Reviews for The Houseboat Hotel- LSH Vacations

Review 1:When I got there they had no record of my booking we stood around forlong time with our bags. Room was amazing but in state of worn out lol -amazing adventure for the little one though.

Review 2:Location and price were very good. View was amazing!!!!

Review 3:Just not "clean" broken tub, no cold water and a bug infestation in the bedroom that was disgusting! Kids couldn't sleep in it ... very old and way overpriced at 150.00 / night

Review 4:location and the idea of a houseboat.. it was very "keysey" and quaint the water view was beautiful The manager was sympathetic but I have called the owner twice and still waiting for a call back

Review 5:Shower head is at your shoulders. A/C does not cool. Bed sits on milk crates. Stay away from this place. The Marriot Key Largo Resort across the street has rooms for same price. Go there. We did.

Review 6:The water view is nice. But has no view from room. Have to walk around outside to see water.

Review 7:From no staff at the office, the roaches in the room, unsafe construction, the old food in the room, the smell, and finding out they didn't even have my reservation I'll never return to the House boat and honestly question finding my next place on booking.com. The best part of my stay was leaving and the breakfast place in front of the place. For $150 + a night ( your best value) I expected a little more. BTW my girlfriend twisted her ankle on the ieven steep stairway ... Thank you!!

Review 8:This place is falling apart and will require a full overhaul before even considering this place in the future. We had the top floor of a house boat, listing awkwardly to one side. The A/C unit in one room was so loud we couldn't run it. The bathroom only had hot running water. Everything in the place has been patched...poorly at best. The stink and humidity was really bad. Save your money and don't't stay here. Booking.com should remove this from their reservation list.

Review 9:location

Review 10:Houses barely floating, stuck in mud, and listing (leaning). Dated and in disrepair. AC did not work and staff new before booking me to the room. In short, this place needs a lot of money put back in it and booking.com should not represent it until needed repairs are done. Worst place I've ever stayed and I am not very picky.

Review 11:Location and staff was friendly.

Review 12:The houseboats were literally falling apart. There were MANY soft spots on the floor where we were told to watch our step. It smelled; no sink in bathroom; had lots of boarded up windows etc. Very bad.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Obviously for what you pay, it is expected that things aren't going to be perfect, but not one thing was as advertised. There was no deck, the entire area smelled of mold, the key didn't work in the door so it wouldn't lock, the "staff" consisted of two men who lived there and were never available, the entire room was slanted, it was unkempt, there was no wifi, the "kitchen" consisted of a fridge and microwave that were unsanitary, and the air conditioning did not work.

Review 15:There was a private beach like area and it was close to a lot of things.

Review 16:The sheets were dirty when we checked in. The maid was told to change them and she did. The pillows had stains on them. There was no remote for the tv so the staff had to bring us one. The air conditioner did not work. The cupboard doors in the bathroom did not shut. We were given 2 towels and no washclothes or hand towels.

Review 17:Being on the water

Review 18:Smelled like sewage, very poor condition. Would like a refund from Booking.com for what they charged vs website. Don't bother staying here.

Review 19:Leaving!

Review 20:Smelly, boat list and floor slanted, water around boat filthy, needs major cleaning and upgrade, no take that back, it really should be condemned. Bookings.com should take this dump off ther list.

Review 21:this place is beyond description,we had electrical outlets with all wires exposed, our tile floor in bathroom was falling into step down tub,the cleaning lady gave us our key, the office has no floors bathroom door would not shut. will never book thru booking.com again to give this place 2 stars is criminal I have pictures

Review 22:nothing

Review 23:Really don't know where to begin. Felt like the walls were about to fall in, the bed was uncomfortable, the guy I tried to talk to on the phone was unreliable and seemed totally uninterested in anything. It was a terrible experience all around.

Review 24:I liked that we could find a vacant room about 20 minutes away to switch to after we saw this place.

Review 25:A microwave would have been useful.

Review 26:We had our own private beach, a rarity in key largo. Our king size bed overlooked the water - absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. Our bedroom also had a trundle bed! Sheets, comforters, etc were all pristine, and smelled great. Restaurant just across parking lot, and located just off route 1.

Review 27:There were roach droppings in the cabinets and also in the dish washer along with dirty dishes. The proprietor was very nice and quickly offered a refund.

Review 28:the location was nice management was nice they are obviously doing some work trying to update the place

Review 29:- when I came back in the evening on day #2 I had at least 18 dead/half-dead cockroaches in my shower.. :O .. and some around the room.. had to ged rid of them on my own in order to take a shower.. -my neighbor was smoking and watching TV in the middle of the night - so I had a wonderful soundtrack & smell all the time :/ -never met the owner

Review 30:-very nice little "beach" - good to watch sunrise :) -room was cute.. -perfect W-Lan connection - Elsa the cleaning Lady was lovely

Review 31:The location was the best part.

