nice swimming pool where you can relax after the beach. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. For sure it would be worth to stay more than one night!

Review 9:Due to the heatwave the pension experienced numerous blackouts during our stay, but the owners organised a generator to get power working again. Also, FYI you may get charged for the welcome drink offered to you (we were offered water & melon on arrival but they took it off our bill as a nice gesture for our honeymoon).

Review 10:Nice pension with clean & comfortable rooms.Friendly staff. Lovely pool & balcony area. Traditional Turkish breakfast. Private parking area. Good location for exploring nearby coastal towns, beaches, popular stop off for Lycian way hike, walking distance to restaurants & cafes.

Review 11:We were only here for one night and would have liked more. Our host was lovely and welcoming. We were seated amongst his family, his children scampering at his feet - it was very special to be treated as a guest and yet seamlessly included in this genuinely relaxed home environment. His wife made the marmalade and he made the olives - best we had in our travels in Turkey!

Review 12:There was nothing I did not like.

Review 13:Very comfortable stay. Kazeem the owner and his family hospitable, friendly and helpful without being overbearing. He cares about his business, and does his best to accommodate his guests.

Review 14:Kazim and Ayse are the most wonderful people we met on our trip in Turkey. Their delightful pension is truly a home-stay experience, and Ayse's cooking is Michelin quality. Kazim is an excellent and intelligent conversationalist, and very helpful with suggestions and plans for excursions. The room was charming and spotless. Can't wait to return!

Review 15:this is a great hostel, and Patara is lovely, the walk to the beach is about half an hour but it is well worth it (there are minibuses but we preferred to walk), the food is fantastic and the room was nice

Review 16:The owner, Kazim snd his wife Ayse are lovely people and made us very welcome. Room small but adequate for a two night stay. New bathrooms very clean. Breakfast and Ayse's evening meals were really good. Oh, and the lovely pool was an added bonus.

Review 17:Spent 21 nights in Turkey and this was by far our favorite hotel. Friendly and helpful owner. Nice size room with a small balcony that overlooked the pool. Easy walk to center of town. Home cooked dinner was excellent. Fresh vegetables and olives grown on site.

Review 18:Owner Kazim is a very friendly host with lots of helpful information about the surrounding area and villages. His wife Ayse's home-style cooking was among the best food we had on our whole trip in Turkey. The rooms and bathrooms are well-maintained and there is also a nice terrace and pool. It was a great experience to stay here!

Review 19:They should have some shampoo and soap in the bathrooms. The only have liquid hand wash

Review 20:Clean place and accommodating for baby requirements Helpful staff

Review 21:Nothing

Review 22:Everything. Lovely pension. comfortable rooms and nice swimming pool and relaxing room. Food excellent and run by such a warm Turkish family who help you with everything. Nice walks around the village

Review 23:Everything was terrific.

Review 24:Welcoming staff who were very attentive to our needs. Great breakfast. We paid for dinner and it was amazing - eat here if you are staying in patara. Room was spacious and comfortable, the place was updated, and the bathroom was good and clean.

Review 25:Hot water supply is not constant but attentive and caring host Kazim is more than happy to help if any problems. Bedding is basic and I missed a few home comforts (fluffy pillows and a duvet for cool evenings) but for the price, this pension is amazing and you do not pay for this.

Review 26:Wonderful traditional Turkish home cooking from Ayse. Attentive hosts. Excellent Wifi. Spotless rooms with new bathroom suites. This family-run pension is amazing value for money. We loved Patara and were sad to leave our hosts and the pension.

Review 27:nothing

Review 28:Thank you Kazim and Ayse for having a great relaxing time: + Ayse's Food + Kazim was helpful at everytime of the day and organized everything for us!! + very clean rooms + comfortable bed + the atmosphere

Review 29:Very nice atmosphere, fantastic daily dinner (put your order in during morning, they will try to be accommodating if you need a variation to the meal), very cosy diningroom. You get any info about the area that you need, including all travel info. Patara ruins are interesting, beach is good, dunes are great, only the township is poor (never eat at the "Traveller "Restaurant""!).

Review 30:This family run pension provides unparalleled service. Kazim always has time to answer every question and asks what he can do to make your stay more comfortable. His wife makes fabulous Turkish dinners. We had no need to eat elsewhere. The Akay is a gem in Patara/Gelemis.

Review 31:food, free tea, well run professional host, friendly family run place - excellent cooking. Located in a quiet spot but very close to all amenities this village has to offer (which is primarily some nice restaurants, a couple of small shops, an excellent beach, interesting ruins and easy travelling distance to other local towns and attractions).

Review 32:Wifi connection give some trouble..

Review 33:Akay pension is a very nice place in the heart of patara. The owner and his family was so nice with us expecially for planning our trip and helping me with an emergency. He is a great person. And at the restaurant WE tried the best food in all our trip!

Review 34:The rooms are just big enough for the (hard) beds and your bags, and only get cleaned every 3 days or so. Bathrooms are very clean but there are some funky odors that mothballs in the sink do not completely cure.

Review 35:Kazim and Ayse are outgoing and hospitable, full of advice and help with activities. The evening meals are always tasty and copious, sometimes really excellent. Great pool and shaded outdoor day-lounge. A first rate budget base for a stay in Patara.

Review 36:Friendly hospitable hosts. Nothing too much trouble and made you feel at home. Great cooking.

Review 37:adorable staff , great breakfast and food .

Review 38:Everything, but the proprietors were first class, nothing was too much trouble.

