Reviews for Sugar Loaf Lodge
Review 1:It is on the main road; yet I did not hear much noise from my room, which was more toward the back. It was quiet at night.
Review 2:This is excellent value for your money. The room was wonderful and the host is super friendly and helpful. He will point you to attractions around Sedona. Close to everything and there's a great Italian restaurant right across the street.
Review 3:Very old property, stains on bedspread. Thought the price was a little high for an old "motel"
Review 4:Staff was friendly. Room was adequate with microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Jerry checked us in and was very helpful.
Review 5:This hotel was fantastic. It's modest from the outside, but it was incredibly clean and the rooms were a good size. It's also just a few minute drive from the uptown shops and directly across the street from one of the top rated restaurants in the area (wonderful food!) and a Starbucks.
Review 6:No breakfast. I missed the opportunity to test the pool and jacuzzi, given the freezing temperatures at this time of the year.
Review 7:The room is large, very nicely decorated (nice chairs!), cosy and homey. Heater and wifi worked very well. Fridge, microwave and coffee machine available in the room.
Review 8:The bathtub and bathroom sink didn't drain well, but that's about it!
Review 9:Great location, friendly receptionist, pool that we did not get to enjoy because winter, but hot tub that we did enjoy!
Review 10:for me, this place is only decent value. for Sedona, it might be a great value.
Review 11:the beds are extremely comfortable. the location is good in West Sedona as it is only about 5 minutes to Sedona. the hot tub is really nice. having the limited breakfast was nice as well. the place is not new but absolutely nothing is wrong with it; it is clean and nice.
Review 12:This is an older property but it is clean and comfortable. The proprietor is wonderfully friendly and helpful and knows the area well so is a good resource for eating places and activities. Even though it is right in the main highway it was quiet . We had one of the front facing rooms and were right by the office but didn't even hear people going into the office. The breakfast is only minimal but there are excellent restaurants close by, and since the rates are so reasonable it's no loss at all.
Review 13:Na
Review 14:Location, front desk staff, privacy, casual atmosphere, breakfast fruit, ground level. The son inlaw was covering and was a excellent ambassador for Sedona
Review 15:Manager on the phone when we arrived and also when we checked out. Missed breakfast by 15 minutes, oh well.
Review 16:The location and price of this hotel were great. We stayed only a night, but it was quiet and adequate.
Review 17:It was like a Motel in layout and parking was VERY tight. There was a big truck next to us and it made parking difficult. The continental breakfast was very very Spartan. Just some rolls and a coffee pot for the most part. Good news, there is a Starbucks right across the street.
Review 18:The bed was so comfortable and the room was nice and clean. No complaints at all once you get into the room. Not ultra fancy but comfortable and clean in Sedona. We don't live in the room, using it more for a rest stop. For that it was perfect.
Review 19:Everything about the stay was great. The rooms were clean, of adequate size, etc., and the person managing the Lodge, Thor, could not have been more accommodating or a pleasure to speak with.
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:We found this place an absolute Jem, very very friendly front of house, rooms where very clean and comfy , sadona is quite expensive inside the village and the hotels we went to look at offer nothing more than this fabulous budget inn
Review 22:Convenient to stores and shops. Staff was extremely helpful, room clean and pleasant every thing you need and the price was great. Love the atmosphere of a good well kept independent motel.
Review 23:and street noise wasn't noticible
Review 24:older property but well maintained. we were given a front street side larger room as 4 adults.plenty room Street noise was not very noticible and the traffic really decreased after 11 pm. .Bathrooms as dated bit small but such a Great value, not a problem .. Hot tub in back was excellent .Clean rooms, comfy beds, no molds in bathrooms as many hotels have.also a top notch affordable right across road a.free breakfast was served and outstanding service
Review 25:Decent, clean motel that was excellent value for money in Sedona. Well-positioned, being within walking distance to restaurants and a supermarket, and a very short drive to down-town Sedona.
Review 26:the pool was out of action
Review 27:this place is a little older but it was perfect for us, unfortunately the pool was out of order when we were there but the kids were more than happy playing in the spa pool. We had been on the road for a while so it was nice to take advantage of using the BBQ facilities
Review 28:The coffee could be stronger. :)
Review 29:This was my second stay at the Sugar Loaf Lodge. We really like that the Jacuzzi was available to us at any time and we could walk to/from the Old Sedona Bar & Grille. Also, the beds are comfy with clean, soft sheets. The continental breakfast is quick & simple to get you on your way. Jerry is very sweet and happy to answer any questions you may have.
Review 30:Friends in the second room commented the shower ran hot and cold, maybe when adjacent rooms were using water at the same time.
Review 31:Easy to contact and helpful, informative greeting on arrival. Room was clean and everything worked fine.
Review 32:We did not like that we had to leave, & The AC was very loud.
