Reviews for Grand Hotel Wien

Review 1:It was a bit on the expensive side, but as a special occasion was worth it.

Review 2:Very luxurious hotel. Bed and bath were awesome. Festive Christmas atmosphere in the beautiful foyer, with a big tree and gingerbread house.

Review 3:the room faced out to a courtyard which could've been better maintained. However, the luxury red curtains and nets hid this so didn't cause an issue.

Review 4:Stunning hotel, with exceptionally friendly staff especially concierge and room service staff. Spa was quiet so felt like our personal spa! Fantastic location- walking distance to pretty much everywhere but tram outside

Review 5:This is a really trivial comment in the context of a good stay with great service - the service at breakfast time was slow - fortunately we were not in any hurry

Review 6:This hotel is in a great location to explore Vienna. It is a high quality hotel, the room was excellent especially the bathroom which was one of the best we have experienced in many hotel stays. The staff were very friendly and helpful - when next in Vienna we will stay here.

Review 7:Poor quality of breakfast sadly did not justify the exorbitant price of 34 euros per person.Alcohol prices are ridiculous

Review 8:The Grand is a very comfortable hotel, calm and relaxing.great concierge

Review 9:One of the room keys did not work but not a big problem

Review 10:The staff were very attentive , the furnishings were beautiful and the room service was very quick overall there was nothing to fault it was everything we hoped for

Review 11:The Hotel is Grand so the name suits it very well, the room was comfortable with a big bathroom, we stayed in number 639 which was right near the amazing spa , if you want a bit of class while seeing the beautiful sights of Vienna this is the hotel for you

Review 12:Breakfast at 34 Euros per day is pretty steep

Review 13:Pleasant and helpful staff, great location and comfortable bed. Cleaning staff did a fantastic job everyday and the bathroom was spotless. V2ery elegant decor, ideal for a treat if you want to spoil yourself.

Review 14:The check in process was appalling for a hotel of the standard. After a significant delay our room was below the standard that we expected and was situated exactly where we asked not to be. It took 5 hours to be allocated to the correct room and this ruined our first day.

Review 15:The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was as we expected once we were reallocated.

Review 16:The service at breakfast was very disappointing. It was slow and unresponsive and we ended up leaving. We went for breakfast outside the hotel the next day.

Review 17:Excellent location. Good concierge - he was really helpful.

Review 18:Nothing bad to report.

Review 19:Friendly and very helpful staff. (Perfect English, of course.) Always eager to assist. Beautiful room. Great location. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Room and bathroom always perfectly prepared and clean.

Review 20:had to leave the upstairs bar because of cigar smoking, menu of the two restaurants was limited, breakfast menu excellent

Review 21:the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. cleaninless of the hotel

Review 22:This was my first visit to Vienna and my first impression was the Grand Hotel . I was greeted with care and excellent service . The room was ready and the check in was very efficient . I ask for directions and the staff were so helpful . The security system is excellent . I will be returning to Vienna again to visit the sights that I would like to explor .

Review 23:Quality of in-room dining. The first rissotto we ordered was not cooked well. And the other meal was so salty!!

Review 24:The location was close to the main attractions. Also it is attached to a shopping mall. The only room among other 4 hotels we stayed in Austria had a coffee machine!!

Review 25:Perfect location, walking distance to all attractions within Old City, including State Opera, Stephansplatz, Mozart house, Hofburg and Sisi Museum, famous coffee houses (even to Cafe Central). Very professional and friendly staff. Very nice room.

Review 26:Lost it's charm last six years as rooms has been renovated from the 100 year old everlasting interior, nothing left, to something that is "contemporary" in style and therefore they will have to renovate again soon. Overpriced 30%.

Review 27:Lobby, Grand piano, restaurants (the Italian made food), room and bathroom equipment, and the Grand Shopping-center.

Review 28:too expensive for what it offers. i expected more than this , we were a couple for honeymoon , and i booked a suite , it was not big and small TV , no view from the room, it was an average hotel , i will not stay there again.

Review 29:location

Review 30:One complementary water bottle on arrival only, limited cable channels, a rather small gym Superb restaurant

Review 31:The location is excellent, spotless, classic decor, big rooms, good bathroom amenities

Review 32:The grandeur of the hotel and its location. Add to that a pleasant staff in a magical city and you have a perfect vacation. I wasn't expecting the free breakfast or the welcome plate and wine. Perfection!

