Reviews for Historic Melrose Hotel
Review 1:The walls are thin, just be warned
Review 2:Excellent historic place to stay, gives you a feel of traveling 100 years ago. Just remember it is a shared bathroom down the hall.
Review 3:Conveniently located in downtown Grand Junction, the building has lots of character. I chose it for the cheap price, but ended up really enjoying my one-night stay. Some might consider the room "shabby," but I prefer "vintage": it was clean, comfortable, and far more charming than the "cookie-cutter" aesthetic of most hotels. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very comfortable and safe in the common areas, which is not always the case in hostelling situations. Staff were kind and accommodating and remembered me by name when I came through town again (without an online reservation). Also, there's an adorable hotel cat named Little Bit who will chill on the couch with you while you read.
Review 4:Evaporative cooler wasn't very effective at cooling, and blinds weren't working well in first room we were assigned; second room's ceiling light wasn't working. Manager indicates that hotel-wide air conditioning will be installed later this year. This is a historic property (in a very nice location, by the way), so it's understandable that it would be difficult to maintain.
Review 5:On-duty manager was very understanding, straightforward when we found assigned room(s) unacceptable. He refunded our money, offered to help us find a room "in a better hotel", and let us use the hotel's wifi to arrange a booking further down the road.
Review 6:Would have been nice to have the bathroom sink in the bathroom.
Review 7:Location near the Two Rivers Convention Center was great. Lower cost of this hotel, compared to fancier ones nearby was excellent.
Review 8:Reception closed most of the time. We needed to phone to get someone to let us in -- then you get a code to open front door.
Review 9:Close to Amtrak station and centre of town.
Review 10:I loved the antique furniture, trim, and location of the hotel.
Review 11:No comlaints
Review 12:Great historic hotel centrally located one block from main street.
Review 13:the air condition which could not be controlled by ourselves.
Review 14:the location of the hotel and the nice people.
Review 15:Very close to Amtrak train station, Main St. and Enterprise car rental, so it was very convenient for us.
Review 16:Noise from bar down the street, the hotel is more of a one-star; very old style hotel with period furnishings, very warm (no air conditioning on) but did give us a fan that did help.
Review 17:Nice people, good downtown location.
Review 18:I had a corner room on the street and sound proofing is limited. Youcould hear young people gathered outside talking until late at night.Booking.com did not get the reservation correct - or the site is so unfriendly one cannot be sure of what they confirmed -- my case it was listed as a SHARED ROOM -- but the hotel staff straightened out the problem.
Review 19:It is very secure -- no front desk, just a key code to get intothe building.Definitely Historic.
Review 20:Hotel reeked of pot. 80 year old maid spilled hot coffee all over me.Lots of noise in parking lot at all hours of the night.
Review 21:It was old and cool. The suit of armor in the hall was neat.
Review 22:Within walking distance of renovated downtown Main Ave entertainment. Homey comfortable antique furniture. Living room on first floor. Funky old style.
Review 23:Cold. Beds: need more blankets
Review 24:Love the homey feel staff is func
Review 25:Parking, community TV, community bathroom
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:Very old (obviously) and I mean old.
Review 28:Friendliness of the staff and proximity to the downtown nightlife. Eclectic which I like.
