Reviews for Globetrotter Lodge

Review 1:The pillows were flatsie watsie! That's the ONLY thing I didn't like! ;-D

Review 2:The extra touches--for ex. at breakfast our room # was attached to a stand & included the state where we were visiting from. Traditional European breakfast! Friendly staff! Very Very clean!!!

Review 3:The young lady on the front desk was a little cold, checking us in and showing us to our room with barely a word or a smile.

Review 4:The Globtrotter Lodge is an original 1950s Route 66 motel that has been refurbished to a high standard. Easy access from the street and easy parking right outside the room. The room was very cosy and comfortable. Free Wi-Fi with an excellent signal. The selection at breakfast wasn't great but the quality was superb, in stark contrast to the usual selection of processed and packaged food offered at most US motels. The owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Large Safeway supermarket just two blocks away.

Review 5:The layout of bathroom and wash area are not convenient. Though it's not a big deal.

Review 6:The owner is very friendly and the room is clean. The decorations of room are wonderful. Good breakfast.

Review 7:We drove from Georgia to Las Vegas to get married. We wanted to stay in iconic motels on Route 66. The Globetrotter Lodge was a very nice and clean motel. What impressed us the most was reserved tables for breakfast. Each room had their own table. Also each table had a picture of a car tag from the state that they were from. This made it easier to start a conservation with total strangers.

Review 8:The room was decorated in a Route 66 funky blend of styles that gave a retro/rural vibe. I liked the heat lamp in the shower area added comfort and the selection of books, many in German, that were on the shelf provide non-electronic diversion.

Review 9:Despite being a classic motel, our room was clean and fresh, unlike any other motel room I have stayed in. The Austrian-American character made it that much more quaint. Excellent for a stopover. Proper Continental breakfast with a flag on your table denoting where you are from, a lovely touch. Easily the best place to stay for miles around.

Review 10:Family maintained. VERY friendly, quality service. Very good breakfast. Near many Nat'l Park attractions. Petrified Forest, Painted Dessert, Indian reservations. Local courthouse museum. Large rooms, great bed comfort.

Review 11:The owners were friendly and great hosts. We liked the recognition at breakfast, a small thing like simply placing a card with our home state on a table reserved for us. Lived up to expectations for lodging on Route 66.

Review 12:The motel is located across the street from the railroad tracks and at times, can be noisy. The facility is old and needs maintenance; holes in the sidewalks and parking area and the motel is not in a good neighborhood - lots of closed buildings and trash.

Review 13:It was clean and the staff are trying to upgrade and maintain a very old facility.

Review 14:Hard to rate any Motel on Rt. 66 anything less than excellent. Anyone that remains open against all odds gets a big "thumbs up"! Great room that was clean and a more than adequate breakfast for $85.....take that interstate highway system! LOL

Review 15:Shower room and toilet were small, although shower was very efficient. Noise from trains throughout the night.

Review 16:Large, newly renovated room, very clean with fridge. Breakfast had good choices and fresh decaf coffee was made for us.

Review 17:Attention to detail was overwhelming. They had breakfast and on the tables they had little flags with the state I was from and countries people were from. Took us to our room personally and the room was excellent and beautifully decorated. Really impressed with whole experience. Definitely stay again if ever in the area.

Review 18:Loud air conditioning units.

Review 19:Exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms in an old Route 66 motel. Great location with supermarket and a few restaurants in walking distance. Perfect for visiting the petrified forest and painted desert. A basic but decent breakfast.

Review 20:No problems at all. My husband and I both had a cold, so we weren't very sociable at breakfast where we probably could have gotten to know the owner a bit better.

Review 21:The owners pay a great deal of attention to detail. Our State flag was on our breakfast table. The owners obviously take pride in their operation. It is a very old-fashioned motor hotel, but very clean and a good value.

Review 22:Pool (outdoor) looked nice - but too cold to use it in October.