Review 33:From the beginning to end of stay I could not fault this hotel. All staff understood their job and carried out their duties in a pleasant manner. Nothing was too much trouble. Concierge had local knowledge at fingertips and came up with answers immediately. Staff in restaurant remembered where I liked to sit and would lay the table even when others were ready.Housekeeping efficient.

Review 34:Were initially given a much smaller room next to the elevator (i.e. let alone being upgraded, we were sort of downgraded) but the room was changed to a regular one after lots of "discussions."

Review 35:Excellent location. Very good housekeeping services. In general, helpful and courteous staff.

Review 36:The lady in charge of the breakfast tables did not smile when we entered, and was quite cold, and when I requested to have a seat full of crumbs cleaned, she totally ignored me, thrice. I finally requested a gentleman in charge, and he looked into it immediately.

Review 37:Absolutely loved our suite, the luxury of the hotel, the fabulous breakfast, the good staff and of course the superb location. It was amazing to have stayed in the hotel and learning that Strauss had his 50th party there! Took back a part of their tradition - the Guglehupf, for my Father's 80th, was truly special!

Review 38:everything was perfect nothing to dislike

Review 39:perfect location! the hotel is amazing and reflects the true spirit of Vienna. the staff, the building, the location.. all was perfect a true luxurious hotel from all aspects highly recommended!

Review 40:The location of this hotel is second to none. The concierge managed to secure two tickets for the final night of the opera season - best seats in the house! Overall a fantastic week.

Review 41:The helpfulness of the staff from our early arrival , through to the management of our late departure, makes this a very special hotel for our family. Our second stay in the Grand hotel, and we received a very welcome upgrade. We hope to return.

Review 42:The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, greeting guests by name. The room was tastefully furnished and a good deal of thought had been given to what one might need.

Review 43:Power cut without notice for a couple of hours, but probably a one off incident.

Review 44:Proximity to tourist attractions, historic buildings. The hotel itself is a great building

Review 45:Breakfast on the expensive side but plenty of nearby cafe alternatives.

Review 46:Traditional luxury with big, comfortable rooms. Central location, easy walking distance to central Vienna attractions. Ample underground parking. Attentive and helpful staff.

Review 47:room was too small... Was on second floor by a garden hence room was full of bugs even in bed. Hardly any walking room. exiting tge elevator to the second floor you immediately get a wiff of pets like the whole floor smells of dogs and carpets have not been shampooed for a long time... For value of the room it was very disappointing even for the name Grand Hotel.

Review 48:Location & staff

Review 49:Coffee at breakfast was a bit watery and we felt breakfast generally was overpriced.

Review 50:Superb quality of everything:Rooms, bathrooms, public areas etc Excellent convenient location. Good service

Review 51:Not baby friendly, staff are bored and used to only serve people at the age of 60+. No sense of customer service or a willingness to help. Won't stay in this hotel again.

Review 52:The hotel location is fantastic and most convenient you can ever get

Review 53:The only problem is the service at breakfast. If you order eggs, be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes.

Review 54:The Hotel staff is always understanding and ready with any of your problem, putting smile on there faces and just doing their job in a very professional way. And the bed is amazing!

Review 55:The cost of breakfast was 46 euros on the terrace outside, which seemed a little expensive!

Review 56:The location was perfect for all areas of interest. The staff were in general very helpful and pleasant. The room was beautiful.

Review 57:Very poor and expensive breakfast for a 5 star hotel. It was not clear that you can order from a menu and this is included in the price. Nice hotel but overpriced for what it offers.

Review 58:Nice Location, Friendly and Helpful Staff, Good rooms, Very Clean

Review 59:air conditioning not working in 3 rooms we tried. Heater placed in the room instead.

Review 60:Although the furniture, the carpets and the curtains etc. look old, the cleanliness of the bed linens and the villeroy&boch bathroom make up for it. Housekeeping checks the room twice a day. Turndown service a nice touch. Moreover, you don't run into them in the corridors of the hotel. They manage to clean everything behind you. Lights in the room very generous. Open the wardrobe and you find a grand hotel's setup; umbrella, ironing board, embroidered bag.. Receptionists very welcoming. Location of the hotel is superb, just around the corner of the Opera.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Luxurious hotel .I changed my room 3 times to get a good view with a fair space to meet the value of money, I paid a little bit extra but in the end, I was satisfied.