Review 39:A true home feel and very welcoming especially stayed up late to greet us and feed us after midnight arrival thank you again xxx

Review 40:Very friendly owner, very good food.

Review 41:The friendliest family owners, and the best food (even the veggie options) we've ever had on holiday.

Review 42:may be the mosquitos ;)

Review 43:Everything. The hospitality of Kazhim and Aisha...amazing!!!!

Review 44:Excellent food; friendly welcoming atmosphere; very helpful advice.

Review 45:Fantastic place to end the day after a long walk. Very helpful and informative owners. Good location to see the ruins

Review 46:Very helpful advice about where to go and how to get there. Good value for the money.

Review 47:Friendly, helpful staff. The meals were outstanding.

Review 48:owner Kazim and his family were excellent hosts. Traditional Turkish food for dinner was superb. great pool and chll out area

Review 49:brilliant hosts - very welcoming and very helpful. Superb food. Lovely pool. Such a relaxing place to stay.

Review 50:... with very nice personal.

Review 51:Excellent pension with swimming pool and familiar restaurant!

Review 52:kassim is a very kind host the dinner is superlative

Review 53:Kasim and family make all their guests feel very welcome. They go above and beyond in providing services to their guests. For example if time allows they will drive guests to the beach or into town. We were very happy with our stay at Akay.

Review 54:Very welcoming and friendly and the food was very nice. Good location for the beach and Patara ruins although I was glad I had a car as it'd be a bit of a walk.

Review 55:Only having to leave. I could live there much of the year and be quite happy.

Review 56:Kazim and Ayse, Mom and Dad, their staff...you just couldn't ask for nicer, more helpful people! And they are the most excellent cooks and hosts, best food I ever get in Turkey comes from Ayse's kitchen. They just completely redone all their bathrooms as well as adding a gorgeous swimming pool, outdoor kitchen and lounge area out back! Patara makes such a wonderful place to base in Turkey for enjoying the beach AND for exploring the remains of the ancient Lycian civilization. I can't recommend Akay highly enough, and Patara too!

Review 57:- Bathroom needs care. The wooden door has mold growing all over it, shower is not separated with a divider, so it wets the bathroom- The vent in the bathroom was extremely dirty and needs cleaning, and replacing - No heating in the common area, not ideal to lounge during winter nights - Wifi only works in the common area - Since this is not a hotel, it doesn't include room service, though they replaced towels when requested

Review 58:- Location, close to the main square and 2-3 km from the ruins and the beach- Breakfast is decent (though not a buffet) Fruits, Cheese, spreads and Hot egg preparations served (Omelet, French Toast) - Room size is decent and clean for the most part - Kazim was very helpful, both with information and a few side extras. Gave us a ride to the beach, and also to the main highway when the local bus service discontinued for the season. Also, let us use (for a reasonable amount) the hotel's washer for doing our laundry.

Review 59:We were there 4 nights and the toilet paper bin was not emptied during our stay.

Review 60:Kazim was very helpful planning our days activities and the food is excellent. The rooms are basic but clean.

Review 61:Incredibly well run! Delicious food and they catered for my gluten free diet! We wish we had stayed there our entire time in turkey instead of only 4 nights!

Review 62:When the owner( expecting 2d child momentarily) is stressed, some thingsslip. Small shower leaked all night--shower used the whole bathroom. Wi-Fi works in the living dining area, not peripheral rooms. The "cashonly" policy is neither announced at check in, nor posted, nor ( asother hotels) on the reservation. None of the above slippages werefatal, but this is becoming more of a bunk than a hotel. This may bepersonal, but I could do with far less salt in the prepared meals.

Review 63:This is a small, family business with the virtues and vices that go withit. Fine location--quieter than those in town, moderate walk to theexcellent beach and finest ruins in the area . Thus better situated thanmuch fancier hotels on the hill, the only other quiet locals. Smallbalcony very nice, and necessary mosquito net provided. Helpfuldirections and loan of books.

Review 64:We had a wonderful time in Patara while we were staying at Akay pension. It's a nice, cosy and clean pension, not for those who are lookingfor luxury , but for those who want to feel the nature and the Turkishculture . Kazim and his family are friendly and warm. Rooms are cleanand simple (no expensive facilities but very comfortable) - smallimprovements in the bathroom are need it but Kazim told us that this arecoming next year. The food is absolutely delicious . We recommend all ofyou to take dinner here. We definitely recommend this pension .

Review 65:Having to leave. Best food in Turkey, hands down, over three weeks and many cities. Also nicest and most helpful people, and that's saying something in a country like Turkey where everyone is so nice.

Review 66:Kazim and his wife are so wonderful! Friendly, helpful, kind...I don't have enough superlative words to describe them. And the dinners there are amazing! They could not help us enough, both with our stay and with the things we wanted to do then and onward. I would so gladly have them in my family!

Review 67:Very friendly place, Ayse and Kazim were extremely helpful, how to get places, buses, times etc. Ayse's home cooked meals were delicious

Review 68:all goo great advice

Review 69:Excellent staff. The bathrooms are spotless. Kazim, the owner, is very helpful and friendly, his wife prepares mouth-watering food for dinner.

Review 70:Kazim, and his family, were friendly without overdoing it. The room was fine, the food good and the value for money was excellent

Review 71:Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice home made dinner. Beautiful area. Calm

Review 72:Friendly and very helpful hosts, lovely food and close to the dunes and ruins of Patara...a place to step back in time and unwind.