Review 23:Character. Route 66. Friendly staff. Like many of these historic Route 66 motels it is close to the railway line (not as close as those on the south side of the road though) but that didn't disturb our sleep.

Review 24:Didn't like preassigned seating for breakfast that they were insistent on. Tables were too small for two couples who don't know each other. We drank the oj and went to McDonald's.

Review 25:Nice personal touches. Great decorating, nice bedding and provided real glasses, cups and silverware. Quiet.

Review 26:Overpriced for a motel.

Review 27:I liked the friendly owners. I was able to have a chat in German with the owner at breakfast, which I wasn't expecting in the US! The room was nicely appointed, recently decorated.

Review 28:Motel is conveiently located, staff were friendly and helpful. They have done amazing things with upkeeping an oldstyle motel. My only suggestions would be better lighting for reading and comfortable chairs for relaxing.

Review 29:Fantastic place. Location on old Route 66. Rooms immaculate and stylish. Breakfast excellent. Friendly family owned place. You must also go to the Italian restaurant in Holbrook !

Review 30:ady at front desk when asked about internet rudely told me that all info was on info sheet in room. In actuality the internet was not working. And then the office was closed for the night.

Review 31:gentlemen servicing breakfast was very nice and made sure you enjoyed your breakfast. the town is very 1950's.

Review 32:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 33:Friendly staff. Nice little touches such as being shown to our room and all the breakfast tables had the flag of where the guests were from on them. Beautiful, comfortable room with gorgeous deep blue floral porcelin sink.

Review 34:Convenient off highway. The room was a large comfortable room with nice homey touches such as the rustic wood furniture & the curtains made from colorful Mexican blankets. Preserved older tile in the bathroom. The pool area was great too!

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Very nice owners, great atmosphere, nice themed clean rooms. Nice little breakfast of cereal, fruit, bagels, toast, juice and coffee. Real dishes and silverware and your own pot of coffee. A really cute motel. Ask to meet Sam if you r a dog lover!

Review 37:The bed was too short (I'm 6'1") and the air conditioner too loud. The carpet smelled.

Review 38:Very, very convenient to our destination, Petrified Forest.

Review 39:I felt bad that more people were not staying there.

Review 40:A work in progress but the Motel and people are GREAT!!!!! Only about 1/3 of the rooms are re-done but the ones we stayed in were perfect! Real silverware and home-made jam for breakfast and a dog named Sam. Great!!

Review 41:Beds were a little too soft but otherwise all was great.

Review 42:The owners are lovely, friendly and eager to make one's stay comfortable. The breakfast was good. The rooms are remodeled, pleasant, well appointed and great for one or two nights.

Review 43:Our stay was fantastic! Our rooms were spotless and so full of character. Stepping back in time to a "route 66" motel that has been lovingly updated and decorated. The owners were so personable and made our stay perfect! The breakfast was excellent, they even had little maps of our home state to let us know where to sit, they were so cute! There is great pride in ownership here.

Review 44:It was decorated very nicely. Breakfast was Continental but very good. It was convenient to Interstate and restaurants. The owner was very pleasant. Nice pool and lounge area.

Review 45:No complaints.

Review 46:The room was clean and in good repair. Even though it's on the main drag, it was relatively quiet. Breakfast was at tables with service for four and the utensils were steel flatware and ceramic dishes. Great coffee and the opportunity for conversation with the owner and other guests.

Review 47:Hotel caters to European. Not recommended for anyone who uses medication that requires refrigeration no ice available at hotel. Area around hotel is sketchy.

Review 48:Clean

Review 49:Very charming motel, clean, comfortable, well-located; wonderfully friendly and attentive staff; great breakfast. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

Review 50:absolutely nothing!

Review 51:Friendly owners, always willing to help Bright, cosy and very clean rooms, decorated with much love and phantsy. Excellent breakfast.

Review 52:Breakfast was delightful with tables identified by country or state. Room was very clean. Had great meal at Romo's which was near by. Owners on site and very hospitable. Location great.