Review 63:The lady who play the piano - when other people video her she was smiling when i try to do the same she stop playing and excuse that she drank and forget!!when i left she started again

Review 64:They r always smiling welling to help

Review 65:The location was excellent and the room/facilities of an exceptional standard - and excellent value for money. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Review 66:Nothing to fault, other than i found the bed to be rather softer than most hotels i use and would prefer a firmer mattress, however this is personal taste.

Review 67:Location, friendly staff, good facilities, excellent wifi coverage.

Review 68:Not a bad thing, just a bit awkward having to register for wifi every day Inevitably I guess food, drinks, snacks rather expensive - but as expected!

Review 69:Lots - room comfort, size, facilities, cleanliness; breakfast great (esp Japanese/Austrian); love le ciel restaurant and grand café; concierge particularly helpful (we had a dental emergency and they were helpful securing dentist appointment)

Review 70:One member of the concierge desk was not up to scratch while another (Stefano) was exceedingly helpful and friendly

Review 71:All hotel staff, with one exception, was particularly friendly and helpful

Review 72:The attention to detail was flawless, the room was superb and the staff were extremely helpful, as though nothing would be too much trouble for them to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The champagne breakfast at the weekend as standard was a nice unexpected touch.

Review 73:Pillows very soft, no choice. Mattress doesn't match other 5 star hotels, poor. The air conditioning had a defective thermostat that was turning on/off every 5 secs with subsequent noise. Expensive breakfast not worth the price.

Review 74:The personnel trues hard to help. The sushi restaurant at the top of the building is really good.

Review 75:Price of buffet breakfast at €34 is a bit OTT but there is an a la carte alternative and a continental alternative but this was not immediately obvious as options.

Review 76:Everything you would expect a good hotel to provide was provided at a very high standard. The concierge service was first class and the room extremely comfortable and well appointed.

Review 77:The door men were not exactly up to the standard of other stuffs. They closed door right before our child.

Review 78:Very clean and hotel stuff generally kind. Location excellent as well.

Review 79:We returned to our room one day in the early afternoon to find it had not been cleaned. Just a one off, every other day exceptionally clean

Review 80:Breakfast choice was amazing. Room was great. Love coffee maker. Love location

Review 81:I think any 5 star hotel should supply 2 bottles of water in the room each day. They were there when we arrived and none the other 2 days. We asked at reception on the 2nd day to have 2 sent to the room, to our dismay we were charged €19.80 for same and I think that was exorbitant.

Review 82:The size of the room. The location. The spa and the staff there, the young girl with the blonde hair was so nice and helpful.

Review 83:The real imperial hospitality! Fantastic service, well-trained staff, perfect old-fashioned design of halls, rooms and furniture (Gerstel?). We love it!

Review 84:Late check out of 3 hours for the half of price for the best Suite is maybe not friendly gestion *430 eur per our , after 3 days !?

Review 85:All - except the croud in the Lobby made by people who are not guests of Hotel ?! No place for us !

Review 86:One of staff who is working in Concierge is not helpful and was very rugged. He is not helpful when we asked questions about the city such as where we can go or visit or the nicest places

Review 87:Everything in this hotel is very nice. I have tried and eat at Japanese restaurant in 7th floor and the food was very delicious I like the hotel location

Review 88:Niggles, but a 5 star hotel shouldn't have them. Queuing for a table for breakfast on Saturday morning - albeit for 3 minutes, simply shouldn't happen. Why should I have to sign my Credit card twice on departure, the "deposit" and the rest. Not very customer friendly.

Review 89:Location was excellent. Room superb, with heating one could adjust. The Kavalier bar was excellent, as was the Ciel restaurant and the staff charming and helpful.

Review 90:the reception couldn't find our booking, same problem experienced another hotel's client having check-in at the same time. They checked us in, but found the booking next day. Quite often when you call to get info to the reception desk noone answers the phone. Massage at spa was so so.

Review 91:lobby bar is comfortable n there is a pianist there playing in the evenings. Corridors and rooms are in good condition, there is everything you need.

Review 92:expensive breakfast

Review 93:high class hotel with traditions in one of the best locations of Vienna, beautiful lobby, underground parking with valet service, high speed wi-fi

Review 94:Every member of staff in all departments were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and prepared to spend time to help. Fabulous hotel steeped in history and ideally situated as a base to explore the city. Treat yourself to a meal in Le Ciel restaurant - the superb food, attentive staff and intimate surroundings will make you feel very special.