Review 33:This is an old place, but has been fully up-dated. Our room had 2 very comfortable queen beds, microwave, small fridge & freezer. Naturally, the views were superb, after all, it is in Sedona AZ. Jerry, the manager, clerk??? was super nice & helpful & pointed us towards a great Mexican restaurant which was fantastic by the way, just a few steps away from the room. Win, Win.. Thank You Jerry, will stay again..
Review 34:Clean and quiet, despite being on a busy road. Friendly staff. Refrigerator with a small freezer was a plus. Pleasantly surprised to also have a microwave, which I don't think was listed in the room description online.
Review 35:the only thing that was not up to par were the old beds; they were way too soft. Also, the wifi was spotty at best and quite slow.
Review 36:staff very friendly, clean place, centrally located but not too busy.
Review 37:Beds were al little soft.
Review 38:The room was very spacious and clean. The location was good and the owner was very nice. Even included a continental breakfast we were not expecting. It was very quiet and comfortable.
Review 39:As a solo female traveller, I was somewhat concerned that I was given a room with no traditional door. My room faced the main street, and the lodge only has 1 level. The wall facing the street, at street level, was all glass. The door was actually a sliding glass door with a small latch, like you'd have in a back yard. It felt a little unsafe.
Review 40:The staff was friendly, the room a good size and clean.
Review 41:The beds could be a little firmer but that's a personal choice as I suffer a bad back.
Review 42:I Stay at this place whenever I can when in Sedona. It's perfectly located with large rooms and a pool right in Sedona across the road from Natural Grocer. Convenience at a good price and rooms are clean. Nice to have a pool at this price also. Staff very helpful.
Review 43:The beds were a bit too soft for me.
Review 44:Microwave, fridge, pool and a hot tub. Great location - close to Airport Mesa and Red Rock State Park, a Starbucks opposite the road.
Review 45:nothing.
Review 46:Accessible location: facing the Main Street and accessible to every vortex spots. Close to Whole Foods. Accessible price: Not expensive but very comfortable.
Review 47:Staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean and equipped with four sets of towels....and was cleaned promptly. They also let us check in early free of charge when we called ahead. They told us they couldn't guarantee it which was fair because it depended on when the party before us checked out and they needed time to clean but we got there at 1:00 pm and the room was ready. The complimentary breakfast was also nice. Bare essentials for breakfast but great for tiding us over until we got to our tour destinations
Review 48:The beds were horrible my girlfriend complained about the smell of the place but she complains about everything with me it was about the sagging worn out beds sleep elsewhere.
Review 49:I liked sedona.
Review 50:There needed to be more creamer/sugar in the room for 2 cups of coffee, no alarm clock and needed a body size mirror on the bathroom door otherwise perfect for the price!
Review 51:The bed was a pillow top just like home and parking was right outside my door. I also liked that they had blue towels not typical white towels this made it more homelike.
Review 52:bathroom wall and baseboard was filthy. . Toilet would not stop running until I flipped the handle numerous times
Review 53:Great parking. Friendly staff. Perfect location to everything. Beautiful pool area. Affordable in an expensive tourist location
Review 54:This is Sedona's little budget-minded travelers secret. A sweet little hotel with gracious hosts that's pet friendly. It's well maintained and clean.
Review 55:Stayed here for 2 nights when we visited the Grand Canyon. Great location, and very good value for money. Very clean and comfortable. Would stay here again.
Review 56:Our bathroom roof leaked when it rained and the walls were dirty. Everything else was clean though
Review 57:The location was great and we loved the price and the pool was awesome
Review 58:Bed was extremely soft and They didn't use a proper bottom sheet (with elastic) to cover the mattress. I wish there was a view of the surrounding red rocks, but oh well. Owner was not super friendly, but he did have helpful suggestions when I asked.
Review 59:Good value for money, pool and jacuzzi were great, room was very clean, a/c worked well, convenient location, simple breakfast choices but my kids liked it!
Review 60:The welcome was not very warm, it seemed as if we were disturbing. There was no dedicated place for the very basic breakfast. We had to carry it out to our room by hand. The matresses were disastrous, they seemed older than the owner !
Review 61:The hotel was well located for visiting Sedona and the surroundings. The pool and the spa were in a quiet area. There are also a bbq and tables to eat on the deck of the pool. The room was clean and well furnished, although the hotel looked old fashion.
Review 62:No ice machine. Had to go to office to get ice and if office closed no ice. But manager quite friendly.
Review 63:Clean as a whistle. Close to shopping and many restaurants. Quiet. Nice clean pool. Good shower. Comfy beds with lovely soft sheets. Large frig with freezer and microwave. Easy access to parking. Best price in Sedona. Facility is older but we will stay there again. Great value for the money.
Review 64:The owner is a decent guy, but it was a bit weird having him watch over us each day while we picked breakfast items in the office. I'm guessing there must have been some theft/excessive taking before? The wi-fi worked well at times, but at others was very slow. This could be at any hour of the day.
Review 65:Clean, with fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The breakfast items, while basic, were better than I expected -- one day we had fresh donuts.
