Reviews for Hope Lake Lodge & Indoor Waterpark
Review 1:We used the hotel as a stopover on our trip from NYC to Niagara Falls. We think it was a super nice hotel but enjoying stunning velkoms lobby a good resturant and good service.
Review 2:The town is very quaint and quiet. Farming glory from olden times.
Review 3:The lodge is HUGE ! Accommodations were made for my requests. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and fully outfitted. Check out the awesome indoor water park.
Review 4:The rooms seemed worn for a newer high end resort. Bed was average - didn't seem as big as a regular queen and comforter/pillows were a bit lumpy. Rug was frayed on edge meeting kitchen. Small bathroom sink/mirror area. Hard for two people to get ready at same time - would be good to have mirror outside bathroom. Probably the bigger issue that I had was the cleanliness of the room. There was something sticky stuck on the floor in the kitchen, several crumbs under the table - chairs were probably not pulled out to vacuum, and a fairly large stain on the rug in front of the couch. I was able to get what was on the floor off with a little elbow grease, and bathroom was clean.
Review 5:Festive atmosphere when you walked in - lots of activity going on. Nice entry area and very hospitable customer service people.
Review 6:N/A
Review 7:We really loved it. We did not have the opportunity to visit the pool or water park on this visit. Our son is a freshman @ Syracuse University. So we will definitely be back. We were extremely pleased with our decision to stay @ Hope Lodge.
Review 8:The acutal room; kitchen was great, great bathrooms, loved the decor and comfy beds. Kids loved the arcade and pool. The water park a bit pricey and would prefer some type of deal that included stay with water part tickets for next time.
Review 9:The outdoor pool was horrific...with all that space this was the best they could do? Very expensive room and waterpark was in addition.
Review 10:The room was nice and clean and a good size. Front desk staff and bartender excellent.
Review 11:Great idea, run by rookies, and very overpriced. We weren't allowed to check in until 430. When we did check in there was a fine layer of dust over a lot of the surfaces. instead of being embarrassed and working hard to rectify this I had the GM arguing with me as to why it happened, and suggesting that it was baby powder as I was changing my child. Things happen in this industry, but it is how the staff reacts to fix the situation that matters to me. and this was not acceptable in my eyes. I shouldn't have had to argue to have someone come up immediately, or to have them come back again to do a good job in cleaning it. I probably would give this place another chance in the winter, the kids had fun at the end of the day but it would be my last choice.
Review 12:Accommodation is nicely themed, but feels dated. Price/quality not in balance - found overall experience far too expensive - waterpark is very outdated and ridiciously overpriced. Recommend to book room with balcony. Bad wifi-connectivity in rooms.
Review 13:Spacious rooms, great self-catering facilities in room - comfortable bed- and bathrooms. Overall, Hope Lake Lodge is at a nice location and great starting point for outdoor activities. Also like the Starbucks outlet inhouse!
Review 14:This is a good hotel but what happened to my family over the weekend left a very bitter taste in my mouth. We stayed over for 3 nights of which the first two were uneventful. We stayed here because we were escorting our child to the start of a new academic year at a university in Ithaca. Consequently we would leave in the morning at around 10am and return in the evening after 9pm. When we came back to the hotel for the last night, we found that the room had not been serviced (the kitchen still had unwashed things from our breakfast, the beds were unmade, the towels were still on the bathroom floor, the bath tub had not been cleaned, etc). We called reception and they sent someone over to clean the room. I decided to go to reception to inquire about the possibility of another room given that the cleaning was being done so late and with us (including children) in the room but was informed that the facility was fully booked. Why still inquiring from the reception staff as to what could have led to the room not been serviced, the manager on duty that evening emerged from an inner room and explained to me that the reason was because I didn’t put on the door the sign requesting for the room to be serviced as that was the policy of the hotel. I was astounded by this and pointed out to him that the day before we had had the room cleaned although we didn’t have the sign on outside of the door. I also mentioned that it was the fourth time that my family was staying at the facility and had always had the room cleaned without putting the sign on the door. As he insisted that this hotel did things differently from others, I was curious as to what sign he was referring to and asked if I could see one. To my surprise, he produced the general sign that has “Privacy please” on one side and “Service please” on the other. I told him that as I had not hang the sign requesting privacy there was no need for me to have the sign on my door asking for the room to be serviced.