Review 53:Great free Wi-Fi and excellent breakfast. The staff tries to make everybody feel will come individually with little flags of which state you come from on the breakfast table. If you you take a road ttrip this is a great place to stay at.

Review 54:Motel room was spacious, clean, modern, and very comfortable. In the recent renovations, the owners had really captured the flavor of the Southwest. The rooms were furnished with real glasses, real coffee cups (no cheap paper or plastic here). Attention to detail here far outranks that of motels costing twice as much. During a 16 day road trip with a different motel each night, this was by far the best value and experience of them all.

Review 56:All good

Review 57:We are travelling along route 66 and this lodge is directly on its path. All facilities clean and tidy, bed was very comfortable. At breakfast Sat by a Japanese couple who were very pleasant as the lodge allocates your seating denoted by your room number and place of origin. A good overnight stay.

Review 58:I don't think there is anything that I didn't like. The breakfast was simple. Bagel and muffins were offered, along with other bread items and coffee and breakfast drinks. It was self-serve. My husband and I decided to go get a fast food breakfast instead.

Review 59:My husband and I loved the absolutely huge shower (which was immaculate), the beautifully restored historic room, very comfortable bed, and great all-around service! The lady at the front desk even escorted us to our room once we arrived!

Review 60:Swimming pool not ready yet!

Review 61:Comfy bed & pillows; super clean; fun decor; excellent shower pressure; coffee & tea in room; wonderful, delicious European-style breakfast & Peter a friendly host. Also, small but lovely outdoor relax area w/pool.

Review 62:Very convenient, comfortable and extremely friendly Route 66 motel with the facilities you need. Parking right outside your room, restaurants a short stroll away and seconds from the main routes.

Review 63:Very limited restaurants for evening meals close by.

Review 64:The motel is an old building but the proprietors have done a very nice job of renovating. Rooms are comfortable clean and easily accessible from your car.

Review 65:The rooms are individually decorated, very comfortable and quiet. The ambience of the area is very much "Route 66" and this place has some of that, but with modern comforts. Also very much liked the European-style breakfast on real plates.

Review 66:Holbrook is a railway town and doesn't have much to offer besides proximity to National Park and Route 66 memorabilia. Had a hard time finding a decent restaurant for dinner.

Review 67:The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, the room and the 1950's atmosphere of the hotel and environs.

Review 68:Nothing negative to report. Family owned and operated.

Review 69:No phone or WiFi eliminates distractions. Fresh home-made pastries and jams at breakfast served on real plates and silverware. Excellent!

Review 70:This motel did not feel as secure as I would have liked. The room door and lock felt a bit flimsy and it opens directly onto the parking lot.

Review 71:Very clean and a bit funky.

Review 72:Close to train, but did not "toot" at night.

Review 73:Very clean. Nice little touches, reminded me of a smaller version of La Posada. Shower was great, separate sink area.

Review 74:You can hear a train pass by at night.

Review 75:Probably the best option when visiting Petrified Forst National park (or doing a Route 66 roadtrip). Room was perfect, the staff had already pre-heated the room before we arrived. Very clean, esp. compared to regular motels.

Review 76:We could not figure out why there were only 2 other cars in the lot when the booking Internet said they were full for the night. We blew a fuse when we used the hair dryer and the portable heater at the same time. The Refrig had an intermittent buzzing sound that was annoying. The beds are too short for a 6 ft. 5 in person.

Review 77:Very clean for the age of the motel and the staff was very helpful when we needed assistance.

Review 78:Bathroom a little cramped and could use a slightly roughened surface on shower floor to avoid potential slips.

Review 79:Clean, comfortable, non cookie-cutter room. One of the better continental breakfasts. Like a little bit of Europe smack in the middle of an iconic American locale.