Review 66:Some of the cable channels were fuzzy.
Review 67:Comfortable, homey motel. Nice tile surround in tub area, and clean. Though the property is older, it is well-maintained and refreshing to not stay in a chain - neuter hotel room. Nice to drive the car up to the room; and have chairs to sit with morning coffee, outside the door.
Review 68:Understanding that Sedona is a tourist area and we visited in mid-July, the Sugar Loaf Lodge was still pricy.
Review 69:Clean, comfortable, near (but not too near) center of town. Good wifi, A/C, shower
Review 70:The room was definitely older. The tile in the bathroom was aged. Breakfast was just okay: bananas, granola bars, juices, and pastries.
Review 71:The best parts were: welcoming front desk person, decent sized room that was clean, and the pool was open late. We were also impressed that the air conditioner was quality, the room had a refrigerator and a microwave, and the atmosphere was quaint and hospitable.
Review 72:It's a little older, which can make it look a little unclean? And the TV didn't work... We never asked anyone to fix it tho and I bet they would have. They were super helpful! Over all I give this place a thumbs up.
Review 73:We loved the pool and the old man who worked at the front desk! Not a bad place to stay at all!
Review 74:The folks at the Sugarloaf are wonderful and so helpful. Save you money and stay here, take a dip in the pool to refresh and then see all you can in Sedona!
Review 75:The continental breakfast was lacking but due to the tiny "office" space I commend the owner/manager's efforts.
Review 76:The comfort & cleanliness. The price; a great value. The owner/manager had not yet received my reservation but he honored the online price. He was very pleasant.
Review 77:I can't think of anything we didn't like. Just keep in mind this is not like the chain hotels.
Review 78:It's a nice place to stay but is not fancy and modern. It was very clean and quiet. Pool was nice and clean even though we didn't swim.
Review 79:I have a bad back so the bed was too soft for me. But my husband was fine with the bed.
Review 80:Room had table and chairs inside and chairs outside to enjoy the views of the red rocks. Quiet room. In room refrigerator. Unexpected great breakfast selections - juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, biscotti, granola bars, coffee.
Review 81:I believe this property is owned by the older gentleman at the office. Don't let the appearance of this front office fool you, as upon first seeing it it looks somewhat shady; the rooms are very nice and the beds were VERY comfortable. The Chinese restaurant down the road, Szcheswuan, will deliver to your room too! (And it was good.)
Review 82:Reasonably priced, clean and comfortable. Attractive pool. Coffee and range of muffins, buns, fruit and yoghurt available to take back to your room. Would recommend, and definitely visit again if in Sedona. Enjoyed our stay.
Review 83:Jerry!!!! He was very friendly and helpful. The location is great and so is the view! Very close to shops, restaurants and all major "attractions"/ points of interest The beds were a little soft for my liking, but the rest of the family (8 in total) said they were very comfortable. Hotel was clean and felt welcoming ;) I would recommend it and stay there again if I'm ever again in the area.
Review 84:It is a well-kept but very basic budeget lodge, yet it cost us $100 to stay there for the night.
Review 85:Easy to get to and check in. Clean and comfortable. Nearby coffee shops and grocery store.
Review 86:The coffee pot was sour
Review 87:Serious ambiance & amenities beyond all expectations. Fabulous staffhot tub pool in a million $ setting in under $100.00/night. Red rocktrail out back for doggie walks
Review 88:The rooms are very clean and cozy, like having a big hug. The beds are amazingly soft, like sleeping on a cloud. It's great to have a separate vanity area from tub and toilet. Will stay hete again and recommend others ti stay here as well. Best night sleep ever. Also close to dining and shopping.
Review 89:A very small place with only 15 rooms but it's the cheapest place in Sedona. The beds were soft, the rooms were clean and we didn't hear any neighbors. It was a nice stay in a quaint, family owned hotel. I would stay again.
Review 90:The room was conveniently located and very comfortable. The staff was friendly.
Review 91:hospitable owner, giving good hiking suggestion. Cozy room and convenient location with fair charges. It also has Jacuzzi and free wifi.
Review 92:No exhaust in bathroom.
Review 93:Considerate staff.
Review 94:The beds were terrible. They must be 25 years old.
Review 95:Location and price were OK
Review 96:Great location and very affordable and clean.
Review 97:Old. Not enough plugs for phone charging. Old bathroom. Very old TV and too small for the room
Review 98:Location. Bed was comfortable
Review 99:very loud heater; tight parking space; TV too small
Review 100:friendly front-office manager; very good location
Review 101:A nice motel, comfortable and convenient.
Review 102:Hot tub was luke warm at best.
Review 103:Price was great compared to others. Quiet and clean. Has a pool and hot tub. If we had an issue, it was fuxed promptly.
Review 104:Spendy area, less of a value lodging/area.
Review 105:Good staff, even called to advise if late. OK basic breakfast. Comfortable bed and room.
Review 106:Clean room, comfortable beds, friendly staff