Review 15:Beds were a bit uncomfortable, but not the worst I've slept in at a hotel/resort. Wish the Water Park had longer hours...with 3 kids under 10, I wish there was more to do before 10:00am. The beers on tap in the lounge were too pricey as well ($7.50 for a local craft draft). Would not pay full "peak" price for the same suite, but a great deal through booking.com.
Review 16:This was a great location, with great amenities. Close to the Ithaca waterfalls and Cayuga Lake (we spent a day there). The Adventure Center was fun. The kids loved the water park. Great open space to run around. Nice evening fire pit outside. Staff was amazingly friendly.
Review 17:Really could use a true indoor pool. The pool that you have access to is outdoors and even at the end of June it was rather chilly. Water park is overpriced for what it is.
Review 18:Room was very roomy and clean. Kids enjoyed water park. The staff was very friendly.
Review 19:I did not like that you had to pay additionally for the waterpark. I spoke with the manager and she was very nice. She is going to work with booking.com to make sure that is clearly stated.
Review 20:The hotel and property was beautiful. The staff and restaurants were great.
Review 21:While the restaurant staff was super friendly, the Acorn Grill is nothing to rave about. We were bummed the pool area and water park did not open until 10am.
Review 22:Our kids loved the 2 story room with a jacuzzi tub, fireplace and kitchen. While we were only there two nights, having a kitchen to store drinks and heat up leftovers was nice. The kids treated the jacuzzi as their own personal hot tub.
Review 23:The water park is not included, you must pay each day to use it.
Review 24:The room was awesome, roomy with everything you need. The staff are very friendly and overly helpful.
Review 25:Frankly the breakfast was over priced and underwhelming - a modest buffet but not quality food in my opinion.
Review 26:I greatly enjoyed my overall experience. Driving between the lodge and Ithaca on the country roads was delightful. The lodge itself is top notch. Staff included.
Review 27:I was unaware that the waterpark was an additional cost. Every hotel Ive been at before with a waterpark, the cost is included in your room cost.
Review 28:I liked the kitchen, the room was really nice. Staff was nice.
Review 29:One girl at the front desk was a little short tempered while the other girl was sweet and attentive during check in.
Review 30:Our suite was clean and comfortable. The dining at the grill was a pleasure, wait staff was pleasant and attentive.
Review 31:Bad experience with staff at snack bar in water park area who was let's just say not customer friendly. Terrible experience at the Acorn Grill for dinner. Supervisor did rectify with a credit at checkout and was apologetic.
Review 32:Room was beautiful and clean. Most staff we ran into in halls and housekeeping were very nice and friendly.
Review 33:The hotel seemed understaffed and not super friendly or 5 star like I would expect considering prices to stay? The spa & their staff were fantastic. , Suite room was fantastic for a family.
Review 34:Suite was very clean and comfortable for a family of 4! We loved it! Water park great for kids aged 7 & 9!
Review 35:The food was not great at the one restaurant at lodge and swim snack area. We ordered easy bar type food and hot dogs and kids would barely touch it. Food was better at Greek Peak. Full kitchen in room..so you didn't have to eat out, which helped.
Review 36:Free Shuttle to lift..every 15 mins. They had daycare at the hotel or at the mountain- very convenient and my 3 yr old liked going. The skiing was good for kids and not overly crowded so no wait time for the lifts.
Review 37:Hot tub was broken, outdoor pool closed and the place had wall -to- wall people due to winter break. Understaffed at the café poolside.