Review 32:Not really quite at night, people were partying kinda late.

Review 33:The view

Review 34:The a/c unit was not working properly which made sleeping uncomfortable.

Review 35:The location.

Review 36:Small private sandy beach behind the houseboat

Review 37:its very old and very run down and outside of the neighbor's puppy, about everything else was pretty run down

Review 38:the neighbor had a very cute puppy

Review 39:There was an unpleasant odor in the kitchen, no hand towels, no coffee.

Review 40:Location, price.

Review 41:AC didn't work, condition of the houseboat in disrepair.

Review 42:Location on water, manatees nearby

Review 43:No wi fi, tv didn't work. Overpriced for value.

Review 44:Disgusting, old, breaking, looks rotten, smells, dirty, idk what else to say

Review 45:Nothing, should have slept in my car

Review 46:The online pictures of the houseboat hotel are extremely misleading. It's not nearly as nice as the pictures make it seem

Review 47:The humidity inside the room

Review 48:just like beeing camping

Review 49:The terminets, the first room was a laege closet, second room has the terminets, the third was a silgle house boat which is what we expected but is was not clean good in galley.

Review 50:location good George was nice

Review 51:This is more of a place for a fisherman off a boat who really doesn't look for anything but a bed! .

Review 52:It did look like the picture. The guy twho was going too check us in was very nice and polite. We didn't stay there!

Review 53:I will suggest no one ever stay there. Place is dirty, nasty, gave me a wrong room, then AC breaks no Ac. Horrible experience.

Review 54:Did not like anything about this hotel.

Review 55:The accomodations were a bit rough. The stove should have been cleaned and maintained better. The carpeting needed to be replaced as some tacks were coming thorugh. However, it was a good deal for the price and I would go there again.

Review 56:The location of the Houseboat Hotel was phenomenal. Central to everything we wanted to do, and far enough off the main road to be tranquil. The scenery (sunrise and moon rise) could not be beat. The staff (when we saw them) was always helpful and welcoming. The price of the houseboat could not be beat!!

Review 57:There was a funky smell in room three, by the end if my stay I had to get out of there.. and it was omly one night, yall should check into that cause it was a great place..

Review 58:It was adventurous and the people staying there were friendly.

Review 59:You are greeted by overfilled and stinky trash cans.Owner was not to be seen for two days, the maintenance staff checked me in. Numbers of guests could not check in. Floor was not even and bed frame was held with screws, very hazardous...I had to sleep across the bed otherwise I would have rolled out. I am not happy with booking.com to feature such a bad property on their site. It ruined my week-end in the keys.

Review 60:This place was the pits! I was in room 4. My bathroom window would not close; had to stuff a sheet in it so no one could see me using the shower. the tile in bathroom was raised making it a trip hazard. It was very hard for me to get out of the shower since there was no railing to grab onto. (lawsuit waiting to happen). The fold out bed in closet (which, Thank goodness we didn't need) smelled up the entire room. It had a smell of mold and mildew. If that wasn't enough, the day we checked out, the entire place smelled of raw sewage. I could hear the guy in the next room pass gas while on the toilet. Arriving to the facility there was a sign that listed the rates. We over-paid greatly for the room but we could never contact the manager/owner because he was NEVER there. The sliding door to the room would not lock and would barely close. The TV remote did not work. The Wi-Fi did not work. They only gave us 2 small towels for the 2 of us...no hand towels or wash cloths or extra blanket...just that top sheet that I had to use to stuff in the opened window. I'm used to roughing it but $300 for 2 nights of living hell just doesn't rest easy with me. My sister and her daughter actually took my room (room 6) and let me and my mother take her room since my mom and I didn't want to climb the stairs. Her room (the premium room. HA!) was just as bad. I'm sure you will hear from her too.

Review 61:The view and luckily we never saw one bug..EVER. (I think it was because the weather was kind of cool).

Review 62:There was no one on-site except a caretaker who knew very little. The "George" person is invisible...if he is even in Florida.

Review 63:After reading the horrible reviews on-line, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and comfortable and in good repair..no bugs or worms seen as per previous customer reports. Would stay again! ...and that restaurant, The Hideout, was awesome!!

Review 64:This was by far the dirtiest room ive ever rented. Not only were the accomodations old but extremely dilapidated. I would feel safer showering at the bates motel. My sisters room had windows that wouldn't shut in the shower and a strong odor of sewage that never disapated.

Review 65:The only plus to this location was the hideaway restaurant across the street.

Review 66:Everything was run down, terrible place to stay. My girlfriend ended up having spider bites in several places around her body, and there were probably bed bugs.