Review 80:If you want a real life experience traveling on Route 66 here you go! Arrived late and called ahead, they had room left unlocked and had heat on,so nice to have that ! The room felt so much like home, color sheets where which very comfortable , color towels, glass glasses and cups! They asked when we wanted breakfast ,had a nice assortment! We would stay here again! If you want a true Route 66 experience stay here ,we sure enjoyed our stay,a nice change from the big hotel chains! Very nice family run motel !

Review 81:The staff were very friendly and truly accommodating to every need. Location was perfect for Route 66 and eateries were close by. The room was immaculate and the bed quite comfortable. Décor was lovely.

Review 82:The hosts were very kind and helpfull. We had the family room and we loved the extra space. Their were many little extra's in the room. We also liked the breakfast, there was a very special assortiment of bread, that was delicious. We slept well and there was nothing to complain about.

Review 83:Suggest having yogurt and muesli for breakfast in addition to what is offered for those who don't like sugary American cereal

Review 84:Very nice renovation of rooms with interesting features

Review 85:My travelling companion and I found our stay at the Globetrotter Lodge wonderful. The owners went out of their way to make sure our every need was met. Lots of little personal touches that makes you feel welcomed. Cannot wait to go back.

Review 86:Nothing, it was the most enjoyable motel experience we had on our 6,000 mile trip.

Review 87:The staff The special little touches in the room. The way the owners made the room feel like we were staying in a friends house rather than a motel.

Review 88:Can't think of a thing, except perhaps fewer trains.

Review 89:We liked that the owners had taken an older 50's style motel andturned it into a unique, European-flavored stopover. It could beutilized as a base for exploration of nearby attractions or as simply ashort-stay break from routine.

Review 90:At first glance the Globetrotter Lodge looked a bit worn around the edges, but the rooms were recently remodeled and are spotlessly clean, comfortable, and charming. The included breakfast was delicious. The Globetrotter is a delight!

Review 91:Choice of cereals was too limited. Suggestion: Old fashioned oats (which can easily be cooked in a microwave) along with toppings of raisins and brown sugar.

Review 92:Room was very clean and cleverly decorated with a Route 66 theme. Bed was super comfortable, with quality sheets. Grounds were well maintained and appealing. Breakfast was adequate.

Review 93:No complaints. Would have been happy to stay longer than the one night we had booked.

Review 94:This is a classic Route 66 motel with real character, as lovingly restored as the cars parked near the office. Kudos to the owners! The price was so reasonable that we weren't sure what we'd find, but it was cleaner and more comfortable than several other pricier places where we stayed during our 12-day visit to Arizona and Utah. The breakfast was also better.

Review 95:All was perfect.

Review 96:We were delighted by the warm welcome, and the helpfulness of the owners. At the breakfasttable you could talk to travellers from everywhere, nicely arranged by the owner Peter, who was ready to give you ideas how you could visit rarely seen places. All in all it was a quiet relaxed place on Route 66, in the worth visiting Holbrook. We will definitely return! Uschi from Germany and Claude from France

Review 97:Synthetic sheets, ugh! Also, having to pay an extra $15 for a 10 year old who was using one of the 2 beds in the room (no extra bed or cot needed) was a bit much. I figure it was for breakfast, but that made for an expensive bowl of cereal!

Review 98:Friendly, cheerful, rooms decently sized.

Review 99:Not a thing.

Review 100:The ambiance of the Globetrotter Lodge was totally unexpected. The owner remodeled each room with little personal touches that are lacking in most U.S. motels. Their European breakfast venue was cozy, tasty and overseen by the manager, who was perhaps the friendliest owner I have ever met. A real delightful experience. We stayed two nights and would have stayed more had we more time.

Review 101:check out was a little earlier than usual but we didn't really mind that too much.

Review 102:We loved that it had the perfect amount of Route 66 kitchyness. But, it's very clean and quality as well. Wonderful place to stay and we highly recommend it!

Review 103:This Motel is Run by an Austrian couple who have created beautiful Decorated and VERY clean Rooms ( which is Not too often the Case in the USA ) Good breakfast Very nice Pool area

Review 104:Nothing.