Review 38:Water park facility was small but decent - but they should limit how many can be in at a time. Place was too packed to enjoy. Skiing and tubing was nice. May return in the springs to try he adventure center
Review 39:if you don't want to swim outside, there is no pool facilities, except for a wave pool which is a part of waterpark and you have to pay a lot extra. it should be free for the lodge guests
Review 40:outdoor pool is fun in the winter
Review 41:We were disappointed that our kids were not allowed to Jacuzzi. They were looking forward to it after day of skiing.
Review 42:Nice place, great amenities. Friendly staff
Review 43:When I booked there one of the reasons was it was a lodge and water park, but the reality is that the water park is a paid facility, guests staying at the lodge must pay a heavy charge to use the water park. This was very misleading for us.
Review 44:The location is excellent very close to the mountain.
Review 45:Why charge guests for the indoor park when we already spent $800 on hotel room. Restaurant and food NI - waited a long time for the food, steak was dry, salad bar was not neat.
Review 46:Big room, nice view, location, kitchen
Review 47:Water park costs additional entrance fee. Hours of operation for waterpark and activity park are limited (October)
Review 48:The place is located in a nature serroundings. Very clean and well organized. Room is spacious and kitchen is well equipped.
Review 49:- charges for water park - water park price are different between front desk ( registration ) and water park desk. - Took time for check in due to staff's shortage . - breakfast is not included. - parking lots is not asphalted.
Review 50:- clean - internal design - spacious
Review 51:The staff was a bit disorganized when answering questions about the water park and activities around the resort.
Review 52:The family suite was the perfect size for a family four. A very homey feel. Beautiful lobby as well.
Review 53:Lovely lodge, clean rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff.
Review 54:I liked the surrounding nature, the lake, the waterpark and the food. The hotel was great.
Review 55:- No tea.
Review 56:- LEED certified. - Home like feeling. - Decent water park and a close by adventure center. - Calm lake beach.
Review 57:To pay for the water park. The restaurant closes at 9pm.
Review 58:Location.
Review 59:Best hotel I have stayed at in a long time
Review 60:Assumed waterpark free for guests however they wanted 30 dollars per person!
Review 61:Location is out of this world!
Review 62:bed's were a bit too hard.
Review 63:Loved the kitchen in room. Loved the water park.
Review 64:We had only one night and would come back...
Review 65:Discovered this place on the way back from Niagra Falls...
Review 66:The Acorn Grill was overpriced.
Review 67:We had a wonderful time. Lots of different things to do for the kids.
Review 68:Decor is very rustic.
Review 69:Adventure Land was excellent.
Review 70:pool/whirlpool should have been separate from watermark; place is run down; needs new carpeting and ventilation; musty
Review 71:not many dining options nearby
Review 72:pretty much everything
Review 73:Nothing.
Review 74:Absolutely everthing
Review 75:Spaciousness of the rooms, friendly staff, lots to do onsite. Good food!!
Review 76:Love that everything was at the hotel!!! Fun, food etc.
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:The hot tub outside. Awesome
Review 79:Awesome location and stuff. Very nice for family vacation especially if u have children. Excellent water park.
Review 80:Too expensive for what you get. Wifi unusable and restaurant poor. Lacks that little extra to justify the price.
Review 81:Very spacey rooms
Review 82:Needs more options for food - more restaurants.
Review 83:Facilities
Review 84:Everyhing was top notch, thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Review 85:There were many deflated tubes at the waterpark. There were only about 3 double tubes and there was no staff instructing people to share tubes, so people just kept them and we had to wait a long while to get tubes. Also they were short staff so different areas were closed at different times.
Review 86:There was plenty of space and beds in our room. The balcony was nice. The kithen area was great. We enjoyed the Acorn restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is nicely decorated.
Review 87:Reservation and key system was down for a day, which delayed check-in. Had to wait 5-10 mins for staff to provide access to rooms. Staff seem to lack hospitality and customer service training, and less proactive then other resorts.
Review 88:Very clean, nice suites with kitchen and family room.
Review 89:I hated the shabby job that the girl did decorating my suite and the price was over the top. I feel she robbed me. I'll never ask to have any decorations put up again.
Review 90:I loved the indoor waterpark. I loved the suite. I loved the people that worked there.