Review 67:The view was alright to wake up to in the morning, and I got fifty percent of my money back.

Review 68:we had worms in bed.The toilet. the shower and the microwave were contaminated. The aircondition failed. Please anarrange, that I get at least part of my money back We only stayed there because we were not able to rent something else Peter room 5

Review 69:the view

Review 70:The fact that the property looks NOTHING like the pictures, almost like the pictures were from ten years ago when the place was upkept. And the fact that when we arrived we couldn't find out where our room was and the manager had left with his girlfriend "Bubbles" and was nowhere to be found during our night to am stay. Like I said, thank god for the neighboring restaurant and awesome hospitality with helping us get things situated. Thanks again Gumpy and Ray!

Review 71:Next to a great restaurant called the Hide Away, with especially two helpful individuals named Gumpy and Ray (gotta love the keys), who were of more help about getting into our room than the manager himself.

Review 72:Absolutely awful & we are used to sleeping on old boats & 2ndrate motels. Where to begin? We booked 4 nights and barely made itthrough the 1st night after which we decided to flee. George didn'twant to refund a penny & after much pleading, he 'let us go'for 2 nights pay - well over $200.00! Room #5 (he referred to as"upgrade") had no view, filthy, greasy vents, moldy carpet on"deck" and the room was listing. Shower had broken faucets anddidn't work.. If it did, I would need a shower from the shower! Badmoldy smell.. Tv didn't work & no wi-fi. No "beach"either. Woman downstairs from us was equally unhappy. Last straw wasrat/mouse droppings in the floor in the morning.

Review 73:Had a good breakfast at the Hiddenout restaurant next door but was toobummed about Houseboat Hotel to truly enjoy it.. Also, George's maidis a very sweet woman who does the best she can.

Review 74:No sign of any staff - everything had to be done by phone. The boat badly needs a lot of money spent on it for maintenance. The sink in the bathroom didn't work although the shower was good. The door from the sitting room to the bathroom would not shut due to the frame having warped. The sheets on the bed were truly horrible - a nylon type fabric which slid off throughout the night so we were left sleeping on the bare mattress - not pleasant! The floors list badly and walking around is odd - but that added to the quaintness in a way.The towels were clean but very old and had bleach stains on them. I am British and my husband is Greek - we would put up with all of this for the position of the boat - not sure how Americans would view it though.

Review 75:The position of the boat 'Stress Relief' is incomparable and it was wonderful to sit on the deck eating meals, watching the sun rise and set. The cable tv, though an old fashioned tv, had a good picture and it was great to relax on the couches in the evening to watch a film. The wifi connection was also very good. We had the whole boat to ourselves which was great. The facilities would be described as very basic but for us it didn't matter as we loved the position of being right on the water in a lovely part of Key Largo. The boat has been described as 'quaint' which would be about right.

Review 76:We loved the Houseboat Hotel ! The place is very simple but lovely, centrally located in Key Largo and close to all the activities we wanted to do (snorkeling in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, good seafood restaurants like The Fish House, and even less than an hour drive from the Everglades National Park). George, the owner, was very very friendly and helped us make a good plans for our 3 days stay in Key Largo. You can rent kayaks on site and enjoy some paddling/fishing right on the spot and you can use the BBQ and grill your catch just on your porch with the view of the bay! Right in front of our Houseboat we had a great breakfast twice at the Hideout, which is open for lunch and dinner as well. If you are looking for luxury this might not be the place for you. The Houseboat rooms are basic but clean and we had all we needed. The price is absolutely a bargain and after few researches I think this is one of the best deal you can find in the Keys.

Review 77:Is the worse place ever, I do not recommend to any body, is dirty, unsafe, uncomfortable, needs to be reconstructed or even demolished.

Review 78:Uncomfortable, I am glad I only spent one night. Tight, buggy and falling down.

Review 79:The view was great secluded area.

Review 80:The price through Booking nearly 50% higher than what is advised bythem.

Review 81:The proximity of the John Coral Reef National Park

Review 82:Location was awesome Staff (ROCKY!) was super friendly Room was exceptionally clean WiFi worked perfectly

Review 83:Exterior property a little messy.

Review 84:The it was a houseboat, the quaintness and being on the water.

Review 85:Location was great, as was the view. Price from booking.com was unbeatable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Review 86:Boat was on the water

Review 87:Everything, the place is awful. We will never stay here again.

Review 88:That it was near water

Review 89:Funky!

Review 90:The out of the way location..

Review 91:funky, a little bit run down, very quiet. on the water and money well spent . I would stay there again

Review 92:Entire place was run down, damaged and filthy.

Review 93:The view of the water was amazing.