Review 105:The motel was lovely. Our room was beautifully furnished and the owners were really welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic, everything we could want.

Review 106:Privately owned & operated & they see that you feel very welcomed. The property & accommodation has lots of character & is very comfortable & relaxing. A happy place to stay.

Review 107:The building is old and shows it. Low ceilings, thin walls, cracked pavement. But that is part of the experience for this 1950s era motel on the old Route 66.

Review 108:Excellent owners/staff. Austrians with a European sense of cleanliness, order, and style. They have turned a dive into a marvel of nostalgia. You get the old Route 66 motor lodge experience but without the sleazy dilapidation that mars most of the competition. Best breakfast I have ever had in a motel. Better food and coffee that you normally get at a nice hotel for twice the price. The rooms are beautifully maintained and furnished, colorful paint, tasteful art on the walls, historic knick-knacks, comfortable beds, quality sinks and faucets... a strange, delightful juxtaposition of historically authentic postwar motor lodge with a European touch of class.

Review 109:Room deodorizer scent way too strong Breakfast started at 7 and I had to leave by 6 am If fan wasn't on for air conditioning than train noise would wake you up throughout the night

Review 110:convenient for my destination, good price

Review 111:The mattress was getting a little old. Holbrook seems to have two sides: one with the older motels and the other with the new chain hotels & restaurants. Unfortunately the older section isn't as scenic as it probably once was.

Review 112:The Globetrotter Lodge is fabulous! It is a classic mid-century motel, revitalized. The owners are delightful people from Austria. Our room was spotless. The décor was a mix of music, SW, route 66 and other eclectic themes, with simple rustic furniture. There were a all sorts of homey touches: floral sheets; colored towels; ceramic mugs and glass glasses (no plastic!). At breakfast the tables were set with real china & silverware, cloth placemats and place cards with each guest's room number and home state or country. Breakfast was homemade breads & bagels, fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs. The motel isn't fancy, but it was a welcome break from chain hotels and a real bargain.

Review 113:The only thing I didn't like were the towels. They smelled like they had been wet for a long time then dried, so they had a dirty wet dog smell. I like towels fresh and clean! But other than that, this lodge was perfect!

Review 114:Everything was so cozy and the staff were very welcoming to their lodge. We will return for sure!

Review 115:Charming, nicely restored motel on rte 66 in Holbrook. Family owned. Just 10 rooms. Price is very reasonable and includes breakfast. Right near Winslow, painted desert, petrified forest. If you want the taste of old 66, stay here.

Review 116:didn't honor price I booked online w/ booking.com charged an extra $15 per child ages 8 & 12

Review 117:good location nice owners good breakfast option(s)

Review 118:Wonderful slice of Americana, predictably enough owned and operated by a European couple who value that Americana. Spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms with lots of nice little touches to make your stay just a little more comfortable. Excellent European B&B style breakfast. Conveniently located just off Highway 66 on the road to Petrified Forrest NP. The best place we stayed at in our trip across the Southwest, and one of the cheapest as well.

Review 119:It was a little difficult to understand ladies when I called, but all was well after we got there!

Review 120:Most everything, especially the real china instead of plastic junk. Very clean & satisfying!

Review 121:Minor flaw, in my opinion, the Wi-Fi service was a bit slow, still usable though

Review 122:Great location Clean, remodeled and well appointed rooms with comfortable beds Really nice pool and pool area, with lots of lounging chairs, a hammock and even a table with chairs to enjoy a glass of wine poolside. Oh, and the pool area is open day or night so anytime is a good time for a refreshing swim. We absolutely loved the European style breakfast: wide selection of fresh breads and bagels, jams, cereals (hot and cold), juice, coffee, fruit and even boiled eggs. One of the owners welcomed us to our table and engaged in conversation and soon everyone in the room joined in. Very pleasant friendly atmosphere.