Review 91:Water park was expensive, so we didn't end up going to it as mytoddler could only play in one small area. He had plenty of (free) funin the room and other areas of the hotel and mountain. No discounts forhotel guests. Larger discounts and weekday incentives would help, aswould a little lower price since mountain is really not a destinationjust yet and only a few ski trails were open. We stayed more than onenight only because booking.com was offering a good deal.
Review 92:The free shuttle to the mountain was great. Breakfast buffet was areally good deal. Loved the room, especially the fireplace. Access tothe outdoor heated pool and hot tub was also nice.
Review 93:The service was awful. We stayed three nights and they never cleaned theroom. By the time we left, we had about 15 dirty towels on the floor. The entire staff from front desk to housekeeping seemed miserable, neversmiled and acted like they were doing you a favor to do their jobs. Also, every other resort we've stayed at with a waterpark includedthe park with the room, this place expected $35/person per day touse the waterpark (which basically was two slides and a small wavepool). The towel racks were empty both evenings we visited thepoop/hot tub and it was difficult to get anyone to care. There alsowere no towels or anything to wipe down the machines in the fitnesscenter. Overall, the service was awful! I don't know if we'dstay again even though we loved the location and facilities because withsuch poor customer service and bad management, it won't take longfor the place to get run down.
Review 94:Loved the room, we had plenty of space to move around. The sofa bed waseven comfortable. The fitness center was very well-equipped and open 24hours. We especially liked the nearby Adventure Park. It almost made upfor the atrocious customer service.
Review 95:waterpark should be included in price of stay, way too expensive for a family to go to it unless late in day on cheaper price and even then pricey. Not enough posting of what was happening for the day. Maybe post daily happening in elevator instead of spa stuff? would have liked more for teens, not much for my kids to do, they loved to snake and rapter shows but we found out they were there by looking out window!
Review 96:nice room, came with everything for kitchen
Review 97:Other guests on balconies were noisy. Also, a bit too expensive; thereshould be a complimentary breakfast for the rates that are charged.
Review 98:In quiet spot
Review 99:poor lighting in rooms - no lights on ceiling - needed an extra lamp or two in each room
Review 100:Enormous rooms with all the amenities - like being home; comfortable beds, big bathrooms
Review 101:Maybe the bar could be open to midnight. Possibly some enhancement tothe breakfast menu. No real complaints, though, but the food temperaturecould have been better controlled.
Review 102:The construction, the variety of activities, the family atmosphere, andthe excellent service. The daycare service was great. I even got a jumpfor my car when needed.
Review 103:The staff seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced to put it kindly.Everything was at an additional fee and we were not even offered a checkin day rate for the waterpark when we did not arrive until after 4pm.The person who checked us in didn't know about it.
Review 104:The place was very clean and comfortable. The large room we had was wellstocked and very good for larger groups(we had 6 in our group but thesuite could easily accommodate more). I loved the outdoor pool and thekids enjoyed the water slides.
Review 105:We were very disappointed with our stay. We spend a lot of money and didn't realize the water park was not part of the package. Also we were checked in late and when we went to water park there was no towels for 2 hours. Then in the morning I went to the gym, no water and no towels. If this is a high end resort, you need to step up your service.
Review 106:The beds were comfortable
Review 107:The water park staff were awful,To strict To little kids, and most ofthem have no manners,i felt that I took my kids to the army, not to awinter vacation.
Review 108:The water park and the suits,i liked the Hotel staff.
Review 109:Most everything was extra apart from the room price. Water park, no breakfast included, high priced snack bar.
Review 110:Beautiful facility. Indoor water park. Super friendly staff.
Review 111:The slides are great, but only a few choices.
Review 112:small pool
Review 113:Lack of customer service from the staff
Review 114:Location Water Park
Review 115:Pool area closed during the stay!
Review 116:Kitchen-TVs-Transportaion to the mountain!
Review 117:the food was not really good. must improove it.
Review 118:The beds
Review 119:The staff was great n great out door hot tub !!! All around a 10