Review 95:unfortunatily they didnt give us a late check out and the concierge was unhelpful bcuz i asked him to contact the airline to send us a car to pick us up and he confirmed that he called the airlines and on the time of leaving we waisted almost one hour waiting for the ride and at the end he didnt contacted the airline.

Review 96:amazing hotel on the location, clean, facilities.

Review 97:We landed in Vienna on stop over from Barcelona for couple of nights on the way home to Dubai. As soon as we entered The Grand all our disappointment from Barcelona Hotel had left us and we knew immediately that this was going to be a pleasant stay. From check in, to housekeeping to room service to the concierge - very professional team and more importantly a team that communicates, so important in the running of an excellent hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again without quesiton. Central to shopping walking distance and Opera House just round the corner. This hotel ticks alot of boxes.

Review 98:I think a 5 star hotel should provide free water in the room . Better for the hotel to add the charge in the rate rather than having the guest searching for water . This normally a normal practice in many 5 star hotel as a gesture towards their guests .

Review 99:Location

Review 100:Arrived in the morning and was surprised that we was given a room that was in "turn-down" state and also information adressed to other client left in the room. Got confuesed if the bed was used or not...

Review 101:Always outstanding service by the concierge and the porter.

Review 102:Unless one has a massive appetite and can eat a huge breakfast, it is too expensive, and the a la carte menu has a limited choice. The continental breakfast is also expensive for what one gets and not very exciting .

Review 103:This is a luxury hotel in a very convenient situation; ideally situated for walking to the opera, sight seeing or shopping. The staff were very polite, friendly yet professional. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and lacked nothing.

Review 104:The fitness room was a little smaller than anticipated, but reasonably equipped.

Review 105:Very helpful staff, particularly concierge who assisted in getting medical attention and also recommending/arranging sightseeing. Efficiently run, beautifully maintained property with lovely, well-appointed rooms. Good breakfast, location perfect for shopping, shows, sightseeing and restaurants.

Review 106:Thought the bedroom was quite small compared with the advert, the hotel seemed quite deserted and we thought it might have been possible to have a larger room

Review 107:Ambience, decor, bathroom, attentiveness of cleaning staff, staff being friendly throughout the visit

Review 108:My friend got sick in Vienna and he was staying in a junior suite. He had no chance to leave the room. Reception told us that room was sold, hotel was full and we had to move to a bigger suite if we wanted, by paying extra 1000 euro per night. I made the reservation from booking.com and they gave us the same room which they told us that it was already sold! One should be careful with this hotel staff. If they see you that you are in hard situation, they will try to benefit out of that. Plus, the corridors were smelling a strange odor. And mostly they use trainees as the staff and this lowers the quality too much. I understand that they try to minimize the cost, but guys, c'mon, this is not a hostel, a 5 star hotel.

Review 109:The only thing i didn't like was that i wasn't there longer.

Review 110:The staff were excellent. The location was excellent and the hotel itself was beautiful.

Review 111:The hardest bed in the world. I actually think the floor would besofter. Hard to rest which is very important while on vacation.

Review 112:Great staff, friendly, helpful. Rooms are large with every amenity. Itwould be great to have Netflix available in Austria. Very limitedtelevision options...not what you want to be doing in Europe but greatin a down minute

Review 113:The breakfast is overpriced and selection poor. Some of the rooms are small and furniture and carpet is stained. The turn down service skipped our room.

Review 114:The location of the hotel.

Review 115:The hotel hosts many guests which require great security which can be a pain coming and going sometimes.

Review 116:The staff and particularly the concierge was exceptionally helpful and made our stay a pleasure. The concierge recommended a ballet and symphony which were the best we have ever experienced. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. The bed was sumptuous. I would stay here on any trip to Vienna.

Review 117:Great Hotel, nice room and facilities...centrally located.

Review 118:Everything was wonderful

Review 119:Everything was wonderful..

Review 120:Exorbitant charge for water

Review 121:Friendly staff, great location close to the opera and shopping

Review 122:Consierge should be more helpful

Review 123:Breakfast

Review 124:No complaints

Review 125:Best service, facility and lication! Magic experience!

Review 126:There was no bathrobes in the room.

Review 127:Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent .

Review 128:Simply a great hotel, from the moment we arrived all was great.

Review 129:Room

Review 130:Lovely breakfast

Review 131:choise of food for breakfest
